The Power of a Slow Morning: Savoring Your Space, Recharging Your Soul

In a world that glorifies the rush, there’s something profoundly transformative about a slow morning. Instead of jolting awake and diving straight into to-do lists, imagine easing into the day—sipping tea while feeling the warmth of the cup in your hands, letting sunlight filter through the curtains, breathing in the quiet stillness before the world speeds up.

A slow morning isn’t just about moving at a relaxed pace; it’s about creating an environment that invites mindfulness. A space that nurtures rather than overstimulates. Soft lighting, intentional design, and elements that reflect balance—these choices influence your nervous system, setting the tone for the day ahead.

Home isn’t just a place—it’s a feeling. The other day, I shared a simple carousel post about what it means to have a home that feels like you. And to be honest, I was taken aback (in the best way) by how many of you resonated with it. The comments, the messages, the stories you shared—it was clear that home is something deeply personal to all of us. Because home isn’t just decor, or a perfectly curated space, or the right aesthetic. It’s not about what looks good on a Pinterest board. It’s about comfort, belonging, and the quiet moments of life that happen within these walls. For me, home has always been less about where we are and more about who we’re with. My son has said for years: “Home is wherever we all are together.” And he’s right. We’ve carried that sentiment with us through so many seasons of life—camping in a tent, travelling in our camper van, and even during the two years we had to move out of our home due to major renovations. It wasn’t easy, and not every moment was filled with joy, but we made a conscious effort to create home wherever we were. Ultimately, home isn’t just a physical space. It’s the warmth of familiar voices. The comfort of a pet curling up beside you. The scent of your favourite candle, the soft glow of a lamp in the evening, the quiet hum of a place that holds you just as you are. So I sat down and wrote more about this—about the feeling of home, about creating spaces that feel like us, and about letting go of the pressure to have a “perfect” home when what we really want is a meaningful one. I just gave our #homeschoolroom its biannual clean up this past weekend and recorded a #homeschoolroomtour video too so that you can see how we have it set up for this year in 2019. . . You don’t need a specific room to homeschool, but a space to store things - whether that’s a drawer, book shelf, closet or corner I think is so important to keep at least this mama same. . . Tools for living in close quarters. Door hangers. Setting down the lay of the land before we head into quarantine week four (on my side of the pond anyway) has allowed all of us to breathe. Grab your gel pens, your notepads, and get clear on personal space and schedules. Hang those babies up and get to it. Just because you’re at home doesn’t mean the world stops spinning, the clock stops ticking, and pj’s are the new nine to five. What you do in that space is up to you, all you have to do is own it. ::Sacred spaces:: We just bought a house a few months ago and having a 1 yr old makes everything take alot longer than expected! I started to notice how, even though I felt so grounded and light in this new space, there was this scattered energy creeping beneath the surface. I finally had the realization that it was because we had not made space for an alter yet! My alter was in a box, still packed up. I finally got it together and unpacked that box, and created our alter in our bedroom- it used to be in my yoga room/office before, but now that room is also serving as a guest bedroom (whenever that finally comes together 😂), and I want our alter to be in a private, sacred sanctuary space where it’s safe. I have to say- it’s so much more powerful here! I ised to have to walk up a spiral staircase on the third floor to get to the old one... and after Mina was born, i hardly EVER made it up there because I never felt safe bringing her up there. I see the alter so much now, and it constantly gives me opportunity to pray, intend, thank the Great Mystery, and ground in. Do you have an alter? I usually always have the ‘alter talk’ with my fertility clients, as it is such a powerful manifestation tool, but it also gives us a place to have some things live ‘outside’ of ourselves instead of them being stuck inside, festering. Having an alter is a focal point for our intentions, wishes and prayers. It is a place to ground in and take up space, reminding us every time we walk by that this life is sacred, that our prayers are sacred. We have the opportunity to put energy into those wishes and prayers and intentions every time we walk by. It also does the work for us, just by being there! Of course, the more time and energy we put into it, the stronger and more sacred it becomes, which is some of it’s incredible beauty and power!
