JOHN: what i'm wondering is, once we crashed through that window, weren't we supposed to like… JOHN: enter a new game session? the reset one? JOHN: and meet up with karkat, and vriska, and all the trolls, and i guess maybe also a bunch of dead trolls too??? like troll ghosts or such. JADE: yes that was the basic idea
Hm. That might be a problem, actually.
Tumblr media
These two are flying directly from one Fourth Wall to another, presumably emerging in post-Scratch Derse at some point during the B2 session. It doesn't look like they'll be able to take a quick detour to the Furthest Ring, except perhaps by taking a nap - so unless they find another solution, we'll be forced to split the party for a while.
I thought Jade might be able to teleport them directly to Rose and Dave, or vice-versa - but if she could do that, the two groups would already be united. It can't be that easy.
There's probably some restriction on Jade's powers, which prevents her from taking this obvious course of action. Like, maybe if she teleports someone who's moving at 99% the speed of light, it causes some sort of nuclear explosion.
JOHN: oh god, rose and dave!!! where are they now? did one of them do the suicide mission thing? and what about the other? did they get scratch'd??? […] JADE: they did not actually destroy the sun. trust me, i would know if it was gone. now that i know what i know, it was kind of silly of us to think it would ever be destroyed…
Are you sure?
Tumblr media
Doc Scratch - if we assume his 'honesty' schtick was legit - certainly seemed to think it could be destroyed by the Tumor. It was created by the Tumor, after all, so it makes intuitive sense that a bomb on the same scale could at least fuck it up a little.
...god, I still haven't even begun to digest the implications of Scratch creating the Sun. It's yet another hint that English is motivated by more than just his appetite, and is working on something much, much bigger behind the scenes.
JADE: and as it happens, rose and dave are not dead either! i have received very reliable reports that they survived
...when?
JADE: when i was dead there for a few minutes, i had one last very informative nap
Oh, ok, that makes sense.
So - from now on, every time our heroes fall asleep, Aradia et al. can reliably fill them in on what's been happening in the afterlife. Everyone say thank you, Feferi!
JOHN: so is this place like that yellow lawn ring thing karkat was talking about? […] JADE: its the yellow yard JADE: we have to cross it to break through the next wall […] JOHN: thats not a yard. JOHN: yards are like these flat wide patches of grass, surrounded by fences and stuff. JOHN: if anything, it's more like a road. […] JADE: kinda like the yellow brick road? JOHN: sure, why not!
Well, we have plenty of Witches and tin men, but Nepeta's really more of a kitten than a lion. Plus, she sure ain't no coward.
Tumblr media
JOHN: what… JOHN: the fuck… JOHN: is that?

Do not look upon the face of God.

It's been two years since I played Endwalker. It is the expac that I have spent the most time digesting by far, and I think I still haven't come to terms with just how much I dislike the forced time loop and Kairos for what it does to Venat's general characterization, writing and relationship to the WoL.
I've tried to write a post dissecting this multiple times, but it always ends up becoming a mess because there's just too much to say and the writing I'm discussing is janky and riddled with issues. I'd give Endwalker more grace if it wasn't for this one character and this one plot beat, but because I've received backlash for being critical of her writing in the past, I'm being stubborn about it.
I'm generally pretty flexible about most fictional things, so it is extremely weird to be in a position where this one bit of writing makes me want to chew glass.
Unfortunately Venat is too important to the overall story to ignore or sweep under the rug.
It's her knowing everything in advance that breaks her character for me—the pre-determination from the closed time loop. I wouldn't have issues if she had lost her memories to Kairos, too—in fact, I'd probably love her. If she went into the Final Days not knowing anything about Meteion or the future world, and the Sundering was an unexpected consequence of the Hydaelyn v Zodiark fight (as it is implied in Shadowbringers), then I wouldn't take issue. Or if the game actually cared to show her trying to avert the crisis but nothing works, and make it a "you can't fight prophecy" kind of thing. Or to show her concerns being dismissed by the Convocation and double-down on them not budging and not believing her.
But instead they imply that she followed the WoL's information to the letter to connect the timelines, and didn't tell anyone about Meteion or the Final Days and let her world walk right into that unprepared. And then instead of Hydaelyn's actual summoning and fight with Zodiark, we got a metaphorical cutscene that, while very beautiful, is a pretty shallow musing on 6.0's themes.
I could even give the time travel a pass (even though I think it's a really weak way of giving the WoL the information they need about Meteion) if they didn't let her keep her memories. But the way they do it in game, Venat has no agency in her own story because her actions are pre-determined. It's a prime example of “look at the pretty spectacle and don't think about it too hard”.
I don't think the writing does a good enough job at actually letting you have an organic relationship with Venat. The story is too rushed; the game relies on assumptions, headcanons, and sentimental/meta nostalgia (the "has your journey been good?" line) to make it work, which is why she's such a divisive character. It's personal because we've all fleshed her out in some way with our own ideas. But I didn't leave Elpis feeling like Venat and I were friends or that we were connected. I left feeling like she was a stranger I knew for 24 hours max and somehow she decided that she loved me and put me on a pedestal, then decided to throw out her own world (that she says she loves) for the sake of mine based on a few stories.
This whole premise falls apart for me because the writing never sold me on Hermes' perspective, or that the Ancient's world being a broken paradise doomed for failure. They didn't explore it enough to pull that off. We needed to see the lands beyond Elpis, which is a research facility and should not be considered the norm. Ancient society has its problem for sure; it's an extremely flawed society, but no more than everyone else. This especially falls flat coming after the expac that had Eulmore.
What happened to "to ignore the plight of those one might conceivably save is not wisdom—it is indolence"? Sorry Louisoix, apparently that no longer applies if it's Hydaelyn doing it.
The scenes where Venat talks about her travels and how much she loves the world just don't feel genuine to me at all. I think it is better in FR and JP, but in ENG she sounds like a western tourist who Eat Pray Loved her way across a foreign country and came back "enlightened". Which sucks because out of all the new characters introduced in 6.0, Venat has so much potential! She has the makings of a phenomenal character! But there are too many execution problems, and her writing is hurt by the fact that the game is so scared of you thinking she's flawed. The game's inability for the WoL and the Scions to criticize her actions or view her in anything but a positive light hurts her writing.
I worry a lot about posting this because criticizing Venat's writing hasn't gone well in the past. If I sound sensitive, it's because she carries a lot of ffxiv social baggage for me.
I no longer play with the group I started ffxiv with. A couple people within that group got upset when I started thinking critically about her character because I thought it was interesting to give the WoL a difficult relationship with her. Eventually I had to leave because I couldn't stay in a place where I was being ignored, talked over, and cut out from doing group content because of my opinions about a fictional character.
It was a crappy situation all around tbh, and I don't really ever want a repeat of it.

