claudia's nose bridge wrinkles. the expression is almost girlish, befitting the memory he dredges up like something discovered beneath a loose floorboard.

she remembers a luncheonette down her street a ways, but not the name of the woman who'd tucked the shiny quarters in her small palm and winked. claudia'd thought she was the prettiest thing she'd ever seen. she didn't have the words to describe the feeling it put inside of her then—and wouldn't for a long, long time.
