I just.. Wanna post my hcs if the sonic characters were human and what they're races would be.. Let me know if any of you agree :3 (+ au yaps abt them idk)
Sonic - White + Mexican.. Idk probably comes from a white trash family that he ran away from and just hates how he was raised so much to the point he HAS to do good things for others to not feel like a bad person, he was probably raised in a super small house with like 4 other siblings (he's the 2nd oldest) he ended up meeting Tails on the street when he finally ran away (his parents don't care or probably didn't even notice) and Tails was homeless so he ended up js taking him with him and they live in a small apartment together, sonic does odd jobs as well as a full time job to support him and Tails
Tails - White but specifically Irish. Idk why... He just.. Gives off that feeling đ, Tails was homeless for only month or two before Sonic found him idk why he was homeless but that js makes the most sense with how they would end up meeting in this au, Tails is still just a kid Probably like 12-13 sooo living with his 17 BASICALLY brother atp Is like THE COOLEST THING EVER for him. Sonic does everything he can do support tails in his experiments but.. With how little their income is it's a bit hard
Knuckles - Jamaican. No explanation needed tbh. In this au knuckles is 19 he works in construction BUT also participates in Boxing matches as well as ring fights for some extra cash, he's been training to become a professional fighter or just something in that field, he'd even be happy just being the coach of a A-class fighter. He met Sonic on the streets and they got into a argument about something.. Idk what but it escalated to the point Knuckles just decided it'd be easier to fight it out and so they did.. Bets were placed and of course Knuckles won I mean yeah Sonic is fast as hell on his feet but Knuckles is basically a walking wall. No matter how fast Sonic is he couldn't make him move a inch. Sonic was a good match though and took his defeat and explained he was sorry for whatever they started fighting about and started to explain his situation, Knuckles felt bad and gave Sonic the bet money and his number "kid If you ever need anything call me, I'll try my best to help ya" and a few months later they ended up moving in together.. (Rent prices went WAYYY up and neither could Afford to live by themselves)
Rouge - Latina, need I say more? She works at a club as a bartender she's about 22 in this au to everyone she's like a big sister (except Knuckles. We love knuxouge here.) though in her free time she volunteers at a after school club for kids around Tails age and that's how she met those 3! Knuckles and Sonic would take turns picking Tails up and she thought Knuckles was cute so they got to talking eventually she found out about the 3s situation and if its for Knuckles she's willing to do whatever (as long as she doesn't get her hands dirty)
Amy - she always kinda gave me a mixed feeling?? Js black and white, she is a childhood friend of Sonics coming from a better off family than his but their parents were friends so eventually they js became friends too! She's 16 and tries her best to be there for Sonic but because of school and Sonic constantly working it's a bit hard for her to make plans.. She does occasionally go over and help them all clean just to make it a bit easier on them
Shadow - OKAY. I know I might get hate for this but.. I've always seen Shadow as Wasian. I'M SORRY I'M SORRYYY IT JUST MAKES SO MUCH SENSE IN MY EYES. SPECIFICALLY HE'S FILIPINO AND GERMAN. (Or alternatively Filipino and black. Something in me just has the urge to make him Filipino.) And let me tell you THIS BOY CAN SINGGGG. but enough of that. Shadows family is.. WEIRD. Maria is his Half sister as he was born 1 year after her to their fathers new Wife (Maria is fully German) AND YES MARIAS ALIVE IN THIS AU. so Shadow is 17 and Maria is 18. Shadow and Sonic went to the same school, they were kind of friends but also not?? Everyone kept putting them against each other as academic rivals when really Sonic just thought Shadows style was cool and wanted to be friends.. BAD. But after Sonic ran away they never exchanged phone numbers (mainly because Sonic didn't have a phone) and just lost contact.. He started worrying so he asked around and found out Sonic had dropped out which was.. Weird. Sonic had good grades and was well liked so why would he suddenly drop out for almost no reason? He tried his best to focus on other things but the thought of something bad happening to Sonic just never left Shadows mind. Maria had became friends with Rouge in her freshman year of high school when Rouge was a senior and they've kept in contact this entire time so Rouge is a close family friend of Shadow, through Rouge talking about her cute new guy she's been talking to she mentioned Sonic and Shadow practically JUMPED from his seat asking her "is he okay?? It's been months since he dropped out of school what the hell even happened I've been trying to find him for so long" (of course he didn't say exactly that.. He still has to keep his aura.) (he said exactly that he's a little baby around Maria and Rouge) so blah blah blah Shadow FINALLY found Sonic YIPPEE!! chaos can occur!
So yes that's my little au and headcanons!! Please remember this is just for fun and if you don't agree just be nice about it :3
Also can you tell Knuckles and Shadow are my favorites?
#shadow the hedgehog#sonic the hedgehog#sonic fandom#sonic au#knuckles the echidna#rouge the bat#miles tails prower#tails the fox#please understand my vision of wasian shadow I'm wasian so it's basically canon because shadows me

Green Eyes
Somewhat of an alternate cut of Blue, but with my own terrible, terrible headcanons front and center. Technically canon-compliant, although definitely not canon-intended. Likes, reblogs, and comments both here and ao3 appreciated!
Again, this is shortly pre-issue 189.Â
Warnings: One-sided Sonourge.
Wordcount: 1025

Fiona was snuggled up against his chest, making cute little squeaks in her sleep. It was adorable, if he was honest, and he smiled, running his fingers through her hair. Her ears twitched and her muzzle nosed closer to the scars on his chest, legs intertwined with his and her loose sleep shorts the only barrier between them.Â
âMmm...â She hummed and he laid back, content to just listen and feel the rumbling vibrations. He had the planet, he had a hot girlfriend who was a great fighter and adored him, he had banners with his face strung up all over. It was everything heâd ever wanted as a kid.
Green irises flashed as soon as his eyelids slid shut, though, and his eyes snapped back open with an accompanying groan as he draped a hand over them.
God dammit.
There was nothing wrong with admiring his own physique. He had a fantastic body, he wasnât about to deny that. There was also nothing wrong with liking guys- heâd figured that out years ago. Why limit himself when there were hot people of all kinds?Â
This, though, was The Absolute Worst Thing.
He had everything heâd ever wanted, so why the fuck was he still thinking about his alternate self? How they tumbled over each other on the grass, perfect matches as their hands met and pushed back and forth, give and take, sweat slicking back fur and bruises like love bites. Heâd felt more alive than he ever had as they raced against each other, kinetic chaos energy buzzing between them with every step, a perfect match. Sonic had sparked something, he was the reason heâd even conquered this planet- but that hadnât been as exhilarating as tossing banter back and forth with an equal. Banter from lips he kind of wanted to-
His fingers tightened against Fionaâs pajama top as he stared up at the ceiling, the light just enough that he could see a pattern of cracks spiderwebbing across the stone.
Every time theyâd directly tussled, Sonic had beaten him up. He could respect someone who presented an actual challenge. That wasnât really the problem- it just made him more eager to go back at some point and prove he was better. The problem was that he was daydreaming about it even when he had a perfect life right here. He was King! Everyone who had half a brain bowed down, and those who didnât got curbstomped, teeth ground out on the dirt! The world was under his control, the squad was under his control, and Fi technically was under his control too but she genuinely wanted to be there which was more than he got out of almost everyone else his entire goddamn life. He had no reason to be daydreaming about eyes that looked the same way his used to, but with a spark heâd never been able to find in the mirror.
Heâd upgraded himself, left being a âSonicâ behind. He was more, so why was his brain chasing after a version that he rightfully should have left in the dust? Sure, Blue was Prime, but Scourge had marked himself as more than an alternate by now. Caring about what another version of himself- heâd judge based off his past self, not by what the stupid zone cops thought- was weak, especially this version. Heroism only lead to pain and neglect, crumbling under a million voices that never managed to agree and devolved to infighting anyway. A version of himself that didnât know that was still a child.
But he was somehow a child that won. Blue was loved and cared for, and Scourge hadnât beaten him yet, despite his philosophy being childishly naĂŻve. How had he lost to that?Â
It had to be because heâd fought more. Sonicâs life was spent fighting a genuinely threatening Kintobor- Robotnik, right. That was it- he just had more practice with opponents that actually challenged him. Scourge had stomped everyone with barely any resistance. Fighting robots and warlords with actual bite that went with their bark had honed Blue into a lean, mean, fighting machine, with those toned muscles and bright smirk, and that laugh that sounded so different and so familiar at the same time-
Fuck. There it went again. He scrubbed at his eyes, and Fionaâs tail flicked under the sheets as she stirred, rubbing at her eyes.
âSomething wrong, babe?â
He still had Fiona, though. Sheâd seen that Scourge was better, had gotten out and made herself princess of the new world Scourge had created. That certainly wasnât nothing.
If sheâd seen the light... maybe...Â
âNothinâ.â
âDoesnât look like nothing.â She traced her hand on his cheek, giving him a kiss.Â
âWould you ever wanna go back?â
âHmm? You mean to Mobius?â
âYeah.â
She thought for a moment before shaking her head. âWhy would I want to? Thereâs nothing left for me there. I burnt all those bridges pretty well, and I like it here much better.â Her tail curled, wrapping around one of his legs. âWhy? You thinking of going back for something?â
Blue had a pretty rough life, it seemed. There had to be some spark deep down in him that wanted to run away, just for a while. Be with an equal, not those cling-ons who couldnât possibly be on his level. Someone like Scourge. He was so powerful, and he was just throwing it away.Â
If he could just find that one thing that might make him realize...
âA rematch might be fun.â
âOoh.â She grinned, index finger stroking down his chest. âYouâve got more practice now, and Iâd like to see that.â
âTwo planets are better than one, right?â
âItâll be more of a challenge than Moebius was, but Iâll bet you can do it.â She flicked playfully at the raised bump of the top scar. âIâll have to figure out to how fit two crowns on at the same time.â
He grinned back, pulling her into a proper kiss. When she settled back down to sleep though, he still saw green eyes teasing him with fire and his fingers curled into fists around the sheets.

Sonic Ring Bond: The Journey - Scene 51
Well, a lot happens in this scene, though it took me forever to put it together due to all sorts of problems on my end. Unfortunately Iâm a horrible proof reader so I hope the events flow and donât feel wasted. So, instead of panicking and throwing a fit about it, Iâll let everyone dive right into...

The hanger doors folded out and a chill wind rushed into the belly of the Skyskipper, Zooeyâs coral red airship. Normally it served as home for Zooey, Tails, and Rosy, but when they first found a red star ring it became their base of operations, including for Sonic and Mighty. As Claymoreâs Banquet unfolded below, it also served as an observation platform for the Engineers, who Zooey had forged a strong alliance with while sky racing using Sonic and Tailsâ planes; the Tornado and X-Tornado. Today though, it was Sonic at the controls of the Tornado, with Rosy blissfully on his lap in the now cramped cockpit.
âI kind of feel like I should have taken Tailsâ plane.â
âDonât be like that, Sonic~â„,â Rosy giggled and Sonic rolled his eyes before looking out at Zooey who was preparing to man the deployment arm for the plane.
âYou ready to bail if things go sideways?â
âNot too far. Besides, the Ring Gate Beacon is working perfectly. You shouldnât have any trouble getting back here.â
âThen weâre off!â Rosy shouted excitedly and thrust a fist cheerfully in the air.
Sonic smirked as he dodged Rosyâs enthusiasm and began throwing switches as he started up the silver-winged, red biplane. With Rosyâs arm up in the air though, he noticed a light blinking from under the cuff of Rosyâs glove. âWe got a call, kid. How about you say hi to Tails while we head out.â
  âYay!â
Bringing her arm down and trying not to get in Sonicâs way, Rosy depressed a button on the wrist device she wore. âSo, is this Mighty or Tails!~â„â
-Oh~! This technology is amazing! Itâs a lot more advanced than what we installed on my ship.-
âBlister?â Rosy asked confused. âWhy do you haveââ
-Donât worry about it Rosy-lass,- Gillâs voice came across the wrist radio next He also seemed to quickly change his mind. -No. Definitely worry about it, Rosy-lass. That knight is more trouble than we realized. But we got in contact with Tails, Mighty, and the koala before he took them out of here. Tails insisted that we get their stuff and meet you at the stage. Heâs worried Rosy-lass. Real worried, especially after I told him that Claymore sent most of his autogolems into the catacombs. He insists that your lad is going to need to stop someone. We donât know who, but Claymore called him a Ring Mage.-
  âIx!â Rosy declared with surprise.
âYou donât know that,â Sonic countered, but Rosy did not even puff up her cheeks as she countered him. She attempted to wear a smile for him though.
âJust call it my girlish intuition.â
âRight,â Sonic replied offering her a more comforting smile before flashing Zooey a thumbs up. âWeâre good to go, Zooey. Send us on our way.â
âJust come back please. Sonic, Rosy. And make sure you bring Tails and Mighty with you.â
âYou got it!â Sonic promised Zooey as she activated the launch arm, and the Tornado was lifted out of the airship.
âWeâll bring our new friends too,â Rosy cried out as the Tornado was released and fell away from the airship. âYouâll love them!â
~Normally I would love flying sitting in Sonicâs lap while he pilots his plane. Tee-hee~â„ This might be my first time. I donât think we ever have. But the thing is⊠Well, something isnât right.
~I know Sonic doesnât believe in destiny. He believes in forging his own path. But the gods are real. I donât remember, but Sonic Iâm sure does. The Rings will always remember, and he can create Ring Bonds, so he surely does. I know we must have met a few. And this scene as we fly past the other airships and towards the main cathedral, it looks like something they would do.~
The scene before Rosy was ominous, even as it was beautiful. From the complex of towers that made up the main cathedral of Tower Point, the spire of the main one was aimed straight at Yoluku above. Behind it, the sun rose into the morning sky, and began to set behind Yoluku. An upside-down sunset and the spreading of an ominous smile.
Beyond the clouds that adorned the blue sky, an eclipse night began to fall, and the stars came out to watch the banquet below, the red crack in the sky splitting their number.
It was a sight that many below marked as the beginning of the end of the world. Claymore the Purple however would not stand to let Yoluku win. With Tails, Mighty, and Draw with Mote hiding in his coat, trailing him, Claymore descended a massive stairwell that took him and his contingent of autogolems onto the stage that overlooked the main plaza. Compared to the three-meter-tall suit of armor, the stage looked small. Looking up as he did past the tower and to where Yoluku mockingly watched the festivities, it was Claymore who looked small.
âHo!â Claymore shouted out in victorious triumph, challenging the small planet in the sky to face him. âThis is why we host this Banquet my good people! To show you that as long as even one Knight of the Order of the Sword stands, foul Yoluku is but a harmless bauble in the sky. It is only those that would carry out Yolukuâs will that you need fear. And one comes to us now!â
Turning his attention, and in turn that of the gathered masses to the skies, Claymore eyed the Tornado as it weaved through the airships.
~I bet the scene from the stage is amazing! But itâs getting hard for me to pay attention. The Gear Star Ring that sometimes replaces my left iris is back, and it hurts so much. I guess that means the gear is turning, so something big is about to happen. Or maybe Saber the Red is here.
~Itâs really hard to say what is going on though. I just hope it isnât as bad as it sounds like Tails thinks it is.~
âHey kid, are you okay?â Sonic asked noticing Rosy clutch at her shoulder, and her cards within the shoulder puff of her leotard.
Rosy didnât hear him though. Her cards were freezing, and there was a voice creeping through her skin whispering in her ears.
Itâs alright. You can still have fun. There is yet still plenty of fun to be hadâŠ
âAmy!â Sonic yelled and shook Rosy from her stupor.
âOops!â Rosy apologized and stuck her tongue out. âSorry. I think something was trying to talk to me. But Iâm here!â
âAnd so are we,â Sonic let Rosy know that they had landed.
âAw~! I missed you do a flyover didnât I!â Rosy whined as Sonic playfully chucked her from the cockpit. âAck! What was that for!â
âYou were taking too long, and got a little distracted,â Sonic smirked as he flung himself from the cockpit and glared across the stage. âAnd I donât think our host is willing to wait much longer.â
âHo!â Claymore shouted and looked taken aback as Rosy took Sonicâs offered hand and helped herself up. âYou would treat the medium under your care so carelessly. You are no knight Ring Mage!â
âAnd what about you, Sir Buckethead,â Sonic countered. âAttacking people out of the blue to kidnap little girlsââ
  âIâm not a little girl!â
ââand kidnapping her friends when that fails,â Sonic continued ignoring Rosyâs rebuttal. âThat doesnât sound much like a knight either. Or maybe Iâm just out of the loop and you guys donât put much stock in being honorable anymore.â
Pulling free the finger he had started scratching at the inside of his ear with, Sonic looked at it a moment before blowing on it and walking away from Rosy. She didnât wait at the plane and took up pace behind Sonic as he approached the towering autogolem.
âYou would challenge my honor? Ho!â Claymore laughed. âYou are brave Ring Mage, but your friends remain unharmed.â
Motioning out with a hand, Claymore displayed where Tails, Mighty, and Draw were in shackles under autogolem watch. Mighty offered Sonic a shrug as Sonicâs look begged to know why he hadnât broken free. Draw just looked irritable, which was almost expected of the young koala. He knew he was in trouble, but there were some naiveties that he still possessed that kept him from panicking. Tails was not so fortunate.
âTails!â Rosy cried out, the obvious fear and dread on her best friendâs face tearing at her heart. âJust wait right there! Sonic will have this cleaned up in no time!â
âThereâs no time to wait!â Tails yelled back. âIâve been reading since I got here, and if what Iâve read is true, if we donât stop the Ring Mage in the catacombs below the city, the Near Lands will be blown apart and absorbed into the Far Lands! Rosy! The whole Near Lands are a Red Star Ring!â
âWhatâŠ?â Rosy asked confused, but still trembled at the implications of Tailsâ words.
The statement even gave Sonic pause and he looked out at Tails questioningly. âAre you sure about that Tails? Iâve already used two of them. I would think I would have noticed.â
âHow would he have found that out from books in the cathedral?â Claymoreâs stunned question answered Sonicâs question and he turned an angry glare back onto the knight.
âYou had a problem like this stirring, and you came to pick up our fight,â Sonic nearly snarled.â I donât think you have your priorities in order, Sir Buckethead.â
âYou underestimate the armies of the Preservers,â Claymore countered and drew his sword. âA Ring Mage who would challenge me to battle and is in possession of a medium is a far greater threat!â
âYour wrong!â Rosy interrupted and held a hand to her heart. âSonic doesnât hurt people unless theyâre already hurting others. You took our friends because you wanted to take me. You wanted to know if I could hear Yolk saying something. You obviously want to protect this beautiful world. That makes you like Sonic and all of us then. Ix though⊠Ix wonât stop. He told me the world has to be righted. That he has to find to his friend no matter what. That once he does that the world will be returned to how it should be. If heâs here and he can affect everywhere and the Red Star Ring these lands are built on, everyoneâs homes⊠then you have to let us stop him!â
âAnd how can I know you can be trusted, Lady Medium?â Claymore challenged Rosyâs pleas. âDo you think me blind to the Yoluku Device in your eye? Even now Yoluku could be whispering in your earââ
âIf thatâs Yolk then please tell them to get out of my head!â Rosy yelled as she squeezed her hand tightly around her shoulder.
âRosy! Donât tell meâŠ?â Tailsâ panic shifted as he saw the pain clear as day on Rosyâs smiling face, as well as her trembling knees and the water vapor that flowed out of her sleeve. âRosy! You have to put your cards down, or at least give them to someone else!â
âYou remember that too, huh, Tails?â Sonic remarked and surprised Rosy.
âSonic? What are you talking about?â
âThis isnât the first time youâve had a god messing with you through your cards, kid,â Sonic spoke, fighting to keep his anger in check. To help, he turned again towards Claymore, a ready recipient of his ire.
âI wanted to wreck that tin can youâre wearing and reveal the fairy Iâm pretty sure is hiding inside,â Sonic began before turning his back on Claymore and walking away, a guiding and protective hand on Rosy. Looking back as he returned towards the Tornado, he continued with cocky anger, âbut it looks like youâre getting my help whether you want it or not.â
âI will not accept the aid of a puppet of Yoluku,â Claymore countered and took a step towards Sonic and Rosy, reaching for them with his empty hand.
âI figured youâd say that,â Sonic shrugged as he tossed Rosy into the cockpit. âBut fortunately, Iâve already planned for it.â
Sticking his fingers in his mouth, Sonic whistled and made quite the show of the signal to action. Looking back at Claymore one last time, he smirked and wagged a finger. âAnd Iâm no oneâs puppet. My only master is the wind that blows free!â
-----
And we survived XD I hope the scene flowed well, and Iâll do my best to make sure the rest of the Season 1 finale is good. As you can probably guess by this text, at the time of this commentary I havenât written it yet. Things have been pretty crazy, and hopefully are less crazy when this posts. Still, Iâm really hoping I have a great finish in store for everyone! Wish me luck!

