The number of outlandish requests that Kat had to fill for her mother at times was something right out of a comedy. She had been hard at work at her office when a stream of SOS texts from her mom had come through, urgently requesting that Kat head to the shop to find her a love potion. Waiting as long as she could before her mom started to get antsy about it, Kat had packed up her office and headed to Devine and Co to see what options they had. Heading inside, Kat lifted a hand to wave over towards Bash as she entered in. “Bash, hey,” she greeted, walking in a few steps and looking around a bit. “Hoping you can help me out here. Some lady at the country club just got engaged and she swears it happened because of some love potion...which my mother is now adamant that she needs a vial of. Do you do that kind of thing here? Or have something that looks like it could be a love potion that I can pawn off on her?”

October was the best time of year, in Bash’s opinion. When the leaves began to change it meant business would be booming at the shop, candy corn was in abundance and every year without fail Halloween would sweep through Providence Peak turning into a vibrant spookfest for everyone to enjoy.

And Victoria Carlyle sure did know how to throw one hell of a party.

He’d been dancing for the better part of an hour now and desperately needed a drink. Laughing as he extracted himself from a tight group of zombie smurfs, Bash stumbled from the dancefloor only to narrowly avoid knocking right into somebody else.

“Whoa, sorr- hey, awesome costume! Did you make that all yourself?”

While Halloween wasn’t at the top of Kat’s list of holidays, she still was willing to get into the spirit of it all and dress up for each of the events going on over the week. She’d kept it pretty simple this year, a costume she made herself of Jane Goodall with a few stuffed monkeys hanging off the costume. She was lost in thought walking through the hotel, not realizing she was just about to crash into Bash until they both narrowly moved out of the way.

Reaching out a hand to steady both herself and Bash, Kat offered a bright grin in his direction. “Why, thank you, I did indeed. Didn’t go all too crazy with it this year, but it gets the job done,” Kat shrugged. “Yours looks good too! How long did it take you to put all of that together?”

Bash looked down at himself with a grimace. It had taken several more hours than he liked to admit to get himself and his clothes silver. At the time, Tin Man had seemed like an amazing idea, but it was 3AM when he thought of it and he’d been watching old Judy Garland movies at the time. The regret hadn’t started to sink in until he was halfway through and by then he was determined not to turn back.

“Meh, only like an hour, give or take… twelve,” he said with a shrug, then nodded to her outfit with a curious smile. She really did look awesome, even if he wasn’t quite sure what she was going for. “So… what are you, exactly? Is it like… wicked witch of the west if she’d never been green?”

Twelve hours to make the costume was a true commitment and Kat couldn’t help but grimace just as much as Bash was when he said it. “Twelve hours? That’s absolutely impressive,” Kat admitted with a soft laughter. “I’m starting to feel a little underdressed, I just threw this together a few days ago and called it good.” Kat oscillated between really putting effort into a costume and just rolling with whatever she could scrounge up last minute to have something. 

“A wicked witch of the west would have been pretty rad, but I’m Jane Goodall. She’s the lady that did all the work with the chimpanzees?” Kat explained, motioning towards the cute monkeys hanging around on her outfit. “It was easy to put together. I usually go with some historic figure, this year just felt like someone a little more current and she was a good option.” Plus, Kat had already had most of the outfit to make it work in her closet.
