And ye certainly won’t learn to sword fight, fer it be far too dangerous for but an intern, and the liability insurance would be through the roof. . But ye will learn other important pirate skills like swabbing the decks and scrubbing barnacles off the keel. It be not the most interesting of pirating tasks, but necessary tasks they be just the same. Also note that, be ye a lady pirate, ye may be asked to take on additional chores on the ship like darning socks and cleaning the pots and pans in the galley. ‘Tis not that we believe the men pirates can’t do those things, it’s just that ye lady pirates be so much better at them than they. We hope ye understands. . Many a prospective intern has inquired about our ship’s swag-sharing policy, so we want to be totally transparent here. Our crew would love to share our pirate booty with ye, but the reality is that privateering be a difficult trade what with the constant battles with the Spanish Armada and other pirate vessels, so we cannot afford to give our pirate interns a share of our spoils at this time. Tomorrow is my first day off in two weeks...Clearly I have no plans to leave my couch. If anyone needs me, I'll be curled up under my heated blanket, most likely with a couple cats sprawled out on top of me.

Some times I sit and ask myself: what exactly is the point Mikelle. Why do you put in all of these late hours into an industry that seems intent on not paying you back monetarily and at times seems to not even want you here any way? Like what's the point? Normally here is where I would point to that one moment that makes it all worth it; either that point at which people begin to congratulate a designer on an amazing show I helped with or front page of some newspaper but ... I can't. Im not where I want to end up and as a matter of fact I'm no where close but I just hope that one day all of these long nights and early mornings where I juggle an assignment for class as well as various social media accounts and edit a digital platform will all pay off. Till then I guess I'll listen to my playlists till late in the night alone in a cold bed with only electronics to keep me sane. Night XOXO Sent from Damien
