Minnesota Fats possibly has an Extended Ryu Number of 4, though there is some room for argument. If only the real Rudolf Wanderone is considered, then the best connection would require counting a televised pool competition. However, when considering the novel/movie character we get a much stronger link through the same exact person as the pool competition: Willie Mosconi.
Willie Mosconi cameos in the film adaptation of The Hustler as himself (he is credited and referred to as Willie in the movie).
Willie Mosconi appears alongside Liberace in What's My Line S14 Episode 1 and Liberace appears in Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff with Peter Griffin, who gives a Fortnite connection. So the chain would be:
Minnesota Fats (The Hustler / ABC's The Wide World of Sports)-> Willie Mosconi ->(What's My Line)-> Liberace ->(Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff)-> Peter Griffin ->(Fortnite)-> Ryu .
If we are only considering the real man and the Wide World of Sports connection is invalid then the next best connection would likely be through the Johnny Carson show, but I have not delved into what the exact number would be there.
Minnesota Fats from Minnesota Fats: Pool Legend for the Sega Genesis
Rudolf Wanderone a.k.a. Minnesota Fats does not have a Ryu Number.
#sorry if the formatting is weird i am doing this on my phone after discovering the Liberace connection and going mad#you can find a clip of it on YouTube and Liberace is the second panelist#there was a brief moment where i thought imdb was lying to me#and yeah the Liberace apperance in the family guy app is him they licensed his likeness and voice from his estate#as far as i can tell it was not a limited event but i did not dive too deep into it#if that connection is a problem next best one i know would be through the muppets adding 1 or 2 to get to a spiderman crossover#i did not dive too deep into sam the robot to figure out whether it would be 1 or 2 added#Wikipedia did consider the video game character to be the fictional Minnesota fats but its definitely meant to be the real guy#though there are some arguments to be made about whether the fictional character and real guy are the same#since originally Minesotta Fats was New York Fats and changed it to Minesotta after the Hustler was published#and the authors notes supposedly referred to the character as New York Fats and it was changed at some point down the line#so it is likely the character was at least based on Rudolph Wanderone#i still cant believe Willie's in that episode with Liberace. if the connection wasnt that direct i wouldn't be making this i think

I feel weird writing this big massive action crossover shounen-ish fanfic because the action / fighting is cool, but Iâm focusing more on the impact fighting the big bad has on these child protagonists, especially since they canât depend on adult characters (more or less). It becomes a bit more realistic (and I guess, âdark and edgyâ) to focus on not just physical aspects but mental aspects of their health affected.
I feel like itâs expected of me to write one of the characters dog-walking one of the big bad villains which is whatever, I like that too, but thatâs an individualistic sort of approach that goes against the theme I want to set with having bonds that prevent those big battles from happening in the first place (or at least, one person carrying the burden of fighting for everyone, while everyone else is cheering in the background and that is considered the team effort like, I really donât think a singular hero and his background posse of cheerleaders is team effort guysđ). Basically, those big bad fights arenât exactly a good thing. Itâs like cigarette smoking, cool to see but really not good to do.
This is a huge ramble when Iâm just saying expect your expectations to be subverted lol.
Like I do write for me, yes! But I donât share my fic for me, so itâs a bit weird like Iâm in the audience, having my own thoughts / ideas on how this fic will go, but then I turn around to see the rest of the audience expecting something entirely different.
