Ok, first off, you were minding your own fucking business, okay? You were actually just doing your own thing for once, not investigating shit, not being a meddling journalist, just vibin on your own. Then everything went black and you woke up in Hisirdoux Casperan’s evil bookstore/lair. Your disappointment was immeasurable, and your day was ruined… well, maybe not ruined. It would all depend on how far you could get under the bastard’s skin.

“Mx. L/N!” he said, spinning around in his stupid fuckin office chair with his cat in his lap like a god damned James Bond villain, “We meet again.”

“Uh huh, hey, would it kill you to wash the chloroform cloth? It smelled like chloroform.”

He ignored your redundant statement in favour of his monologue, “You can scream all you wish, Mx. L/N. I’m afraid no one can hear you.”

You just stared at him. He could do with a healthy dose of prolonged eye contact. Just as you planned, he grew very uncomfortable very quickly.

“Why…uh, why aren’t they screaming?”

The cat on his lap shrugged before giving you a bit of a look, “Mx. L/N, if you don’t mind?”

“Like this…aaahhhh!,” Hisirdoux gave a slightly pitiful fake scream before his cat bit him, pulling an actual shout out of the wizard.

“That’s a little better,” you leaned forward, a shit-eating grin on your face, plain as day for your captor to see.

He ignored it, and pouted about being bitten- which was fair enough, but also, he had captured you for like, the ninety sixth time. While you waited for the monologue to continue, you took a look at your surroundings. You’d been here before, but it was still a neat place to examine. Very wizard-y. Very cool.

You couldn’t let him know that though, “Is there some kind of nerdy supervillain website where you get magical books and paintings of squid men?” you nodded to the painting above the fireplace, “Or was that a commissioned piece?”

“Actually,” the cat answered, shifting into a dragonic form and flying over to you, “Most of it comes from an outlet store in-”

“Don’t answer that!”

“Romania.”

You nodded sagely as the wizard wheeled his chair over to you- because of course his chair had wheels. You hadn’t known that boy to sit or stand still in his life. You were 85% sure his shoes were all Heelys- or like, discount off brand Heelys. Or maybe evil Romanian Heelys? Just as you were getting lost in your thoughts about Heelys, Douxie started yelling again.

“Don’t! Stop! They’re using their nosy reporter skills on your little cat mind to find out all our secrets!” The cat gave a fake gasp while the wizard turned to you, “Your tricks. Won’t work. On me-”

“Please talk slower.”

“TEMPTLING.”

“Hey, also, what secrets? You’re so predictable!”

“Predictable, predictable!” he screamed, absolutely outraged, “Oh, you call this… predictable!”

He pulled a lever, opening the floor and revealing a pit of alligators below you. You were unimpressed. “Alligators, yep. I was thinking about it on the way over.”

“What’s this? Boom! In your face,” another lever brought down a gauntlet of blades.

You sighed, leaning back in your chair, “Clichéd.”

“No, look! Watch,” the blades got closer to you.

“Juvenile.”

“Shock and awe!” He turned something, and up came a chainsaw.

“Tacky.”

“Oh, it’s so scary!” he poked or pulled something, activating a cycle of rotating spikes which dropped down from the ceiling, inches from your face. That would’ve been wild years ago, but alas.

“Seen it.”

Now frantic, he unleashed the power of the fireplace. Blue magic lit up the room. Once again, you were unimpressed.

“Garish!”

Douxie suffered a teensy breakdown while you stared blankly at the sky. You noticed a little something creeping down towards you, “Okay, the spider’s new.”

The boy in front of you sat up, squinting to see the thing in front of you, “Spider? Uh…yes! The…the speiiiider. Even the smallest bite from “arachnis deathicus” will instantly paralyse…”

You blew the spider in his face and grinned as he flopped back and onto the ground, “You good, Doux?”

“Yeah- FUZZBUCKETS, WHERE DID IT GO?????”

You held back a laugh at the wizard’s misfortune caused directly by you. Hostage or not, your day was definitely not ruined.

My Tma favorites (per entity per season)

In honor of the finale of Tma, I'm looking back and going through the seasons and picking out my favorite episodes. I'm sorting them by entity and Im gonna write a little piece at the end of each fear as to why I picked that episode.  It is relatively spoiler free but still keep your wits about you.  

Also this is only up to Mag 197

The Stranger

Season 1: 1 Anglerfish tied with 34 Anatomy Class 

Season 2: 77 The Kind Mother

Season 3: 83 Drawing a Blank, with 96 Return to Sender as a close second

Season 4: 128 heavy Goods

Season 5: 182 Well being, but 165 Revolutions is very very good

Overall: 1 Anglerfish

So all the of The Strangers’ episodes are really evocative and well written and I have to say that it was a very, very close call for almost every single season and I still cannot really decide if I truly like Mag 1 more than Mag 34 but I have to say that Mag 1 is so very good at drawing you into the world and works as a stand alone piece.  