SonAmy AU - of knights and hammers
Iâm feeling kinda low on inspiration after not having completed a thing I wanted for Sonicâs birthday (should I release it incomplete? Should I actually bother finishing it?), and so I went out looking for something to write, and I found some old ideas that for some reason I didnât elaborate on back then (maybe I was overwhelmed with exams lol.)Â
Prompt: basically this old ask
Now let me tell you a story about a different time.
âTis an old tale, from when the modern Spagonia we all know didnât exist, and the kingdoms that joined under its flag centuries ago were as fierce and diverse as the stretches of land they ruled.Â
The old Spagonia castle was the center of the bigger of said kingdoms, and it was located on the rocky coasts by the far south reaches, where the sun runs hot and the knights all over the continent face off against each other, all for the glory of the Queen... and a hefty gold prize.
For the past five years, the tournament has been dominated by a single champion, a knight with a gift of speed like no other, able to struck its enemies several times before they even have a chance to react. Nobody knows his name or where did he come from, but they call him the Knight of the Wind. In the sixth year of competing, everything looked like it was another sweep in his favor.
âHonorable people of our glorious Kingdom! Travelers from the kingdoms all across the world!â The announcer began, as the public flooded the tournament grounds with great enthusiasm, âwelcome to the final day of our annual tourney, possible thanks to God and Her Majestyâs enlightment and eternal wisdom!â
The crowd cheered.
âThe last bout of today will be a match of titans! On one side we have our five times champion and man of the people, the Knight of the Wind!â
The crowd cheered even harder as he raced into the arena, waving his hand at everyone and posing.
âOn the other hand, we have a newcomer that has proven to be up to par for this tournament! Rumors say sheâs from the northern lands, others believe itâs Godâs own answer to Knight of the Windâs speed. We donât know her name, but folk around here have named her the Hammer Knight!â
Some people cheered, but most of the attendants could be heard talking. She stepped in, no waving, no posing, and seemingly unarmed.
âNow, as we receive our Queenâs blessing, let the fighting begin!â
The two stood on opposite sides, not moving or anything for a moment, until the Knight of the Wind broke the ice.
âSo, a new challenger, huh?â He shouted, lowering his guard in the process. âA mysterious one, no less!â He started moving slowly, keeping his eyes on her. âOh, you think you can come here, no name or anything like me, and steal MY tournament? Ha, thatâs lame!â
Hammer Knight stood completely still, on guard, as the Knight of the Wind kept half-circling around her, looking for a strategic oportunity to strike like a lightning bolt.
âWhatâs up, girl? Are you completely frozen inside that heavy armor?â He kept mocking, then shifted to a charging position - right shoulder in front, ready to strike. âOr is it that you just wanted to meet your hero? Look, if thatâs what you want, Iâll give you a quick demonstration, but it isnât free of charge!â
As soon as he finished talking, the Knight of the Wind charged directy towards Hammer Knight, zipping across the arena in the blink of an eye. A cloud of dust covered the entire arena, as the public loudly gasped.Â
When the cloud dissipated, the Knight of the Wind was standing alone, Hammer Knight nowhere to be seen.
âHeh, mightâve crushed her so hard she completely vanished.â He uttered to himself. âOkay! Thank you all for coming, itâs been a fantastic tournament but you know Iâm the only o---â
The Knight of the Wind turned around to greet the astonished public, when Hammer Knight appeared magically in front of him, swinging a giant hammer she previously wasnât wielding. The impact sent him flying straight to a wall, with the public gasping again.
He recovered quickly. âOh... so there you are. Nice cheating, girl, but playtimeâs over!â
The battle continued for several minutes with the Knight of the Wind charging towards Hammer Knight with no results for him. She would always dodge him or counter him with her hammer, as he got more relentless - and later exhausted. The public was having a hard time processing what they were seeing.
Exhausted, the Knight of the Wind tried to spice up his tactics, now dashing erratically in an effort to confuse Hammer Knight into striking at the wrong moment. He only managed to hit her shoulder, but as soon as he stopped to catch a breath, she knocked him across the entire arena again.Â
This time he wasnât getting up. After another loud gasp from the public, they started cheering Hammer Knight, and so the announcer came back.
âWhat an amazing combat weâve just watched, folks!â The announcer had problems trying to contain the excitement. âOur Knight of the Wind... isnât getting up it seems! That can only mean... Hammer Knight is our new champion! All hail Hammer Knight!â
The Knight of the Wind wasnât completely unconscious, and as soon as he heard that Hammer Knight was victorious, he haphazardly got up ran away. Hammer Knight tried to reach for him, but got caught in the midst of celebrations.
Later that day, the Knight of the Wind was sitting inside his personal tent, reflecting upon what happened earlier, until he got interrupted by a messenger of the Queen.
âPardon my interruption, Sir, I have an urgent message coming from the Queen.â The messenger stepped inside, the Knight facing his back to him.
âIf itâs urgent, then tell the Queen to call her new shiny friend, Hammer Knight.â
âYou donât understand, sir!â The messenger urged, ââtis an important matter that needs your unmatched speed. The Queen needs you to lead and reinforce our troops at the northern border as soon as possible.â
The Knight didnât move. âI already made up my mind, Iâm telling y---â
Another figure stepped inside the tent, interrupting them.
âOh... I didnât mean to...â
It was Hammer Knight.Â
The messenger freaked out. âOh my God, itâs really you! Iâll... leave you two alone, if you excuse me.â But before exiting the tent reiterated, âSir, please consider what I told you. We are leaving this evening, the entire kingdom needs your help.â
The Knight of the Wind wasnât on a good mood for any of this.
âWhat do you want?â He let out, notably upset. âYou already took the tournament and the gold off my hands, are you going to take this tent from me as well?â
âNot at all,â she softly replied, then kneeled behind him, âI need your help.â
Contrary to what he expected, Hammer Knight didnât want to take anything from him. After little consideration, he got up and turned to face her for the first time since their battle - now without any piece of armor, just some regular knight robes. He took a long stare at her, silently admiring the one rival that managed to best him. After a minute of silence, he answered.Â
âGo on.â
She nodded, then looked up to him. âA war is brewing between the three kingdoms. Iâve been travelling all across the land, trying to stop this, searching for people that could help me, but nobody would listen to me. Thatâs what led me to you."
âWhy would I want to prevent a war, though?â The Knight of the Wind reflected. âItâs all the more chances for me to kick ass, and right now thatâs all I honestly care, or need.â
âYou donât understand, do you?â Hammer Knight lamented. âImagine how this would impact across the land. Fields and villages burning from here down to remote places like the small kingdom of Apotos. Thereâs a big offensive coming from the East, I bet you it wont stop at the three kingdoms, and people only seem to listen to you - even the Queen herself! Knight of the Wind, please consider the risks at play.â
The Knight of the Wind stood silent for a moment, reflecting.
âI guess the rumors were true.â He let out. âAnd I guess I canât let down my people, after all, I always helped them when in need.â He lended a hand to her, she grabbed it and got up. âJust point me out to where we have to go.â
After a moment, he added:
âAnd by the way, just call me Sonic.â
-------------------------------------------------------
BONUS (bc I got pretty invested in this AU already):
After talking with the Queen, Sonic and Hammer Knight went up north, to the spagonian border. They joined the troops stationed at the border that very same night, and while Sonic was talking with everyone and sharing stories, Hammer Knight was sitting on a nearby cliff, overlooking the river that separates both kingdoms.
After noticing her abscence for a while, Sonic finally found Hammer Knight atop that same cliff, and sat next to her.
âItâs been a while since Iâve been there.â Hammer Knight commented, pointing out the valley beyond the river. âI wonder how is everyone doing... my family and friends...â
âSo, it IS true, you ARE from the northern lands! I mean! Your people will likely be happy of seeing their champion back.â Sonic pointed out, trying to contain himself. âThink about it, the triumphant return of Hammer Knight! I doesnât sound cool to me of course, but for everyone else I bet theyâll love it.â
Hammer Knight chuckled. âOh, stop being so spiteful! There must be a silver lining to it!âÂ
âWell, the fact you are the only worthy opponent Iâve faced might count... Hammer Knight.â
âJust... just call me Amy, okay?â
âFine... Amy.â
The two stood in silence, watching the moonâs reflection on the river.
Conversation came back after a while.
âSo, Sonic, have you been up north before?â Amy asked.
âWell, five years of being Spagoniaâs champion granted me a world tour already!â Sonic playfully answered. âI think I remember the northern lands, I wouldâve visited them again on my sixth year on tour if, yâknow, I had won that tourney!â
âWell, now you have the chance to tour around with the new champion!â She teased.
âYeah... kill me, please.â He joked, and both laughed.
Amy let out a sigh and leaned on his shoulder.Â
âI think I like you, oh, Knight of the Wind.â
Sonic didnât say anything. But on his mind he started considering the thought of actually enjoying moments like that. Maybe she was a lot more valuable to him than just a worthy opponent.
The next morning, the Knight of the Wind and Hammer Knight went on their first adventure, hoping to stop any potential threat to peace.
(Authorâs note: hey, got anything for me? Send it to my ask box!)

List of things I hope will happen in the Sonic Movie Sequel For some context...
After watching through the Sonic Movie (2020) several times, Iâve been getting ghosts of nightmares and daydreams regarding the sequel. I have specific, personal ideas for what Iâd hope the sequel will cover since there was quite a bit of anticipation for more Sonic-esque lore and story during my third watch-through of the movie. So yeah, needless to say, this list is very much personalised, and the structure of it is pretty dense, so apologies to those who arenât dense readers.
Oh, and surprise surprise, thisâll be long. So Iâll be hiding everything under the read more thingy. Click at your own discretion....
1) Â Sonic and Tails meeting (+ relationship)
Iâm hoping Tails will have a significant difference regarding his character since he never grew up with Sonic, nor had any reason to look up to him. This would mean that any potential character arc for Tails will be pretty much untouched territory since most (if not all) the past takes on Tailsâ first meeting with Sonic have been either underwhelming, insignificant to that continuityâs Sonic-&-Tails dynamic, or both. So I hope the movie doesnât brush off the twoâs introduction and that Tails is kept as a relatively significant character despite his not so close relationship with Sonic. I have personal fears that Sonic and Tailsâ relationship will get rushed in the sequel similarly to the way the first movie rushes past 10 years of Sonic legitimately living in isolation by himself [(with little to no addressing of any experiences the kid would encounter through those years). I have some criticisms to make about the improper use of time skips in that movie, but that will be for another day.]
Anyhow, I hope the movie prioritises their relationship by NOT giving away too much screen-time to other characters, since him and Tailsâ close sibling-friendship dynamic would need proper screen time to develop â this is UNLESS the movie team are planning on further deviating from the games and mainline continuities, which is a whole ânother can of worms...
Rewatching that ending scene, Tails lights up with hope at the thought of finding Sonic, which leads me to question whether heâs already met him or is simply elated at the success of finding him. Iâm currently leaning towards the prediction that Sonic has a legend surrounding him and his speed and Tails knows him simply as that.
Thing is, will the reason heâs looking for Sonic directly endanger Sonicâs happiness and life on Earth, or will it poke at Sonicâs curiosity regarding his past and Longclaw? I feel the motive for seeking out Sonic will be the driving factor for how their relationship will develop and be executed. This set up for Tailsâ introduction seems very clever to invoke some hype for Sonic fans, and give the writers themselves opportunity to put a unique take on Tailsâ character â thereâs potential to have his character be altered from even the modern games (which could be a good or bad, depending on how they interpret Tailsâ current character, and what they think would require some reworking). Iâll address this further in the next point.
2) Â Tailsâ Character
Tailsâ current character is a mixed bag. In the games, heâs been written to be very cowardly and dependent on Sonic (Sonic Forces), a whiny asshole (Lost World), or just a lowly submissive sidekick. The comics do a better job with his character, but I do hope in the movie series he wonât end up being dubbed as âSonicâs sidekickâ ever. The thought of that happening sounds pretty outlandish, maybe might even a bit insulting to the writers, since Sonic has been written as a more fleshed out character in the movie than heâs been written for quite the decade â I donât see why or how Tails would be treated any different. But since itâs apparently pretty easy to write Tails into a pretty lame character, Iâm gonna not have expectations once more till I see the final product, or interviews with whoever ends up voicing Tails.
I think in the movies, itâd work if Tails acted like a kid too (much like Sonic) but is perhaps more downplayed due to his (currently vague) responsibilities. Tails will probably still be a few years behind Sonic, so he still has that natural childlike innocence and naĂŻvetĂ© â plus, without Sonic, Iâd say he grew up to respond obediently to instructions and commands so this could be something Sonic might bump heads with. Tails could have a background lacking in familial relations, something that would be worthy of note in comparison to Sonicâs current living situation. Tails would likely also fall into being the expositionist character in the movie â which is both inevitable and acceptable on my part, as long as it wonât always be him. Also, itâd be cool if he either ends up abducting Sonic to bring him to their world, or acts as an initially polite chaperone for Sonic (and Tom, begrudgingly) â this would reinforce Tails as a character that can stand on his own without tying himself to Sonic, which is something Iâve been sorely hoping to see from his character for quite the while.
3) Â The Echidna Tribe, Tikal... (& Knuckles)
Iâm pretty conflicted with this, since we have no info on what the sequel will be focusing on. But I figure, since the first movie went out of its way to introduce the Echidna Tribe early on â and subtly kicked off Sonicâs tragic backstory and, subsequently, the events of the first movie â they were to come back in the sequel. So what I have to say about them is... first off, they are not extinct â so we already have a major deviation from Sonic Adventure continuity, so there is almost no telling what the writers will do with em, which is both mortifying and exhilarating. Second, their motivation is at best drawn from inference â I predict that the Master Emerald exists in this story, and I predict Sonic being born with speed will be something of significance to the Echidnas (perhaps even told from a historical prophecy), but whether the Master Emerald and Sonic will be connected in any way will be hard to deduce with what little information there is. But Iâm already making the bold prediction that they will play a major role in the sequel, so Iâll hold off on further speculation.
On to my Tikal paragraph... I want her to appear in this series, and I think itâd be more fitting she has more presence in this movie than Knuckles since her character directly tied into the Echidna Tribe as she was actively against their violence, so I could see her being an ally to Sonic and Tails, perhaps even being aware of Longclaw and knowing what happened to her. Tikal also just has a really cool theme from Sonic Adventure â just listen to it!
youtube
It honestly sounds like something thatâd translate well into the big screen with the use of more diverse-sounding instruments, and would be fitting use of Sonic music for the fans, and for the narrative musically-speaking.
Regarding Knuckles... currently, the only thing even hinting at his appearance in the story is his natural ties to the Echidna Tribe, which I am betting (if he does appear) will most definitely be an active member in. There is so much potential for him to appear in this sequel, but the question is... how much of a role will he play? They could introduce him as a part of the Echidna Tribe, the guardian of the Master Emerald, or an isolated Echidna who isnât closely tied to the Tribe.... honestly, thereâs so much pathways to take his character.
Personally, Iâd want him to actually not have a strong presence in the story (on his own at least) â more that Iâd want him sticking with the group of Echidnas in the tribe. I want his character to not even be easy to pick out due to him wearing a mask. I donât want him to stand out from his race, instead being subtly introduced as a reoccurring enemy for Sonic in the sequel (perhaps someone that actively chases after him or gets the closest to him) amongst the tribe. The best path to take with him personally is to have him be both among the tribe, but gradually exchanging dialogue with the main characters. Nothing as straightforward as him getting played by Eggman to antagonise Sonic for something he did â none aâ that. I want this movie to mostly focus on developing Sonicâs world, the Echidna Tribe and their lore, Longclawâs character and/or history, and Sonic and Tailsâ relationship. How Tom and Maddie fit into this story though, is one of the more daunting thoughts I have....
4) Â Tom and Maddie
Going by the fact that itâs been confirmed by James Marsden that heâs definitely gonna be reprising his role as Tom Wachowski for as many movies as desired, Iâm expecting heâll be in the sequel for a good amount of time. Whether this is gonna be good or bad for the sequel itself is up for debate, but I do see a bit of issue with him and Maddieâs inclusion in the story considering they have basically become Sonicâs surrogate parents and best friends â so I struggle to see how the sequel will successfully get into the lore of Sonicâs world without abruptly ripping apart Sonicâs happy family. Considering Tom ainât gonna be left on Earth... if Tails brings Sonic back into their world, I can see him coming as a hesitant and apprehensive tag-along for Sonic's comfort. Itâll be hard to say if the sequel can be identified as more of a Sonic movie if Tom still accompanies Sonic into his world, but I think since Eggman is bound to return, casual audiences will still need an anchor to keep the movie from turning into just Eggman and a bunch of CGI anthropomorphic animals fighting on screen. But another issue I see here is the fact that Tomâs character in itself is rather plain in comparison to the identity of Sonicâs whole character and lore surrounding him. Tom offered normalcy, guidance, and friendship to an attention-starved, lonely, and vulnerable Sonic in the first movie. But since the sequel seems to be introducing a new variable â revelation regarding Sonicâs importance in his own world â what can Tom do aside from accompany and try to protect his hedgehog son? Tails will likely form a bond with Sonic that could rival Tom and Sonicâs budding familial-friendship, and Sonic has many other characters that can offer him friendship and love... not to mention that owl lady who âdiedâ offscreen. The moment Sonicâs world becomes the focus of the movie, how will Tom fit seamlessly in the story? And how much of the movie will be any different from the first one? Will it still be on Earth or Sonicâs world?
Logic dictates that weâve already seen enough of Earth, so with the introduction and set up of inter-dimensional transportation through rings, Iâd figure itâd be time we focused on Sonicâs World. But given the trouble that had took place in trying to integrate Sonic into the real world (via. Sonicâs movie redesigns), I can only imagine whatâll take place in trying to migrate to Sonicâs World. Then again, itâs possible that the sequel takes place on Earth, which also sounds very likely, but less desirable to me.
Getting back on the topic of Tom and Maddie.... (yes, Ik I didnât even bring up Maddie in that last paragraph donât @ me)....
The issue I find Iâm having with them as of writing this is the issue I found when watching Sonic X. In Sonic X, almost the exact same premise in the movie was used in the anime: Sonic characters existing in the real world. And unlike the movie, I found myself to immediately dislike the fashion in which the series wrote its human characters. To streamline my critiques regarding the anime, the human characters were bloating the cast, had very bland and unengaging personalities, and worst of all, would both serve no purpose for the overall story, and take screen time away from Sonic and his friends (who shouldâve been the main focus of the story as they are the main appeal).
Applying this critique to the movie, the movie had done a fairly good job in making sure that Sonic characters and human characters had the appropriate amount of screen time, and it also justified the existence of Tom and Maddie â as they were one of a handful of notable inhabitants in the small town Green Hills, which Sonic resided in. Theyâre inclusion in the story was both necessary to the development of Sonicâs character, and surprisingly, Eggmanâs. Tom and Sonicâs character arcs intertwined with one another. and interlocked with Eggmanâs in the later half. For a rather underwhelming genre like buddy comedy, I found myself genuinely enjoying Tomâs character and felt genuine attachment to his and Sonicâs developing relationship. Which is why Iâm all the more worried for how the sequel will continue on from this â since, from the look of things, Tomâs personal character journey seems to have concluded (any proceeding character arcs seem likely to pop up from Sonic instead of Tomâs own actions). So I fear Iâll inevitably lose attachment and love for the character, and in its place, misplaced frustration and irritation at his presence in the story.
So, uh... best of luck to the writers, cuz thereâs gonna be a lot of juggling with the introduction of new characters and the continuation of other preexisting characters. Obviously Tom and Maddie will have to pull their weight if theyâre gonna stay as prominent characters in the next Sonic Movie[(s) ?]
As unfair as this sounds, Iâm not particularly excited for the next movie and am definitely worried for whatâs to come for their characters.... all I can hope for is that if they come back and take up screen time, it is for good reason.
Also, I hope for more Tom and Eggman scenes. Should Agent Stone return, maybe heâll come along for the journey into different dimensions (if there will be inter-dimensional travel prominently featured in the movie, that is...)
5) Â Eggman
Of all characters, I think Eggman has gone through the most interesting of changes â in regards to his backstory, character, and potential. Unlike his game counterpart, he isnât an established to be connected to Sonicâs World, and was in fact tied to the human world. Now that heâs currently stuck in Mushroom whatâs-itâs-name, there is no doubt that heâll come out of it with his wits intact, his psyche damaged, and a newfound obsession with a certain blue hedgehog. I hope Jim Carrey can manage the comedic and genuinely threatening aspects of a man stripped of Earthly comfort and prestige, and now surrounded by foreign concepts of other worldly beings and power. I hope him becoming more acquainted with Sonicâs World will be represented with Sonic-music-turned-movie-soundtrack-appropriate music. In the end, I donât expect Carrey to do a familiar take on Eggman of the games and previous cartoons, but I can imagine him effectively showing the effects of a yearâs worth of isolation in a mushroom world on an already egocentric and eggcentric man. So I have positive thoughts for Eggman. If the sequel suddenly belly flops in quality compared to the first movie, Iâll still come for Carreyâs Eggman performance.
6) Â The main cast of characters for the sequel
To summarise, this is my compromise on what the main cast of characters in the sequel will be. Consisting of both the characters I want to see get focused on, and the characters likely to get focused on. For the record, I know that this is way too early to properly make any predictions about the main cast, but this is mostly tied to personal opinion, as well as deduction, so take these with a grain of salt.
Conclusion
Now, I could be way off with my speculations, but I think as of now, with little to no information about the sequel, my thoughts, desires, and worries for the sequel are justified (and of course a little much). But now that I got these out of the way, Iâm hoping this will either collect dust here instead of the back of my mind, or that this could spawn more discussion in the future when more info about the sequel comes up in the seemingly far-off future of 2021.
#sonic movie sequel predictions#sonic movie#my posts#i'm thinking of organizing my posts more#but ik it's easier said than done given how sporadic i am with everything in general#i'll get better i promise#if y'all got any comments or opinions about this feel free to respond

