born and raised in daegu, south korea, she was immediately baptized into her church in her hospital room at only three days old. 

she grew up in a neighborhood consisting of fellow members of the church, it was all she’s ever known. she grew up with the communities kids, calling people auntie and uncle despite not being blood related to them.

she grew up and mirrored her environment, placing her entire identity in the verses they read during sermon and even going so far as to joining their choir. 

when her father was promoted to pastor when she was 20, they sent him and the family to seoul in order to recruit more people into joining.

now less sheltered and able to be exposed to different lifestyles in a bigger city, she slowly began to realize how strange things were and how suspicious her parents were when it came to the church.

seeing her reluctance in being as involved as she once was, her family forced her to join the youth group who would walk around schools to try and convince people their age to join. for a while she was content in her parents approval and saw everything as harmless.

it wasn’t until her father left his office door open and she happened upon banking documents, thousands upon thousands of dollars being “donated” to not only the church but directly to her father’s name. she continued to snoop through his things, reading his emails and finding correspondence about numerous horrible things that goes on within her church’s walls.

she confronted her father about this, to which he admitted to everything and knew what he was doing, but emphasized that it’s god’s will and he was only a messenger. she turned her back on him and her family, and decided to pack up her things and leave. her father let her, not saying anything to his wife until the day after.

the first place she thought to go to was busan, where her paternal grandparents lived. they weren’t involved in the church and were the only family she knew she could trust. they helped her by giving her a small sum of money to take care of herself but knew that her parents would be looking for her and it wasn’t safe to stay with them. they told her of a little town an hour away, one where they knew a friend of a friend that could get her a job right away. 

she stayed at the inn for a few weeks before meeting kwon inna, the teahouse owner, and was more than grateful when she offered a spare room in her home. 

her initial job was at the fish farm but after an accidental interview with the chief reporter, was given the job of staff at the ilbo on the spot (probably due to the fact that they are severely understaffed but, she appreciates it nonetheless kajdkajsd). she promptly quit her job as a fisherfolk and, after apologizing profusely, said her goodbyes to the smell of tuna.

currently, she's in charge of lifestyle articles: what do single twenty three year old women seek fulfilment from? she often explores busan to find inspiration for her mini articles, and after sitting on the idea for a few months now, made the decision to one day write an article about her personal experience in her "church"

surprisingly not as demure as people may initially think!! she’s definitely an extrovert, used to talking up people back in her recruiting days, and was often surrounded in groups of other kids her age, often being the "mom friend" amongst them all.

often thrives in group settings, finds one on ones to be too intimate for her comfort. you would have to be a close friend of hers for her to consistently hang out often with just you two alone. she'd prefer masking her personality to be amicable / likable to other people than struggle to keep the spotlight off her on one on one sessions

so yes she is relatively guarded, understandably so considering everything she's ever known was a lie and the two people she thought she could trust the most are actually horrible people. but you know!

is the overbearingly motherly type. carries band aids and extra water bottles in her tote bags in case of an emergency.

can be kind of gullible?? and curious. but only because she doesn't really know any better. most of her morals are based off an ancient book that she's come to hate so really its as malleable as wet clay right now.

she is very much a libra, air headed, living in her own world, but very set in her ways of justice. she always wants to see both sides of a situation and believes in giving the benefit of the doubt. her old friends would always go to her for advice whenever something went wrong.

despite her good intentions, she can often be judgmental, often comparing people to this idea of a good samaritan and sometimes shames people for their mistakes. its a hard habit she's trying to shake but its a work in progress.

cares too much about what people think of her and will go out of her way to ensure that you think she is a nice person and hates the idea of someone disliking her.

basically a mess and the vine where he goes: I WANT A CHURCH GIRL WHO GOES 2 CHURCH........aND READS THE BIBLEEEE but is now trying to find her identity outside of her faith which she's decided to abandon.

Hello everyone!! Call me Jess (she/her), I’m really excited to finally bring this character to life, I’ve truthfully been thinking about a character like Taeri for a long time and I’m happy I found a place to introduce her in! 

Personally, I think writing is not one of my biggest strengths, but I greatly enjoy developing a character, whether it’s through trials and tribulations, or good and bad relationships, I really like to sit and carefully figure out my character to their very core. However, like in real life, a big part of figuring yourself out comes with making connections; negative, positive, people who just breeze by, who just stop to say hello, people you want to watch drag race with, or people you met once but you still ended up following on social media and now you don’t remember who the fuck they are! So yes, by all means I would love to explore any type of connections with any of you and I’m more than looking forward to it!