#Like I am not really fandom-adjacent like that which is a weird way of saying I donât subscribe to a lot of the popular headcanons ascribed#I think most vigilante Deku fics are bad since his personality is so one-note that authors just use him as some dare-devilish self-insert#Apparently people hate Nene and thatâs really crazy to me sheâs really a refreshing protagonist#I like ATLA but I think it suffers from the creators trying to fit the story into the same western frames theyâre used to#Pokespe is good the first time you read it but then you reread it and then Itâs like this is garbage but itâs MY garbage#Dragonball . . . At least it has the excuse of initially being a comedy gag that evolves into something more shounen-y so whatevs#Also Iâm not white or straight or normal so that affects how I write these characters too#I feel like you guys expect canon 2! but with more cool characters#An overambitious crossover fic#I hope this doesnât sound like Iâm bitching itâs more of a comment and I will still write the fic regardless (Nov post date pls đđŸ)#Mi writing thoughts#my favs

Platonic Yandere!Batfam x Weird black neglected!reader
You're a little bit weirdâwell, not just a little bit, but you're normal compared to your "family," those weirdos running around in masked costumes beating up the mentally ill. At least you have hobbies that don't endanger the public, like spending your time on the Internet spreading misinformation and having online arguments. You enjoy Discord calls with your friends and trolling Discord mods. It's just too fun! Plus, with the Batcomputer, you can dox almost anyone in the country. You spend most of your time in your room; there's no need for family bonding when you have your anime husbands to keep you happy. You're like an enigma in the house; you only appear when your stomach growls and when you need a proper meal that doesn't contain Dr. Pepper and spicy chips that might burn your insides. Your interests go from niche to unknown fandomsâso small that the author lets your self-insert become an actual character. Trickets and buttons from all types of fandoms decorate your bag like a museum. Thank God for Bruce Wayne's money; you wouldn't have half the merch you have now. But at school, you're also unknownâjust the weird, geeky kids who hang out with other weird, geeky kids in your small circle of friends. You remember once you tried to invite Damian into the group because you knew he liked manga back when you were hopeful and naive. The little gremlin denied it and called them "childish." He literally reads shoujos, and this was the day you were going to introduce him to Cardcaptor Sakuraâthat little hater. But ever since then, you have kept your distance. Your brother Tim had the same interest; you tried to bond over My Hero, showing off a plush, only for him to tell you, "That show was mid," and it made you buckle to your knees. You tried to bond over books with Jason; he told you to read real books and that comics were for kids. You wanted to strangle his thick neck. Dick just didn't know anything about anythingâhe's too old. The girls just didn't care much. Barbara told you to grow up, and Stephanie gave you that. "Wow, that's really cool..." smile. You knew she didn't care, and Cass would rather train than hear you ramble about power ranger crossovers, but then again, how could you relate to them there superheros, And you're just one weirdo it makes you want to rip out your dreads and scream. You try so hard, but you're still an afterthought, just another body in the house and another mouth to feed. At least you can vent about it in your Discord servers or cry about while listening to vocaloid, maybe some Mitski for extra kick. But who were they anyway? You were way too cool for them, and they just don't understand your swagger. But maybe the people at the galas will appreciate your interests; then again, you'd rather not talk to old, rich, white people with laughs that cost 500,000 dollars and 20 cents.

okay hear me out. what if 'trevor herbert' is jonah magnus. what then.
all the tmagp-versions of tma characters we've seen can honestly, in my opinion, be feasible variations of their tma selves. yes, even gerry. he seems very different, but iirc in a qna it was stated that gerry's the sort of person who genuinely does believe in goodness and the like, it just got stamped out of him by growing up with mary and the fears. so in a universe where that wasn't the case, I can totally see him being cheerful and friendly.
trevor, on the other hand, feels fundamentally wrong. especially given his profession. all the tmagp-tma crossover characters (that we've met! I'm not counting the maybe-jon and maybe-martin because we don't even know if they're the same people!) have jobs that align with their tma selves. basira goes from being a cop to being a school administrator- both positions of authority/control. helen is still a swanky tory real estate agent. gerry is an artist, and it's mentioned he painted in tma as well. georgie does a podcast. gertrude has a mysterious past, and it's implied she was connected to the institute at some point.
but trevor goes from being a homeless monster hunter to.... a member of parliment who drives a bentley? there's no connection there. and he doesn't act like tma trevor in any way either! there's no dedication to hunting about him, even in the metaphorical sense. if anything, he "prefers a hands-off approach" as of episode 30. trevor herbert in tma was the polar opposite of that, one of the most 'hands on' characters in the series. but who else has a penchant for watching without interfering until something actually threatens his vision?
would it be too much of a stretch to posit that jonah, weakened from his institute's destruction, ends up posessing the first body he can get his hands on, steering this new alter ego towards a government position of authority, then to monitoring the OIAR, so similar yet so different from the institute he failed to preserve? what if, when he says gwendolyn bouchard has "quality", he's not just talking about her heritage? what if he's starting to look for his next mark?
anyways, I found an interesting little detail while rereading some transcripts. in the magnus protocol, the first mention of both (presumably) jonah magnus and trevor herbert, MP is in episode 27: driven. before that, they were not named, and trevor was referred to just as "the minister".
now that's a fun little coincidence as it is, but if we return to tma, we notice that trevor's first statement is in episode 10: vampire killer. and elias/jonah's first actual appearance (outside of jon referencing that he's his boss) is in episode 17: the boneturner's tale. 10 + 17 = 27.
WHICH COULD MEAN NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, one criticism of Deadpool and Wolverine, and a criticism to which I think there's some meat, is that they basically chucked the entirety of the supporting cast from the first two movies in order to shift focus onto Wade and Logan- which is especially egregious because a major part of the emotional thrust of the movie is Wade's unwillingness to abandon that supporting cast by transplanting into the MCU proper.