Like promised in my Lucifer and Lilith post: here's my redesign and character changes for Charlie
Like always, notes under the cut. Drawn in Clip Studio Paint and with Photoshop CS6 for final touches. Okay to reblog, Feedback is encourage.
Charlie's character in the Pilot/canon:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Honestly, I really don't have any complaints about Charlie's design in the pilot. I think it's cute. I can't say the same for for the show itself though. Her hair is fine, but I don't like the outfit at all. Too much red and within a show that already has too much red, it all blends together and honestly isn't pleasant on the eyes. Honestly, I can't imagine what it'd be like for color blinded people heesh.
However, her design is the least of the problems I have with Show!Charlie. My major grip with Charlie in the show is how she's written.
There's a lot of things you can say about Charlie in the Pilot but what you can't say about her that she was unrealistic. She had good intentions and while she did come across as naïve, she wasn't stupid. She knew that her idea for the Happy Hotel could end up in disaster and maybe was dead in the water from day one; but she liked to believe that there's good in everyone and people deserve a second chance, or at least a chance to change for the better.
She also didn't come across as sheltered or a pushover like she did in the show neither. Charlie knew why people are sent to Hell and some are truly horrible people; some that she may have found out aren't worthy of redemption, let alone want to be redeemed. Also she knew when to put her foot down and not take shit unlike in the show where she just doesn't want to use her power as Princess of Hell because 'that's too mean' like giiiiiirl...
A part of me likes to believe that Pliot!Charlie would have no problem standing up to Valentino and get Angel Dusk out of his clutches if it meant not just for a chance Angel becoming a better person, but because he is her friend and believes no one should be abused like Val does to Angel.
(She also wouldn't call Angel Dusk a loser for being SA'd and R*ped like the show did with Husk. I know what Loser Baby was trying to do with it's message but it comes across as tone death being you can't really compare Husk's problems to what Angel is going though but I digest. There's better people to speak about this topic than me, honestly. I highly recommend Limus' video in regard to how Angel Dusk is written if you want to hear from an SA survivor's PoV)
About the redesign and character changes:
Honestly? I didn't change much from her pilot design because there really wasn't much to change in my book. Why fix perfection after all? If anything I just added onto what was already established plus added features from her redesigned parents. I gave them more golden hair with red hues along with Lilith's little horns that also grow when angry or in full demon form. I've seen a lot of people drawing Charlie with goat like features and couldn't help but not find that adorable so I ended up going down that route as well. (my Lilith also had animal ears but my Lucifer has more goat features in his demon form) They do still have there red suit jacket which they likely wears most of the time but I just really like her suspenders I want to show them off. Look I just think they're neat.
Her personality is closer to the pilot than it is the show, with her world view slowly changing as the story goes on. They also grow closer to the tenants of the hotel so that she can help them better suppose to doing day camp activities and thinking that's enough to get someone redeemed. I mean there are a few things from the show like trust excuses that I can see her putting the cast in being trust can be a virtue, but otherwise her methods become slowly just...talking and listening and finding the root of why they are the way they are with some of them perhaps tried to do good when still alive but always gotten dragged back into whatever sin or horrible thing they got themselves for what ever reason it may be. The only expectation of this is Alastor who doesn't really change much outside of growing fond of Charlie and some of their better qualities possibility rubbing off on him but considering he was a serial killer and cannibal when alive, I don't think there's anyway he's getting anywhere close to Heaven. XD
Her and Vaggie (who I will be renaming to Agatha, or Aggie for short in my AU) aren't a couple. At least at the very beginning of the story as I plan on going a more slow burn approach with their relationship suppose to them being a couple from the get go. I like the idea of Chaggie but found their relationship in the show was kinda wasted potential and (that seems to be the underlining theme of Hellaverse at this point) boring honestly. They had some chemistry and cute moments but I feel like the writers had really little interest in their relationship to begin with outside of wanting a wlw romance and from my understanding the reason why Chaggie is a thing is because a few people on Viv's team shipped it while none of the writers really cared much idk? It being slow burn in this case is more of a personal preference than it is to fix the problems with the pairing as a whole. Honestly for a show who claims to be 'female focused' it sure doesn't seem like it cares about it's woman characters at all? It's like the showrunners wanted to pull an excuse out of their ass to avoid taking accountability for poor writing in Helluva Boss' female leads...
Tumblr media
They're non binary and go by she/them pronouns. Why? Well, Why not?
Honestly I don't have much more to say about Charlie being I'm basically taking what was given in the pilot and working with that as a base. Maybe I'll talk more in depth about her relationship with the tenants later but as of now I think I may have said everything I needed.
Next on my design agenda will be Archangel Michael (replaces Adam), following redesigns for Kesha!Bee and Stolas. I also need to finish up my second part of my Pride Ring post. It's about done but I need to clean it up a bit...

Honestly so happy to find another person who doesn’t like colleen. Depressing how they’re the face of shojo when they make such mediocre content. Their queer shojo video was so bad it made me depressed…why do so many popular shojo influencers hate bl??
I think the main point of contention that shoujo fans have with colleen's content is that it's definitely more surface level beginner info in many cases, but it's packaged in a way that acts like it's targeted at long time fans (like the history of shoujo vid or the queer subtext vid). I think their videos are solidly FINE if you don't particularly hold any long term interest in shoujo (as in, maybe you're a casual reader or even just know of it) but beyond that they aren't necessarily a source of EXPANDED info. However I can't really look past the pretty easily disprovable misinfo that could have been rectified with....basically a singular google search especially in cases like the queer subtext video lol. Like that stuff can really only slide if the viewer doesn't care THAT much.
Which I think is where the whole influencer persona gets a bit frustrating. You can only really act like a figurehead to a degree with a language barrier and also a relatively pretty limited catalogue of things you've read and limited knowledge within the space you're acting figurehead of.
But honestly i think a lot of big shoujo accounts (on twt but I suppose elsewhere like maybe tiktok and youtube but I'm not really in the space there + don't have tiktok myself) do a disservice to the queer roots of the genre for the sole reason that within English publication spaces it's pretty glaringly left out. The shoujo that gets published in English is in a landslide percentage mostly heterosexual romance or easily digestible drama.
Not that something like that should prevent people from reading the queer stories, obviously there are scanlations of a lot of them and even official publications in a few cases, but it's way easier to make an influencer-esque persona based off series that are easy (and legal lol) to access and promote. That being said I also think the anime and manga community online has a homophobia issue and the online aversion to BL in any form is still going strong so 🤷‍♂️. In an online climate where reading things with unhappy endings or controversial topics gets you labelled as a problem or worse I'm not surprised the people with platforms steer clear from talking about them, as disappointing as it is for people who actually care about the history of shoujo. And also for people who are also you know gay and like to read about gay characters rather than the same straighty drivel.
All that being said tho I don't actually have an issue with Colleen as like, a person mostly because I don't get access to their person, the same way ppl who just follow me on here don't really get access to MY person either. I don't really get to say I dislike THEM but I do as it stands dislike their content and what exists of their online "celebrity" for lack of a better term.
And for the record while I'm on this tangent I think they (and their friends/followers) could probably learn to handle criticism levelled against them a little bit better, because you (in reference to anon specifically, and I'm taking you being on anon as more proof of this) aren't the first person to come to me in private or anonymously to voice their critiques or distaste because they don't feel comfortable publicly posting about it. I think a niche community shouldn't have a person with a platform acting figurehead that people are nervous about disagreeing with on their own personal accounts. I think that just kinda sucks overall for the general community. I haven't had any kickback that I've seen and I'm pretty used to being disliked online atp but others can't handle it and really shouldn't have to if all they're doing is voicing complaints on something posted publicly!
(Also also, I'm kiddinnnnggggg anyone can read the manga I like and talk about it. Obviouslyyyyy. I might just not like what they have to say about it. lol)