Now I’m gonna be real with y’all, Taeri is going to be hard to deal with in the beginning. She’s still grieving her girlfriend, she’s lost her job, and now she’s back at her hometown in Yunhwa having to deal with her family as the oldest daughter once again (oldest daughters out there... y’all know damn well what I’m talking about). So yes, at this point in her life, she wears her bitchy, judgemental attitude everywhere and she’s kind of a hard nut to crack through, still not really having fully processed the sharp shifts her life has taken in the past year. If any of you like a bit of a challenge, she’s definitely your girl!

so, y'all lovely people, here i am to introduce you my baby, nam minah! she's actually a revamp of a muse that i had not so long ago and i wanted to bring her back since i missed her so much. as usual, here is her profile and here is her bio; and here a not very good plots page! i can plot through here or discord, i don't really have a preference so just let me know if you guys do, i have no problem giving my discord then! so yeah, i think this is it? i can't wait to plot with everyone 🥰️

nam minah. 26 years. freelance artist. she was actually born and mostly raised in yunhwa! but moved to seoul for high school and then to paris to attend an art college/school because she actually got an scholarship, so there is where she was living (still sort of is) until she decided to visit her family in yunhwa.

lives in sunjaro street, above the tavern with a roommate actually! (i'll submit a wc about it later) since she didn't want to impose at her parents' house because her sister still lives there. she's working on their relationship with baby steps.

the epitome of being there for the fun and experience, that's basically the reason why she does 99.9% of the things that she does. isn't afraid to try new things (and is usually good at them even in her first try) or do adventurous things, so you know, call her to do anything and high chances she'll always say yes.

very chill and friendly, good at small talking. social skills above 8000 and is mostly minding her business unless for some reason you make your business her business.

seems like an airhead, but she really is not. she's actually pretty smart (pls, look at her perfect grades even during high school) and is very perceptive of her surroundings and people in general.

sort of fickle with anyone that isn't part of her family. she gets attached to people as easily as she gets detached which could affect some friendships and especially romantic relationships (especially when she goes through some of them because she was just curious to where it'd lead), but she's always sincere and doesn't really lead anyone on (idk if this makes sense?? hope it does)

lowkey famous in the art community (so any fans?? as a possible plot??) and she has a couple of important awards that she won back at her apartment in paris. once she was very proud of them but now they sort of feel like a burden.

is going through a very hard artist block and that's why she decided to come back to yunhwa to sort of try to reconnect with her roots and to try to make amends with her sister so talking about which—

they have a very rocky relationship to say the very least. whether it was the case or not, minah was always treated as the favorite daughter in one way or another because she was the pretty daughter and the one good at everything, so her little sister ended up on her shadow more often than not. that made her resent minah a lot even when minah tried her best to save it.

she has always shown a little more affinity to the arts, especially painting, since she was young even if she was basically good at everything that she tried (and since she has always been the curious type, she tried a lot of things) so her parents sent her to seoul to live with an uncle so she could have more chances to explore her affinity with the arts.

her sister, feeling like she'd be left behind, decided to go as well even if she was still in middle school. a long argument ensued, but they both ended up going to seoul. the uncle didn't really... care for them or looked after them that well, he left them alone a lot so minah sort of took charge. besides getting busy with part times so her parents didn't need to spend too much money on her and her sister's lives in seoul.

got more recognition during high school for her paintings and even won some competitions which got her into an art college/school in paris, france after her graduation. sort of settled in there until her art block started and here she is in yunhwa again.

fun fact: got scouted for an entertainment agency during high school but refused the audition because one she was already busy enough as she was and two she never dreamed of being an idol anyway, at that point already having decided to pursue an artistic career, but she does like to wonder sometimes what would've happened if she had been to the audition and got accepted.

hey y’all, I’m here with hotheaded, angry boi with a sad streak, kim yeol! he’s your typical celebrity who’s a little bit of a diva and while he can be arrogant and painfully straightforward, he’s pretty much harmless when you get to know him. he’s an idol on hiatus after a recent controversy, to which his company sent him to yunhwa to reflect and take his mind off things. so, yes, he unfortunately does not want to be here. BACKGROUND.