The Buried

I love Mag 2 as the protagonist straight up did not have any of this bullshit.  And they even got a mike drop moment with the frozen key.  Like in this house we stan Joshua Gillespie.  His determination to not have to deal with that shit is so incredibly strong that it sticks with you.

Honestly Mag 81 is absolutely brilliant and serves to contextualise so much of season 1 and 2 and ends up being incredibly important to the world as a whole.  That plus the delivery and excellent premise gives it a slight edge over Mag 172 that is a pure exploration of the controlling and manipulative nature of addiction

The Vast

So the first half of season 5 does an amazing job of truely fleshing out each fear and the Vast is no exception.  The split between the two protagonists makes it clear that The Vast is not just about big things or empty space but deep existentialism and the fear of the inevitability of life.

This one was difficult as Mag 177 and Mag 187 as both of them lingered in my head for literal weeks after listening to them.  In the end Mag 187 was so completely mind boggling in how it completely changed my perception of the Distortion.  And is a masterclass in writing a character twist.

I have quite literally experienced some version of what the victims are describing.  But more than that the realisation of the implications of this domain for the world as it elevates the episode much higher than any of the Ends other appearances as eventually the other entities will fear the End just as the mortals do.  

The Flesh

Everything about Mag 171 just speaks to me.  From the visual it conjures, to the brilliant use of botany metaphor to describe various body image issues, to Jared’s simple but weighty request.  This episode lives rent free in my brain at all times.  This is the first time that I have zero contenders for my favorite of an entity.  

The Corruption

Although Mag 164 does have a very particular place in my heart and in the history of literature due to its topic and the precise time it came out, but it does pale compared to just how brilliant Mag 32 is.   As the first real mention of the entities it reveals just little enough to keep the suspense whilst providing just enough answers that it's obvious in hindsight.  But once more none of that matters in the face of “There is a wasps nest in my attic” the shere delivery of this episode has placed it in many people's favourite lists.

Mag 42 is very interesting.  I’ve mentioned in some of my other posts that Im pretty sure that Jonny Sims finds some fears harder to write and the Slaughter is definitely one of them but I’ve only come to this conclusion by looking at how frequently they show up but listening to the show you would never be able to tell and Mag 42 is one brilliant example of this it is a brilliant way to expand on how the Slaughter manifests.  

The Desolation

I find Mag 67 so intensely interesting as it leads into one of the major themes of Tma, that love can and will defeat and overpower even the most gripping fear.  The simple love of a simple man sowed just enough doubt to destroy an avatar of destruction.  Tma is filled with similar moments but personally this one is my favourite.  

The Dark

I remember the reaction to Mag 173.  It was so incredibly powerful to watch most of the fanbase (myself included) react in exactly the same way the characters did to the reality of this domain.  First with dawning realisation, then anger followed sudden confusion at where to direct that anger.  It was quite eye opening to say the least.

I absolutely love Mag 112.  It is such a brilliant idea, and as a result I end up valuing it a bit more than Mag 133 or 10 which are particularly telling for me as it proves that the Hunt is weirdly the fairest of the entities and absolutely condones fighting back and even killing its avatars or that it just cares about the circular nature of the hunt.

Covid lockdown hit me quite hard and I have not seen a single piece of media that captures the feeling of having hours and days drift into each other quite like Mag 170 so along with Mag 164 it has a very strange place in my heart.

She actually died in 1996 aged 85, but she had already made predictions about what would happen in 2021, and she has been correct with 85% of her predictions so far. First, a cure for cancer will be found! Humanity will probably be able to eradicate cancer at the start of the 21st century. Next, President Donald Trump will be struck down with a serious ailment. The 45th president will catch a disease of unknown origin, go deaf, and suffer brain injury. Next, Europe. The European economy will collapse, a domestic asassination attempt will be made on President Vladimir Putin, Islamic extremists  will attack Europe with chemical weapons. Next, worldwide. The world will undergo climate change and suffer great damage. Peoples' awareness will change, an era of distress will dawn, people will be divided. We will witness shocking events which will change the fate of humanity. Thats not all, it goes on....Oil production will stop, trains will fly using solar energy. If oil production stops, the world can rest. In 2021, a strong dragon will seize the earth. Further, three giants will unite, some people will get red money. She also saw the numbers 100 and 5 with lots of zeros. As for the meaning of the dragon, if it were a nation, it is easy to see it as China, the three giants would be Russia, India, and China, and as for the 100 and 5, this could refer to 100yuans and 5000 rubles, as both use red notes. And finally, the last prediction is alien life in space will be discovered, the origin of life on eath will be revealed, and people will be able to make contact will their supernatural siblings from another world. Those are Baba Vanga's predictions. What do you think?

