But as I started to be close to God by hearing what he wants to tell me.. Dwelling in the shelter of the Most High? What does that mean to you? IMO it's all about the heart and trying to live by the truths that God has placed in your heart. It's doing the NEXT right thing. We're all going to fail, we'll sin, and we'll fall flat on our backsides, at times, but we can get up and start again. The next right choice is crucial. Break the cycle of poor choices. Forgive if necessary. Let go when you must. Step away from toxic relationships. Anything that hinders your growth, give it up. We humans are created in God’s image and likeness, and He has never changed His mind about us. We have absolutely everything within us to be the men and women He made us to be. And that is very, very good. We are very, very good.

Someone on Twitter told me "pray about it and be open to fail. It will make you stronger." And her words struck me like a ton of bricks. This person had decided that after two terms into a PhD, it was no longer what she wanted and she made a brave choice; to step away from the programme and reevaluate what makes her happy. Her post comes at an ideal time because I have spent the past six months cracking my head about what I will do after the MA - PhD, go home, stay here or find a job - and at first, I was more determined than ever to apply to do a PhD. However, I failed to be shortlisted for a studentship I had applied for at one of the universities and at the moment I am still planning to apply to another but the application process has been so overwhelming that I have forgotten to consult God; the most important being I should have approached first and foremost about anything and everything especially my future.

For He is the reason I am here (in one of the top universities in UK pursuing my dream) and on the surface, it seems that I am grateful to Him (which I truly am) but deep inside, I have forgotten to put Him first. Hence, I love what the girl tweeted me but I would rephrase it to "pray and let your failings show you how great and faithful God is".

So this is what I'm going to do for the remaining six months of my MA; I'm going to work hard to secure a distinction for my MA so that I may glorify Him through all the blessings He has showered me with. And at the same time, pray that He will show me what He wants me to do in the immediate future and also how I'm going to fulfill this dream He instilled in me 12 years ago.