just up until a month ago, yeol was the it boy of south korea; his face was plastered across every billboard, magazine and television screen

he debuted in 2015 and rose to fame a year within his debut, his popularity exceeded the rest of group so his company started to heavily promote him 

he made his solo debut in 2018, which did way better than any of his group releases so while his popularity went through the roof, the rest of his members remained below the radar 

his fame and success got to his head and it doesn’t help that he was the only child in a broken family, one that grew up craving attention and validation from his emotionally unavailable parents

his mother was a hardcore gambler and his father eventually left them when he decided he had enough, leaving yeol under the care of his toxic mother

he was scouted by his company when he was twelve and his mother pushed for him to be a trainee as she thought he’d make a lot of money as an idol

his growing fame only took a toll on him as he dealt with greater expectations and pressure from his company; he was meant to release a solo album at the start of the year but is currently going through a slump, unable to write any new songs

he was facing a lot of emotional distress, which resulted in burnout and anger management issues

after gaining success in his career, his mother started asking him for money but he refused to give her any as he knew she’d gamble it away 

there was a particular incident when he got off a nasty phone call with his mother and vented his anger on his manager

someone saw it happen and rumours about his attitude problem started spreading online; netizens were angered and people started to boycott him

in hopes of calming the storm, his company announced his hiatus and he was sent to yunhwa, for him to reflect and take his mind off things

it certainly isn’t easy for a prima donna like him to move to a small town so I’d assume that he’ll wreck a bit of havoc and maybe liven things up a bit? LOL 

he definitely wants to get out of here asap but isn’t allowed to until he writes new songs, good enough for a redeeming comeback to fix his image (whether or not this changes, we’ll have to see)

he is actually still on good terms with his manager (who do you think he’s constantly ranting to on the phone? LMAO think shane gray complaining about his lack of hair product in camp rock)

he does not get along with his members who believed he was planning to leave the group to go solo (it’s true), he was often seen alone, which didn’t help with his diva image (it might be the same here at yunhwa too though I’d definitely like for him to make some genuine connections that he lacks back at home!)

WANTED CONNECTIONS.

boi here needs some friends, I’d love for some unexpected / opposite dynamic friendships, kinda like sweet country bumpkin meets spoilt brat from the city?

that could work for a romantic connection as well, someone he does not expect to fall for because of how different they are but when does his heart ever listen to him?? think stargazing dates or horse rides to nowhere, the kind of cliché shit that’ll get his city boy heart pumping 

people that absolutely hate his guts; they think he doesn’t belong here and is only polluting the fresh air lmfao maybe someone that is up to date with entertainment news and has heard about his controversy?

alternatively, a plot with a fan would be fun too; maybe someone that is disappointed to hear about the rumours and decided to drop him LOL, or someone that doesn’t reveal themselves as a fan but silently supports him and eventually finds out that there’s a softie underneath that tough exterior

or someone who has no clue about who he is at all and treats him however they want to, something he hasn’t experienced in awhile so yes, he’d ironically really appreciate that even if all they do is curse him out lol 

a motherly or fatherly figure since he really lacks that; sometimes he just wants to be stroked on his head, or to be told that he did well

likewise, sibling/familial-like ties would be nice too, he grew up really lonely with a deficit for love and affection so he’d die for some of that, might even make him like it here so much he doesn’t wanna go back

tw: death/accident

- taejun was born and raised  in yunhwa on his grandparents tangerine farm! while his grandparents run the farm, his parents work in the business sector of busan. - (has a sibling,, although i haven't decided if they're older or younger for any connections!) - grew up spending a lot of time on the farm and swimming at the beach. - was a regular kid, with his stubborn and energetic nature. he was always running around and playing with neighborhood friends. did well in school and even better with sports! - despite messing around a lot, he never got into any serious trouble, mostly just playful banter and jokes - after his first year in high school, his father was promoted and so the family moved up to seoul while his grandparents stayed in yunhwa - taejun continued school up to graduation and was offered an athletic scholarship to uni for swimming - wanting to focus on his athletic career in one go, he decided to get his military duties out the way first - after he finished serving, he went straight to uni and started training for competitions!! and he did really well with training actually! - tw: near the end of his first year though, he gets into an accident while riding the bus home one night after a long night of training. of the five passengers on the bus, he's the only survivor and falls into a coma - he's in his coma for about a year and when he wakes up, he's told that he won't be able to continue swimming competitively anymore and it honestly kind of makes him feel very lost because he doesn't know what else he'd do aside from that - two months after waking up, he's in physical therapy and his parents encourage him to go back to school to continue getting a degree but the only thing is he's completely lost - and he's not quite sure how to process all the information of having been in a coma for one year and the only survivor of five on that bus - so he decides to go to yunhwa to live with his grandparents and help them out on their farm. - while he also gets physical therapy in busan, he's basically just a farm hand and trying to figure out what he wants to do next - has been in yunhwa for two months now,, so he’s only been up for four months since waking up!

