Things I wrote down about today’s show!!

Covers: Trevi Ponyboy, Dan Darrel, Sequoiia Dallas, JPC Paul, Hailey Bev, and Matthew Brill!

Act 1:

- Dan Darrel is so exhausted oh my god

- “That’s two bit Matthews!” 😊 Pause 🧐😟 “that’s Dallas Winston!”😊

- Trevi’s voice oml

- JPC Paul laying with Davis Chet on the hood of the car at the drive in

- Paul lit Bev’s cigarette

- Sequoiia Dally is so gentle with Johnny

- Sequoiia did the “there ain’t no way a boy can make it out on the streets” bit of GGAH and looked directly at Johnny

- Sequoiia forced the chocolate bar into Johnny’s hands

- The “you ain’t got no blanket” line was done almost teasing, like he was trying to lighten the mood

- During the drive in, JPC Paul slowly started paying more attention to Cherry and Dally’s conversation and was so alert by the end

- FAFT today, holy love song

- Dan’s face after the slap was so heartbreaking

- JPC Paul was bitter and angry during the drowning scene

- Sequoiia did this stunning higher note during run run brother

Act 2:

- JPC’s “Bob didn’t need to die” with the growl and riff(?) was incredible to hear live

- Trevi and Sky held onto each other for a while after DAMD

- The Darrel Dally fight scene was insane- it escalated so fast and Dan and Sequoiia kept the tension going

- Dan’s ability to be that emotional while also delivering a stunning performance of throwing in the towel needs to be studied

- Soda held Darrel’s head against his chest while he was leaning over him for the titt hug

- Dan was crying and nodding and shaking his head during Jason’s verses of titt

- Trevi turned and faced Dally to do the “it’s my fault, I shouldn’t have run in after them kids” line and the self hatred on his face broke me

- Darrel turned over Soda’s hand in the background of hopeless war and fixed the wrapping on his wrist

- Ponyboy walked up to where the socs were passing around a flask during hopeless war and stopped for a few seconds and just watched

- During Trouble, Dan did his “once a greaser, always a greaser” line like he was so dead set on it that Dally looked kinda stunned and someone had to pat him on the back

- JPC Paul was so bitter during the background and forth convo with Darrel before the rumble

- Darrel yelled “Soda” during the rumble

- After the rumble, Darrel put his hands on either side of Pony’s face and looked at him and smiled before pulling him into a hug

- After he broke apart from Pony, Darrel said “Soda, you good?” then hugged Soda

- Trevi flinched back when he dropped Johnny’s hand and it fell against the hospital bed and scrambled to grab it again only to realize it was heavy and lifeless

- When Pony did his “Johnny?” “Johnny?” Lines, he got slightly closer to Johnny and sounded more desperate each time

- After Johnny died, Two Bit put his forehead against Johnny’s

- Sequoiia’s little brother.

- The brothers scene before Soda’s breakdown and during Soda’s breakdown- you can just tell Darrel and Soda are both trying so hard to hold what’s left of their family together

- Dan Darrel held himself together until he started reading Pony’s story, when he did, his voice started breaking

They've released heavy hitter after heavy hitter, I'm a binge watcher so it kills me to have to wait for the next episode or season 😭

Daniel Sloss was an absolute GEM and took photos with everyone who stayed after his amazing performance of Can't at Town Hall that opened the New York Comedy Festival this year. SO much fun, and he signed my copy of his book! 🥰

My trip was incredible, the Inside cabaret show at 54 Below was a BLAST (I had on disco ball jewelry courtesy of @ilickedthegardenwall), and @nicoleanell couldn't have been a more gracious host.

We even went to the Brooklyn Cat Cafe (and I got a beautiful turquoise shirt)! 💗

People hate me for it but he's my favorite Sherlock for that reason. Always an incredible show.

Oh and that show introduced me to Gil Scott-Heron and by extension Robert Johnson.

rewatching elementary now with the knowledge Jonny Lee Miller had started with his own sobriety and recovery whilst filming is honestly transcendent. He is so GOOD. he is gut-wrenching. The scene where Sherlock explains his sobriety feels like a leaking faucet that requires constant maintenance and offers only not to drip in return - jlm does this thing with his voice where he's on the verge of tears but bored all at once. He's wrecked by a feeling he's utterly sick to death of having. It's such a compassionate performance. On another level it is truly crazy to me that we have so many Sherlock Holmes adaptations so eager to make Sherlock an addict, but Elementary is far and away the only adaptation that does that and takes the addiction seriously. Perhaps in part because of JLM's real life recovery, but we'll never know. On a rewatch, it's a lot :')