But what I find interesting about this, right, is that Wade getting shanghai-ed away from his normal supporting cast to go on a metatextual multiversal road-not-taken adventure would be a pretty standard 3-to-6-issue plot in an ongoing Deadpool comic. I can think of at least four times I've seen this done. And in the comics, any given member of the supporting cast not being on-panel this particular issue doesn't mean that the authors forgot about them, doesn't mean they aren't coming back at some point. That would be a ridiculous complaint. Infant-level object permanence. It's different with a film, though, because in a film franchise, the wacky multiversal excursion constitutes a third of all extant content involving the character- you're genuinely losing out on the cast from the other two-thirds, it's zero-sum, and you never know who'll be available for the fourth movie or if there'll even be a fourth one.
I once saw someone (I forget who) make the argument that one of the issues with translating the marvel universe to the MCU is that most of the movies are depicting or adapting crisis-crossover-level shitshows and status-quo shakeups without similarly porting in all of the smaller-scale status-quo-compliant adventures that serve as connective tissue between the big shakeups and give them actual weight. This leads to some ambiguity as to whether these films are depicting the only interesting things that ever happen to these heroes, or if there's a wealth of unseen smaller-scale villains being fought in the space between installments that just never come up. And here we get a film that's an adaptation of that exact kind of connective-tissue adventure, and suddenly, uh oh! It's actually kinda fighting for space with every other kind of story you could tell in the same runtime. I don't think I'm describing a real problem here, It still can handily justify itself, but that question wouldn't even come up if it were a comic. A tension inherent to adapting any character and supporting cast native to the sprawl of big-two cape comics (despite the movie in many ways being about that tension!)

Dead Boy Detectives: Fic Recs
My latest hyperfixation is Dead Boy Detectives, so oc I've been reading and commenting on a ton of fic. And it's been really nice because the response of the authors has been so warm. I don't think I've ever gotten so many replies so quickly! Also, the fandom has inspired me to actually start writing again for the first time in two years and I've got a great idea for a fanvid. (Any tips on how to make one would be appreciated! đ
)
So in tribute to the lovely fandom, here's a fic rec post (nearly all payneland):
in this city there's a thousand things I want to say to you by laiqualaurelote
Edwin has a sexual awakening and it blows Charles' mind. And other things. Very funny and well written. Also features minor Edwin/Cat King and Edwardian flirting.
I also highly recommend the saviour of the broken, the beaten, and the damned by the same author, which is a kind of multiverse!Edwin fic? Featuring Edwin dying? And Niko time travelling? Trying to save time? Anyway, interesting to see Edwin alive, ageing and in different periods of time/his life.
For the First Time Twice by LikeMmmCookies
Amnesia fic! Charles loses his memories and thinks he and Edwin are married. Very cute (tandem bike date!) and well written, though Edwin's point of view still manages to be angsty. Also, the yearning is off the charts and the most recent chapter turned up the heat.
I guess you're stuck with me by Punny_Puck
AU in which Edwin and Charles actually got married pre-show. Funny, cute with a sweet marriage proposal prequel. Instant comfort fic.
Dance the Night by Gruoch
The gang are hunting an energy-sucking vampire that targets beautiful people, so naturally Edwin MUST disguise himself as the hottest girl in London. This one starts out fun and campy then takes a hard left turn into Serious Business. Prepare yourself for emotional moments, worldbuilding and some really excellent horror.
Long Past Time by sanctuary_for_all
Charles proposes to Edwin post canon. It's a short and sweet established relationship fic with some cool worldbuilding about ghosts and their ability to shape their clothing/appearances.
lay my hands on heaven by Opossum_Subatomic
I had to include a PWP and this is a great one. Extremely well written, in character and romantic. And explicit, obviously.
Data Points by Asidian
Edwin learns to cuddle. It's a production and completely adorable. I love a fic that explores the difference between the boys' physicality and this one's really on point. The writing and characterisation are great and it's nice to see Edwin taking care of Charles.
I also recommend Lanterns In the Dark, which sets the scene for Charles and Edwin's first meeting with some gut-wrenching details about Charles' homelife and Edwin's escape from Hell.
When I Was a Young Boy by flowerbritts
A Good Omens crossover and AU in which Aziraphale is Edwin's adopted father. Family reunions and revelations abound. Also, Edwin gets to be a teenager and slam doors while shouting, as he deserves.
The author has also written Wait, I'm Coming Too, which is a very sweet post canon 'Charles Worries About Edwin and Realises His Feelings' fic inspired by that 'Edwin reading Heartstopper' fanart. Both fics deserve more love!