- pretty open to any plots!! friends, ex-friends, competitors from swimming, people he met in seoul, - big movies that came out within the past year that he doesn't know about and you find out he was in a coma? - pulling pranks on him now that he's back in town? - very open to anything since he's pretty friendly and open to talk to anyone!

—     Han Gisu was born on August 9th, 1996 by Han Sunhee (F) with an unknown father in Yunghwa, making him a native. Han Sunhee worked as a server at a local breakfast cafe where she used this job as the sole basis on raising Gisu by herself since the father wasn’t in the picture. She often struggled and couldn’t afford a lot of things to give her son the most comfortable of life, but the mother sacrificed as much as she could for him (even if he spent a lot of time in relatives homes for babysitting until he graduated elementary school).

—     Growing up, his mother, pushing on the sacrifices, created a white lie about the father figure. She would always tell him extreme tales about the lives his father has saved and how the two met through the cafe like a typical melodrama. She gave him starlit eyes that lighted with false pretenses despite the fire that oh-so-called consumed his father before Gisu’s birth. Although, he never doubted Sunhee. Why would she lie to him anyways? The two always had such a good connection, especially when it came to Gisu picking up his own part time in high school to help aid his mother’s growing age.

—     In 2015, Gisu took it upon himself to attend an online school while obtaining acceptance at a firefighter academy in Busan, just like his.. ‘father’ who he wanted to do proud. Being as intelligent and diligent as he always was, the classes came by easy, he passed the academy with flying colors. Gisu originally dreamed of becoming a big time worker in the massive city of Seoul, but he missed home, yearned for it even. Everything he’s ever dreamed or thought of, was back in Yunhwa. 

—     2018, he returned to Yunhwa and became part of the local fire department, feeling rather achieved with his life as well as the relationships he’s developed with the others. The job also helped him gain a close connection with all the natives and learn the names of long-term visitors. Although, there wasn’t much.. fires being dealt with. He more so saved cats and old ladies. Maybe that’s how he enjoyed it, right? The ease, the simplicity, the smile of his mother when he treats her to a big fancy lunch.

—     Han Gisu grew up extremely quiet. He’s never been one to forcefully socialize himself as he felt like his mother and cousins were enough to get him by, despite how much his mother encouraged him to go about in life. Instead, the boy indulged in video games on his handheld PSP (now Switch). He enjoys simple games like Hades, Animal Crossing, Resident Evil, etc. Mostly solo playing games but he does indulge into LoL and DBD during his free time.

—     The previous bullet makes him sort of awkward, but after warming up, Gisu can become a sweet comedian that likes making people laugh. Just a warning, he’s a bit impulsive, especially when it pertains to his job as he has a hard time following guidelines.

—     Muscle addict. No one in his department cares about their fitness or diet as much as Gisu does, no one. He constantly follows a strict eating habit with the desire to reduce his body fat percentage. Only occasionally will he let that diet slip for extreme occasions. He also spends time at the gym at least once a day for three hours in the mornings.

hi everyone! it’s kangdae’s mun ( jas /pst, 20+)with a second muse, ryu yiseul! she’s for sure a lot calmer and more pensive than kangdae is but i hope you guys like her just as much! yiseul is a 27 year old food critic from seoul, those she’s been working at a busan food magazine for two years!  she’s been in yunhwa for a few months and is still isn’t the most active in the community, so please like this post if you would like to plot with her and click the read more to learn about her!

yiseul grew up an only child, her father a school teacher and her mother a stay at home mom,  her mother used to make her own jam as a hobby and therefore that made yiseul quite interested in baking pastries throughout her youth.

she was very shy as a child, and had a hard time making friends until she started to share the pastries her mom would make with her.

she fell in love with cooking in middle school but also poetry as well during her literature classes. 