What about the rest of the Forgotten Sonic Characters?
With Sonic Mania Plus comes two returning characters, Mighty and Ray! After 20+ years theyâve finally made their comeback ever since their debut in the segasonic arcade game! Even the Hooligans have made a semi-cameo appearance in the form of the Heavy Magicianâs illusions in Mirage Saloon Zone! Since Mania is a celebration of every Sonic game ever it was nice to experience these old characters revitalized back to life!
But with the revitalization of old characters, what does that say about the state of the rest of the forgotten sonic characters? Will they ever see the light of day again? Do some have a more chance of appearing again? Or are they doomed to obscurity? Letâs review the list, starting from when they were introduced and their last major appearance! Starting with:
Sonic CDâs Rosy the Rascal (1993) Latest appearance Sonic R (1996)
Iâm sure all of us were disappointed when she wasnât playable in mania plus. But! With her appearance in the christmas special, she may become playable in the next sonic mania game! Or at least a cameo other than an Amy Doll.
Sonic Triple Troubleâs Fang the Sniper (1994), last appearance Sonic Fighters (1996) and you know what? Letâs throw in Bean and Bark (1996), last appearance Fighters Megamix (1996)
âHey! Whatâs the big idea! We just saw them in Mania! You even said they were in Mania!â Well thatâs where youâre kinda wrong kid. I said semi-cameo. The hooligans did not actually appear in Sonic Mania, at least not in their actual forms. Right, remember those three were just illusions by the magician. While those were references sure, those arenât actually the hooligans. While their appearance in a next game like mania is less likely (given they were mirage saloonâs gimmick, and theyâve already had their representation) I wouldnât be surprised if there wasnât at least one reference to them in the near future.
Next up! Knuckleâs Chaotixâs Chaotix! (1995) with Espioâs last appearance in the Sonic Fighters (1996)
âUh hey, what gives? The Chaotix crew have already appeared in modern games, they were just in Forces and Vector is in TSR! what are you on?â Well what Iâm on, you see reader, is on Iizukaâs bullshit! You see since their first modern appearance on Sonic Heroes, Takashi Iizuka has stated on record that the modern chaotix crew is not the same characters as the ones in the 32x game. You see when development on the chaotix game was shifted from sonic team to another developer, the story hadnât been written yet. Same with the characters characterization. Thatâs why you have a sophisticated 16 year old Charmy. Hot headed detective Espio. Pacifist nomad Mighty. God-fearing, music-loving Vector! While some of the character traits were carried over (like charmy being the glue that held the chaotix together, mighty is still a pacifist in mania, vector still has his headphones, while espioâs detective shtick got applied to the whole crew), they were basically new characters. Even though the chaotix game was viewed noncanon for years, with countless references to it in sonic mania, it seems that sega is much more willing to accept the chaotix as it was. It is very likely that this may get retconned (given how bullshit some of Iizukaâs statements on plotline are), they even might actually cameo in the next mania game if ever!Â
Tails Skypatrolâs Witchcarters! (1995)
Finally some actual forgotten characters! Bet you didnât know they exist huh! Well you probably do if youâre reading this list, but i digress. Introducing the witchcarters, Carrotia the Rabbit, Fockewulf the Wolf, Bearenger the Bear and Witchcarter. These characters served as one-off antagonists and henchmen in this spinoff game, where they were left ignored for around 20 years until Archie Sonicâs Eggmanâs Dozen arc where they were given redesigns to fit the modern era. They are the less iconic of the two groups of antagonists that Tails has had to fight. But they are very likely to appear in the next mania-like game.
Tails Adventureâs Battle Armada (1995)
Oof another Game Gear title but one thatâs more memorable than skypatrol! Along with a metroid-style gameplay, we are introduced to the battle armada! Speedy, his father and Dr. Fukurov are a few of the notable casts introduced here! For around 20 years they were ignored until Archie Sonic (again). They are given a much bigger role compared to the witchcarters! The idea of Speedy as a rival to Tails like metal sonic is to sonic, is such an interesting concept to me! they have a greater chance of appearing in the next mania like game as compared to skypatrol!
Sonic the Fighterâs Honey the Cat! (1996)
Yeahhh, ok letâs be blunt. I love honey the cat. But she probably wonât appear in a game any time soon. Hereâs why: Sheâs basically the mobian version of an already existing character (candy from fighting vipers). Sheâs a hacked character in the arcade version, removed from the gcn port and an easter egg in the latest port. She was only limited to cameos in the comic before finally debuting properly in the sonic the fighters arc in archie sonic. While Sega has definitely been more lenient with her, unless thereâs another fighting game that will come out, honey wonât be appearing any time soon. (and if she does I really hope they use the rest of the fighting vipers cast too, Pane the Boar exists now! and itâs not like anyoneâs using the IP! Iâd like it if they just,,,, retooled fighting vipers and itâs characters for a sonic fighting game spinoff without sonic characters haha)
Sonic Râs Metal Knuckles and Tails Doll (1996)
Sonic R introduced the counterfeit counterparts to the other 2/3s of team hero. Metal Knuckles and Tails Doll. While I bet they were only created to fill out the roster, we canât deny that their designs are cool. I donât want to rule them out because theyâre 3d characters since Bean and Bark made 2d appearances in mania, but itâs a mystery on what kind of role theyâll fulfill. Metal Sonicâs first appearance in CD was explicitly clear that he was your rival, someone to beat. These twoâs appearances are kinda shoehorned as someone you have to race with but thereâs no backstory. Unless thereâs racing challenge in the next mania game or these characters are retooled to being a miniboss, they probably wonât appear in a major role in the next mania game, if they ever appear itâd probably be as a background cameo. (which is a shame!)
Sonic Adventure DX and Adventure 2 Battleâs Tikal and Chaos! (1999) latest appearance Tikal-Sonic Runners (2015) Chaos(illusion)-Forces (2017)
Finally weâre out of the classic era and into the adventure era! The adventure era is regarded by a lot as either a. a transitional era between classic to modern sonic, or as a part of the modern sonic era. either way this is where tikal and chaosâs first and playable appearances were made. Now this is a weird case since Chaos came from the Master Emerald and Tikal is a ghost. In their ending you can see them hanging with the chao. Ever since then theyâve been MIA. While I thought they went back into the emerald, it seems that itâs actually questionable what happened to their fate. Will we ever get to see them again? Well this is where things get pretty dicey here on out. These characters donât have âClassicâ immunity, meaning they dont have the possibility to appear in the next mania-like game since they arenât classic. Unless we have another storyline regarding the echidna colony (unlikely due to penders) then we probably wont see tikal and chaos in a major way any time soon.
Sonic Shuffleâs Void and Lumina (2000)
With character designs looking more akin to NiGHTS into Dreams than a sonic characters, void and lumina are the more different looking characters. Opting for a more fairy look instead. Sonic Shuffle is a board game somewhat akin to mario party. These characters were one-off characters, and i guess thatâs it. Unless sega makes another board game using the mainline sonic universe (not storybook sonic) then we wonât see these two again anytime soon.
Sonic Hero/Advance 3/Battleâs Vanilla and Chocola and Emerl/G-merl (2003-2004)
Woof, thatâs a lot of characters. So letâs tackle them one by one shall we? Vanilla is Creamâs mother. Kidnapped ala princess peach style in the advance games, she is creamâs driving force to join sonicâs team into taking eggman down. Likewise, Chocola is Cheeseâs brother. These two chao are pets of Cream. Chocola is Creamâs driving force to join team Amy into taking down eggman in sonic heroes. Emerl was a robot that died in Sonic Battle and Gemerl is the reconstructed gizoid from emerlâs remains, after the events of advance 3, gemerl lives with cream and vanilla, often portrayed in the comics as the bodyguard for the two. So how likely are they to appear? Well not anytime soon by the looks of it. They only appear if Cream has a heavy role in the story, and with each passing installment cream has been getting lesser roles. I like to think of Cream as the ânext sonicâ. She has the drive and the heart to become the succeeding hero. Iâd love for her to get her own series of games where she is the hero. But unless she gets more roles or she gets her own spinoffs (not likely), these three wont appear anytime soon.
Sonic Riders (2006) latest appearance for storm-Sonic Free Riders (2010) for Jet and Wave-Olympics (2020)
Sonic Riders introduced three babylon rogues. Jet was introduced as Sonicâs rival when it came to races, a title loosely held by metal and shadow (metal was created to be sonicâs rival at everything and shadow was conceptualized as being an antithesis to sonic, jet is the first to be his rival in speed only). Given the nature of these games itâs actually a surprise as to why they didnât appear in team sonic racing, or in their two previous racing games. Jet and Wave appeared in the olympics 2020 recently but storm has been mia lately. When the next racing game does come out and when they expand their roster we might see the babylon rogues debut in some sweet rides!
Sonic 06âČs Elise
Unless itâs in a remake Elise has no chance of returning back due to the whole nature of 06 (and itâs storyline)
Sonic and the Secret Rings and the Black Knightâs Shahra, Merlinus, Caliburn
Not likely given that they are one-off characters in a storybook.
Sonic Rush Adventureâs Eggman Nega and Marine (2007)
Iâd really love for Marine to appear again. Eggman Nega appeared in Rivals, he even appears in the olympic games, why canât marine appear again? Sadly, unless we get a game that involves the sol dimension, these two are out of the question.
Sonic Chroniclesâs entire cast (2008)
Haha. no. Most well-known as the first rpg-like game that involves the sonic characters. This game introduces Shade along with other characters. However due to the Penders lawsuit, these characters are now off limits, even to sega. this may also be the reason why we have not seen gemerl again.
Sonic Unleashedâs Lah and Chip (2008)
Chip is the Light Gaia and Lah was made for the special. We probably wonât see these characters again despite having the best writing so far.
Sonic Colorsâs Yacker (2010)
Yacker didnât fare well compared to the rest of his wisp friends. and honestly? I donât feel too bad. while he may appear if sonic ever does need a flagship representation for the wisps, i doubt heâll have another big role like in colors.
Sonic Lost Worldâs Zeti (2013)
Cause letâs face it, only Zavok and Zazz are in the limelight recently. The Zeti are a very polarizing addition to the sonic cast. they donât have the same rep as the wisps, yet theyâre designs are a bit too unique to just be left behind again. What segaâs doing now though is a bit disappointing. Half ass shoe horns into plots. Well at least for TSR, which is a racing game spin-off. We also saw this in forces (along side chaos and shadow of all people). I just hope this isnât a trend that persists. Either make a proper plot or donât include the character at all sega. as to when weâll see them again, that is up to sega. this is a bit of a cloudy are cause sega doesnât seem to be afraid to use them, but for some reason they arent too confident either.
Sonic Boomâs Sticks.(2014)
Unless Thereâs another boom game or Sticks is redesigned to modern standards as opposed to boom standards, weâll probably not see her again. which is disappointing.
Sonic Forcesâs Infinite and OC character (2017)
They arenât really forgotten since itâs only been 2 years. But infiniteâs basically been forgotten already! He has no appearances in other games outside forces. Not even in team sonic racing, youâd think heâd be a shoe in, but he isnt! Youâd think the make your own avatar would be something thatâd be implemented from everygame onward (ngl it was the only good thing about forces) but itâs also isnt seen in tsr. which seems like wasted opportunities!

What are your opinions on the Draconic and Efreeti bloodlines? I know I've told you about my sorcerer with those two cross blooded, but I don't remember if you've talked much about them on their own.
Ooo, a combo analysis request! :D
Iâll go by the parts. When in doubt, I list Draconic first, then Efreeti (alphabetization by bloodline).
Class Skill: Draconic gets Perception, which is the most important skill in the game -- bar none. Efreeti gets Knowledge (the planes), which can be useful, but is the class skill most bloodlines grant anyway (to the point that you wonder why it isnât just a Sorcerer class skill). Weâre talking A+ vs. B+ (maybe A-).
Bonus Spells: 3rd - mage armor/enlarge person; 5th - resist energy/scorching ray; 7th - fly/fireball; 9th - fear/wall of fire; 11th - spell resistance/persistent image; 13th - form of the dragon I/planar binding; 15th - form of the dragon II/plane shift; 17th - form of the dragon III/giant form II; 19th - wish (both).
The Draconic bloodlineâs spells are almost entirely support ones, whereas the Efreeti spells cover the more prominent Fire spells (save burning hands [eh] and meteor swarm). I donât think thereâs a wrong answer here: youâre almost assured to select the bonus spells from the Efreeti bloodline anyway and several of the Draconic bloodlineâs spells (mage armor, fly, fear) are ones that would benefit most any caster.
Bear in the mind that mage armor is what you use to make bracers of armor and doesnât stack with them, so unless you find a better arm slot item that bonus spell might become a dud. You canât swap out bloodline spells known, sadly, so that is a drawback.
The only non-Sorcerer spell on either list is (oddly enough) spell resistance, which grants SR equal to 12 + your caster level. That pretty much means enemy casters have to roll a 13 to affect you with spells; not an impossible task by any means. As a 5th-level spell (10th character level), youâre likely to find other (and probably better) ways of getting SR if you want it. In general, if you want SR, you want the base value to be pretty high.
Overall, youâre going to have uses for the majority of the spells on either list, but the Draconic one has possible duds at higher levels. Efreeti wins in that regard (unless you donât want to turn into a giant). Bear in mind the shapeshifting for later, though.
Bonus Feats: Draconic - Blind-Fight, Quicken Spell, Skill Focus (Fly), Skill Focus (Knowledge [Arcana]), Toughness; Efreeti - Dodge, Empower Spell, Lightning Reflexes, Skill Focus (Knowledge [Planes]), Weapon Finesse; Both - Great Fortitude, Improved Initiative, Power Attack
Power Attack will work quite well with your growth spells and Improved Initiative is always great to pick up. Empower Spell and Quicken Spell are both rather nice to have. If you go Dragon Disciple, youâll need to take any Efreeti-specific feats beforehand. DO NOT TAKE TOUGHNESS.
Bloodline Arcana: +1 damage per die rolled on spells with the same energy descriptor as your bloodline/free Energy Substitution (Fire) on energy spells.
These are both rather good for a pyromancer, so I can see why youâd want the Crossblooded archetype with them. Combining them, youâd get things like chain fire lightning with bonus damage, which is just awesome. It also doesnât word it like itâs the actual Energy Substitution feat, so you can use this with [Force] and [Sonic] spells. Load up on those and youâll be practically unstoppable.
Bloodline Powers:
1st - Claws (with energy damage at 7th level) or Fire Ray (30 ft. ranged touch, 1d6 + 1/two SORCERER levels fire damage). If you were to decide to multiclass (say, into Dragon Disciple), Fire Ray wouldnât be worthwhile. Heck, itâs not as good as that Fiery Burst feat I mentioned.
3rd - Draconic gets Nat Armor and some Fire Resistance, whereas Efreeti gets more Fire Resistance. The Draconic one would free up any need youâd have for an amulet of natural armor and either way the resistance becomes useless to you (you gain immunity to Fire at 20th level in either bloodline).
9th - 30-ft cone of fire (1d6 per Sorcerer/Dragon Disciple level) 1 (9th)/2 (17th)/3 (20th) times per day (+1 for Dragon Disciple) or giant form I (but you turn into an Efreeti and get its heat ability) once per day.Of the two, Iâd take the giant form I unless I were to go into Dragon Disciple. Giant form I is a 7th-level spell, so youâre casting something effectively five levels before you could otherwise, whereas the coneâs length is fairly short.
Giant form I gives you Large size, +6 Strength, -2 Dex, +4 Con, +4 nat armor, low-light vision, Darkvision 60 ft., Fire Resistance 20, and Cold Vulnerability. You already have that Fire Resistance without the vulnerability and you might have low-light vision or Darkvision from your race (I forget what you said; Iâm assuming Ifrit), so really what this does is increase any natural armor youâd get at that level from the Draconic bloodline and otherwise works like righteous might (but no DR, instead getting an additional +2 Str and +2 Con).
15th - Fly 60 ft. (average) whenever you want or +30 to your base land speed. Flight is always needed, so this frees up needing the spell or an item, but average maneuverability is rather lame and air speeds are generally much slower bang for your buck than land speeds (because youâre moving in three dimensions instead of two, so you need a faster speed). There are feats for that, but youâll not want them at that level -- especially if you go Dragon Disciple. There are also spells (Iâll have to look some up later).
20th - Blindsense 60 ft. and immunity to paralysis, sleep, and fire or immunity to fire, plane shift once per day to or from the Elemental Plane of Fire, and limited wish once per day as a spell-like ability.Efreeti all the way here. Never pass up wish of any kind if you can help it.
There are three things to bear in mind when dealing with these bloodline powers specifically:
How melee focused are you going to be? The claws power demands melee. You can supplement it with your growing powers, but otherwise Iâm betting youâre going to want to use your feats for something else.
Are you going to go into Dragon Disciple? As I wrote before, if youâre doing the Draconic bloodline, thereâs almost no reason not to do the Dragon Disciple. Because of the wording, going into Dragon Disciple will advance both of your bloodlines (itâll work with Crossblooded), so again, there is almost no reason not to take this prestige class.Reasons you might have: another prestige class that more directly benefits your theme, multiclassing, ... Thatâs really it.The greatest thing about this? You donât have to worry about losing blindsense, wings, or the cone. Effectively, youâre going to get both of your 9th- and 15th-level bloodline powers just because of the wording. You also get form of the dragon I/II as spell-like abilities (cannot be counterspelled), so that would free up your 13th- and 15th-level bonus spells known.
They wonât work with feats and abilities that benefit your spells. I bring this up because you canât use your Bloodline Arcana on your Fire Ray or your clawsâ elemental damage and if you want to take Spell Focus or anything, it wonât apply.
Now, the downside of Dragon Disciple is that youâll have to invest in feats to get your full casting back, but thatâs not that big of a deal unless you have certain feats you must take at high levels.
Overall: The Draconic bloodline is a varied and useful bloodline on its own, but not exceptionally good. However, if itâs paired with the Dragon Disciple, there arenât many that are better. The Efreeti bloodlineâs capstone ability is fantastic, but effectively you get a dud of a 3rd-level ability (nothing left over) and your 1st-level ability is only slightly better than a cantrip (and even then is lacking the key range youâll want). Together, the two are fantastic.
Notes and Other Options: If you only want a couple of things on one Bloodline, the Eldritch Heritage feat chain might be worthwhile. It wonât net you the capstone ability or bloodline arcana (which is a major downside in this particular case) and wonât qualify for Dragon Disciple (in which case youâd want Draconic as your primary bloodline), but spares your Will saves and wouldnât interfere with advancing your other bloodline.
As I noted, Fiery Burst is strictly better than Fire Ray: at-will, Close range (25 + 5 ft/2 caster levels), 5 ft.-radius burst that deals 1d6 fire damage per level of the highest level Fire spell you are able to cast at a given moment (you need the spell known and an available spell slot to use the feat), with a Reflex save for half damage. Neither would be great against Rogues, but the range, damage progression, and number of possible/probable targets on Fiery Burst is much more forgiving than Fire Ray. You canât take Fiery Burst until you can cast 2nd-level spells (4th level, meaning your feat for being 5th character level), so at minimum it will have a better range and deal far more damage than Fire Ray would at the same level.
Broken? OP? No, I wouldnât say so. The whole point of Reserve feats is that they prevent you from using something more powerful (in this case, scorching ray or fireball) to give you a 5e-style cantrip. Still, it being late 3.5, some DMs might balk.
Iâm not going to poo-poo having a Fly speed, but unless your opponents are also flying, itâs not going to be of much benefit to you when youâre doing melee stuff (if you intend to go that route). Youâd need Flyby Attack for that, but you probably wonât qualify for it at a time when you could take it.

