see here’s the thing. i hate drama, always have. like legitimately, i avoid getting involved in online shit as much as possible, and i’m pretty successful. only time i’ll ever get into shit is if someone i love gets into shit because i’m very “if you find yourself in a lion’s den i’ll jump right in and pull my pin and go with you” (hi clique). or if there’s a power imbalance or someone seems to be struggling i’ll dm them for a mental health check. but i go out of my way to avoid drama, especially phannie drama, because despite all of this community’s growth, the drama that happens is still the same energy as when we were hormonal emotionally dysregulated kids. that’s why being on phannie twitter sucked so much for that 5 month period where i was shadowbanned on here and had to take refuge on twitter. i had almost exclusively lovely interactions because as i said i avoid getting into shit, but the thing with twitter is there’s no way to avoid seeing the drama, and it would literally ruin my day. like you open the app and there it is. you get notified for posts from accounts you don’t follow because the algorithm thrives off of rage bait bla bla bla.

tumblr is infinitely better, but i still see drama on here sometimes, however hard i try to avoid it, and i just keep scrolling, because i’m an adult. regardless of being an adult and of not looking into it further, it does give me a sinking feeling and a bitter taste in my mouth.

the point of this post is not a phannie drama retrospective or psychoanalysis (just deleted a large chunk of this post because i automatically started going down that path lmao). it’s this: sometimes it dawns on me how much we really act like we’re all siblings trying to make each other behave as to not upset our parents. like the policing of reactions to that fuckass ig photo of phil (you’re all so unrelatable btw that photo made me so mad bc i don’t wanna see that shit and yall were thirsting about it for a week. betrayal of the highest degree.) was annoying and unnecessary but it was also soooo “STOOOPPPP MUM AND DAD ARE GONNA SEE THIS AND THEN WE’LL ALL GET IN TROUBLE”, and that’s what most phannie discourse is. a lot of time we’re aware of that and it’s funny, but more often, we get wrapped up in drama itself and no one is having a good time.

tldr, when you see drama, and feel anxious, don’t look at it as adults screaming at each other. look at it as siblings having a slap fight because if mum and dad see what we did to the sofa then they’re gonna blame ALL of us and we’ll get out kindles taken away :(

Slowly working on reuploading my art from Instagram to here, I no longer feel motivated to post on Instagram since Meta sucks and so does its app and algorithm. I'm not happy on a platform that constantly works against me as an artist.

I know I'll have to work on gaining an audience here, but I'm willing to work for it since it might be better for me in the long run.

Anyway, this art piece is a dragon AU design of a friend's OC on Ig. I'm very proud of it because I haven't drawn dragons in a really long time and I think I did a decent job. I added an uncoloured version so you can appreciate the linework as well.

I saw your discussions about dislike buttons and ratings and criticism, and I felt the need to come here because partly I'm worried about your feelings and partly because you unintentionally behave very destructively in fandom.

I saw that you are worried that you don't get criticism. That is because (thankfully) we finally almost fully eliminated that from fandom ethics! You asked why is that, well, people here write and create for completely FREE, so it's quite unethical to talk bad about that, but also most of them writes to have a good time, this is a hobby, not a commercial activity, not something we depend on! If someone at the store smiles at you to be nice, you don't tell them that you think their teeth look ugly.

This is why nobody on ao3 tells you if your writing sucks. BUT! You can ask for it! Just write in the notes, that you really want to get constructive criticism, you will probably get it then. (But I also want to remind you, that this is probably not the best for you. Firstly, your writing is probably not that bad, secondly those people aren't professionals either, and last, but not least, the best way your writing can get better is writing more and more and more, and read, read, read, plus use fantastic writing tips you can find on Tumblr, that way, you can improve on a positive basis instead of a negative one.) But ruining a whole platform for this, where most writers don't want any negative feedback is quite self centered. Especially that a dislike button doesn't help at all. Why did they dislike it? It was horrible? The ending was horribe? The pacing? Just the characters? They just stupid crazy ship haters? They just hate your Tumblr? They were just drunk? They accidentally hit it? Just ask for criticism in the notes, or better, get a beta reader.

Then I saw that you want algorithm and ratings. Same goes for ratings as for dislikes, most people come here to have a good time, not to be performative and worry about ratings.

And algorithm... sigh... where to start. (Step zero: you can filter by number of kuddos/comments/hits, if you want to read only popular fics so badly.) Algorithms don't always work well. My friend sends me one reel on IG about a topic I have never interacted with before, I watch it, no more interaction, then for a whole week I have to hit the 'not interested' on this topic. Algorithm can also make the site experience flat and boring, and in extreme cases it can create a harmful echo chamber for only seeing the same stuff. Most people are tired of this on all social media. Algorithms don't show you the best stuff either, they show you either similar stuff you interacted with (so you get fics on the same ship, but who knows the quality), or stuff that is popular, but an awful fic can have the best description leading to thousands clicking on it. Also, a fic that is loved by many can be bad too. The most popular fic in my ship is absolute bullshit, the whole community agrees on it, but people who are not really familiar with the source think it's funny and cool. And vica versa, there are hidden gems that aren't popular because the author posted it the wrong time, or is bad at descriptions, or deals with an uncomfortable topic. With a For You page, you would miss the majority of good things, and so many people wouldn't get the recognition they deserve. It would also became awfully performative, everybody would write the same thing, because they see that the algorithm favours that, isn't IG already full of the exact same trend again and again?