she is rather formal, her parents aren’t sure where she got it from, but tend to joke it’s because of her love for historical novels and films

she has a korean lit degree from ewha womans university; she worked a local bookstore and also participated in poetry readings throughout college

went to japan for a study aboard program for two semesters

moved to busan for a job at a food magazine, and her editor is crazy, therefore it wasn’t uncommon for yiseul to be given last minute assignments like tracking mountains or jetting off to a different country to find food to review for her blog

was sent to yunhwa to do a deep dive on traditional korean and organic food and how it’s changing

is very much a homebody, has probably left the house five times since moving in

her dad is a second-gen japanese-american, while her mom is from korea (yunhwa!!) and only came to america several years prior to meeting sachi’s dad and having her

she grew up pretty well off and didn’t have any problems growing up. she just always knew that she wanted to be ✨famous✨

fast forward to middle school, her dad got transferred to a company branch in tokyo, but he didn’t want to make the fam pack up and leave so he just moved out on his own and made occasional visits back home

sachi spent most summers with him in japan (her mom would sometimes come up for a week or two but stayed home otherwise)

she initially picked up vlogging as a hobby/fun way of keeping her mom updated on what she was up to during the longer trips (occasionally made some for dad if something interesting was happening at home, but for the most part he was too busy with work to check up)

then one day she noticed more people watching her videos and leaving her comments and she’s been hooked on the site since

these days she’s got about 300k followers now but losing more and more by the day, making her lowkey stressed over what content to upload to make people stay/get new subs

and then on valentine’s day, her mom suddenly declared that she was packing up and moving back to korea (specifically yunhwa), which is super out of character for her since she’s usually so timid and kind of just goes along with whatever sachi or her dad say so sachi’s pretty 👀 but knows that it must be serious— and she loves her mom so she’ll support whatever she wants (even tho she just thinks her dad did something whack and this is just a phase)

so she uses this opportunity to make “moving to south korea!” a new series on her channel where she’ll be documenting everything in hopes of getting them views!!

personality wise...

⋆ ― yunhee and yunmi are twins. ⋆ ― their parents are still very traditional and close-minded. also worked a lot and were really absent but were also overbearing, wanting certain paths for their daughters like studying medicine or something else. ⋆ ― its thanks to their grandparents that the twins can explore their interests and likes freely. ⋆ ― yunhee spent more time with their grandad, and he taught her a lot of useful things in order to be independent and solve problems on her own. he also taught her what he knows about cars and it’s something she easily absorbed and came to really love. ⋆ ― she used to love living in yunhwa but it soon becomes boring for her. there were a few exceptions to this like a city boy who used to visit and she’d spend all her days playing with him (until he stopped coming) or playing soccer with the other kids in her free time. ⋆ ― noticing this like of hers and how she started growing a little bored of it the more she played with the same kids, her grandfather helped her be part of an all girls soccer team in busan and he’d drive her there 3 times a week for practice. ⋆ ― ever since then she dreamed to become a professional player. ⋆ ― she was given a sports scholarship for a college in seoul, her parents were reluctant and they had to come to a compromise where yunhee would study accounting in exchange to be allowed to be part of the soccer team. ⋆ ― she thought she was leaving yunhwa for good. ⋆ ― yunhee then meets there her childhood friend, kitae, and after a couple of months they start dating (though they broke up in her junior year.) ⋆ ―  in her senior year she got a really bad injury mid game and her ankle was fractured. it was so bad that she had to undergo surgery and the doctor advised her to never play again.  ⋆ ― her parents used this chance to bring her back to yunhwa and that’s how she ended up there. she doesn’t go out though, the first months she spends them completely holed up in her room and only decided to go out a couple of days before the festival to welcome the new mayor (edited on feb 27). ⋆ ― however after a couple of months they demanded she got a job. which her grandpa helped her with and landed her one as one of the mechanic’s assistants. this is all because the owner owed him a favor. ⋆ ― she accepts right away, thinking she’d have the chance to help fixing cars but instead she’s asked to sort pieces, make inventory, help for the accounting or work the convenience store. the owner often says it's because of her injury but she suspects it’s also because she’s a girl. ⋆ ― she’s supposed to go to physical therapy to recover and she allegedly does once every week, her dad or grandpa drive her to busan, drop her off and go to run some errands or do other stuff because she asked them to since she didn’t like the idea of them waiting. however, reality is that she didn’t want them to see her sneaking out to a nearby arcade where she spends the next 2 hours instead of attending therapy. this comes from her fear of never getting better or completely healed, so why trying in the first place right? ⋆ ― wears a walking boot / orthopaedical shoe and crutches in the present (sorry if i often repeat this while we plot or as i write, it’s important for her mobility and stuff)