Mini Fanfic #259: Babylon Rouge vs. Ace Pilot (Super Smash Bros Ultimate)
One Peaceful Afternoon in Smash Town....
Falco: (Walking Alongside his pals) I'm telling you guys. 2020 might be our biggest year yet.
Fox: You know, this is the first time I've ever seen you get this excited for the New Year.....or everything else for that matter..... What's the occasion?
Falco: Nothing much. Just happy to live in a new decade.
Banjo: (Smiles Brightly) I'd say. There's so many things I wanna learn and experience in this fancy town right here.
Kazooie: (Gently Grab Banjo's paw with a Soft Smile) And I'll be right by this big lug's side every step of the way. Just to make sure he doesn't get himself hurt.
Fox: Well since we're on a topic of this year's resolution, I suppose mine would to be to just live life and see where it takes us. (Turns to Banjo and Kazooie) Congratulations on being a couple by the way.
Banjo/Kazooie: Thank you/Thanks.
Falco: See? This is what I've been saying. With all these simple and chill resolutions we're having, 2020 is gonna be a year of surprises, excitements, and not a single random bullsh-
???: Hey, Lombardi!!
Falco and the others turns around and see a green, cocky looking hawk rode past them on a hoverboard like device. Then, begins to get off of that hoverboard and land a perfect landing on the ground.
???: (Starts Smirking as he made his way towards Falco and crew) I've finally found you.
Fox: (Turns to Falco) Do you know him?
Falco: Not a clue. (Turns back to the green hawk) You mind telling us who you are, kid?
???: (Acts all Smug like) Well, if you must know, I'm Jet the Hawk. The new generation of the Babylon Rouges and Legendary Wind Master.
Fox: Babylon Rouges....... Aren't they're known for being band of theives?
Jet: (Smiles Proudly) The one and only.
Fox: Really don't think that's anything to be proud of....
Jet: ('Scoffs') Like I need some approval from a goody two shoes Space Pilot like yourself....
Fox: (Rolled his Eyes) Least we made an honest living on what we do......
Banjo: (Amazed by the Hoverboard Jet is holding) Woooah.....What are those?
Jet: This beauty right here is the Extreme Gear. Hover itself flawlessly with extreme air.
Banjo: Amazing......I wanna try it-
Kazooie: (Place her wing on Banjo's shoulder with a genuine worry on her face) I don't think that's a good idea, big guy.
Jet: You should listen to your girlfriend if I were, bear boy. (Starts Smirking) Don't wanna to slip off and bust your fat ass on the floor now don't ya?
Kazooie: (Glares Intensely at Jet) Hey, don't be standing here and insulting my Honey Bear like that, bird brain!
Jet: Why don't you walk over here and say it to my face, Little Miss Chicken legs.
Kazooie: (Cracking her Wing Knuckles) Gladly...
Banjo: (Immediately Stops Kazooie from Going anywhere closer towards Jet) Kazooie, don't! You don't have to stoop up to his level. Please?
Kazooie: (Took one look in Banjo's eyes before sighing) Alright. I won't start a fight.....
Banjo: (Hugs Kazooie) Thanks, Kazooie.
Kazooie: (Hugs Banjo back with a smile)
Jet: Yeah. You better listen to that Honey Bear of yours, Chicken Legs.
Kazooie: (Giving Jet the Middle Finger while Hugging Banjo)
Jet: (Gives Kazooie a middle finger right back at her)
Falco: Alright, kid, if you're not just here being a little shit to all of us, then what do you want?
Jet: Why it's simple.....(Points his finger at Falco) Falco Lombardi, I challenge you to a race!
Falco: (Almost at a loss of words before snickering)
Jet: (Felt Insulted) Hey! What's so funny?
Falco: (Still Sniggering) Sorry....But you're challenging me? In a race? On that little hoverboard or whatever?
Jet: They're Extreme Gears! Not Hoverboards!!
Falco: Yeah, Whatever. Look, I hate to break it to ya, kid, but I'm gonna have to decline your little race challenge.
Jet: What? You're chicken?
Falco: Not in a slight. In fact, if we were to race in airships, I would've beat your sorry ass with no problem. I just don't feel like racing with someone whose gonna be a little egocentric prick to me and pals. (Walks Away with the gang) Let's get out here, you guys.
Jet: Guess you really are getting old after all...
Falco: (Suddenly Feels like he heard a record scratched as he slowly turns back at Jet) ...........Pardon?
Jet: (Starts Acting Smug Again) I mean, it's only natural for someone like you to start passing their prime. Isn't that right, Gramps?
Fox: Okay. I think we think we have just about enough out of-
Falco: (Storms Off) I'll be right back....
Fox: (Noticed Falco Sprint off somewhere) F-Falco?
Other so of Smash Town......
Falco: (Grumbling while walking inside the Mechanic store) I'll show that little twerp who's "passing his prime".....(Ring the bell on the register counter) Yo! Does anyone work here?!
Slippy: (Suddenly Pops up from the Counter) Can I help you sir-Falco, is that you?
Falco: (A bit Surprised) Slippy? What are you doing here?
Slippy: I work here.
Falco: (Look around the store before staring back at Slippy) Really?
Slippy: Yeah, man. I've been telling you guys that for weeks now, remember?
Falco: (Slowly Starts to Remember Slippy telling him and Fox that he got hired to work at some Mechanic job at some point) Oh......right.....
Slippy: ('Sigh') So...is there anything you need me to help you with or....
Falco: Yeah. Do you guys have one of those Extreme Hoverboards or whatever here?
Slippy: You mean Extreme Gears? Oh definitely. We got all kinds of them right here. There's only three types for each and every different designs we have: And that's Speed, Flight, and Power. Which one do you prefer the most?
Falco: I'll take the one that goes fast.
Slippy: Speed Type it is! (Walks towards the back room) I think I got what you need right at the back.
Falco: Take your time, Slip. Not too much time, though!
Slippy: (In the back) 'Kay!
Four Minutes Later.....
Slippy: (Came back with Custom made Extreme Gear in his hands) Here you go, Falco. One Speed-Type Extreme Gear!
Falco: (Look a bit Surprised by the Extreme Gear Slippy got for him) Woah....Slip....you made this?
Slippy: (Smiles Proudly) Yep! Customize it myself.
Falco: It look like a mini version of our Arwings.....
Slippy: That it does. But I gotta ask: Why exactly do you need this again?
Falco: ('Scoffs') Some twerp name Jet challenge me to a race....
Slippy: Jet? As in Jet the Hawk of the Babylon Rouges?
Falco: I take it you guys know them too?
Slippy: Falco, everyone here knows who those guys are. They're one of the reason why we sale these Extreme Gears in the first place. They made them look so cool and flashy. (Worried Expression) You sure you wanna accept his challenge like that?
Falco: The kid called "Gramps", Slip. Of course I'm not gonna let that slide.
Slippy: Falco-
Falco: (Gave Slippy the money for the Extreme Gear and took it with him outside) Don't worry, I'll be just fine. Just wish me luck, alright?
Slippy: ('Sigh') Okay.....
Meanwhile........
Banjo: So............Are you another one of Sonic's friends or......
Jet was about to open his mouth about Banjo's question when suddenly.....
Falco: (From a distance) Hey, Twerp!!
Jet and the rest of Falco's friends turn to see the Ace Pilot walking towards them while carrying his custom made Extreme Gear from under his arm.
Jet: (Crosses his arm) Well, look who decided to come crawling back?
Fox: Falco, what are you doing?
Falco: (Puts down his Extreme Gear as it starts hovering in low air) About to prove this little turd who's boss.
Kazooie: (Raised an Eyebrow) Do you even know how to ride that thing?
Falco: (Trying his hardest to maintain his balance once he got on the gear) Not... Exactly. But I'm a quick learner so....(Found his Balance) I'm good.
Fox: (Facepalms) You can't be serious right now..... You're gonna get yourself killed!
Falco: Relax, Fox. I'll be fine. Don't worry. Cause there ain't no way I'm bout to lose to some cocky little twerp and let him get away from calling me "Old"!
Jet: Ha! Keep dreaming, Gramps. (Drop his Extreme Gear on the ground which starts hovering in low air as well) Cause I'm about to beat you to the dust. (Got on the Extreme Gear woth a cocky attitude) I'll show you why they called me "The Legendary Wind Master" for a reason.
Falco: (Rolled his eyes) Bet you named that yourself....
Jet: (Starts Blushing while getting mad) No I Didn't!!!! (Turns to Banjo) You! Honey Bear!!
Banjo: (Points at himself)
Jet: Yeah, you! Come over and start the race! I don't have all day!!
Banjo: (Hurried himself over towards the middle of two racer) Okay! (*Ahem*) Now....Falco, are you ready?
Falco: (Gave Banjo a thumbs up) Ready as I ever been, bud.
Banjo: And umm...Jet, are you-
Jet: Yes, I'm ready! Now hurry up and start the race already!!!
Banjo: Okay! Umm....On your mark.......
Jet: (Smirks at Falco) Hope you're ready, Gramps. Cause there's no way I'm gonna lose.
Falco: Neither am I, twerp.
Banjo: Get set.............GOOOOO
A Half An Hour of the race later......
Back at Smash Mansion.....
Fox: (Healing Falco's wounds) This is EXACTLY why you don't EVER accept some random challenge and on something you have little to no knowledge of!
Falco: (Getting tired of Fox's nagging) Alright! Alright! I get it! I won't accept that stupid challenge like that again....
Kazooie: (Chuckles at the video she recorded of Falco flopping off of his Extreme Gear onto the ground once the race even started) Ah man...I can't believe I got all of this on film...
Banjo: (Smiles a little at Falco) Well we're glad that you're okay now, Falco.
Falco: Thanks, Banjo. And what the hell, Kazooie? I thought we were pals.
Kazooie: (Shrugged with a smile) We are. But you gotta admit, seeing you fall of your Gear like that was pretty funny.
Banjo: (Glares Softly at his girlfriend) Kazooie.
Kazooie: ('Groans') Fine....... I'll delete the video.....Sorry, Falco.
Falco: Ehh.... it's fine... I'm just glad it's all over now....(Felt the sting once Fox gently poke a cotton stick of perxocide alcohol on his bruised cheek)
Fox: (Sigh as he continues to slowly patched up Falco's wounds) You and me both.....
Falco: You know....I never take you as being a worry wart, Fox.
Fox: Obviously, it's because you're one of my best friends. I'm bound to worry you eventually... ('Sigh') Like Banjo said, we're just really glad that you're okay now...
Falco: (Smiles Softly at his Best Friend/Leader) Thanks, man.

Eugenesis, Part Six Scene Two: Even Roberts Is Concerned At This Point
Ultra Magnus, Deathâs Head, Siren, and Galvatron have just reached Aquaria, thanks to the transwarp drive. They reenter reg-space and find themselves faced with the Thermopylae, leaving the orbit of a collapsing planet. Someone brings up whether or not they shouldnât, you know, go down to the planet that looks about two minutes from self-destructing, but theyâve got to go get the Matrix, which they still believe to be in the underwater base.
We, as followers of the narrative, already know that the Matrix, Xenon, Haxian, and a bunch of nasty little baby makers are on that ship, and decidedly not on the planet anymore. The Aquaria team, unfortunately, does not have access to such information, and they dive down into the ocean, into that massive abyss that the Quintesson base is tucked into.
Siren, I am so sorry, dude.
Over with Optimus in the Ark, weâre still being ridiculous.
Optimus Prime, who has been around these folks (all of whom have literally millions of years of experience on him when it comes to fighting thanks to his dirt nap) for a grand total of maybe a day, thinks heâs fit to judge and damn everyone, in one of the most arguably high-stress situations to have ever befallen this entire race. Maybe the whole âturn out you only get to live for three more years after you wake up on Earthâ thing is getting to him more than he cares to admit. I know Iâd be a bit bleak if I found out I died in a video game made by some nerd with two first names.
The first Tridents are coming towards them over the horizon, and Optimus orders the aerial forces to take them down. Â
I like this little snippet.
Joining the Quintesson ships are our Quintessential Flying Fucks, using their jet bodies to their advantage- letâs not forget, for as much time theyâve spent within the story, they havenât been seen by a vast majority of the Transformers. Most of the robot who saw them on Earth are either off-world or dead. Itâs a hell of an advantage for them.
Sevax, no, you fool! If you leave now, weâll never get your lore!
While all this is happening up in the air, Optimus tells Mirage to move in. He and his team of ground troops jump out of the back of the ship, losing about half of their numbers to missile fire and lasers. Itâs messy. Those who werenât killed on the way down find themselves surrounded by Sharkticons and hoverbikers. This, too, is messy. Tracks is dead. Bonecrusherâs wounded enough to need to be picked up by Mirage. Â
How do you keep surviving these things, Swindle? Roberts must really like you or something.
Although, given what heâs done to some of his favorites, maybe not. Swindle may just be one lucky bastard.
A few of the remaining team members nab some hoverbikes and start making their way over to the Fortress proper. The battle rages on, more and more robots getting killed in violent, awful ways, to the point where I think even Roberts might have sat back and said âmaybe this is a bit much,â because this little section is ended with:
Back on the Ark, itâs just Optimus and Bluestreak.
I mean, itâs just Bluestreak now.
Now this is an interesting idea, a form of hierarchy based on computing power in the brain. A sort of genetic class-system, that only those who have extra abilities can benefit from. Sort of reminds me of the cold-construction racism in the IDW comics. Yes, I know Roberts didnât come up with that all on his lonesome, itâs just an interesting comparison.
It also explains just why Thunderclash was kidnapped as opposed to Rodimus after the bomb went off.
This little hiccup in their biology really bites them in the ass here, as none of the Quintessons realize that itâs Optimus Frigginâ Prime thatâs coming towards them. He promptly starts kicking tail.
Optimus Prime trying to be as cool as Soundwave, but heâs already shown what a jackass he is in this. Too little too late, Optimus. Better luck next continuity. I bet heâs still thinking âfuck, I hope we all get killed for our warmongeringâ, as heâs bashing skulls in.
Back on the Ark, Bluestreakâs feeling a little lonely, now being the only one aboard. Itâs honestly sort of surprising that a ship that big can be flown by a single pilot, but looks like heâs managing alright. He blasts a hole in the Fortress, weâre reminded that itâs the shape of a pentagon, because Quintessons, and then he zips up into the night sky.
Over at Delphi, Sygnetâs bothering Chromedome by screaming about getting a signal from the folks over at the Fortress. This wouldnât be such a problem, but Chromedomeâs busy working on the new microchip to counteract the Inhibitor Chip, and heâs actually running a little behind on the timeline for the whole thing. Sygnet, in a surprising show of understanding, leaves the room.
Sygnet takes the time to reflect on his personal experience with the Autobot/Decepticon war. Heâs not a fighter, you see, not in the traditional sense. He spent his time devising and constructing weapons- traditional, biological, some that would violate the Geneva convention- and that was how he liked it. He wasnât interested in being an active participant.
And yet he canât help but wish he were fighting alongside Optimus Prime. No one is immune to his charm, it would seem.
As heâs thinking about Cybertronâs collective crush, he follows a set of cables tied to the wall, which lead him to a rather grim scene.
âŠDid they take his legs? Why did they take his legs off? How much processing power could oneâs legâs possibly require when youâre flat on your back? I know that heâs about to do some intense stuff and probably needs all the help he can get, but-
It just seems a little overkill is all.
Soundwaveâs all trussed up like a life-saving turkey, hooked up to the Delphi transmitter and ready to go with the anti-Inhibitor Chip signal.
Soundwaveâs not taking shit from anyone anymore. Heâs had too long a week.
They radio in Chromedome, making sure heâs also good to go on his end- heâs meant to be piggybacking a secondary message alongside Soundwaveâs signal, giving the prisoners coordinates to follow. He says that he is.
Oh, well thatâs very nice of you, Chromedome.
Perceptor doesnât care about niceties though, just giving Soundwave a second of warning that this will probably hurt before flipping the switch.
Soundwave does his thing and then the lights go out.
For, like, the bottom half of the planet.
Luckily, the message got through before that happened.
Over in Kledji, the prisoners are busting out. Shrapnel, an Insecticon, manages to overload the generator for the entire prison, releasing everyone. Folks are transforming like thereâs no tomorrow- honestly, there might not be at this rate- and moving towards the ships outside to get to the Sonic Canyons as fast as they can.
Back over at the Fortress battle, Quantax is standing out on the balcony having a little ego stroke. Â
Itâs got him feeling good. So good, in fact, he decides to join in on the fun, pulling out a rifle and aiming for something easy.
Looks like Mainframe wasnât fast enough this time.
The sight of a fellow Autobotâs head just disappearing makes something snap inside Optimus, or something, because thatâs the point when he decides itâs time to regroup, retreat, and move on to phase two of the plan. He sends out a long-range message to everyone stating this.
Quantax watches as the Ark returns to the field, loads up all its passengers, and then zooms away. Some Sharkticons had climbed onto the front in an attempt to stop it, but theyâre no match for the power of gravity.
Thank goodness that smile wasnât sad or proud, or we might be in trouble here.
Man, I hope he remembered to turn on the artificial gravity before he did that.
Quantax is frigginâ pissed at this turn of events. He storms into the control room and orders every still-functioning trooper to hunt down the Transformers and eliminate them. This battle ainât over âtil he says it is.