Hi Sylv - welcome! Here is your Sunday Sickness request. Answer however you want and for as many or few of your OCs as you want:
What is one thing about each of your OCs that you have as part of your headcanon for them that people don't know? Since you are just now introducing your OCs, this gives you the opportunity to say something about each of them. Have fun with it!
Ahh, hey Lis! I'm so excited to answer, I'll make sure to also send my asks next Sunday to people involved! :D I'll be introducing the OCs I mentioned in my fic (Courtney, Lucien and Nico) and also some new OCs that my next fic will be about! I don't want to reveal absolutely everything about my OCs here, so I'll just say some basic info and fun facts!
Lucien LaVeau : Lucien was born and raised in Canada, though his great grandparents (Dad's side) moved there from France! He has an older brother, I may introduce him as an OC one day too. He's a 2nd year Architecture student and is 21 years old, his birthday is January 28th! I hope you could tell from the fic that he is a rather private person and doesn't like other people up his business haha He's allergic to Soy, though he doesn't know it 100% yet. If you want to imagine him better: He's 178cm tall, blond (for haircut, think 90s Leonardo DiCaprio), a mix between lean/skinny and has sharp(er) facial features, though a rather 'button' nose! His eyes are a mix of green and blue-ish, his complexion is rather paler, but not completely pale!
Nicola de Scarzis : I referred to him just by that in the tags, but actually his full name is Charoen Nicola Mattia Janus de Scarzis (but he chose to go by Nico so that his name won't get mispronounced)! But that tag would've been simply too long lol He's half Thai, half Italian, but moved to Canada for college! He's a 1st year law student and currently 19 years old, but he will be turning 20 on the 11th of August! Nico isn't allergic to anything, but he gets carsick easily, though mostly his problem is that no matter how nauseous he gets, he can't throw up easily to feel better. Now, something for visualisation : He's 183cm tall, has dark brown curly hair and is more toned than Lucien! He also has sharp facial features, a 'greek' nose and an eyebrow slit from a scar! His eyes are light brown, and his complexion is tan!
Courtney Ambers : Courtney is from Nigeria, but her family moved to Canada when she was young. She's a 2nd year fashion student! She'll be turning 20 on July 2nd and she's Lucien's childhood friend, and probably the person he trusts most right now! She's not officially allergic to anything, but has a sensitive stomach in general! She also has a girlfriend, who is an F-1 driver :) I'll introduce her later though, to not spoil the fun! For visualization, Courtney is 175cm tall, she has long, wavy dark brown hair with some white and purple streaks in them! For her figure, think Aphrodite Rhithymnia sculpture (I don't mean to disrespect the goddess in any way, I just hope people can look up the sculpture and have a clear image in their head)! Her features are softer, and she has a 'flat' nose! I'm not sure how to describe her complexion, I'm not black myself and don't wanna be disrespectful! I think the best I could describe it as would be a deep brown, I also saw some palettes describing it as chocolate or cocoa!
Zhang Zheyuan (surname, given name) : Zheyuan was born in china, and then got sent by his parents to move to Canada as a teenager and stay with his aunt! He's currently 22 years old, his birthday is on February 12th! He works as a content creator and posts his own song and covers and vlogs on YouTube while studying business (3rd year)! He's allergic to strawberries and can't digest large amount of lactose (he's fine if it's in moderation). For visualisation, he's 175cm, and also between a lean and skinny, but unlike Lucien, he leans more towards the skinny. I'm not sure how to describe his nose shape, but it's between 'flat' and 'button'... Does that make sense...? His hair is blonde (dyed) and he attempts to go for this 'styled unstyled' look! His eyes are dark brown and he has a scar on his upper lip! His complexion is between light and tan - not as tan as Nico, but more tan than Lucien!
Dominic Roy : Dominic is fully Canadian haha He's 23 years old and his birthday is on December 8th! He works as a full-time streamer - he streams games, showcases products and occasionally also does covers of songs. He doesn't attend college - and never did. He's intolerant to gluten (not celiac disease!) and has trouble sleeping. For visualisation, he has thick, a little wavy, deep brown hair. For haircut think like... Zuko season 3, but thicker and... Wavier. His complexion is also more tan. He's 180cm and well, can't really describe him as skinny, but he's also not as toned as Nico. Think Sarawat from 2gether the series. His nose shape is similar to Nico's.
Slight spoiler for Dominic x Zheyuan - it's a "and they were roommates" type of thing hehe