( childhood friends ) ⋆ ― a kind of friendship that was forced upon them because their parents were friends and therefore they had to be too, but in reality they never really liked each other and to this day, things are the same. they keep up appearances for their parents sake but when they’re alone, they can’t stop throwing jabs at each other.  ⋆ ― someone who once crushed on her and even confessed, but she turned him down. he always misunderstood this, assuming that yunhee thought she was too good for him when in reality there wasn’t even an ounce of attraction from her side and she always saw him as a dear friend ( given that they probably grew together ). ⋆ ― on the other hand, the curious regular with a genuine interest for cars but could be a little too shy to ask what they’re doing as they fix others cars. yunhee, with a little too much free time in hands, approaches them in an attempt to ask why they come around so often.  ⋆ ― more to be added.

background everyone leaves, and especially so in such a backwater town like yunhwa. but sira loves yunhwa. it’s home. it’s where she has dug her roots, deep into the fertile earth of the naminsan forest, into the expanse of farmland surrounding the town. but, she thinks, surely the people she loves most will stay with her.

time in yunhwa moves like it’s been submerged into cooled soft caramel: slow, sweet, sticky. most days, nothing happens at all, so the people make do in inflating even the most insignificant details into something worth talking about. sira doesn’t mind. after all, there’s always something new to discover in the forest, something new to try at the stalls in bimikil, something to be taken care of at the inn. she keeps busy helping her parents even as a tiny little child, barely tall enough to reach the top of the kitchen counters.

all of her friends at kwangsook academy talk about how they can’t wait to get out of yunhwa. the minute they graduate and hopefully pass the csat, they’re taking a one way trip out of here on the only bus that bothers making a route here. she can’t help but take some offense to it, thinks about how proud her parents are of their inn and the town they and their family before them built from the ground up. aren’t they proud of the work they’ve done?

she goes to a university in busan to study hospitality and tourism management. her inheriting the inn was never a question. besides, it’s something that she’s wanted ever since she was young: to be able to carry on the family legacy and allow her parents to enjoy their lives after toiling away for so many years. she enjoys her time in busan and makes a number of friends, but still she finds herself wanting to head back to yunhwa every time. she finishes her degree and returns home.

most of her schoolmates have left by now, but at least her best friend and her partner are still around. she’s up to her ears in the minutiae of yeyun inn’s everyday operations, but it’s rewarding especially when she sees how much stress is taken off her parents’ shoulders now that she’s able to help properly. slowly but surely, she takes the reins from them almost completely, only requesting their help during particularly busy seasons.

her partner stops her one day when they’re on a date, hiking up to see the yunhwa flowers in full bloom. they’re silent for a moment too long, the words stuck in their throat. sira knows what’s coming and does them a favor by saying that the spark between them was dying anyways, and that she hopes they enjoy their new life outside of yunhwa.

life is slow in yunhwa, and yet she feels the caramel escaping through the cracks in her fingers, dripping, depleting. she’s shaken more by the breakup than she’s willing to admit but continues her diligent work at the inn. she has a sudden and intense urge to renovate the place, bring in fresh ideas, new furniture, fun events to entice people in. and it works; business picks up significantly, with both tourists and long term visitors renting out rooms. and then she’s at mokjawon with her best friend, and there’s a brief flicker of distress in their eyes, one that only sira, knowing them all too well, could decipher without a word. she downs the rest of the beer in her stein and just looks at them with a sad smile. everyone leaves, and sira is the only one to stay. but that’s fine. one day, she’ll make this town so great that everyone will be begging to come back home.