Recalling when Sonic called off his race with Tails just to get eggs for Amy, I can't help but think that maybe their relationship developed into something of slowly going romantic where they'd act couple-y without even realizing such as when Sonic fetched eggs for Amy like the "good boyfriend" would or a hypothetical scenario: Sonic wants to taste something Amy is eating, so Amy hands it to him and Sonic just bites it down casually. How's that for a headcanon? Or is it too far-fetched? XD
Please remember that Prompts are on Shutdown! Do not send me any! Sorry! I still have a lot to do!
Prompt:
âW-woah!â Amy was attempting to shimmy across the thin, tree-plank that led to where her and her friends were adventuring to retrieve a valuable artifact disturbed by Knucklesâs antics. While trying to move across, she saw a bug and lost her usually perfect balance.
âAmy! Take my hand!â Sonic, just ahead of her, stopped and reached back. She immediately, while moving left and right on one leg, grabbed it and sighed, seeing him lift it up to the rope above their heads.
âThanks, Sonic. B-but now-!â the rescue caused a shift in the rope as well, shaking as Amy placed both hands on the rope.
âGrrrâŠâ Sonic judged the situation quickly, biting his teeth down as he looked around him. âOkay.â He nodded, then lowered Amyâs hand that he was holding so they were down in the middle of them. âJust use one hand to cross, Iâve got you.â
âAlright.â Amy nodded seriously, and the two continued to scoot across the branch.
Sticks narrowed her eyes behind her, âHmmmrrmmmâŠâ she seemed to be sizing up their activityâŠ
-Later~-
Sonic was in the market place, looking over things before seeing something shiny and pink. âHey! Itâs a bracelet!â he looked it over before a goofy smile skimmed his cheeks. âI bet Amy would like this.â He placed it in his chart, and on the other side of the market place, Amy was eyeing a blue watch that made racing car noises. âHaha!â she giggled into her hand, âOh, Sonic would love this!â she placed it in her basket and walked on.
Sticks, popping her head out of the âexpired/no goodâ waste bin dumpster growled once more, narrowing her eyes at the twoâŠ
-Another time~-
âOh! These cookies just donât look right.â Amy frowned, wearing the pink bracelet as Sonic was fiddling with the blue watch, making it create car engine noises.
âHeheheâŠâ he giddily fixated on itâs endless fun, but Amyâs sigh suddenly drew him away and he looked at her cookie tray she had placed out of the oven. âWhatâs wrong with it? It smells great!â Sonic sat more upright, lowering his knee that was up a moment ago and turning more directly to Amy.
His eyes stayed glued to hers as she spoke, âOh, itâs just that⊠well, the picture made them look so good⊠I hope theyâre okay⊠I was going to give them to those poor, sweater-less orphan penguins butâŠâ she put her hands to her hips, âI canât give them these!â
âWhat about these?â he picked one up, âOw! Hot, hot, hot!â he shook his hand, burning his glove a little bit on some melted chocolate on the side of the cookie.
âOh no! HereâŠâ Amy reached over, about to bite on the gloved-finger to get the chocolate off.
âHey! This chocolateâs mine!â Sonic immediately withdrew the hand and sucked on it himself. âI went through all the hard work of getting it!â
âOh, but it would have burnt your finger!â Amy protested, but he just shook his other pointer finger at her, as though telling it ânuh-uh, this oneâs all mine!â.
Then, his eyes widened. âEmmm~ These are good!â he went in for another, taking a bite. âAmy! You canât give these to the children!â
âH-huh? Why not! I thought you said they were good!?â Amy quickly took the tray away, holding it back from him and examining them. She placed it by the window as he continued-
âBecause theyâve got to be all mine!â
He laughed, thinking himself funny but Amy just rolled her eyes, âYou really like them? I mean, I guess I could add some âflareâ to them, that way, their presentation is a little more decentâŠâ
âI say let the kids have them the way they are!â he relaxed back, smiling brightly to her in comforting optimism. He placed his hands behind his head, closing his eyes, âTheyâll be shoving them in their mouths before ever having the time to look at them!â
His cheeriness brightened up her insecurity, âOhhh⊠You!â she jumped over the table to hug him, disorientating him a moment as his arms flailed out from her sudden affection.
âH-hey! I was only stating my opinion here! Ames!â
âHehehe~ And I encourage you to state it as much as you want!â
âWell, thatâs a first.â
Amy laughed. The two were distracted so much, they didnât see Sticksâs camouflage into a plantâs top-level foliage as she growled and reached in, grabbing a cookie and ducking back down into position.
-Tailsâs place, again, at a later date-
âI donât get it, Tails. Itâs like a conspiracy⊠but it isnât.â Sticks gripped the table, looking angry for some reason.
âIs this about aliens and the government again?â Tails didnât even bother looking up from his inventions, but Sticks just snarled on the side of her mouth.
âGrraawwwhhhh⊠Itâs not about the government, Tails!â she flung her arms up, âThis is of a whole new caliber of lies and deceit. Itâs been right under our noses⊠no⊠this has to do with a company⊠a friendly sort of company of friends⊠friends who canât even noticing how deceptive theyâre being towards each other and their other friends!â she gripped her head, showing her own confusion as Tailsâs ears finally perked up.
âSounds like corruption in the market, if you ask me.â He thought she meant a literal companyâŠ
âUgh.â She shook her head, seeing he wasnât getting it. âWhatever, Iâll keep eyeing the two before I make any further assumptions. But Iâm tellinâ ya!â she rose a finger up. âSomething fishy is going on with Sonic and Amy! Theyâre all giggly lately, talking about each other from across the way, trying out cookies recipes and the like!â She threw out some words that made Tails finally lean up, away from his gear.
âWait⊠you mean⊠theyâre not fighting or anything, right?â Tails seemed concerned on her second comment.
âWhat? No! I said giggly! Werenât you listening to me!?â
âD-donât get offended! You said they were talking about each other behind their backs⊠I got worried.â He put his hands up, covered in black gear-gunk to try and calm her down.
âOh. I said across the way! Not behind their backs!â she defended, âJust come see for yourself.â She started to waddle to the door, looking more ticked off than ever beforeâŠ
Tails finally followed her, giving her to her âspyingâ ways and saw the two walking down the street.
âThey just look like theyâre talking.â Tails seemed a bit skeptical, hiding with Sticks in a bush. âDoesnât this invade their private friend-life?â
âOhhhh, itâs far from being started yet, Tails.â She passed him the binoculars. âDestruction of trust between friends in 5âŠ.4âŠ.3âŠ2âŠ.â she pointed as suddenly a puddle came out in Amyâs way.
âOh no!â she flinched her foot up, but Sonic bowed graciously and suddenly dived backwards, turning at the last moment with Amyâs gasp to push himself up and create a bridge over the puddle.
It was so extra, it made Amy giggle girlishly, covering her face a bit from her blush and walk over him.
It was a terrible idea though because even though Sonic was showing off his strength and chivalry, it also caused discomfort walking over his quills that poked or scratched up against Amyâs ankles.
âOw, oh, ee!â she passed and then smiled down to him as he got up and looked over at being separated from her by the other side of the puddle.
He could have easily spin-dashed over it, but to be dramatic, he pretended to reach for her, throw more rocks in the water to create a bridge, and then hopelessly despair as Amy continued to laugh at his jokes.
Tailsâs mouth hung down as Sticksâs anger peaked, tapping her finger on her folded arms. âTheyâre so adorable⊠itâs like they lied to our faces and then each others!â she was about to jump out of the bush. âYOU TWO ARE LIARS-!â she was thrown back into it by Tails.
âNo, Sticks!â He held her down as she tried to struggle back up from his grasp.
âLet me at those lying, good for nothing-!â
âCalm down, Sticks! They probably donât even know what they look like!â
âHow can they not know how it looks like!? If theyâre together, they should at least have the decency to tell their most trusted friend everâthat is to say me. But instead, they lie to our faces and continued to call each other âa good friendâ. If THATâS a good friend, I want to know what they think a dating dance looks like!â Sticks gestured furiously over to them, showing she didnât buy that crap for jack!
Tails sighed, shrugging with his shoulders slightly. âHonestly⊠Iâm glad theyâre getting along so well. It wasnât always like this⊠They probably just donât want to ârock the boatâ, so to speak.â He nervously twiddled his fingers a moment, blushing. âI-I kinda get that, you know? When the friendshipâs going so well⊠you donât really want to disrupt it by asking something kinda embarrassing like that.â He smiled over to Zooey, working daintily at her stall.
âI-I-It might ruin the great, wonderful⊠charming interactions you already have with each otherâŠâ he melted as the red on his face grew brighter. âY-you know what I mean?â he looked around, seeing Sticks had disappeared suddenly. âS-Sticks?â
âMove, loser. I have some so-called âfriendsâ to bust.â She tried to move around a dude holding flowers out in front of her.
âB-b-but-!â the poor boy was ignored completely as she side-swiped around him and dashed to Sonic and Amy, his arm held out to her as she took it and they walked towards a movie theatre, just chatting excitedly to each other.
Sticks shook her fist, âGET BACK HERE-! YOU TWO ARE MESSINâ WITH MY SANITY AND THIS MUST END!â
âNo! Sticks!â Tails took off after her, âOh, pardon me!â he maneuvered around the boy, before seeing how disappointed the stranger looked and realizedâŠ
Sonic and Amy werenât the only ones who didnât notice blossoming romances that were right in front of their nosesâŠ
The stranger nervously ran behind a wall, âPhew, that was close! If Sticks knew who I was thenâŠâ The boy took off his covering, revealing his intern-self. âThen Iâd have to introduce her to my mother. And after all the times sheâs come to Meh Burger and asked for extra fries⊠I donât know, man. My mom might think itâs serious!â He clutched his head in fright.
Ever since that plane ride, her asking to âget closerâ, heâs never looked at her the same way as all the other customersâŠ
But thatâs a misconstrued story for another day.

Look I wrote something kinda rushed for sonadow week. I know itâs like 4am but I havenât gone to sleep yet so itâs still the 7th to me. For day 1!
Donât judge it too harshly.
Jan 7th: Competition/TeamworkÂ
Shadow always found Sonic a bit hard to understand. He seemed to show up in Shadowâs life more times than he was initially wanted. Shadow used to find Sonic to be something of an annoyance, but recently his perception of the blue hedgehog had begun to change. His feelings for Sonic were ones he would never have imagined himself feeling before. He almost couldnât believe it was real. Him? Attracted to Sonic? It was ridiculous. It was embarrassing. He could try to deny it to himself all he wanted, but it was all too real. Thatâs why he couldnât resist that day when their paths crossed again. That day when Sonic asked.
âHow about a little friendly competition?â Sonic asked with a smirk on his face. His green eyes met Shadowâs gaze and for a moment, he felt frozen in place. He wasnât used to this kind of eye contact, especially not from someone he⊠Well, especially not from Sonic. What did that look in his eyes mean? Shadow blinked, and turned away. He hoped how long he kept Sonicâs gaze wasnât too noticeable. What would he think if he knew?
âHmmph, sure,â Shadow grunted, trying to shrug it off. âI hope you know what youâre getting into, Sonic. Iâm the ultimate lifeform. I wonât lose.â
âWow, you seem pretty sure of yourself, bud,â Sonic teased, smiling even wider. âWhy donât we make this a little more interesting?â
      âHow do you propose that?â
âWell,â Sonic began. âI say that if I win you owe me a favor. One that I can pick after I win. Anything I want.â
âWell thatâs not an unreasonable request at all, is it?â Shadow responded, narrowing his eyes. Shadow imagined it would be something like making him spend more time with him. That wouldnât be so bad, actually, but Sonic was unpredictable. What did he really want?
âYeah! I was thinking the same thing. Not unreasonable at all. Oh, nope. If youâre really the ultimate you know you wonât lose and you know you wonât have to worry about anything I might ask you to do, huh?â
âCorrect.â Shadow nodded. How had Sonic read his reaction like that? Shadow had put up layer after layer around himself. Nobody should have been able to see any of his self-doubt like that. But had Sonic just seen it? Or was he just being his regular cocky self? Damn, was he doubting himself because of these stupid feelings for Sonic? His heart beat a little harder in his chest. Keep up the façade. He told himself that in his head. He asked, âSo what happens when I win?â
âPigs fly I guess. Since thatâll never happen.â  He laughed for far too long at his own joke, before turning back to Shadow and continuing, âOkay, okay. I guess if by some miracle you win that Iâll have to do whatever you want.â
âWill you leave me alone?â Shadow asked, snapping out a bit. He almost immediately regretted saying that. For a split second only, he could tell that Sonic seemed hurt by what he said. That ever-present sparkle in his eyes dulled just a bit, but as soon as Sonic blinked again was back. Damn, that hedgehog was so good at being an optimist. Or was he just trying to hide his pain the way Shadow did? Shadow hated how much of his mental energy he was spending these days trying to figure Sonic out. He was frustrated at these ridiculous feelings and wanted them to stop, but was Sonic leaving really for the better? Maybe it wasnât. Maybe it was, but he sure knew he didnât really want him to.
âDang Shads, I didnât know you felt that way.â
      âI-â
âItâs okay dude, I know you donât mean it. I know you love me.â Sonic waggled his finger at Shadow. Shadow immediately felt thunderstruck. His heart skipped a beat.
      Dammit. Dammit. Dammit. That wording
He knows? That I? That I love? Him? That I love him? Love?
He knew Sonic hadnât meant it like that but, goddamn.
âDonât interrupt me when Iâm speaking,â was all Shadow could manage to say.
âAlright, alright. I wonât do that anymore. Promise.â A moment of awkward silence passed when Shadow found himself at a loss for words once again. Luckily, Sonic continued speaking in his place. âSo you ready to get this started or what? Iâm bored of just standing around.â
âWhat exactly are we going to do for this competition? A race I presume? Thatâs your thing, after all.â
âYou bet! Aww, Shads, you know me so well, donâtcha?â
      âYeah, yeah, whatever.â
âSo, weâre near the shore of this little island weâre on. Iâd say weâre maybe about ten miles in max. Thereâs a real nice spot to the north by the water! Itâs a beach! Super pretty. We can watch the sunset there if we make it in time.â
âThe sunâs about to set right now.â
âYep, I say weâve got about five minutes. Should be plenty of time! Or is that too fast-paced for you?â
âNot at all,â Shadow responded, extending his arms to start stretching them. He cracked some of his joints. âSo, youâll say when?â
      âNow!â
      âWait, now?â
âYep, now!â Sonic began before dashing off. Shadow could hear a âbye!â carrying from the direction Sonic ran off in.
Shadow quickly sprang into action himself.
Getting a headstart. Thatâs totally fair.
Fair? What was he saying? Talking like Sonic was his equal. Shadow was the ultimate. He didnât need things to be fair for him to win. Life was never fair to him. Shadow quickly ducked his head to miss a tree branch that was far too low to the ground. It was good to see that his reflexes were as good as ever.
Was that what Shadow liked about him? That he was the closest thing to an equal he would ever come across? Sonic was a strong ally. Just like himself, he hated to lose. He couldnât accept failure. He always wanted to prove himself the strongest, staying determined against all odds.
Shadow pushed himself further, putting more strength into his legs with each stride. Faster. He had to go faster. Soon, he was able to see Sonicâs form running in front of him.
âSo, finally catching up, eh? Took yaâ long enough.â
âIâm just warming up,â Shadow shot back. âWe canât spend all our energy at the start, can we? Then weâll falter right before the finish line.â He took the lead and smiled, feeling pretty proud of himself.
âWow, thatâs some strategy. Mineâs just to run as fast as I can the whole time, but I guess youâre stuck back at having to pace yourself. Thatâs pretty lame if you ask me.â
âYou-â
âLater!â Sonic waved a hand at Shadow before gaining speed and running off. It seemed like a field of blue energy had just gathered around Sonic, and heâd sped off at a pace Shadow had never seen from him before. What was that?
Shadow breathed in and out with each stride he took. He couldnât lose his cool. Not in the middle of this race. He had to calm down. He felt the wind on his back with every step he took. The wind also felt cool on his face, in contrast to the summer heat. It was refreshing. This was kind of nice. Before meeting Sonic, Shadow had never found running to be an enjoyable experience. It was just something he did to get his mission done. It was all about the objective, not the journey. But now, things were different. Things werenât the same since Sonic had been around. For some reason, even though Shadow was behind, he smiled. He was having fun.
But he had to go faster. It would all be for nothing if he lost so horribly to Sonic. If he was going to run beside Sonic as an ally, as a friend, even if he would never be what he really wanted to be to him, he couldnât put on as pathetic of a performance as he was right now. He pushed himself even further past his limits. He felt the muscles in his legs start to go numb from the force. Then he felt an energy form from deep within his chest. It grew, and in an instant, his lungs felt overfilled with air. His whole body was tingling with force. He saw an orange field of energy form around his body similar to the one he had seen on Sonic before, and Shadowâs speed reached new levels.
It felt exhilarating, for a lack of a better word. His reflexes even felt better. He barely had to dedicate a thought to dodging out of the way of obstacles. It was great. It was exciting. It was fun. He saw Sonicâs form from behind once again, and this time he didnât stop to chat. He took the lead without a word, focusing on the path ahead of him and the adrenaline he was feeling throughout his body. It barely felt like 30 seconds before he could see the ocean on the horizon. The goal was right there, in sight. He was going to win. He pushed his speed more. Sonic couldnât catch up now. He could see the waves washing into the sand. He was so close now. So close, and then-
âHere I come!â
Shadow turned, horror-stricken as he saw a blue blur speed past him at the very last second. Â He was only about twenty feet back when he saw Sonic reach the beach and then slide into the sand, stopping in his tracks right before reaching the water. Shadow jogged to a stop, and stood beside Sonic. He decided to take a step forward and dip his shoes a bit in the water, as if that made any difference.
âI win!â
Shadowâs heart sank. This was humiliating. Embarassing. Losing to Sonic. He faced the ground and closed his eyes. He suddenly felt a force on his back. He turned up to Sonic to see that it was from his hand.
âBut you did a great job, pal! Put up an awesome fight.â
Shadow didnât feel like that was good enough. He should have won, but it did give him a lot of comfort that Sonic of all people was trying to reassure him. Sonic kept his arm on Shadowâs back, and Shadow turned from the ground to meet Sonicâs gaze once again. He had such a nice smile. It was good to see Sonic happy, even if Shadowâs ego was bruised and broken right now. He didnât want to draw attention to the prolonged physical contact that was happening. He wanted to pretend he didnât notice, because the Shadow that Sonic thought he knew would want nothing to do with it.
Sonic pointed ahead with his other hand at the horizon. âItâs pretty, isnât it? Told yaâ!â
âYeah.â
It was. Shadow found that some of the most beautiful things on Earth were the things that he never got to experience on board the ARK. Sunrises. Sunsets. Past him never could have imagined seeing these kings of colors, these kinds of shades of orange, and even a little bit of pink peeking through. He breathed in, trying to savor the moment before it faded into memory. Past him could also have never imagined seeing this kind of thing with Sonic and enjoying it so much.
When it was all down and dusk covered the sky, Sonic broke the silence. âSo, about that favor,â
      Oh no.
âI was thinking that, maybe,â Sonic said, sound a bit nervous when he spoke. Nervous? This was unlike him. âWell, I was thinkingâŠâ
âWhat? Out with it already, please.â
âGive me a minute, dude! Sorry, itâs just. Itâs weird. I canât believe Iâm really saying this.â He put his face in his palm for a moment before chuckling. âI wasnât serious about you having to do what I want, yâknow? Feel free to say no to this but-â
âBut what?â Shadowâs heart was beating a bit faster.
âWill you go on a date with me?â
Shadow couldnât believe his ears. Was this really possible? Was Sonic just playing with his emotions? Did he know somehow and just want to mess with him? Or did he really feel that way? Was it really possible?
Shadow just looked at Sonic, trying to give a serious expression, but failing miserably.
      âWhat?!â
âAre you asking me that for real?â
âWhat? Of course! Why would I joke about something like that, dude? Aaauugh, dude, Iâm sorry. I knew this would be weird!â Sonicâs face was all red, and he buried it again, this time in both hands.
âYes,â Shadow spat out before taking any more time to think and overanalyze. âI will.â
Sonic peeked out from his cover, showing a big smile. His face was still red. âReally?â
âYes really,â Shadow answered, feeling his own face feel hot. âJust donât,â he started, before looking down and trying to hide his own face. âJust donât make it weird.â
âWoohoo! Awesome! That totally went better than I expected.â He gave Shadow a thumbs up.
      Gosh, what a charmer.
âSo, uh, what do you wanna do?â
âOh! Oh, uh, I know this place not too far from here with these ice cream sundaes! Chocolate chip sundae supremes. I got them with an old friend aâ mine a while back. Do you like ice cream?â
âIâve actually never had ice cream.â
âDude, thatâs a total crime! Next youâre gonna tell me youâve never had chili dogs!â
      âNope, never.â
âOkay, we are going to get you some good food on this date right now. That is the mission now. Letâs go! Guess the loser is gonna extend a few more favors,â Sonic said with a wink.
âJust shut up and lead the way.â Shadowâs face had never felt as warm as it did now in his life. How was he attracted to this man? Heâd probably never know.