i saw your post about people always looking for romance in complex very close relationships and to be honest i think it all goes back to amatonormativity. they see a dynamic that is so genuinely heartfelt; "we'll be together forever", "we need each other"... and they can't imagine that being anything else other than romantic because we live in a society. fans tend to feel the need to pair to people together (maybe they think it will make the characters happier? they think they have to be in a relationship? they think it's impossible to live without experiencing romance?), and in a piece of media that doesn't give you many options, they gravitate towards whatever is most interesting in the context of the show, even if it's problematic. the normal people won't ship it, but a lot will simply look for another thing that ISN'T supported by the narrative yet fulfills the same purpose... and has their favorite character on it, of course
forgive me if this response is convoluted and makes no sense cause im about to say alot. but i have a whole lot to say on fandoms and shipping that may or may not alienate everyone around me but i do find that because our society views romantic love as the highest most powerful form of love (my main example i always pull out for this is the term "more then friends." the world views romance as higher then friendship and romantic love as stronger then platonic when...thats not even true. its different of course, they're not the same type of love, but one is not stronger inherently then the other.) fandom spaces tend to fall into this mindset of only viewing characters they like's dynamics through a romantic lens unless theyre family or something along those lines.
theres nothing wrong with shipping and i will never say that there is. look at my blog for 2 seconds and i think its quite clear that i think theres no issue in it even if i tend to be pointed about what i engage in related to it. but alot of shipping spaces tend to ignore nuance in favor of sticking labels upon things. we cannot see relationships for what they are at a complex level, or see them for how they affect the characters in it and the nature of it because we are preoccupied with sticking a label to it because simplification and flanderization into more digestible tropes is easier then analyzing things. i dont think shipping is bad but i think the inability to see things as complex and with greater meaning then a label is a problem, and as someone who has had much more valuable relationships with my friends in my life then my few romantic partners i find it disheartening that shipping is such a heavy priority in fandom far above even analyzing the material. i understand why it happens but it is a little disappointing.
tldr that probably doesnt even summarize what i just said and is actually just another completely different comment i think our obsession with labeling relationships is reductive

Did you know that pigeons require specialized grit?
Many birds eat stones of some kind to aid in digestion and the grinding of seeds. This actually isn't what I'm talking about, surprisingly. Pigeons do not need this kind of mechanical help, for whatever reason.
If I had to guess, the reason lies in their crop, which is insanely specialized. Columbids (the grouping containing pigeons and doves) are the only birds that can drink without lifting their heads. They can suck water! This is incredible! The reason they are thought to be able to do this is an extremely muscular crop. It's my guess that the crop is taking care of this mechanical grinding all by itself.
So what am I talking about then?
Well, there is a long established practice in pigeon keeping of providing a "red grit" to domestic pigeons. This also can be seen as "pink powder" in some parts of the world. It is comprised of soluble stones. This means they can be dissolved and broken down once swallowed.
This is an important detail. There are other versions of grit sold that are insoluble, and can't be broken down the same way. Most of these grits contain or are only granite. Granite is useless for our purposes, but some of the old guys swear by it, so sometimes it can be hard to avoid.
What's so important in this red grit? If you get the right ones, a variety! Red grits have a variety of needed minerals on offer that our captive pigeons might not be finding in their loft and their feed. Iron is among the most important.
I have a photo from the back of one of the most favored red grits on the market, which is considered an 'enhanced grit' due to added vitamins.
Tumblr media
If you Google some of these more complex sounding names, they will become more familiar to you.
This is generally considered the gold standard grit. Few others match its quality and sheer helpfulness. (For reference, it is the Versele-laga All in One). Jovati makes one that is about on par. Otherwise to get the same effects you're looking at pink powders, which are much more concentrated.
Well, why is all this a big deal? I'll tell you!
A common grit pigeons end up on is oyster shell-only. And at the very least, they do need this, and it is soluble! But calcium alone is not going to support their health.
An indoor bird (especially a hen) that is being given only oyster shell and no other supplements may experience problems. Here's why: there's only so much calcium that can be absorbed without sufficient Vitamin D3 in the body. Vitamin D3 is normally produced after being out in UVB light, in the sun! But the grand majority of indoor pigeons aren't receiving any of that. So you can put them up to their eyeballs in calcium and they can't absorb it.
Other problems that can arise over time include things like Vitamin B deficiencies (very unpleasant to watch, it causes neurological symptoms like head twisting), and uh. [Checks notes]. Cannibalism. Didn't see that one coming did you?
TRL insisted on using an oyster shell only grit and a salt lick a few years back when everything imploded. And she had at least one case of straight up cannibalism. Her excuse at the time was that this bird was a feral. But that's an extremely bad excuse.
Pigeons that don't live in our care can go find whatever their cravings tell them to eat. Eating some dirt from the edge of a parking lot would have provided more minerals than the barely survivable conditions in that loft. You can actually see mourning doves do this, by the way, if you're in the right place at the right time. But there is no reason for a pigeon to resort to cannibalism unless under extreme nutritional deprivation.
(I know people who kept suggesting a complete grit to her, but she never listened. It isn't that she didn't know about it.)
But this post isn't about that. It's about providing what your pigeon needs and knowing how best to fill those man-made gaps. The typical solution I see nowadays is to provide a complete grit like the All in One or Jovati and then supplement with some extra Vitamin D3, as these grits aren't really designed with indoor-only birds in mind.
Further information that is important for you: vitamins break down over time and especially if exposed to light. Store in a cool dark place to preserve them.
(Also, UVB light cannot penetrate glass or other clear solids. Your bird cannot utilize UVB unless there is nothing solid between it and the sun. Windowscreens are fine.)
If you enjoy my posts, please consider tipping me on ko-fi!