(requirements: yunhwa native) status: open the ex. you started dating sometime in secondary school, you even made it all the way through the years of university, committed and loving. then you received a job offer too good to pass up in a city far away from yunhwa, so she broke up with you and said it was for the best. wine status: open the drinking buddy. things can get pretty stressful managing an inn all by herself, so sira enjoys visiting mokjawon tavern to let loose every once in a while. and of course, she never does so alone. they’re one of the few people who knows her more hidden thoughts and insecurities.

inked words in a piece of parchment were all it took to turn her life around.

one day, she held a crown over her head, titles of excellence under her arm and an engagement ring around her finger. inna was the oldest daughter, the next in line, the one that was meant to achieve greatness first between the three siblings and set the example for them. 

having the kwon surname was a synonym of high expectations and never did she fall short of any of them. inna was an exemplary woman, hard working and, most importantly, one that rarely voiced her opinions.

nonetheless, the day she came across a letter addressed directly to her was the day she started questioning who she really was.

sometimes, the protection that comes within hiding the truth is much needed to keep someone blissfully unaware of the reality; to keep them from unnecessary pain. inna doesn't blame her parents for sheltering her, but she does hold it against them for underestimating her and not telling her she was adopted sooner.

the letter was short and the sender's penmanship was gorgeous, clear, easy to read... and one that was completely strange to her. yet, she claimed to be her biological mother and promises of some answers came within a will, one that conceded her the ownership of a property and a teahouse, both allocated in yunhwa.

after several days of contemplation, arguments between her and her mother and research about a town she's never heard of before, inna made a decision. one motivated by the final straw that came in the shape of a selfish partner whose only real interest was to have the perfect trophy wife. packing her whole life into cardboard boxes and several suitcases isn't nearly as difficult as she first expected and so she leaves without looking back.

saying goodbye to seoul leaves a bittersweet taste as she drives five hours to yunhwa, only stopping when arriving at the address on the will. the woman spent almost an hour observing the front of the rather old house and it was clear that no one had habited it for months; overgrown plants on the small garden at the front, dust collecting on the windows... and the unknown behind its closed door. 

she had no idea of what to expect, of what she going to find. it’s deeply scares her, the truth has never been an easy thing to swallow and she second guesses her plans when someone, apparently her mother’s acquaintance, stops by and the first thing they tell her is "you have her eyes."

that’s all it takes for inna to make up her mind.

someone her mother helped out a lot / almost took in as a son/daughter? they basically were really close to inna’s mother and probably know a whole lot about her compared to inna. this could either go the good way: inna appreciated the stories, or the bad way: her absolutely loathing that someone got to experience that when she couldn’t. this is up to discussion and honestly can be taken by more than one. 

note: her biological mother became a really important part of yunhwa’s community so it’s likely that most townspeople know her and this could be used connections !

chess partner(s): this is a hobby she enjoys a lot but hasn’t been able to find a decent partner to play with since she arrived. still, she’s stubborn enough to find one even if she needs to teach them herself.

a lifelong regular at the teahouse: they’ve been in yunhwa forever and have always gone to the teahouse on the same day at the same time. being a regular normally means that the order had been long memorised, but not in inna’s case: she’s been treating you like a stranger (because you are) and hasn’t been able to remember neither your name or your order, constantly messing it up.

two a.m. drives to busan (or anywhere): some nights, inna likes to spice things a little for a chance and the tavern doesn’t always offer the drinks she usually has so she drives to busan (or any other town nearby) to get different food or her favorite drinks. one night you come along and it’s admittedly quite a night.

hwesakgu neighbour #1: even though her mother’s vinyl collection was large enough, she’s been adding some vinyls of her own (yes, rock. but also yes, some classical as well). you knock on her door and she’s actually surprised you didn’t do so earlier as she was simply trying to push the boundaries by blatantly playing her music loud at night and seeing who’s the first to complain. you can tell by the little smile she’s showing you.

hwesakgu neighbour #2: she always comes to you when something is not working in her house and who’s doing the renovations doesn’t answer the phone (can’t blame them, it usually happens in the weekend or at night). the first time, was understandable. the second time, it made sense. but the third time, you could tell she was just enjoying the company and the small talk you exchanged with her. (she needs more friends, please.)

the secret journal: she writes. a lot. but does it the old fashioned way by using pen and paper. one day she was writing a little drabble on a couple she saw at the market while sitting at a bench. something distracted her and caused her to leave it behind. when realising this, inna came back and luckily found it in the same spot, but there wasn’t something off. someone had written a note. usually, she’d frown upon the privacy breach, but the note had her smiling. along the way, it became their habit to talk through the journal, leaving it in places only they know about.

          ━━━━━━━━━━━━  INSPIRATION & TW’s.  while creating saeyi, i took loose inspiration from the role of cassie howard in hbo’s series euphoria. while my muse isn’t an exact replica of her, she dons similar characteristics. that said, here’s a quick run — down of trigger warnings, particularly for slut-shaming, sexual topics, conservative beliefs, poor health / illness, underage drinking, and neglect.