Itâs Still (Pixelated) Hot Dog Legs Season
Fall should officially be in full swing by now, yet here in NYC (and many other parts of the US), it still feels like summer. Which Iâm not thrilled about, though at the very least, I donât feel so bad for sharing the above (by Robert Penney) so late into September.
On that note, time for a way overdue game culture round up! Itâs been a while, and a LOT been going on. And not to be a downer, but the chaotic weather has been in the news, obviously.
Hereâs a pic from Gamer Geek Nation on Facebook, who shared the aftermath of the Hurricane Harvey, along with: â⊠This is a time when we collectors need to remind ourselves that ultimately, this is just stuff, and our lives are more important. And make sure your collection is insured properly.â

Elsewhere in the world, the Tokyo Game Show just wrapped up, and not to repeat the obvious, but yes⊠the biggest, most exciting news was the Sonic X Hooters collabâŠ

Though the one between Hello Kitty and Game Center CX is far, far better (photo courtesy of Kotaku)âŠ

You also have this comically large Rockman doll, which apparently was available on Amazon but is now out of stockâŠ

Though I mostly wished I had been there to pick up some primo looking attire, like this Mega Drive track jacket that miki800 gave the heads up on before show time (there was also a Dreamcast hoodie that I personally donât think looks as nice, hence why Iâm skipping it)âŠ

I also really like this Pac-Man shirtâŠ

This Galaga shirt as wellâŠ

Also taking place in Japan was an exhibition held by the JARGA (Japan Retro Game Association); miki800 was there and captured some interesting bits of hardware, with the highlight being (IMHO) this Mega Drive clone that resembles a perfect mix of the model 1 MD and the original WondermegaâŠ

Thereâs no preview of the music yet, though may as well share the recently unveiled cover to the third (and final) installment of 8 BIT MUSIC POWERâŠ

Meanwhile, according to Original Sound Version, Mitch Murder has released yet another soundtrack to another game that never existed. In this it didnât come out for the Mega CD and doesnât involve mechaâŠ

Remember that Jet Set Radio figure I showed a while ago? Well, it's finally available for pre-order! Alas, it's not cheap, at least over at Big Bad Toy Store...

BTW, videogamesdensetsu shares with us what Beat looks like, sans-cel shadingâŠ

Sticking with VCD for a tad bit; hereâs what Pulseman looked originally looked like, and he sure was cute!
Whereas NiGHTS looked goofier⊠as well as more menacingâŠ.
Am confident most people will not give a ratâs ass about seeing hand drawn Virtua Racing track designs, but as a massive fan of the series, oh man, oh man, oh man...

Two never before seen Saturn prototypes that must be:Â â[taken] with a grain of salt!â

Apparently Looney Tunes X The Matrix was actually a thing? Somehow this does not surprise meâŠ

The work of Hideaki Kodama was recently highlighted, which was also recently auctioned; I wonder how much this painting of various PC Engine hardware went for?

Yet another Kickstarter mention? Yup. And this one is Jed Henry's third crowdfunding campaign: this particular variant of the Ukiyo-e Heroes concentrates on boss battles, with perhaps my fave piece being his depiction from The Breath of the Wild...

Am particularly fond of this image from the Street Fighter 25th Anniversary art book that grease-howard spotted, of old Chun Li chumming it up with her younger self...

Any and all BoJack Horseman fans out there may want to pick up this piece by Jude Buffum...

legendofnes reminds of that time Batman visited New Donk CityâŠ

It's just a bunch of cyber kids, all just hanging around, by sanigo...
Speaking of the gang, here we have the kids from Persona 5, by @aranciartâŠ

Apparently, if Jedah (from Darkstalkers) ran a juice stand, it wouldnât be the best, according to dreaminerrydayâŠ
The individual who runs SPLENDID LAND describes SLN-003 Gacha Man as a: "vendor robot who dispenses toys. even he doesnât know whatâs inside the capsules, so he always gets excited to find out"...
Meanwhile, hereâs official artwork of Mario and Peach, courtesy of the thevideogameartarchiveâs catalogue of the Mario Golf N64 manual; am pretty sure Iâve seen images of Mario looking distressed, though never to this degreeâŠ
The above is something Super Mario Broth would normally deliver, and speaking of, may as well share some recent faves on that end! Like these photos from a promotional campaign with a Japanese sports drink when promoting Mario Sports SuperstarsâŠ
Instructions found on the arcade cabinet for Vs. Super Mario Bros (which I remember so distinctly, and fondly)âŠ

From some Japanese video guide for the same game (am assuming the home Famicom version this time)âŠ
A greeting card (am assuming a Valentineâs)...
Mario without his hat, as he appears in a Game Boy controller test cart that Nintendo service reps used to calibrate buttons on a the handheldâŠ
And he we have a shortcut in SMB3 that I had no idea existed, and itâs a safe bet that most donât either: âIn Super Mario Bros. 3, the rock between the path to the first fortress in World 4 and the Spade Panel can be destroyed with a Hammer item, allowing the player to bypass the fortress. There is no obvious indication that this rock is destructible, as it is surrounded by decorative rocks. In fact, many guides for Super Mario Bros. 3 do not mention this shortcut.â
As for Super Mario Brothâs counterpart, Sonic the Hedgeblog has seen plenty of action as well⊠largely pinpointing all the obscure references found in Sonic Mania, So head over for that if that sounds like fun to you! Otherwise, thereâs also the Mario Bros having a Sonic PanicâŠ
A reminder of how Sonic looked at one point as he was being prepped for the Dreamcast; it would appear that at a certain point, in Sonic Adventure, he was going to look a lot more realisticâŠ
And this issue with EGM featuring a sneak preview of Sonic 2 is the very first video game magazine that I ever picked up!

Meanwhile, oldgamemags recently posted a page from an issue of GamePro, circa 2000, on a peripheral that allowed the Game Boy to play mp3s. Am sharing it cuz I really want a GB-looking mp3 playerâŠ

So someone on Twitter (who has since protected his account, so Iâll have to refer to nintendolife they snagged the pic before it was locked down) cracked open a electrocardiogram measurement instrument and found... a GBA? Itâs theorized: âperhaps earlier revisions of the unit had different screens, and once the supply chain dried up MiE was forced to source the next best thing?â

vice-s-assistant sez: "OK Guys, Iâm ready to hack."

According to bunney: "i was working at a convention arcade this weekend and some guy cosplaying ryu was playing street fighter with a blunt in his mouth"...

Can anyone tell what's being played here? At the very least, it's a nice shot (via rekall)...

Much like Arcade Crusade, I have no idea whatâs going on, and I agree that whatever it is, it looks intense...

If youâve ever wanted an artistâs rendering of the Raspberry Pi, then look no further than the work of retronatorâŠ

rasec-wizzlbang states: âthose square cross sections of the human skin layers you always see in biology books but as like, a minecraft blockââŠ
Courtesy of Arcade Crusade once again comes a very tender momentâŠ

Is it just me or does this promo image for Food Fight sure does look like a Norman Rockwell painting? As seen on thedoteaters...

Here we have a flyer for a really old SNK arcade game (weâre talking really old; almost a decade before the Neo Geo was a thing) that looks like it was made with todayâs sensibilities, doesnât it?
Also via obscurevideogames is a moment of pathos from Hacchake Ayayo-san 4 - Sexy Olympics - Ayayoâs Live Affection. Itâs⊠pretty obscure alrightâŠ
Yup, that's Hieronymus Bosch-styled Tetris all right (via freeindiega.me)...
crashcarnival presents:Â "true facts of the Ice Age"...
Hey, itâs the Ninja Turtles playing Pong (via rewind01)âŠ
Behold, Fighters Megamix version 2017 (via lonelyfrontier)âŠ

Yup, that is definitely a Chu Chu Rocket skirt  (via radicalhelmet)...

For those who have ever wondered what their Sonic characterâs political leanings are, in relation to the rest of the crew (and canât be bothered to sift through DeviantArt; via erratticusfinch)âŠ

A Dragon Sized Adventure Chapter 41
Chapter 41: The Space Groove
*Crash and all of the other heroes finally enter the Space Terrarium. There are plenty of windows that look out into space here. Most of the walkways here are just scaffolding that is hanging from the ceiling, letting space be freely seen throughout the rest of it (like the Death Egg). There also plenty of machinery and screens about that seem to check the chip itself, although messing with them does nothing, so the might be here for decoration.*
*The doors opens like what you would see on a sci-fi set, with them sliding into the wall.*
Sonic: âAha! I see we got the futuristic doors here. It must mean we are in the last section, the furthest we can go! Eggman always makes it so obvious.â
Shadow: âWell, Sonic, most of our adventures seem to end in space, somehow.â
Von Clutch asides to Pasadena: âSee, I told you they do self-referential humor. They do know they are video game characters.â
Crash: âSo then Eggman and Cortex are probably going to be fought here? Sweet!â *He smiles and takes the leadâŠ*

Badniks: âAlienâ Lab Assistant Pawn: Barely passing not being a direct copy of âthatâ creature, this jet black Lab Assistant Pawn tends to pop the top of its head open and fires a ray gun shot from itâs mouth. Shield Lab Assistant Pawn: They stand on the narrow walkway, shoving their shields to push you backwards. They are probably no match to just being âthrownâ away into a NITRO crate.
Robots: Robot Walker: Strange little contraptions that just walk around. Donât touch them, unless you want to be atomized. Sparky Tentacle-bot Units: Annoying little robots that move around with electric tentacles. They will raise and lower them to try and surprise you as you attack. Slap-E: Cortexâs robot servants that will slap anyone who gets close. They are also very melodramatic.
Mutant: Darth Chimpandog: A Chimpanzee + Dog hybrid that wears a Darth Vader helmet, oxygen pack and some futuristic samurai armor. It climbs around aimlessly until it spots you, which will cause it to swing about and use its laser sword to cut you. Znu: Strange little balls of nightmare that only wear underwear. They work for Cotex since there are few Grimlies about. If you donât attack them, they will use their flashlight as a laser shot to hurt you.
*Cortex appears as a hologram with Uka-Uka.* â *Sigh.* So the end is in sight. Gather the last 5 crystals and once again, you will have defeated me. Whatever.â *He leaves.*
Uka-Uka is confused on how to go on. âI⊠um⊠we will destroy you? Hmm, that doesnât sound right⊠Damn it! Cortex! You threw off my groove!â *He disappears too.*
Well, that was strange. But, welcome everyone, to your second home: SPACE!!! (Echo) ⊠Too much? Aw, well. Anyway, Crash and Silver are entering the dangerous workings of the Death Head and must avoid the various traps that line the walkways like pistons, shrink rays, and flipping platforms (and be careful touching the sides of these unless you want to get burned and have cooked bandicoot and hedgehog for dinner, which is coincidentally what Eggmanâs eating :P ). And try not to fall off the sides of the walkways either unless you want to experience a full vacuum.

Crash dons his jetpack for this level as zero gravity is introduced into the tubes. Both he and Spyro must make their way through the tubes, avoiding things such as the lasers, floating wires, and hot pipes the clutter and constrict the flyable path. Near the end, the hazards start disappearing as the final doors open up into the open space outside of the space station. I wonder where we are flying to...

Badniks: UFO Lab Assistant Pawns: They fly around in their small ships, trying to abduct you. It is usually an insta-kill unless you have invincibility.
*Crash and Sonic are on the moon floating about the Earth. The Death Head looms in the background, floating silently in an eerie unison.*
Sonic: âSo, I heard from Shads and Ames that you wanted to race me, huh?â
Crash nods. âYeah!â
Sonic: âWell, Iâm not one to say not to a competition.â *He smiles in return.* âNow⊠what can we use for a racewayâŠâ *He looks at their surroundings and finds the moon here has a futuristic city on it (Like Future Frenzy and Gone Tomorrow) .* âHey, why do you guys have a city on your moon?â
Crash looks. âI⊠That shouldnât exist. Cortex did succeed in making a city for him in the future but this one seems to have been made nowâŠâ
Sonic shrugs. âAll I can think of is that Eggman probably helped him make it.â *And it shows, since there are neon signs everywhere that have stuff like âNeo Cortexâ and âEggmanâ.* âHeh, I bet they wonât mind if we mess around here?â
Crash: âWell, I donât care. And I know you donât care, soâŠâ
Sonic: âTrue that. Ready to race?â
Crash: âHold onâŠâ *He uses the Emeralds to make them Super.* âIf only for a fair race.â
Sonic: âAnd if anything gets destroyed, aw, well.â *He smirks and both of them get ready...*
Itâs a very fast paced race through Cortexâs and Eggmanâs city on the moon. Hovering cars are flying all over the streets but they shouldnât have been driving today as they are the ones to go flying if you bump or crash into them. The big danger here are the UFO Lab Assistant Pawns that fly about to attempt to abduct you, which, in this super form, is just more of an annoying slow down. Keep on the lookout for transport tubes that can pinball you ahead a few streets. And Sonic is not holding back on his speed so you do not want to make too many mistakes. Remember there is a very shiny 2nd gem on the line if you can beat Sonic.
(If Crash wins:) Crash is ecstatic. âYIPPEE!! I did it! I beat the fastest thing alive!â
Sonic smiles: âIndeed you did, Crash. A wonderful job.â
(If Sonic wins:) Sonic: âYou did well, Crash, but you see why I am called the fastest thing alive.â
Crash is still smiling: âI know, but it was fun to race you all the same.â
(In either case:) Sonic: âNow, come on, letâs blow this popsicle stand!â
Achievement Unlocked: Going Super Sonic

Badniks: Space Lab Assistant Pawns: They carry ray guns and will fire them with good precision unless you keep moving. Falco: They sure do love jetting around and dropping Pawns and bombs. E-2000: Eggmanâs humanoid androids that love lasers and shields. If you get close, they might fire it off at you. If you attack them first, they will use their shield to block attacks until it lowers it again. Itâs best to attack it as it fires its laser. Egg Cannon: Avoid those targeting reticles or get shelled.
Crash and Cream find themselves warped high up on the cityâs skyline traversing across the rooftops as badniks keep up a relenting attack from the roofs and on the flying ships (With the Eggman and âNâ insignia on them) that are passing around. Cannons also send shells their way in an attempt to destroy the duo. Keep on moving to avoid them and soon you will start crossing the ships and destroying the cannons that fired at you. It appears we are taking the ships somewhere, but whereâŠ
I bet if you messed around on the ships, i bet you might find a gem in one of them...

Badniks: E-2000R: An upgraded version of the E-2000 that has more health. Oct: Now comes in space octopus flavor. :P Mirror: What bounces off it gets shot back to you. :P
Crash and Shadow keep fighting their way across the various âairâships, taking down all the weaponry along the way. Soon afterwards, they take us back into the Death Head and into the flipping gravity sections of the spaceship. Try to keep a steady balance of speed and grace to avoid the most dangerous badniks and traps that can be faced. And spike balls. Lots of spike balls. I think they like them too much. Either way, our end is just outside the doors that lead into the coreâŠ
Oh!, but near the beginning, if you have found all of the colored gems, you can take a secret path through dangerous space of lasers and wildly swinging platforms and past traps to find a second gem and a secret way out of here.
Achievement Unlocked: Flipping and Flopping
ââ
*Crash and Shadow end up warped with Dr. Cortex and Uka-Uka in the center of the Space Terrarium where there was a big walkway with a small circular hole in the center.*
Cortex sounds tired as he said: âIâm sorry, I bet you expecting me to be angry and full of rage; incensed beyond belief. Meh, Iâm not.â
Uka-Uka: âAND IN FACT, WEâRE FURIOUS-â *He is confused.* âCortex? What the hell is wrong with you? Youâre not supposed to say that!â
Crash and Shadow stand there in confusion as they argue.
Cortex: âWhatâs the point? Theyâre just going to defeat us. Iâm on a freaking hoverboard and theyâre probably going to throw me in that gated hole.â
Uka-Uka: âWHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?!â
*Cortex seems distant, as though he knows something, but wonât say.*
Uka-Uka: âWhatever⊠-BUT IT SEEMS YOU OVERLOOKED ONE SMALL DETAIL YOU BANDICOOT AND HEDGEHOG!! NOW THAT YOU HAVE GATHERED ALL THE CRYSTALS, ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS TAKE THEM FROM YOU!!!â
Aku-Aku: âNot if we stop you, brother!â *Aku-Aku and Uka-Uka start fighting each other as we fight CortexâŠ*
Boss: Cortex
Aku-Aku and Uka-Uka start attacking each other with a huge laser that spreads across the entire arena. Youâll have to jump over it to avoid it. Cortex, meanwhile, is flying around the arena with a barrier and will be shooting shots from his ray-gun at you that must be avoided or youâll get burned. Soon afterwards, he will throw mines that must be avoided in radius as well. Cortex will then drop his barrier so you can attack him and get him off his hoverboard. You must then attack him and then knock him into the center grate that has broken off and heâll fall in for damage. Uka-Uka will then save him and return him to his hoverboard. The process will repeat 2 more, but the masks will then spin around the room in a vortex, and then attack and cause an explosion for the last bit.
Achievement Unlocked: Itâs Raining Science!
-----
Cortex screams âNOOOOOOOOO!!!!!â as he falls down the hole and the hoverboard gets destroyed.
Uka-Uka: âNo! My meal ticket!â *He chases after Cortex through the hole and is shown that they are falling in space and towards the Earth. Uka-Uka catches up with Cortex.* âGot you! NowâŠâ *He tries to teleport away, but it fails. Eggman had made sure along with shutting off the transport system, he also connected Uka-Uka to it and blocked him from transporting too.* âWhat?! NO! AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!â
*Both he and Cortex fall to the Earth in a shimmer.*
Aku-Aku: âHmmm⊠why did my brother not disappear away with Cortex?â *He shows that he can still teleport, suggesting he is unaffected.*
*Sonic and other help return the grate back to covering the hole. Before anyone can say anything, the monitors around them cut off what they were showing and now display Eggman or his insignia.*
Eggman: âOh, just a little something I did to the dumbass mask. I made it impossible for him to teleport away so they will crash into the Earth.â
Sonic: âThat seems⊠evil? Why did you not do the same to Aku-Aku?â
Eggman: âBecause he isnât my target⊠besides, itâs essentially an offering to send you guys home.â
Sonic decides to joke: âYou hear that guys? We get to go home!â
Eggman: âAh, not so fast.â
Sonic: âFigures.â
Eggman: âDonât leave so soon, you still need to find all of the gems too. I was told by that mask that having all of them works just the same as the crystals. So, why donât you be good deliveryhogs and find them for me.â *He cuts his feed.*
Crash sighs: âWe have to find those gems before he can get his hands on them!â
Sonic: âGood, and then we can finally give Eggman a piece of our minds.â
*The heroes find a platform that takes them to a new terrariumâŠ*
Next Time: Itâs B O N U S time in the Bonus Terrarium.

