Crystal, they even pixilated your pfp!!! What is happening?

So I've been stressed looking into this all day and my guess is it has to do with recent restrictions Tumblr has put in place to appease the Google Play Store? According to this blog post, the Android app now has extra filtration to "limit" sensitive content - and unfortunately it appears to be an imperfect system (staff confirms in the comments that posts are being run thru an "image classification model") because the comments are filled with many people saying many types of posts are being incorrectly flagged.

At the moment it doesn't look like there's anything I can do - I tried to report my blog as incorrectly flagged but it wouldn't go through because technically it's not marked as an adult blog! It only has that label on Android. On iOS, mobile browser and desktop, my blog and content remain unrestricted. Hopefully there is some course correction soon but with Tumblr (and especially the state of the site these days), there's no telling if that could come next week, next month or next year.

In the meantime, for my affected followers, the above blog post contains links to instructions on how to enable mature content for the time being if you wish to do so. However, I would never ask or advise anyone to change their curated settings and potentially expose themself to potentially offensive or triggering content just for the sake of viewing my content.

I'm not entirely sure if/how this development limits my dashboard exposure, so I suppose if you don't see me on your dash, you can still access and interact with my posts thru the mobile browser (and of course, the desktop site). And if I am showing up on your dash but my posts are labeled "mature", you can trust that it's another cute lil Tumblr mistake and you can safely click to view. I don't anticipate posting any actual adult content anytime soon but if I were going to, under the circumstances, I would put up a PSA post beforehand to let people know the advisory was actually going to be real this time.

And in the name of being overly cautious (or having an anxiety disorder, whatever), I have gone ahead and set up a backup blog just in case things go absolutely haywire and kindahoping4forever ends up lasting a little less than forever. (My bad for only "kinda hoping" for forever, I guess 🥁) You can bookmark/follow that account just in case or follow my tag, which I'll be sure to utilize in the event you need to find me again. 💙