look i like misha (and jensen) as much as the next person. they seem like good people. and still im a rando off the street so no matter how many interviews i watch or how much time i spend on their twitter and insta, I don’t fucking know them!! not really. i don’t. that said, all we have in common that’s real and of substance in the context of a spn con is the show itself. sure actors can talk about whatever they want but i don’t pay for cons for the celebrity worship or to imagine that i have a depth of connection with the actors that i don’t have. i pay for cons for content relevant to the show, more or less. if some aspect of what i consider relevant is banned or off limits, i need that published clearly and upfront before i pay because some banned topics are dealbreakers in terms of me spending my money. again actors can talk about or not talk about whatever they like AND i can pay to listen to or not listen to whatever i like. a clear concise public statement about what isn’t allowed/fair game is important. if there’s a topic that’s 85% of my interest (i.e., destiel/finale issues) in this particular con, i have a right to know outright if that is banned. even if they’re mum about the reason. *cough queerphobia* I shouldn’t have to gamble with will they won’t they on a topic that’s low key or high key banned from the start! We gambled already with the show itself so with the con it’s just extra cruel. an obvi corollary of all of the above is at the end of the day when all is said and done I don’t care what an actor’s fave food is or what they did with/to/about bill clinton. i care about show/character stuff. ok sure whatever sprinkle in personal life if you want but pls mostly while on the way to a point about literally the only thing we for sure have in common which is - yep - the show. im just sayin.

Her dark eyebrows knit for a moment, confusion at his statement showing even though she had seemed…well bored and detached during his brothers flirting.  Because…well because she hadn’t know that was what was happening at all.  Keera was very bad at recognizing that and in spite of her appearance, she really did try and be as non feminine as possible.  Being a feminine drifter was asking for trouble that she had already had enough of.  At one point when she was 17 she had actually shaved off all of her hair in an effort to rid herself of the shroud of femininity but in the end it actually drew more attention and she had spent a good three years trying to grow it back to a non descript length.

Plus she was super into her beer and pub food which was possibly even better then the diners back home.  She paused with a fry 85% into her mouth.  “What does it matter if he’s…”  Dawn lit across her face.  “HA!  Oh!”  She looked over to her shoulder to the door where Reggie was taking the call.  Shaking her head she snorted and turned back to Ronnie.  She was starting to like it here and the flirting bit did explain why she felt more comfortable with Ron in general.  That of the dogs but she wasn’t going to analyze that.  She grinned jokingly.  “Don’t suppose the restraining order comes with the drink?”

...the way ur reading it tho makes it seem more... Aggressive. I always thought of it as kind of a friendly not-there man that didn't mean to spook people. This sounds like they're angry.

I studied graphic design for a year or so, but I dropped out.

Online I have so many, so it’s hard to count. In person? It’s probably better to do in person.

I have about 5 good friends in person who I spend time with once in a while. Usually as a group.

I look for someone who is patient with me, as it sometimes takes me a bit to comprehend simple things. Someone who makes me laugh, and who I can have intelligent conversations with.

This one is tricky. I don’t have a crush per say, but I know a few people I could see myself easily falling for. Me and crushes have become a complicated thing, so I tend to try to ignore those feelings.

Serious and meaningful relationships. I honestly can’t handle casual dating.

Manipulation, mostly. I have a horrible history with that and as a result I put up with less bullshit than I used to. Also, just basically don’t be a dick.

I have weird ones. Balloons, tornadoes, and the fear that I’ll suddenly no longer exist. Not die, but just...not exist anymore. Be completely forgotten or unable to be seen.

My main dream is to make a career out of what I enjoy doing. I know not everyone wants that, since it could diminish your enjoyment of what you do for fun, but it’s all I’ve dreamed of doing since I was a little girl.

My most recent regret is not talking my sister out of doing something she’d get in trouble for. It’s not a huge regret, because I’m sure things will be fine in the long run.

I genuinely hate repeating myself, even if it can’t be helped. Nothing annoys me more. I try not to get too upset over it, but I can’t seem to help myself. Also people who drink out of the carton if the milk is for everyone. Like, that’s gross.

As Georgie pointed out in ep 93 (i think?): why did Elias (or the Eye) choose John as the Archivist? Why was he special? And why did they need to replace Gertrude? As far as I know she was doing quite well, right? She was getting closer to stopping the ritual John is supposed to stop, then why kill her? What was she doing "wrong"?