It is certainly true that the show has done a lot to force an unbearable climate onto the remaining book fans, but on the other hand you could also wonder - why is such a large part of this remaining book fandom so hell-bent on fanatically supporting the most stupid, toxic ideas we have seen the show to embrace? I would say as stupid as these plot points were, few of the basic, broad ideas Dave and Dan went for were really things they made up all on their own. Mad Queen theories, the distorted view of so many characters like Arya and so on, these all were echoing things a lot of book fans (the type of milieu many of the people in charge of HBO's output were bred in) always WANTED the story and the characters and their trajectory to be, regardless how well founded these wishes matched the actual text.
The show was echoing bad fanon rooted in the book scene more or less from the beginning, you can trace it directly to how some characters were presented and castings were chosen right from the start. That's also why if you listen more closely to so many of the less bearable people in the book scene, the REAL problem so many of them had with the ideas of the latter parts of the show was that it was done in such a way that the public thought it was trash and didn't accept it. The whole agenda of them is now hoping for the books to emerge as some better written version of the show that finally will convince them all that this worthless trash story that is ironically only loved and wanted by these people alone is actually the correct version of it and its characters everyone should finally accept and digest. As ridiculous as the show was, ironically the most ridiculous parts of it were in truth clumsily made fan service for the worst sentiments that were peddled by and nurtured within the book fandom.
Oh, for sure. Thank you for this ask because you have put into words something that has been turning in my head for a long time.
the REAL problem so many of them had with the ideas of the latter parts of the show was that it was done in such a way that the public thought it was trash and didn't accept it.
After almost a year on tumblr and observing the book fandom and reading the BNFs' metas and theories and fanons and briefly delving into reddit and twitter god forbid, I have to say that I agree with you. I can't say how it was in the past though, I wasn't here. But I am afraid it is exactly as you say it is. I mean, Dany's arc from a hero to a fallen hero to a villain because *she watched her abusive brother die without an emotional reaction, psychopath!*, Jon just randomly exiled beyond the Wall because *subverting expectations*, none of them becoming King/Queen of the Seven Kingdoms/KINT, not even BRIEFLY, not even during the War for the Dawn (ok Jon did), because *throne bAAAAD*, *they're not heroes no one can fix Westeros*, *monarchy bAAAAD*, *subverting expectations*, Sansa getting girlbossified because *subverting expectations*, all of these points that ****supposedly*** sucked in GoT, are the exact same theories shared by a very big and very loud part of the BNF here, if not the majority.
So, what exactly is the internet fandom's problem with the show? Is there any? I literally can't see it, except that it was done too quickly and thus made these stupid theories appear even more stupid than they initially were. I've seen a LOT of posts saying like "oh you should stop wishing for your fav to get the throne, no one will get the throne and no one is 'in the right' (especially in the fire and blood discourse), no one 'deserves' it, the throne will crush and burn, the show has done so much damage to the fandom pitting favs against each other for the throne" etc etc, but that's so funny to me because what they say will happen in the books is literally what happened in the show, at least roughly, and their vibe was the vibe of a huge part, if not the majority, of the show fandom. This super annoying nihilism that I see in (book) BNF right now is the exact.same.nihilism I remember from the show fandom. The exact same one, but with a faux-feminist rosey Stansa touch. That's it. From the "Your heros will not get the throne, losers, Littlefinger will kill them all and prevail, the end" show-only dudebro rationale we went to the "oh nobody can fix Westeros, Dany and Jon will sacrifice themselves (best case, worst case Dany will get all psycho like her daddy and bros), monarchy Targs BAD, Targ feudal system BAD, fuck the Targ lords, team small folk, only coincidentally my fav bbgrl Sansa will actually end up in a conventional and strictly feudal position of power uwu, the end". The common denominator? Nihilism and this obsession for subverting expectations. This parallel is even funnier with hotd, where the show's most non-sensical, straight up delulu plot points are whole-heartedly embraced by, again, a big and very loud part of the BNF (probably the majority). This time the concordance is direct and not even denied, and it's embarrassing when I see their half-ass attempts at criticizing the show, because they literally can't. They actually love it and it's so obvious.
So to get to your point, there are two possibilities here: either the show's nihilistic, faux-edgy, shock value-based direction irrevocably transformed the book fandom, or the book fandom was already in that mindset and the show was based on that and it could very well be the latter.

I’ve been looking a lot into giftedness recently and noticed your blog has a lot of really helpful information on it. I was was wondering if you have any examples of symptoms for giftedness, since I have a hard time understanding what people mean when they just write “you have x symptom which means y” in their articles TwT I need to actually read examples or else I don’t get it, and you seem to be pretty knowledgeable
okay. I've had this ask for I kid you not. months. and you will find extremely ironic how the fact that I've been pushing it away for long is an example of giftedness symptoms!!! lemme explain
I first got this ask and the first thing I did was think "oh shit, how am I supposed to do THAT, this question is too broad, there's no specific goal, I don't know the way you learn so I can't really predict the best way to explain it so it's easier to digest, and how do I try to explain giftedness without seeming tokenizing or coming off as giftie embassador when I'm just a guy" mind you I found all these variables on information right after reading it. like a few seconds only after reading it. like all the wrong lightbulbs turned on at the same time except that it was telling me a thousand variables on how to approach a problem that seemed to have no end
so, I pushed it away because, as it turns out, this is an "open task"(referring to intellectual tasks in this whole post btw)
open tasks are a very interesting symptom I don't think I've ever talked about here so let me see if it makes sense
for giftie people, we have this little thing called "latent inhibition deficit" which is basically "hierarchy on sensory processing is not there" all sounds, lights, colors, movements, breezes, textures, smells... they're all important and interesting, so you pay attention to everything. we see the big picture first for better or for worse, because we connect it all together automatically
this is not just in a sensory perception level, but also a cognitive/intellectual one!!! which means that ALL knowledge is connected, all knowledge is important and it must all be taken into account at all times
an open task is asking someone who sees a whole ecosystem working at the same time to "talk about ants"
what part of ants? they biology? social interactions? contribution to other species? what species do they harm? what SPECIES of ants are we even talking about? are we referring to a specific anthill or ALL the anthills of the entire ecosystem? the list goes on and on, you begin connecting ants with their behaviors and jump to mention anteaters predation tendencies, only to jump against to talk about which trees and plants usually feed off of anteaters when they die, or what fungi could invade decomposing bodies that could eventually turn into a pest on the ecosystem, congrats! in ten minutes you talk about the dangers of deforestation and lack of biodiversity on pest control
you were just asking about ants for a 2 sentence answer on a homework
in fact, I JUST did it!!! I started to talk about giftedness for a metaphor and ended up talking about climate change!
so you can already tell that this question is, at best, impossible for me to truly answer, because it's an open task.
you're giving me a blank page to work on with no specific limits, too many variables to count on and wait for a response that i Can't Really Give, because how can I know im telling you what you need to know to understand it? the only option left is to tell you every single point from every single view from every single possibility until it is insufferably long. just to see if my point comes across
so, giftedness is very characterized by too many connections too quickly too intensely in just one person's head organ, and open tasks where a non giftie might find a "long enough" point rather intuitively, it becomes overwhelming at best for us
think about it like autistic/adhd infodumping, but for EVERYTHING, EVERYWHERE, ALL THE TIME
wanting to go deeper onto every detail while showing how everything is connected and moving and unstoppable and forever expanding in knowledge. that's fun! but impractical on the long run
so if an open task is fun but extremely overwhelming, is there a way to counter it? OF COURSE!!!!! THAT'S A CLOSED TASK!!!!
closed tasks that have the benefit of limits!! They feel nice because they are more clear, concrete and manageable!!!
go back to ants. don't ask me to just talk about ants, ask me about what is my favorite thing about red fire ants, or what benefits there are for ant mimicry in animals like jumping spiders!!!
woah, that's a relief, I can focus on one thing that doesn't feel overwhelming, stressful and impossible to explain or even BEGIN, and those around me aren't tired or confused by my attempts at doing so
for this question I had to spend however many months has this been in my inbox overwhelmed because every time I read it I thought "that's TOO much" until I remembered about open and closed tasks and thought how ironic it was that I am in this exact situation about not being able to explain my giftedness BECAUSE of my giftedness.
so I had to make my own closed task to answer to this, and as you can see, the closed task is talking about open and closed tasks!!!!!!!
I'd call this a fun three birds with one stone because not only I got to finally answer this in a way that reflects personal experience and I got to talk about something I haven't before, but ALSO I learned that maybe !!!! I can make my own closed tasks!!!!!! which is hard because I'm learning, but it helps me manage these types of situations instead of.... mental breakdowns and 5 minutes of explaining to my teachers why their two sentence homework couldn't be done because it had too many variables
so em, thanks for asking!!!! and sorry for taking so long !!!!!!!!!!
I have all my info posts about giftedness tagged so if u need more info I hope it helps !!!! again this is very specific considering all the research done on different sides of our experiences, but I hope it's a good start :)

