Ok I’m thinking maybe when he shows up she’s obviously freaked out but like she doesn’t wanna show it cause maybe pope opened up in his letters a bit about idk his struggles and insecurities and so she’s freaked out and is thinking “ok this guy is def a freak BUT I can’t let him know I’m feeling like that” she doesn’t wanna make him feel bad or run off. You said she’s a nurse which can lend into her having experience with people struggling who need help so she knows how to approach things with sensitivity and empathy so she’s trying to do that with poor while also like being totally freaked and not wanting to put herself in harms way accidentally. But she’s prob also conflicted!! Cause she gets along with him she’s close with him she’s invested in him after years of letters back and forth so she’s tryna balance all these feelings and perceptions of Pope that she’s experiencing.

omg 10000% i love this. THANK YOU FOR RAMBLING🩷 i literally stopped writing exactly at the part where he shows up, but i think this is so accurate. i mean realistically of course she would be freaking out. she does think about him pretty often, she did think he was cute in the 30 second video she watched before she picked him to write the letter to. she did connect with him over dozens of letters, spilled about her life and worries and concerns and probably read the letters where he'd tell her that she's gonna figure it out and get through it because she's a smart girl like a hundred times. and she is an empath!!! (because we said so). she knows about bits and pieces of his family life, the twin he doesn't talk to, brothers that don't visit him that often. but still, he found her using a couple of old letters and google so she definitely needs to be concerned. she's not stupid, she never put the name of her school or the hospital where she got a job or anything like that, and he still found her. and he was in prison, so she knows she can't just play around like she met him on a dating app or something.

but then she remembers the letters, and how sad he still looks, like he needs a hug really badly, and how they're both quiet but they don't need to talk a lot to understand each other. i mean the way pope talks is so straightforward but he has so many internal thoughts running through his head and it seems a lot quieter when he's sitting there with you while you tend to his hand. and you can't ignore that it still feels like he knows you, even through an almost two year old letter. (like when he asks about the cat you got. if you still are looking for a job in that other department. do you still go to the beach in the morning like when you used to write him letters? so on and so forth..)

idk i think personally it would be so hard not to fall for him i mean kids do not send letters to prisoners and then take them home but in erwinsvow universe... if its pope cody... :)

But now that I’ve reached Book 3, I think I’m growing to appreciate the show alot. And I’m not going to lie: I’ve become so excited when Aiwei appeared the first time on screen. Aww I'm glad I got to infect you with the brainworms! Aiwei is such an interesting character, and I wish we could've learnt more about him. His close realtion to Su, his ability to travel into the spirit world, which is something only few can manage, his involvement with the Red Lotus, it's all so much interesting stuff surrounding a seemingly minor character.

Bryke announcing him as gay out of the blue was also so interesting like do thaey have a backstory for him or did they just arbitrarily decide that lol. Like did they look at his design and were like 'this is too much cunt for a straight man to serve'.

I can also totally emphathise with your time watching tlok. I also stopped watching tlok after B2 for a long while, but picked it up after a few years and fell in love with it, so I can relate lol.

FUN FACT FOR YOU!!! this was like the second(?) wip i ever wrote for this fandom bc i was like GASP. FATHER'S DAY. I HAVE TO WRITE COMADUO FOR THIS and then i proceeded to overthink it and never post BUT RHFJFK i do love it very dearly and I'll probs be able to finish next father's day sooo!

Buck awkwardly stands in front of the restaurant shifting from side to side, and holding the wrapped box that the record lays in. On top of the box is a handmade card with the pun “Words cannot espresso how much you bean to me” written on it with two coffee beans dressed in firefighter gear that looks like a five year old made it. Maddie said it was perfect, Eddie just clapped Buck on the shoulder before walking away to grab them both beers. Buck tried not to overthink it. He thinks Bobby will appreciate the pun at least. He’s still not sure if this is a good idea. He knows Athena told him it is and if anyone knows what it is and isn’t a good idea, she does. She also wouldn’t hold back from being honest with Buck, so Buck knows she truly meant it. He still can’t help the unease that fills his stomach as he waits for them to arrive. Buck hears Bobby’s truck before he sees it round the corner, and he straightens, subconsciously pulling the present closer to him. He can see the exact moment Bobby notices him standing outside the restaurant, eyes widening and turning to look at Athena who simply smiles and mouth moves saying something that Buck can’t hear but can picture anyway. Bobby parks the truck and steps out of the truck, a complicated expression on his face but one that Buck thinks is positive. Before the two of them say anything, Athena pats Bobby on the shoulder. “I’ll be over at the spa with Hen. You two boys have fun now. Don’t worry about picking me up after lunch.” Bobby smiles at her still holding a slightly confused expression and gives her a kiss. “Love you.” “I love you too babe.” And then it’s just him and Buck, who is still holding the present awkwardly in his hands. “Uhm, happy father’s day Bobby.” He says and hands over the gift, still feeling unsure with himself. Bobby’s eyes are wet when he takes it and he snorts at the pun on the card, but otherwise he’s quiet as he reads the inside of the card. When he finishes, he tucks it in his back pocket and then unwraps the present. The entire time Buck holds his breath, hoping it goes well. When Bobby sees the record, his eyes immediately flash to Buck’s and for a moment Buck thinks he’s overstepped and he immediately scrambles to explain himself, “I’m sorry—I know you’re my boss and this is—” Bobby cuts him off by pulling Buck into a tight hug, holding onto him for dear life. They stay there for a while, just holding each other, and while they’ve had many hugs before, this one felt different. It felt impactful. When they pull away, Bobby looks at him with a fond expression. “It’s okay Buck. I… I view you as a son too. It isn’t one sided. You really didn’t have to buy me anything though. This is overkill.” Buck laughs self consciously. “I… I just thought it would be nice. I know you haven’t, uhm, had a good father’s day in a while.” Bobby smiles sadly, before patting him on the shoulder. “Come on kid, let’s go eat.”