Kaârta Tor
Chapter 3
In another time and place, a much more peaceful planet enjoyed a brief moment of respite between the forces of good and evil. Birds chirped and flowers were in bloom in the spring breeze. On the plains beyond the nearby city, a blue wind blazed across the land. It was the hero of this planet, a beacon of hope during its darkest hour. Sonic the Hedgehog ran with the breeze, feeling the wind on his face as he zoomed across the Kingdom of Acorn, a place where the free people of this world lived in harmony. It came under attack many times by the villainous robotic forces of a roboticist that goes by the name of Dr. Ivo Robotnik.
Sonic came to a stop from his immense speed before allowing himself to fall backwards onto the grass, looking up at the blue sky and sparse white clouds. He could lay here forever, or at least until he got bored and started running again. For now, he was just enjoying the peace and quiet. It felt like a few hours before he heard the crunching of the grass nearby. The blue hedgehog turned his head to see the chipmunk that had showed up.    She certainly didnât look regal, but she was the princess of the kingdom, Sally Acorn. She was tapping her foot, but her face held a smile. âWell, if it isnât Lazy the Hedgehog.â She said teasingly to the resting hedgehog. He smiled and hopped onto his feet. âHey, what about all those times I beat up robots for you? Donât those count?â      âIt doesnât outweigh the number of times I couldâve used your help surveying the area around New Mobotropolis. After all the times weâve been attacked, we have to make sure that there arenât any surprises in store for us in the near future.â She was referring to the capital of the kingdom that her brother ruled. The city was the first line of defense against Robotnik alongside Sonic the Hedgehog. The people of the kingdom, mutated animals called mobians, were made up of a diverse group of creatures that came together under the rule of the Acorn monarchy, who led them into times of prosperity over the course of generations.       Sonic chuckled and nudged Sallyâs shoulder. Theyâd all come a long way since they were younger, fighting what seemed to be a hopeless fight against Robotnikâs Empire. Who would have thought that a speed demon and a princess wouldâve grown as close as they did, and that their little group would become celebrities and heroes in their own right for the world at large. Now, thanks to their actions, the world was rebuilding. Sure, the threats werenât gone, but they were at a much better point in their lives now.      Sally seemed to get an idea of where Sonicâs train of thought had gone. âItâs pretty amazing, isnât it? The workâs never done, but you canât stop the Freedom Fighters that easily.â She assured Sonic, maybe more for herself. âEvil Scientists, Vicious Wizards, Ancient Masterminds, Crazy Mirror Alternates. Itâs hard to believe that this has been our life. It sounds like it comes straight out of a TV show.â      âWell it wouldnât be an adventure if it was mundane, Sal.â Sonic responded. They both nodded in agreement as they continued towards the city itself. The high wall gave way to a sprawling city with simple buildings towards the outside and grew more diverse and complex towards the center, where Castle Acorn stood proud and tall over the subjects, acting as the heart of New Mobotropolis.      âI need to talk to Elias about the places the Royal Guard has already checked out, and you can pick up where they left off.â Sally explained, heading to the castle by herself, leaving Sonic to his devices. He shrugged and went to his Uncleâs restaurant, where he could grab a snack while he waited. He wouldnât have to wait for long as his friend, a two-tailed fox named Tails, found him in the establishment.       âHi Sonic. Howâs it going?â He asked his blue friend. Sonic scarfed down the remainder of his chili dog in order to answer. âItâs been chill. Not much going on around here. Sally wants me to check out some places around the country for signs of Eggman, but Iâll be done with that in a flash. You wanna race when I get back?â Sonic challenged. Tails couldnât help the smile that grew on his face. âYou bet! Iâll beat you this time, Sonic!â       Sonic ruffled the kidâs fur playfully. The two had become close brothers, going on adventures together all the time. There was not a way in the world you could possibly separate the two. They were a package deal, and they were among the best of the best.      Almost as if on cue, Tailsâ communicator rang. It was the princess. She probably expected the two to be together. âTails, if Sonic is there, tell him that there was something suspicious going on in the western sector. The Royal Guard said they saw some weird robots, but there were none on the sensors. Nicole is doing a scan for whatever might be out there, just in case its trying to cloak itself, but youâre the fastest thing alive. If anyone can find it and stop it, itâs you.â      Sonic couldnât help but smile. He loved action, and chances like this were growing rarer and rarer. He hopped off of his stool, Tails following his lead. âIâm on it, Sally. Iâll meet you there! Just try to keep up!â He and his friend hurried back out to the outskirts of the city. He moved swiftly across the rolling fields and the trees. There wasnât even a sign of footprints. They couldâve been buzzbombers, but theyâre loud. They wouldâve heard them if it was those badniks. Something was out of place here. He settled beneath a tree next to Tails and started tapping his foot as his eyes scanned around, waiting for Sally to arrive.     The chipmunk wouldnât keep them waiting for too long, as she arrived with Amy, another of their friends and fellow Freedom Fighter in tow. They all seemed to be perplexed by the lack of any hostile presence. âItâs not like the Royal Guard to jump at shadows. If they saw something, itâs still nearby.â Sally mused. Amy took a peek at the console that Sally had, which also housed the AI Nicole. It seemed like the Ai was processing information from the surroundings.      Sonic huffed. âLook, thereâs nothing here. Iâve checked. The guards mustâve been daydreaming or something.â He concluded. The three looked at him with a stern look. â....What?â Sonic responded to the gesture. Amy saw something of note. âHey, Nicole? What was that spike you just showed on the screen.â The AI moved back to it and revealed a holographic form of a lynx. âHmm, I saw it earlier but I dismissed it as an error in the reading. I can take a closer look at it though, if you think itâs not just something random.â     âThat would help. Thankâs Amy. Maybe thatâll be our key to solving whatâs going on here.â Sally spoke up. âTails, what about you? Did you notice anything strange since you got here?â In response, he seemed to hum as he looked over his own console screen. While Sonic was running around, heâd been searching for traces of power sources. Anything from electrical discharge, diesel, or otherwise.     Then, both Tails and Nicole piped up. âChaos Control.â They spoke at the same time. The lynx spoke first. âYou were right. The outlier actually had a frequency that we have on record. It was Chaos Control, similar to what Shadowâs used. It caused a slight space-time blip. The guards probably saw a vision of badniks. Though the source of the phenomenon seems to elude my sensors.â     Tails continued. âItâs possible that it came from the future. Itâs not as strong as the Time Stones, but Chaos Emeralds HAVE shown some amount of temporal flux capabilities. Maybe someone was trying to time travel.â He elaborated on the possibilities that surrounded the mysterious circumstances. The group of five looked to each other with concern.     âSo, do you think thereâs going to be an invasion anytime soon? From the future or just plain from Eggman?â Sonic asked.      âItâs entirely possible. Chaos Energy is unpredictable, and just with what weâve heard and found here, itâs not exactly enough for us to plan for. The best we can do is keep an eye out for any more phenomenons.â Tails answered. Sally and Amy both nodded. They were about to return when a burst of light struck, giving the five a vision of a far off place; A Temple, where two factions were fighting. The vision disappeared as soon as it came, barely giving them any insight on what they saw.      Nicole was the first to say something. âThat was another blip. It...It might be Chaos Control...but...Iâm not so sure anymore.â     âYouâre right. Iâve never seen Chaos Control do that. Usually it just teleports, transports, or freezes time. Unless Shadowâs done something like that, I have a hard time believing this was just plain Chaos Control.â Sonic said sourly. Things were getting more confusing by the second...

Evil Overlords Have Feelings Too - Part 4
by Jenifer Irwin Part 4 "No... no... can't be, I... ah... rkk..." Something shattered. Perhaps a glass of Dr Pepper or something was knocked off the end table by a thrashing arm. Arashi was worried... How in the world could Ivo be having a nightmare? "Noooooo..." A low sob was heard. That did it. Arashi hacked into the door's security system and quickly got into his room, moving over to the bed and sitting down on the side of it, shaking his shoulder. Ivo Robotnik sat up with a yelp of surprise, sweating and gasping for breath. "What!? Is someone attacking the base?! What's going--"
"No, you just had a nightmare or something... what were you dreaming?" Arashi asked, concerned. Trying to catch his breath, the doctor thought for a moment, starting to talk. "I dreamed... I dreamed I... was blue, spiky, and had an incredible craving for chili dogs! I dreamed I was Sonic! Aauuuughhh! ...of course, a chili dog does sound pretty good right about now." Dr. Robotnik dragged himself out of the bed and headed for the door, leaving a very concerned Arashi sitting on the bed. "But wouldn't you like turkey or pizza more?" she asked curiously. "No... Chili dogs, with just the right amount of spice in the chili... ohh, yeah," he replied, walking out of the door and turning down the hall towards the kitchen. He seemed to have unusual bounce and quickness to his step. Okay, so maybe it just reminded him of them and there's nothing to worry about, Arashi thought to herself, standing up to follow him. She still did worry, though. She just had a feeling that this wasn't good. In the kitchen, everything seemed to go fairly normal. Robotnik made about 30 chili dogs and then sat down at the table with them, grabbing a can of Pepsi from the refrigerator. He and Arashi started to dig in, with him eating so quickly she feared she'd have to fight him for them, and started snickering as she raced along with him. Whoawhoawhoawhoa back up back up backupbackup, she thought to herself on her fifth chili dog, looking at the can of Pepsi that Robotnik had. "You didn't get a Dr Pepper?" "Nah, Pepsi sounded better. And it is!" Arashi fell out of her chair and hit the floor with a sound *THUNK*, out cold. ** "Ivo, you were eating SONIC food! Sonic drinks Pepsi! You drink Dr Pepper! What's up with you?" Arashi asked worriedly, moving backwards as she stayed ahead of him, practically pouncing on him with questions as he walked quickly down the hall. "Are you feeling alright!? Has anything strange happened lately? Why are you walking so fast!?" "I'm just in a hurry, that's all," Robotnik replied, seeming confused. "And so what if I ate a Sonic meal? Can't be any worse than eating Sonic himself, right? Heh heh. I've felt so much better ever since I turned Sonic, Takar and Tails all into pills and ate them..." ...was that just her, or did Arashi detect a fleeting instant of a British accent there... Oh, god. Pulling on her hair, she froze in a shocked stance as she watched Ivo continue down the hallway. It had been a month since Robotnik's victory over the alien Ykrian leader, Takar, and the two usual adversaries, who had teamed up with the alien to help try to destroy him. Arashi had been killed in an explosion Super Takar caused, but she was later brought back to life by Robotnik, who went into his Ultra form out of pure rage. They raced to Takar's earth-based lab, and while Takar actually got there first, he had a bit of a... braking problem, and Robotnik peeled him off of a tree two miles away from the base a while later. In an effort to get rid of his enemies once and for all, Robotnik had used a pill-making machine he created to turn all three of them into pills, then gulped them down. It looked, however, like that had backfired, and he was absorbing some of their qualities... Oh, man, oh man, no no no no, Arashi thought to herself, trying to figure out a way to stop this. ** Four confused chao watched as Robotnik practically ran from place to place, fixing any broken things in their chamber, quickly tossing them food. He didn't stop to pet them but for a few seconds each before he hurried out. Turning the corner, he ran right into Arashi, tripping and falling. Both went to the floor, Arashi emitting a strained screech as he fell right on her, practically flattening her. "...ow," was all she managed to choke out as Robotnik said simply, "Oops. So that's why my teachers always yelled at me for running in the hallway..." Robotnik stood up, dusting himself off, and extended a hand to help Arashi back to her feet. She stumbled a couple of steps, gasping for air. After all, having a 500-pound man fall flat on his face--on you--isn't going to leave you totally unscathed. After waiting for Arashi to recover (tapping his foot during the time), Robotnik hurried towards his lab. Arashi had to push herself to keep up, thinking to herself, Okay, this is already getting out of hand. I've got to find some way to stop this before it gets any worse... Ivo passed by a mirror on his way to the lab, then stopped, turned, and looked in the mirror again. He put a fist on his hip and scratched his head, saying, "Ugh... I can't stand fat people. I need to lose weight." Arashi executed an anime-style freak-out move, sweat flying from her head, and fainted. As Robotnik dragged the unconscious woman into his lab, he sighed slightly and headed for the soda machine on the wall. He pulled out a Mountain Dew and walked back over to Arashi, kneeling down and shaking her shoulder. When she finally woke up, she grabbed the front of his coat and shook him, saying, "You've got to pull yourself together! You're losing it!" "Am not," he protested. "Yes you are! Tell me, doctor, what would you rather do right now... Take over the world, or run through Green Hill?" When Robotnik took a moment to think about that, Arashi knew all was lost, and leaned her forehead on his shoulder with a sigh. "You're not the Ivo I used to know." "How so?" "You keep acting like Sonic, and you just talked like Takar a few minutes ago." Robotnik grabbed Arashi's arms, almost tightly enough to hurt, and growled, "I am not acting like Sonic." She looked up at him, fearfulness of him entering her eyes for the first time. The chills he got from inducing fear knocked him back into his own semblance of sanity and he blinked as he realized what he had done. "Oh, Arashi, I--" he started apologetically, but she pulled away from him and stood up, saying, "I think... I need to go." She gave him a confused, worried look, then hurried from the room when he reached towards her, saying, "Wait, Arashi..." ** Arashi walked along the sandy shores of the underground base, hands in her pockets, shoulders slightly hunched forward. She glanced up at the base, which was rebuilt after being destroyed by Takar, and looked even better now than it did before. But there was something different about it, now. Ivo had never scared her so much, even the first time she met him, when he was waving a laser gun in her face. At that time, she knew the normal Robotnik doesn't shoot people without a decent reason, especially those who might have some useful information. It wasn't like her to walk out so quickly, but she was afraid. She knew he was unstable. Somehow, his enemies lived on within him. It seemed impossible for that to be true, because he had turned them into pills and eaten them--how could it have actually affected his personality and his mind? Now two good and two evil personalities were battling it out in his head for control over him. So far, Sonic and Takar had revealed themselves--Tails was sure to show up soon, and the situation was likely to get worse very quickly. Could she risk staying with him in this state? He had an IQ of 600, and the combined powers of four incredibly powerful people. He was also prone to mood swings and sudden changes in personality--now that she thought of it, Arashi had noticed traces of this only a few days after Ivo had eaten the pills. The traits were only really surfacing with such obviousness just recently, though. This made him extremely dangerous. She knew he didn't mean to scare her, didn't mean to grab her and shake her by the shoulders, but people do a lot of things they don't mean to do when something they can't control has a hold of them. Arashi sighed and sat down on a boulder, staring at her shoes as she wondered what to do. ** Inside the base, Robotnik sat at one of his desks, holding his head in his hands. His thoughts were fuzzy and whirling madly in his mind as he tried to compose himself. He was angry one second, but didn't care the next. One moment he wanted a Dr Pepper, the next he wanted a Mountain Dew. Did I hurt her? Eh, she'll be okay... I hate myself, what have I done? I wonder if there's any chicken left in the fridge. I think everybody should be green. What am I doing sitting around when I could be running? I should research the chaos emeralds some more. Diet Pepsi sucks. What could I add to the Steel Snake to make it better? Arashi's mad, I should go apologize. I bet giant tarantulas with lots of venom could be useful in taking over the world. Where's my pencil? In the back of his mind, Robotnik was struggling to obliterate the random thoughts and regain control over himself, but it was useless. The harder he tried, the more prevalent they became. He sat for almost 10 minutes, motionless, until he finally screamed and slammed his head into the desk as hard as he could. Surprisingly, when he sat up, his mind was absolutely clear. "That bloody hurt," he muttered to himself in a perfect British accent, rubbing his head. Once he recovered from the pain, he glanced around and stood up, then headed over to the Steel Snake to work on it. Grinning silently, the doctor added many an interesting gadget to his prized vehicle, including a built-in warp device, a CD player and a resurrection device in case he ever had need to bring someone back from the dead. While he was putting the finishing touches on it, he felt something behind him. Arashi jumped back, putting her hands behind her back as Ivo whirled around suddenly, raising an eyebrow slightly. "Ah, hello," he said, smiling oddly... just like Takar did. "Terribly sorry to have frightened you back there, I suppose I just lost it. Happens to everyone," he said, chuckling. "Have you got something behind your back?" he asked in an amused tone. "Um... no, I just... um... heh," Arashi stammered nervously. She looked up at him hesitantly, then stepped forward, putting her arms around him. "I know you didn't mean to scare me, Ivo. And I'm sorry for walking out." She smiled slightly, carefully inching her hands up his back. "Oh, completely understandable. I'm sure most would do the same in your posit--ERK!" Robotnik wavered, stunned, after Arashi grabbed his head and slammed it into the side of the Steel Snake as hard as she could. *CLANG* "...ow," the doctor managed to say after he recovered, sounding just like his normal self. "What did you do that for?" "No reason, dear," Arashi said, grinning, and her tactic worked perfectly as planned--instead of inquiring further about having his skull smashed against a large piece of metal, Robotnik went into slight shock at being called 'dear,' and glanced around nervously. He was so cute when he was afraid of his own feelings! "Well, um... yeah... ah... I'm just gonna go back to work on the Snake here, I'd like to put in a DVD player..." Arashi turned and walked over to the soda machine, pulling out a Mountain Dew. So, slamming him in the head changes his personalities... this could get interesting. But I still have to find a way to extract those personalities from him. I gotta find out exactly what does what with him. There had been no sound coming from Robotnik at all for the past moment as Arashi enjoyed her drink, and she turned suddenly when she heard metal plates being ripped apart and tossed to the floor. "Ivo... what are you doing?" He appeared to be dismantling the entire ship! "I've got an idea," he replied with a grin as he pulled the Snake's head off and tossed it to the floor, prying it open and jamming his broken screwdriver into it, popping out a small computer chip. He pocketed the chip, then ripped the Snake the rest of the way apart, leaving only the seating pod. Using parts from the dismantled snake, the doctor constructed a jet system for the pod, still keeping it small, only about the size of his infamous escape pod (with seats for two, anyway). He flipped up the lid and sat down in the pod, placing the chip in an extremely armored compartment in the floor of the vehicle, then jumped back out and installed several robotic arms into the ship that had small building tools on the end of them. Finished with that, he tore apart a nearby computer. Soon, he had another small teleportation device constructed--this one even smaller than the first one he made, and with a tiny satellite on the top. Repeating the process on another computer, he made a second device. Arashi leaned against the wall, watching curiously, wondering what he was doing. After completing the second teleportation device, Ivo walked over towards her and asked, "Can I have your backpack?" Arashi pulled off the backpack and handed it to him, watching as he opened it and dropped the device into it, then handed it back. "Thanks." Ivo walked back over to the fairly bare-looking craft, which rose up in the air and tilted its lower side towards him as he approached it. He opened up a panel and snapped the teleportation device into a compartment, then closed the panel and dusted his hands off, heading over to where Arashi was standing. "What was that all about?" the bewildered programmer asked. Robotnik grinned and held up a hand, signaling her to wait just a little longer, then turned towards the craft and concentrated. "Check THIS out," he said, and the robotic arms with tools suddenly began drilling and attaching parts that appeared out of thin air. Within seconds, a giant arachnid-like robot stood there, flexing its legs menacingly. Ivo concentrated some more and the robot changed itself into a Steel Snake again, then into a huge likeness of himself, then into a huge likeness of Sonic, then into a tank, then into a fighter jet... Arashi, overwhelmed by the sheer coolness of this, fainted. Just as consciousness was leaving her, she could feel someone catching her, preventing her from hitting the floor. ** When she awoke, Arashi found herself strapped into her usual seat in the ship. Ivo was sitting in his seat, playing Minesweeper on the on-board computer. He looked over at her, grinning slightly as he completed another 5-second game. "So, I take it you like the new design." "How does it work!?" Arashi asked, bewildered. "The ship accepts commands from the chip in my head, then puts them into the on-board teleporter. The teleporter sends signals to the one in your backpack, which then warps whatever parts are needed out of your backpack and to the proper area on the ship according to the blueprints that the onboard computer instantaneously draws up and gives it. Then I can quickly use the ship's tools to fasten the new parts on, and voila... The Shapechanger 6000. Any parts that are no longer needed are sent back to your backpack by the onboard teleporter." "Genius..." "What else did you expect?" Ivo asked, grinning. "How about a test ride?" Soon, the craft rose up out of the entrance shaft to the giant cave and turned itself into something that resembled an SR-71 jet, but could go much faster and higher. Banking right, it swung upwards into the sky, heading towards the orange sunset as it gained speed. A sonic boom ripped through the air of the nearby city as the jet quickly tore through the sound barrier, a sharp, black silhouette rising up higher and higher in the sky. People knew that not just anyone had a private jet, especially not one that looked completely customized. Robotnik had to be the one driving that thing. The jet climbed quickly, eventually rising to the point where the sky was black above and blue below. Ivo shut off the engines and the vehicle coasted effortlessly, now in orbit. He glanced over at Arashi with a slight grin. "Beautiful, isn't it?" the mad scientist asked, gesturing to the huge, blue-and-white sphere under them. "Yeah," the programmer said wistfully. "I would have never thought that before you came alo--... um... before... like, six months ago." "Really?" Arashi asked, smiling slightly at him. "...Yeah," Ivo said after a moment of thought. He looked over at her, gazing deeply into her eyes. That's funny... he never noticed how odd, yet captivating, of a color they were. Grey, with a trace of a blue tint to it. "Your eyes are so--" he said before he could catch himself. She smiled dreamily up at him with a look that sent... something... through him. He didn't know what it was or where it came from, but it felt better than anything he'd ever felt from inducing fear and panic in other people. He lost control over his own feelings and stared back as he slowly leaned towards her. She tilted her head and closed her eyes, waiting in anticipation, and he closed his own eyes... Just as their lips met, a satellite smashed into the ship, sending it spinning wildly out of control and burning through the atmosphere towards the ground. Robotnik screamed, but there was no hint of fear at all in the scream--simply pure frustration and anger at the really bad timing of that stupid satellite. Like the fastest bird in the world, the ship dove straight down at mind-boggling speed. Robotnik concentrated on getting it to flare the jets and pull up, and while he did get it pulled straight safely, they had been going so fast that they traveled quite a ways downward in just a few seconds. He muttered something nasty about satellites and stared out of his side of the ship as it flew gracefully through the air. Arashi could tell he was ticked. The one time he worked up the guts to really show his true feelings for her, something like that had to happen. She was pretty ticked too, but put that anger in the back of her mind so she could concentrate on more important things--like trying to get him to lose control over his emotions again. It was possible, now she knew. She never thought she would see the day that Ivo would move to kiss her, not the other way around. Ivo drummed his fingers on the arm of his seat and muttered, "I'm hungry," banking the jet to the right towards a city. After it came out of its turn, the craft's jet parts evaporated into thin air and it was left as the normal escape-pod vehicle. It floated down to a little-used street and turned into a strange-looking car, then drove through the city to the nearest restaurant. As he pulled up to the speaker, the cashier asked for his order. "Yes, I'm Dr. Ivo Robotnik, and as long as you cooperate and give me what I want for free, there will be no trouble. Now then, I'd like 20 half-pound hamburgers, 20 orders of fries and two chocolate milkshakes. To go." Without waiting for a response, he drove up to the window. The cashier was rolling her eyes as the odd-looking car pulled up, but she froze when she looked out and saw who was driving it. She thought she was seeing things, then looked up at the poster on the wall. It was one of those posters that directed employees to remain calm, follow directions and such in case of a robbery, but added to the list of situations and things to do was a picture of Robotnik and a notice in bright red: "ALWAYS GIVE THIS MAN FREE FOOD!" Ivo looked up at the cashier expectantly, and she stared back in fear for a moment before turning and yelling, "HURRY UP! IT'S DR. IVO ROBOTNIK!" to the rest of the employees. Ivo and Arashi could hear frenzied screams and see pieces of food flying around, and the restaurant got very hot inside as the cooking was turned up full throttle. Fortunately, this gave Ivo those familiar chills from inducing fear, and his mood was already improving. He waited patiently, but didn't have to for long, since the food was piled into his arms within a minute, every bit of it. He smiled pleasantly at the frightened cashier and said, "Thank you," then drove off. Well, at least he was polite if you cooperated and demonstrated an adequate amount of fear in the process. As Ivo drove thoughtfully along the city streets, he propped the side of his face on his fist, leaning his elbow against the armrest. He looked a little unhappy, but not overly so. His expression told that he knew what happened with the satellite wasn't that big of a deal. Before he knew it, he was sitting at a turn onto a highway. Arashi watched as he sat up, brow furrowing slightly... then a huge, evil grin cracked on his face. Concentration started to show in that look, and the Shapechanger made a few modifications to itself... then roared with extremely powerful jets as they were briefly flared. The car sat there, silent, for a few more seconds, and then Ivo's grin widened as it tore out of the curve, gaining speed at an incredible rate as it headed down the highway, tires screaming and smoking. People who saw and heard this got the heck out of the way. "Music?" Ivo asked, pressing a few buttons on the CD player, and appropriately, started to play some hard rock to go along with the journey. Arashi watched in awe as the scenery flew past with other cars and frightened expressions. Guys like fast cars, and Ivo was no exception. He had the Shapechanger build itself a steering wheel just so he could use that for the full effect, and if it looked like he would be reaching top speed soon, he just built more jets on. The car screamed down the highway at well over 3000 miles an hour for a couple of minutes, then Ivo slowed down to about 300 miles an hour and turned onto a winding country road. He steered the car effortlessly, sending it through turns that couldn't possibly be navigated by normal cars going this fast. Arashi picked up one of the cartons of french fries and started to eat, watching the scenery blur past. There were houses dotting the side of the road, but at random and sometimes sparse intervals. They were just little country houses, nothing special. People sitting out on their porches were amazed to see the black car go blazing past their homes, and a couple of them started to call tabloid newspapers, claiming they'd seen an alien-made car. In a way, it was true, considering Robotnik was 1/4 Takar. After a few minutes of driving, the Shapechanger turned back into a normal pod and zipped into a lonely forest. Soon, Ivo and Arashi were alone in the middle of nowhere. He rode around for a couple minutes, looking for a nice place to stop, and found a huge log sitting by a river. The pod was parked by a nearby tree, and the two sat down on the log to eat the food they'd robbed from the restaurant. "This river is nice. But you know, it'd be much better if there was a nice big oil spill nearby about 3 days ago," Ivo commented. "There's nothing like a smoothly flowing river of oil and dead fish to soothe the senses." He was dead serious, which made Arashi crack up laughing. "What?" Ivo asked, confused. "Nothing, nothing," Arashi replied, grinning up at him. "I don't understand why people want to conserve nature so much... I mean, sure, nature is nice, but it's much nicer when it gleams with metal or a sheen of oil, you know what I'm saying? It's just..." He sighed, unable to really describe his extreme love for machinery to the fullest. He looked down at Arashi, watching the light reflecting from the water dance in her eyes. "You know, Arashi, I..." He stumbled on his words, already starting to feel awkward again. She smiled up at him, putting her arms around him and leaning her head on his shoulder. Without another word, he put his arm around her and sighed blissfully, staring at the river. "Well, well, well, isn't this just sickeningly romantic," a hauntingly familiar voice with that unmistakable British accent said from behind them. Both froze, but Ivo started to quickly concentrate to send the Shapechanger into action. Then there was a brilliant flash of light and a loud *POP* followed by electrical crackling, and he fell to the ground in agony, clutching his head and groaning in pain. Behind them, Takar took a strange device away from the Shapechanger, which fell to the ground utterly silent and lifeless. Arashi grabbed Ivo and asked in extreme worry, "What's wrong!? Are you alright!? Ivo!" "Shapechanger... computer chips... my head... Arashi, it hurts, it hurts," he groaned, almost to the point of sobbing, as he fell over on his side, effectively incapacitated. A tractor beam grabbed Ivo and lifted him into the air, holding him there, and Takar placed the beam's projector on a nearby rock. Then he grabbed Arashi and easily overpowered her attempts to get away, quickly tying her up with a space-age 'rope' of sorts that was super strong. She kicked and screamed for him to stop, but he coldly went about tying her up the rest of the way so she wouldn't flail so much anymore, then knocked her unconscious and tossed her unceremoniously into the alien pod that floated out of the trees on his mental command. He moved over to Ivo, knocking him out swiftly, then taking anything out of his pockets that he could possibly use to get out of his current situation, tossing a few wrenches and other tools to the ground. After waiting a few minutes, Ivo woke up and Takar continued his plot. "One of two things is going to happen now, Ivo," Takar said as he stood in front of the helpless doctor. "You'll crack and give up because you don't have Arashi, or not having her will cause you to become angry and fight me harder. I do hope it's the second one." "Why... how did you... but I ate you..." Ivo managed to wheeze, still in great pain, but some of it was wearing off. "Come now, Ivo, you don't think I would be stupid enough to allow myself to be killed forever, do you? Perhaps this is a good time to stress you out more and let you in on the truth of the matter..." "Wha...?" "Ivo..." Takar said, pausing dramatically... "I am your father." Ivo forgot about his headache altogether and stared at Takar, blinking in disbelief. "Then why aren't I the heir to the bloody Ykrian throne!?" he asked, growling and thrashing where the beam held him in the air. Takar started to laugh. "Ah, there's hope for you after all, still thinking about power! You see, Ivo... You are a genetically engineered life form that I created to give myself a challenge in life. I am immortal, and I have been alive for thousands of years. Many times I've died, but I came back, with the help of my machinery and genetic engineering skills. Whenever I die, a device on my home planet takes the DNA samples I've given it of myself and creates a new version of me! I have a chip in my head too, and it's always sending records of what I experience back to that machine so that I retain everything that has happened, even through death. I have taken on many forms in the past, even had several clones of myself roaming the planet and doing evil at times. I'm more evil than you could ever hope to be, Ivo, but you're the most evil thing besides myself that I've managed to create..." Takar glared at the doctor, as if scolding him. "And I am not going to let that change." "But it hasn't! What are you talking about?!" Ivo protested, flailing again. "Oh, yes it has. There are things even I can't control, and one of those things is love. Love can change a person. It can turn the most evil and nasty of people into a goody two-shoes if they're not careful, and you are not being careful, I've seen it. I engineered you to be an ugly old bird so the chances of someone being attracted to you would be slim, but it seems Arashi here was one in a trillion. I tried to engineer the capacity for love out of your body, but there's only so much one can do with the physical end of that. The rest of it is out of my hands... unless I can keep your beloved away from you, and make you bitter. That may just even improve matters! I couldn't stand to lose the only person who has ever given me a challenge in my lifetime, you know." "Dad was nothing like this! You couldn't possibly be him!" "That's correct, because 'dad' was just a crafted memory. Do you remember Shadow the Hedgehog? Do you remember, when you found the files on Project Shadow-2, how some of his memories were crafted? You are exactly the same way, Ivo. I built you just like I built him, with a base of my own DNA, and then I added different things for different qualities... Except I dropped one of my mustache hairs in the Life Box to complete you, and a hedgehog quill in for him." Takar folded his arms over his chest, smiling smugly. "And then when they executed me for doing such dangerous work, I just brought myself back to life and came back to the planet after enhancing myself a bit." Ivo stared at Takar, not comprehending, but then he finally put all the data together. His eyes widened in disbelief as he asked in an awed voice, "Professor Gerald Robotnik...?" "The one and only." Without another word, Takar jumped into his ship and flew away, abducting Arashi and leaving Ivo hanging on the tractor beam. ** My god... he's my father, or who I previously knew as my grandfather... It makes perfect sense... Grandpa knew how to make lifeforms really well... and my memories, he's right, they are just crafted, because I remember my childhood much different than I remember eating dinner last night, it's like... it's like the childhood memories are hollow, or just missing something... and it's like they're in black and white... I'm just... I'm just a pawn for his entertainment... he's been acting like a completely different person all along, with a great cover... all of those other 'aliens,' they must be his creations, my brothers... Shadow is my brother... anything living that Takar has created is my sibling... Facts ran through Ivo's head at a dizzying rate as he just stayed there on the tractor beam, utterly helpless. He was too overwhelmed at first to realize what had just taken place, but when he finally realized that Arashi had been taken from him and there was nothing he could presently do about it, he began what would become many hours of fitful sobbing. His head still hurt. He didn't have a mind-controlled machine to bring to him. He was in the middle of a forest, not remembering which direction he came from, completely lost, and held up with a tractor beam whose battery could last for days, even weeks. Worst of all, he didn't have Arashi by his side. He just stayed hanging there, wallowing in despair beyond belief. For the first time in his life, Ivo gave up.