Worst story entries
Tumblr media
Comics dot org lists off seven reprints, and given the spotty record for the digests there are almost certainly at least two more not listed in the conspicuously empty eighties. The story notably gets reprinted in IDW's 'The Best of Samm Schwartz" volume and in "Archie's Favorite High School Comics", presumably a book that curates favored stories more so than the "fill the volume" digests. And why not? Check out this dialogue that snaps!
Tumblr media
There are some weaknesses or limitations with Bart Beatty in his closing of the source material to the price point of twelve cents, with nary a venture beyond. A section on the disappearing "R" sweater puzzles over its re-apparance, not knowing that his citations to the first issues of Betty and Me were reprints. This decision to declare this random tension-free story the worst Archie story seems arbitrary against a smattering of other irritatingly flat narrative -- many with worse art. Moving on into this century, this guy has an entry for more than a dime and two pennies.
Meh. I don't feel dead after reading it. Granted I don't feel alive either. I can't say that I know what Rose is going for, but I can see what would be the sources of humor for a hypothetical story. The only thing it has over (under?) a wide assortment of stilted drawn out malfunctioning Archie narratives is the length. Because you were often in some fraught territory with the first slot of the digests -- at best a place for holdover post retirement Samm Schwartz stories and where a Dan Parent could get some work in. At worst -- well, that is where they stuck the "New Look" series of stories -- before ditching the part of that concept that was bad and indeed creating compelling enough long form stories. But the big problem here is the 12 pages instead of 6 leaves one less spot for some vintage Harry Lucey story or something.
A more positive looking at something categorically, here is a fanboy gushing on his favorite "Archie Comics book cover gag".
youtube
His reason seems to come down to "Betty looks hot". (All right, yes, he does mention composition and eye movement.) I am a little puzzled by his hyperbolic description of Archie's response -- there are more cartoonishly exaggerated horny boy reaction shots, this pales in comparison to ... well, this is tied with a whole mass of other entries for my number one. This cover's Archie pose is rather sedate on that score.

i'm not gonna reblog this post because it is overall quite good and i just have a nitpick with this part but actually the way the body processes food is pretty much combustion. like it produces CO2 and water from hydrocarbons. that's all combustion is.
food (kilo)calories are also just a measure of energy present in the food. you'll notice if you go to europe that the big label at the top of nutrition facts says Energy and not Calories. but actually, all levels on nutrition facts are theoretical; you are not going to necessarily absorb all the iron, protein, or ascorbic acid in the food either, but the amount present there is still labeled.
a calorie is defined as the measure of energy it takes to heat 1 g of water up 1 degree celsius. why we use that (x1000) to measure food calories is because a number of foods are mostly water, and so are you, but your body is of course measured in kg so it's useful to use kcal. also calorimetry measures energy of complete combustion by the change in temperature of water surrounding the combustion; many bond dissociation energies are reported in kcal/mol still rather than kJ/mol. we use bomb calorimeters because if we don't allow the internal volume to change, we can get a more accurate estimate of bond dissociation energy. calorimetry is not a hack nutritionist's plot against you, but simply the best measure we have of measuring the energy present in materials. we cannot know exactly what's in food structurally or even chemically, so we can't run molecular dynamics simulations to estimate the energies present in catabolism.
now, are energies measured by bomb calorimetry misleading as to how your body processes food? yes. your body does perform combustion on anything it can break down into glucose and co., but it doesn't necessarily perform complete combustion. some small amounts of carbon monoxide are produced in the digestive tract due to this, even! it depends on the type of food you eat how completely it combusts. for example, if you eat a tablespoon of sugar, it'll probably be processed into almost all the calories, whereas if you eat a tablespoon of rye with the same amount of theoretical glucose, it probably won't. this is a significant gripe i have with the quote unquote health food industry, actually- a lot of things are estimated as having higher amounts of accessible calories than they really have, so people end up calorie-cutting by labels in order to diet but then it's compounded by the fact that a number of the calories are entirely inaccessible. so if you calorie-cut to 1600 kcal/day but you're only eating fruits, vegetables, ancient grains, and lean meat, you're probably processing those "1600 kcal" into 1300 or less kcal!
but kilocalories aren't the only misleading thing on food labels, and while eyeballing nutrition facts can help you get enough of essential nutrients like vitamin A and K and the like, in many cases it won't be in the most easily accessible form, so you might malnourish yourself. iron is a big problem here, and why i recommend impossible foods so much to people who are vegetarian and especially vegan; heme is one of the few types of iron that the human body can process, so that impossible foods contain it without being meat makes them extremely important to a non-iron-supplemented vegetarian diet. anyway, digression aside, are the beauty and food industries intentionally being misleading about how accurate kcal are? almost certainly. is the utilization of the kilocalorie (and bomb calorimetry generally) for measurement of energy in foods due to this? almost certainly not.
(P.S.: if you'd like to know why your body isn't constantly on fire due to the fact that you're combusting all the time, that would be because thermodynamics of combustion (a reaction where the products are ludicrously heavily favored) are distinct from the kinetics of combustion commonly (in the atmosphere with so much available oxygen, the rate laws dictate that combustion goes really fast. in your body with enzymatic processes, it goes fairly slowly). everything that can combust is combusting, just very slowly, from paper to gas to sugar- if you leave glucose out in the air, it'll slowly slowly slowly burn even without heat applied; the enzymes in your body get over that initial heat/energy barrier, though, and burn it quicker. however, since there's no continual heat applied, it won't set off a chain chemical reaction and burn very quickly unless something's extremely wrong with your body. eat your antioxidants)

