You know, ever since for obvious reasons we don't have major cinematic releases in our theatres it made me think just how truly rare people even think about russian cinema existing... Kind of sad. Like Hollywood makes a fuckton of films every year and a few of them are decent yet still have exposure - Russia makes like 30 pictures a year tops and maybe one of them gets recognised for being decent on home grounds (all of the others are either part 69 of a dead franchise money grab or just some shitty women sluts men drunks hetero happy end fuck all)

And like... We do have good movies. You can even find them online, with eng subs or voiceover sometimes! Netflix has Major Grom, which is a very very russian superhero story adaptation of a very very russian comic book series (bet you're hearing that for the first time)

Besides, soviet cinema is the best, period. It's grandiose and camp and sincere and I adore it with all my heart.

So... Maybe expand your horizons? Even just by watching Inside Lapenko on youtube or searching some wonderful Soviet cartoons, like Hedgehog in the fog or Mystery of the Third planet? Just maybe.