And about the worst. "People deserve to read only the best of fics". NO NO NO. I mean. Of course everyone wants to read good fics. But what is good? I can't believe that we still have to point out that it's all subjective, the majority of fics will be ambigous to the general audience, only a few are viewed overwhelmingly as good or bad. Also, there are fics that may have poor language or bad pacing etc., but have a fantastic story that totally worth it. There are also awful fics, but there was this one I read that was horrible, but one single little idea was so good in it, that it totally worth it for me. Also, again, this is a hobby, most writers do it for the fun of writing, and for the happiness that it is may enjoyed by readers, they don't have to know that no one reads it, because it was classified as bad. And most importantly: if we do this, we will slowly loose fanfiction. Already good writers will go away or die out, and there won't be new ones. Why? Because most writers start out bad. They are teens with cringe ideas, or foreign speakers of the language, or only starting to get to know the original material. Most writers got better through writing more and more, rereading their own stuff, reading other fics, having fandom discussions. If for years they are told that their fics are awful, they will stop writing. Who wants to spend time writing for free to get told it's shit?

(Btw writers still want to get better, that's all they talk about, there is really no need to reorganize the whole fandom to "encourage" them...)

Tldr: want criticism? Ask for. Don't like something? Stfu and move.

I just want to get better. Basically if I had people say my writing was bad and offensive, I'd just delete it and make something better! I don't want to bother anyone, and if people just said my stuff was bad, I'd stop writing it forever and make people not feel like they have to read garbage. I want to make only good stuff for Fandom, so why would I write bad things?

I'm a new writer, but I don't want to turn into a bad one!

It seems to be similar as before for me but on Twitter holy fuck is it like really really dead (at least the interactions are) I can’t tell if people are just more inactive or just don’t interact w art as much as before + dranart is like gone most of the month so my posts barely even hit likes and interactions as it did before which feels like a punch in the gut for sure I don’t want to sound ungreatful in ANY way btw hope I don’t sound like that😭😭 I think most artists and writers are going thru it rn I hear that their interactions keep getting dropped like 50% every week it’s so sad

Dream fanart pivoting to liking random shitposts and tweets from stan accounts definitely killed their impact because now their likes hold very little importance AND we can't even see them any more 😭😭😭 so that also sucked and it just happened to be during a time where reach and sharing was low to begin with. Certainly hope that activity resumes with more content but idk I think ultimately we need to remind the fandom how much supporting others really helped everyone and uplifts the fandom "functionings"

Hii! I've been following you for a few weeks and I have to say your reasoning is quite impressive. As far as I've read your blog, I've seen how you have an open mind, that tkk could be just a friendship and it's upto ppl how to interpret. Also, you don't hate on jimin or other members.

I started following bts last year around feb. Basically I'm a baby army as fandom calls it. And I have to say that taekook was forced on my feed (ig algorithm yk), I must've liked or viewed some reels from tkk accounts. Both of them are really adorable and lovable so i casually liked them.

Anyways, what I'm trying to say is that even tho I was trying not to get sucked into the rabbit hole, I eventually did because there was something abt them that stuck with me. After watching fan edits on YT i saw many moments bw them that could be seen as them being more than friends (I saw the original content of such moments as well for better context and not basing my opinion on a 2 sec slomo video). But it was also clear to me that there are weird tkks out there (every Fandom has their own toxic fans) who were trying to push some moments as them being a couple but those moments are just them being cute and wholesome towards each other or there were moments created out of thin air, complete bs.

But some of the analysis videos made me THINK and see tkk from a different lens. So, I tried to make sense of it all. I watched many bts run (fell for bts harder than ever because they're all absolute cuties) and other content to understand their dynamic and they seem the closest to me which led ppl to ship them (obviously lol). There were instances where Tae & jk would not seem so close and kinda annoyed or uncomfortable but they're humans, normal ppl with a range of emotions. Nonetheless, they stand out no matter how much I try to deny it myself.

Trust me I've been in other fandoms and casually shipped many pairs but this is somehow different. They're too soft with each other. Like their body language changes when they're together?? I've yet to see a video of jk disrespecting Tae or vice versa. If there is one I want to see it to paint a clearer picture. I've seen them banter, they have chemistry and their eyes linger quite a lot.

Also the whole jkk and tkk debate I'm aware of. If I may say that after watching the ays episodes, it was clear to me that jk behaved very differently with jimin and tae. And from this content alone i could see that jm and jk are platonic. It seems to me that way. Why would a closeted queer couple go on a trip that will be filmed for the whole world to see? This alone does not make sense at all regardless of anything. And them going into same military unit in a country like South Korea... like??? I am unable to understand this.

I'm open to accept anything logical and understand different perspectives.

Maybe I'm biased or completely wrong. I will never know the whole truth and I'm trying to be fine with it, still struggling tho.

What I want to ask is what is one (or more) undeniable proof that has no other explanation other than taekook being real? even if we try to come up with an alternate theory it would seem lukewarm and logic less.

Just to clarify, I do personally think it’s likely they are together. I can understand not being sure though, and I can certainly understand the confusion when you’re still new. I can even understand thinking they’re not together, but experience tells me those conversations are a bit harder to maintain. I know there’s a possibility I am wrong though, I just think it’s unlikely 😂.

Fandom is a whole experience imo. There are many different sides and even amongst the different sides there are different sides. Jkk vs Tkk makes things very difficult and often toxic. I think I changed my approach to Jkkrs somewhere before AYS dropped. It just became too wild imo.

I don’t think there is undeniable proof.. but the thing that for me comes closest is probably Tae wearing the Sweetheart shirt at Bruno Mars that Jk wore (most likely the same day) during the filming of his mv. I personally feel there’s no platonic explanation for that. I’m sure some will say ‘coincidence’ or ‘support of his bro-pal or whatever. But I think that was definitely more. But also some of the looks. I mean.. the way Jk kept looking at Tae during the vminkook live.. that stare!

For me the strongest proof is their consistency. The sheer volume of moments and the consistency in which they take place.