12, 27, 42, 46 for the fic writer asks
12. How does receiving or not receiving feedback/support impact you?
i could try to pretend that it doesn't matter to me if people read my stuff or not, but that would be a lie. i think maybe it's more... by this point i've had years and years of posting fic and people being extremely sweet and kind and encouraging about it, and that has absolutely had an impact both in terms of keeping me posting more fic and the ways i view my own writing (and how i view myself, i think, especially pre-ao3. i'm pretty sure people online telling me i was funny played a not insignificant part in building any sense of self-worth as a deeply awkward kid irl in high school), and having all of that history and experience, at this point i have the luxury of not caring about the numbers that much. comments are always very awesome, but if any particular fic would end up getting ignored completely for whatever reason, that's okay. i'm not writing for max engagement (i've made some hilariously terrible decisions lately if that's what i'm going for), but that doesn't take away that people being excited about a thing i made remains a really really nice benefit to how the fandom ecosystem works.
though i will also note, i don't think there's a single thing wrong with wanting or needing feedback or support to your writing. i frequently feel extremely spoiled in that regard, because i've been around for so long and my output in that time has been so high on average that i know people know my name, and i also write pretty easily digestible uncontroversial stuff generally speaking no matter what fandom i'm in at the time, so the responses i'm getting are oftentimes not the average, and i'm very aware of that. it's much, much harder getting started in fandom.
-
27. What is your most and least favorite part of writing?
ooooh. i mean, most favorite is easy, and probably a fairly universal answer, which is that moment when the writing flows nicely and it feels right and i get to put down at least a few paragraphs in a row (maybe even more!) without it feeling like any effort at all. least favorite is probably the opposite - when it just Won't Work, and every sentence feels clunky and awkward and overwrought, like there's just no way to bridge whatever tiny gap in a story i'm probably trying to fill at the time. the goofiest thing about that is that when reading things back later there's often not too much actual difference between the quality of the writing when it feels good vs. when it feels bad, because the problem is in my head, but it's also my head that needs to do the writing, so that doesn't make it less of an obstacle.
-
42. What’s the last fic you read? Do you recommend it?
Centrefolds / Distal Breaks by @redgoldblue, which i read because @redgoldblue wrote it, because i would absolutely recommend anything written by @redgoldblue.
-
46. How would you describe your style? (Character/emotion/action-driven, etc)
ha, anything but action- or plot-driven, i think. characters, emotions, characters having emotions, emotions to explore characters - that's my wheelhouse.
and on the topic of writing style: i've gotten a comment a few times (as a compliment! nothing bad about this) that said something to the effect that my writing is pleasantly economical or sparse, which frankly baffled me for a while, because right from the very very start i was writing mostly about relationships (whether friendship, romance, family), and not very much really happens in my stories (the traditional way, action or plotwise), so from my point of view almost everything was fluff and just sort of... not superfluous, and definitely not meaningless (there's a lot of meaning to feelings!), but a sort of deleted scene extra part to canon. those are some of the first responses i got to my work: i can't believe i read this many words about almost nothing happening, and i really liked it! so filler, i guess, might be the best word for it, and obviously "all of this is filler" and "this is a very economical use of words" is inherently contradictory, except, well. is it? it took me a while to, i guess, internalize, that when the goal is feelings and exploring characters, doing that in an effective way is going straight to the point.

i had a whole rant typed out like 2 days ago that i made while emotional but it will rot in my drafts forever now because i have now spent the required amount of time in the timeout corner and properly digested my emotions to come back and make a fresh new post
idk what corporate girly out there slaving in front of a laptop needs to hear this AGAIN, because i certainly have heard this before but subconsciously dismissed it because Surely That Won't Happen To I, but it DID so i am now yelling at you from the other side
DONT FUCKING TRUST YOUR MANAGER!!!!!!!!! the nuance here is that YES they can be nice, and they can 100% be the best person ever, and they might not even consciously manipulate you. but you are never safe from subconscious manipulation or just straight up incompetence.
if your manager does their job well, it means you are manipulated. BUT if they do their job BAD, you STILL get manipulated!! this is because even if they are incompetent, you will always end up bridging the gap for their incompetence and it will weigh you down and you will NEVER get credit for your work. in fact, you are in danger on both ends of the spectrum - if you manager is good, they'll take credit for your work. if your manager is bad, they'll STILL take credit for your work AND make you suffer for it because they won't even have the skills at least get you the reward you deserve.
ive spent the last 3 years under my do-nothing manager always giving him the benefit of the doubt, "oh he's just a silly lil guy this is his first management job he doesnt know what hes doing" type shit, and i have nothing but stress and resentment to show for it.
i have LITERALLY been DOING HIS JOB FOR HIM. i revamped our meetings, i put sprint processes in place, i drew our team scope/borders and weighed in on who should staff projects. and on TOP of that i did tech lead and regular ic work. i was doing both my job and at least 50% of his because im not a fucking manager and theres only so much i can do.
but all this time my actual skill set as an engineer is deteriorating because ive been begging for mentorshop/coaching since day one i joined the team, which is 100% the manager's job to coach and level up their engineers, but these needs were completely ignored in favor of me trying to get this dumb fucking team together because my manager literally does nothing. he doesn't do his fucking job, and he gets away with it because he has high soft skill!!!! his boss likes him!!! so he will not be punished!!!!!!
i on the other hand am severely punished because i have revealed my hand as a do-all "superstar", im the one that gets 3 projects with the same deadline that i have to do all by myself, im the one thats expected to do all my work and more AND i am the one that takes the brunt of flack when external teams are ultimately disappointed that the deadlines are not met. i get no protection from any of this shit because my manager is fucking incompetent and refuses to step up. whether he consciously or subconsciously does this DOES NOT MATTER!!!! you will ALWAYS eat it at the bottom line!!!
treat your manager like your enemy, never trust them. size them up in your first few 1:1s to see how much they can do for you in terms of your career. if they are NOT delivering results within the first 2-3 months, CLOCK OUT!!!!!! decenter work from your life, shut the laptop at 5pm sharp, put in your bare minimum to not get canned and turn your brain off from all work problems. sometimes the corporate grind is worth it but ONLY if you have someone competent managing you and they are smart enough to recognize that engineers under them need reward and respect to be retained. if they won't or can't retain you, just let it happen!!!! dont overextend yourself it's never worth it
obv im yelling this from my jail cell as a software engineer so idk how much of this is applicable to other fields, but that's my two cents. i have spent way too much time being upset and angry these last few weeks to not vent about it. if this applies to you, pls save yourself the heartache and learn the skill of decentering work for when it comes in handy. im not advocating for indiscriminate quiet quitting bc that can actually be harmful to your financials, but the art of quiet quitting should still be mastered for when the appropriate time arises. use your discretion