Entry 293
âHow did you manage to get so many suits enchanted already?â asked Alma as she came up beside me.
The others had barely started testing out what their suits could do.  Well, Emma was practically cuddling Raine now.
While wondering if I should attempt to free Raine, I replied âMore secrets.  Sorry.  Iâll be able to tell you soon.â
âShowing me will probably be easier if the spellâs as complicated as you had said.â she suggested.
âNo.  Sorry.  I never want to do that again.â I replied.
âJames, did you kill someone?â she asked, sounding shocked.
âWhat?  No!  Why would you think that?â I inquired, equally shocked by the idea.
âThere are ways to use people to power spells.  You almost got caught in one before.â she told me.
I remembered.  How could I not remember such a terrible plot being carried out at a school dance?  âI know, but I swear I didnât do such a thing.â I assured her.
âI didnât really think you would, but I donât have a good guess as to how you pulled it off.â she told me.
 âSorry.â I told her.
âIs Raine actually affected by catnip?â asked Alma.
 Nodding, I said, âSurprisingly, yes.â
She laughed, and I enjoyed the pure beauty of it.
âEmma really shouldnât have taken the risk.â she stated, still laughing.
 âRisk?â I asked.
âCatnip essentially gets cats high, so Raineâs self-control is likely weakened at the moment.  If she had a less amusing reaction, everyone could be dead.â she explained.  âStill, Iâm glad things worked out.  This was worth seeing.â
âEver try catnip on Alberich?â I asked.
 âMaybe.â she replied coyly.
âHow did it go?â I asked.
âHe may or may not be in the percentile affected.  Seeing a miniature lion being cozy with a plant might well be entertaining.â she claimed.
She ran, much faster than me with her own suit worn.  I watched as she toyed with our friends, putting them off-balance with ease.  There was a moment of fear as Raine rolled away from Emma before suddenly pouncing.
Time was frozen, and Raine had transformed.  Her needle-like fur was more plainly visible than I had ever seen it.  The distortions typically around her cat-like form were frozen as well.  The claws coming from her hands seemed far too large to ever retract and came to very sharp points.  Even frozen, I couldnât wrap my head around the teeth in her mouth.  What I was seeing didnât seem possible, for there were far too many.
âDo you trust her?â asked Aaliyah.
I nodded and said, âRaine wonât hurt Alma.  As bizarre as her eyes are, thereâs still a playfulness to them.â
Aaliyah smiled and asked âWould you like to enhance yourself?â
I knew the spells.  I could probably maintain them for a while.
âThereâs an easier way, boss-man, sir.â she told me.
 âOh?â I asked.
âThe potion that changed you placed limits on you, but they can be removed.â she stated.
 âAt what cost?â I asked.
âIf you slip, you could burn through all your energy in an instant.  On the other hand, you could keep up as long as you keep drawing more energy into yourself fast enough.  Youâll need to focus, boss-man, sir.  Really focus.â she told me.
âIf I try this and then decide itâs a bad idea, is there a way to go back to how I am?â I asked.
âOf course, but that doesnât mean Iâll do it for you.â she warned.
âWhat if I ask really nicely?â I inquired.
âYou know Iâll do anything for you, boss-man, sir.â she replied with a smile.
âBut that doesnât mean you should.â I stated glumly.  Many of her offers were far too outlandish to be considered.  I really didnât want to watch Alma speed beyond me, not anymore.  âI accept, but would you mind letting me have a bit of a test run before life continues onward?â I asked.
 She grinned and said, âSure.â
âReady when you are.â I told her.
 âFor?â she asked.
 âThe change.â I stated.
âHappened when you accepted.â she replied, looking adorably confused.
I moved, but I didnât see any difference.  âI donât think itâs working.â I admitted.
âWant an instruction book?  I pride myself on instruction manuals.â she claimed with a grin.
 âA pointer perhaps?â I suggested.
âFiiine.  Just take the fun out of everything.â she replied with a very cute pout.  âFocus on moving faster, pushing your limits.  You just tried to move before, so you moved at your typical pace.  You want to be faster, boss-man, sir.  Be faster.  Remember all of the times youâve been too slow, and donât be too slow this time.â
I couldnât forget being too slow.  I remembered Regina dying, because I was too slow to save myself⊠to save her.  I remembered when I was human and thought Alma was an unbeatable force of nature.  I remembered how she took me into the sewers to fight minotaurs.  She killed them all when I was too slow to dodge.  I remembered when she almost died, and I could do nothing to save her.  Had I been faster to stop the necromancer, he wouldnât have escaped.  Had we found him more quickly, Milaâs original systems wouldnât have been destroyed.  I remembered the first time Raine transformed and how helpless I felt.  There was no way to catch her.
I hadnât even realized how fast I was moving till I tripped.  Aaliyah caught me, running with me held over her head for a moment before slowly coming to a stop.  I felt so weak as she set me on the ground.
âAww⊠so fast, boss-man, sir.  You were really moving!â she exclaimed.  âI bet you wouldâve made a nice splatter if I didnât catch you.â
âSorry.â I told her.  I took a moment to realize she had carried me into my forest.  I strained to pull energy to me.  The strain reduced rapidly as I absorbed more and more.  I hadnât gone without energy in so long.  I had forgotten that feeling of frailty.  I absorbed more and more till I had far more than I usually allowed myself.  Then I ran.
âFocus, boss-man, sir.â she told me, easily running alongside me.  âFeel the energy draining.  You need to stay focused and draw in enough to balance out your bodyâs use.  Just like your enchantment, your body needs energy for the movement, it needs energy to counteract the friction between you and the air, it needs energy to keep you well-grounded, and it still needs energy to protect you and your clothing.  Well, Emma might argue about the clothing.â
I tried, but there simply wasnât enough once we left the forest.  I slowed down till I could keep up with my usage.
âWhere are we?â I asked, coming to a stop.
âWell, you ran for a good minute while decelerating, so roughly thirty-five point two three eight miles from home if we were to go straight there.â she replied with a grin.  âThink of the sonic boom youâd be creating without the magic to cancel it out!  The boss-man runs down a street and BOOM!â
âThat would be quite terrifying.â I admitted.
âYou seem to be getting the hang of things though.  Wanna have a quick race?â she asked.
 âHa! I canât win.â I stated.
âThat doesnât mean you canât race!â she argued.
âFine, but there isnât enough energy around here to even push myself as hard on the way back.â I replied.
âWho says we have to stay here to race?â she asked with a grin.
I found that we were no longer on the highway where we had stopped, though we still seemed to be on a road of sorts.  The sand around us looked purple, and three moons hovered in the sky.  There was an incredible amount of energy throughout the air, nearly as dense as in my forest.  Did she run me through the Intergalactic House of Awesome Sauce and onto another world?  My thoughts veered away from a memory I didnât want.
âOh!  You just thought of something neat!â she exclaimed.
âWell, weâre not on the same planet.â I stated.
âNot that.  The bit about the restaurant that you didnât want to think.â she replied.
âI had considered that the restaurant might not need to be entered by the door.  It could sorta collect people from anywhere.â I told her.
âYes!  That part!  Wouldnât that be neat!?â she exclaimed.
âIn a wayâŠâ I admitted, though I didnât want the knowledge that brought about the conclusion.  Those memories of my time spent using that room bothered me greatly.  Power such as I had there was far too dangerous, since I didnât have the wisdom to use it.  What if I accidentally did something?
 âYou did!â exclaimed Aaliyah.
 âWhat!?  What did I do?â I demanded.
âHelped people.  You felt them in need, and you subconsciously helped them.  You never like worrying about the details, so donât.  Weâre here to race!â she insisted.
 âWhereâs the finish?â I asked.
Grinning even wider, she said, âOne thousand miles ahead.â
I gaped.  That distance seemed insane for a âquick raceâ.
âReally push yourself.â she told me, taking position to run.
âIâll fire the gun!â exclaimed a⊠different Aaliyah?  Her clothes were entirely different at least, and the gun she held was bigger than she was.
I took position, feeling there was no point in arguing with what I was seeing.  I pulled in more and more energy as I prepared for the gunshot.  The boom of the shot was incredible, but I passed it shortly after I started running.  Aaliyah was easily keeping pace, so I pushed myself harder, thinking of nothing but the road, my footing, and the flow of energy through me.  I hadnât ran for fun like this since I quit the track team.
I saw a finish line ahead with at least a hundred Aaliyahs cheering.  Was this really a thousand miles already?  In that moment she passed me.  Then she passed me again, and again, and again.  As I reached the finish line, she passed me once more.  Looking back after I slowed to a stop, I guessed I had taken over a mile just to come to a full stop.
âHow does Raine do it?  She feels like it.â claimed Aaliyah, looking ready to go again.  âThanks!  You look perfectly energetic too, boss-man, sir.â
âIs that how you do it as well?â I asked.
She brushed away the thought with a wave of her hand and said, âNah.  My feelings are for you, cake, my daddy, other friends.  No need to waste feelings on stopping.â
I laughed and shook my head.  Aaliyah was always amazing.