          ━━━━━━━━━━━━  BACKGROUND & UPBRINGING.  saeyi comes from an upper — middle class, conservative family based in gangnam. her father’s an extremely respected man in the church, as well as a highly — adored pediatrician. growing up, she didn’t get to spend a lot of time with him as he poured all of himself into his faith and his work. mother was someone that she knew very well, though. a homemaker, saeyi’s mom was an active figure in her life, along with her older sister, jaeyi. they went to church every sunday, were taught strict manners and etiquette lessons, and overall, were held to a high standard. jaeyi did all of this with grace, but the same couldn’t be said about saeyi. she was a lot rougher around the edges and found it fun to bend, and break, the rules. though, as she entered middle school, it was discovered that her sister had a terrible illness that negatively effected her quality of life, and their mom and dad’s sole focus became her and her eventual recovery.

          feeling ostracized in her own home, saeyi sought out much — needed attention in other ways. though, she’d only truly succeeded in roping cute boys into doting on her and doing her homework. mom had always told her that being pretty was an asset, so she milked it a lot. in high school was when things started to get a little more severe, though. she started hanging out with the wrong crowd and turned into a problem child in a variety of fashions: earned abysmal grades, was constantly reprimanded by school staff, she’d consume alcohol illegally, and had a lot of boyfriends. after awhile, her peers started to turn away from her, as well; calling her awful, misogynistic names. what’s said is that her “reputation” began to spread around church, too, and it eventually got around to her parents. furious and exhausted of her antics, they sent her to yunhwa to live with her grandparents. they had other problems to worry about, anyway.

          once again feeling abandoned in a sense, her misbehavior only continued in the much smaller town, but it’s started to slowly change ( emphasis on slowly ) now that she’s moved out on her own. at the moment, she’s still in yunhwa, but she’s only staying because it’s cheaper and she’s able to save more money. she plans on ditching it once she’s financially more secure.

          ━━━━━━━━━━━━  PERSONALITY PORTRAIT.  there’s a few little glimmers of what she’s like above, but if i were to continue talking about her personality, i’d say it’s pretty chaotic all things considered. she’s someone that loves attention; someone who loves compliments; someone who’s dramatic in all facets of her life. she likes to view her life as some sort of reality show where she’s needed to entertain the people around her. her parents didn’t care to “watch” her so to speak, so she finds her audience elsewhere. she’s impulsive, fiery — spirited, opinionated, and loyal if you’re on her good side. she cares a lot about her older sis, but can’t function in the presence of most of their family, so she stays away... and feels really guilty that, and about a lot of other things. for example, anyone would be considered “fortunate” to have been raised in a household like hers, you know. they never hurt for money, they were respected, they were set — up for success in all ways, so why didn’t she fit into any of that? it bothers her to this day. not to mention that she feels guilty for her sister being sick while she’s perfectly okay. it messes with her mind a bit, and she uses casual nights out with friends and boys, and drinking, and other things to just... shut off her brain and stop thinking for awhile. also, being that she’s only twenty, she’s bound to make mistakes and act like an asshole sometimes. she’s still learning who she is and what she wants to do with her life.

          ━━━━━━━━━━━━  SMALL PLOT IDEAS.  01. any old “wild” friends from seoul would be dope. when i say “wild,” i sort of mean what her parents would find wild. to her, “wild” has a totally different meaning. so, your muse doesn’t necessarily have to be as like, destructive as the “reckless” trope usually goes, if that makes sense. 02. she’s had a lot of bf’s and fwb’s, so a few of those would be great, too. at the moment, she hasn’t dated any other girls, and that may change in the future depending on development, but she’s definitely fooled around with them. 03. a current yunhwa — native best friend would be AMAAAZING. could be anything from opposites attracting one another or being twin souls, i’m down with wtv! 04. i’d also love some enemies for her, too. her personality isn’t going to jive well with everyone, so i’d love for some pettiness to ensue. was she rude to you at sura cuisine? do you find her really obnoxious and annoying sometimes? is she someone that you want nothing to do with, but somehow, you end up in situations together? gimme all of it, please! 05. i’d adore a super cute good influence for her, too. just someone who may give her the benefit of the doubt and show her kindness. it’d help her development a lot, to be honest. 06. to be honest, i’ll be making a formal plot page at some point soon, but i’m genuinely down for any and all ideas you may have for your muse, too. ♡
