#at this point we can all agree that these aren't typed and sent to us by a human right?#that fact has nothing to do with disputing the fundraiser attached#i haven't talked about this yet but i had a few messages from someone claiming they had a contact that could boost my gofundme#i don't have a gofundme but i asked for their contact's info#it didn't get any further- possibly that message was also a bot and i said the wrong thing to get the contact's info#but it seems very obvious to me that there's some sort of fundraiser boosting service that a lot of fundraisers are using#in normal circumstances using bot asks and spam tagging and cold emailing would cause anger and annoyance#and if anything harm your fundraiser#but this is tumblr so everyone is like 'i am speaking to a real human and they are reaching out to me :'0'#like donate if you decide to! go for it. It's just a weird situation where tumblr has caused widespread social validation of spambots#i suspect this may go to some less worthy places in future so look out for that#btw this is likely another reason blogs connected to fundraisers get banned- it's not maliciousness because tumblr hates war refugees#it's because there are bots connected to this person's activity#tbh i think it is a very good thing that tumblr is still taking action against botting#and not just letting them run riot- y'know?#like the cleaning of a house it never ends