hi there, I've been very active in researching OSDD/DID for the last few years, and it came to be that around July of 2022 I realized how many applications and descriptions fit my experience. I/we don't experience amnesia, but do experience high degrees of trance-like dissociation and DPDR regularly. I/we identify as an OSDD system, and have distinctive parts/alters, who have their own body awareness, personalities, interacting with the world, and their own names, if exclusively identified.
The problem is that there is a huge amount of imposter syndrome, and self-invalidation, since we don't remember any significant trauma that would cause such a brain thing to happen. The only things we can remember are instances of emotional invalidation (and altercations ending in panic attacks from a young age) due to caregivers figures not realizing we're autistic, or how to help us. But that doesn't feel like it's enough. With all the searching we've done, we can't recover anything more specific as a recurring trauma. It hurts, and feels like we are invalid as a system, and that without something more significant there's no way we could have developed this way.
Is this enough, depending on how the brain dealt with distress? Should we keep searching for repressed trauma?
TLDR; Imposter syndrome due to lack of trauma rememberance, and what is remembered feels "too light".
Yikes.. imposter syndrome is already a pain in the ass to deal with. I'll try my best to explain multiple things to you and all ya got to do is digest all of these and do the tips i write below ok? (long post bare with me)
Following the order, let's start with the syndrome itself. This can make a distrust between you and the memories/severity you have known,, having the mindset of seeing 'worthiness' in a simple scale (of not bad to bad enough) won't cut it apparently. First you must understand that you're easy to miss the whole point which is acknowledging you have these unpleasant memories, and that is the only proof needed.
Secondly, self invalidation hits people right in the gut. Everytime. While you can't stop it from throwing punches, you can actually learn how to dodge. In this case where invalidation is trying to beat you up hard anytime,, it's time to implement the concept of worth and acceptance. By understanding that everyone has its own worth (and the same degree/amount) and even for you, that'll dodge an uppercut of "your struggles are nothing compared to others" which is much better than getting your jaw hit and halfway in the process of understanding the truth (because it lies all the time). Having acceptance that despite how 'small' or 'not really bad' traumatic experiences makes you dodge another jab punch,, invalidation hates this as it tries to put you down for good and you're going against it. Like boxing, it takes practice to create a counterattack and be fast in dodging so if you got hit once in a while, get up again, you're doing great,, beat that shit to pulp with consistency.
Thirdly, for repressed trauma/memories. I think of this sometimes, i, myself is also aware we still have many to uncover but that isn't always the important thing to dig for. How can one be sure that it has CDD? By knowing it has one already, in fact (the presenting symptoms and struggles around it, as well as history of when it happened). Finding traces is not easy and takes lot of time,, just as an investigation case where some deed had happened (cdd) and you're tasked to understand what process/action had led to this cause by looking for clues (repressed memories) and even if you, the detective have gained profound evidence (pieces of memories, etc). Because you weren't in the crime scene or whoever was involved in the deed,, not knowing the full chronology, series of events and reasons is perfectly alright. What im telling is that you don't need to see the full picture to determine something,, with enough clues that serves as concrete evidence, it had already been sufficient.
Lastly, i say you should not chase for memories as its counterintuitive. Like taming a cat, you can't catch it that way,, and so it works similarly with this. The more you heal on yourself and other parts, it'll uncover by itself and im sure of it. So you don't have to chase anymore because it's bound to come by itself, just like a cat.
I also made this simple graph on how your issues affect each other and its outcome in my own understanding,, by having awareness that this is creating a loop, you are bound to escape/break it easier. The writings are not dyslexic-friendly so im kinda sorry on that..
Tumblr media
This hopefully covers up everything what you're questioning and the presented struggles as well, so, i now wish you luck and feel free to come back and tell me your progress.

Hell yeah! Would love to hear about your ocs!
Tumblr media
Oh damn, I was dead for a while, and didn't realize there's such a demand. Alright anon, for you, I'll share some. I have way too many to list all of them, but here's the most used ones. I don't think I'll post pictures yet because I'm very selective on where I post art I commission, but maybe later. Posted under read more because of length.
Leona MacAonghis - My first ever vorish OC, and has a special place in my heart. She's a goliath fighter that started as a D&D character but later got used on other things, and I am in the process of trying to write a story featuring her. She's a typical excitable young hero that tries to do good and help everyone, even if her appetite often gets in the way. Her mentor is extremely disapproval of predators so she couldn't develop her natural abilities when studying under him, but he eventually accepts that part of her, and after she strikes off on her own she starts to train her very high vorish potential too. Physically, she's 2.75 meters (9 legs) tall, with fair skin, green eyes and a red ponytail. Her body type is muscular and curvy with healthy amounts of body fat, and like most of my OCs she has sharp teeth because why not.
Seraph - Lazily named seraph oc, the excuse is that her true name is impossible for mortals to comprehend. She's para-causal in nature and her true form can't exist in the material world, but she can interact with the material realm through an avatar body she creates. She has no physical sex, but chooses to present herself and identify as female. Seraph serves a deity that spends most of it's time in solitude, minding it's own business, so most of the work managing it's realm of creation falls onto her and her fellow celestials. After several billion years of service in the highest planes, she eventually got bored, and curiosity drives her to explore the universe, where she learned from the entities and phenomena she encounters. Most of all she gains an appreciation for mortals, and yearns to understand them, and get close to them in any way she can. She ends up also learning a few vices, primarily gluttony, and has gotten addicted to eating. She solves most of her problems with her mouth, and also prefers to learn about new things by ingesting them. Seraph has a tragic and lengthy backstory in one of her iterations, but I'm too lazy to go into it here.
Lurk/"The Knight" - my self-insert persona and the character in the PFP, a large knight in full white plate armour carrying a greatsword. Mostly exists to be eaten by women I find attractive, including my own or my friends' ocs, but occasionally I do serious stuff with him. Has no concrete backstory.
Betty - former enforcer bot that grew a personality, rebelled, and transed her gender. Now mostly serves herself, but will occasionally still protect her city from threats to fund her illegal body modifications. Purposely replaced her normal batteries with a matter assimilation reactor that acts as a digestive system, and feeds primarily on humans and their property. Because I'm a degenerate and also she exists in a superhero setting, she will sometimes eat a giant monster however, and can temporarily grow larger to fight them because I like mecha stuff.
I have a lot more, but I got lazy. I'll share about them later, this post is already very long overdue.
