innmy opinion;

🥇- mockingjay

🥈- the hunger games (original)

🥉- catching fire

reasons--

i put mockingjay first because reading it was an enamoring experience; i read it in one sitting on christmas. the ebook was a christmas gift LOL. i remember the experience being a twist of emotions- from happy, to surprised, to upset, to angry, etc. which made me super excited to read. and i remember sobbing my eyes out after the epilogue (love crying after a good book). mockingjay was a captivating conclusion to the trilogy, which is why it's my personal favorite. (im still mad about finnick and annie and prim!!)

i put the original in second because (obviously) it started my infatuation with the trilogy overall and i was obsessed. the hunger games was a school book and honestly one of the best school books i've ever read. i remember talking about it with my classmates, sharing our opinions and reactions to the various events of the book. i also adored its criticism of the government- how it displayed panem to push attention to the capitol while the other districts were suffering (it also really resonates with some current situations in the world right now) , which made me feel seen.

i put catching fire in third because even though it was interesting, it felt super long :,). i enjoyed the victors' tour and the events within it. but when the quarter quell began lemme tell u i was a little exhausted. it's not that the quarter quell wasn't a good part of the book (we were introduced to finnick and johanna, as well as other victors, info on haymitch's games, etc..), it was just a lot for me to digest. however i did enjoy it, it's just not a favorite of mine.