A Slight Miscalculation by kantigone
Idiots in Love and Didn't Know They Were Dating. Crystal and Niko are the real MVPs, for real. A treat.
Terrible at Keeping Secrets (5+1) by ASingularSadSoggyPringle
Interesting demon!Edwin AU. Charles is a precious cupcake in this fic and Edwin is mostly the same with some Darker moments. I loved the concept and the author adds in some great, creepy details.
somaesthesia by perexcri
Edwin's journey from being touch-averse to touch-starved... at least when it comes to Charles. Palmistry is involved. I loved Edwin's characterisation and the unresolved sexual/romantic tension was on point.
And possibly I like the thrill (of under me you quite so new) by Leandra
Edwin explores his sexuality and re-negotiates his relationship with Charles. Meanwhile, the gang take on the case of a ghost who wants them to matchmake his still-living lover. Crosses over with The Sandman. And Edwin gets to be confident and flirty as a treat.
Always by How You Doing (FancyMeetingYouHere)
Hurt/Comfort fic in which Edwin has a traumatic flashback to the doll-head demon spider and Charles looks after him. Charles reading Good Omens to Edwin is a nice, meta touch.
Made You Look by Baby_Spinach
The agency are hunting an incubus that decides to take on Edwin's appearance. A repression explosion ensues. Fun fic.
Shape Me by dearheartdont
This one's actually a character study of Charles and his mixed race Indian heritage (so no Edwin) and it's so well done. It's also part of a series in progress about Charles growing up in the 80s with all the racism and homophobia that that entails. I look forward to seeing where it goes.
The Most Tender Place In My Heart by coloursflyaway
Edwin shares memories of how he fell in love with Charles, who figures out his own feelings in the process. It's super sweet and involves fun pre-show flashbacks and defintely deserves more attention!
I also loved Won't Fear Love by the same author, in which Charles takes Edwin out on dates and breaks the cuteness scales. And shout out to Good Enough which is the first fic I bookmarked for this fandom! đ„ł
Anyway, thank you to all these amazing writers for making this fandom so special! đ„°

Infinite Realms: A Danny Phantom Remix Event
Have you ever read an amazing fic and wanted to have a go at it yourself, but felt too shy or like youâd be doing something wrong? Have you ever seen the Two Cakes comic and wistfully remembered a oneshot someone wrote that you wish you could continue? Do you want to show an author you love their work to the point of your own creation, but you donât know how to make fanart?
This is your opportunity to give something new a try!
What is a fanfiction remix?
When you remix a fanfiction, you write a piece based directly off the fic. There are many ways to do this, and the ones accepted in this event are as follows.
POV Flip - Retelling the same events from a different character's point of view.
Role Reversal - Swapping the roles of two key characters. An example would be remixing a fic where Valerie hunts Danny, by turning Valerie into the hunted and Danny into the hunter in your version.
Sequel/Prequel - The events leading up to or following the fic. This should overlap with either the first or last scene of the original.
Genre Change - Changing the fic to a different genre. An example could be changing a modern day canon setting to medieval fantasy or to a space opera.
For Want of a Nail - One small detail at the beginning of fic is changed, causing things to happen differently.
One Crucial Detail - Focus on what you think is the most important detail of the fic for a characterâs point of view, and let everything else fall away.
Guidelines
For this event, we will be doing gen fics only. This is to create a space where everyone can enjoy the pieces regardless of shipping preferences. Potential future iterations of this event may include a shipping option.
Other types of remixes are okay if the author of the oneshot specifies that in their fic description.
Three things cannot be changed - who the characters are, the basic setting, and the basic plot.
Please keep your pieces rated T and under, and use all appropriate trigger warnings.
No direct plagiarism - you need to write things in your own words for the fic to be included in the collection. Itâs okay to quote some dialogue or a key sentence or two, especially if youâre writing overlapping scenes, but your fic should mostly be your own words.
In the spirit of the event, crossovers should be avoided unless the author specifically states on their fic that they would be okay with them. In future years we may introduce a crossover category, but for now, avoiding crossovers makes your pieces more accessible to everyone in the fandom.
This event is specifically for writers. However, if artists wish to participate, then they can also feel free to do so.Â
Timeline
January 5th to 12th - Initial Author Sign Ups
Please note that Iâm hoping for 10 to 12 initial authors, so that there will be a decent selection of one shots for remixing during February.
This is first come first served, but even if allocations are exhausted, thatâs okay! You can still participate in writing remixes in February for this event, and thereâs no reason you canât write your own oneshot anyway and tag it that remixes are welcome anytime.
January 13th to 26th - Initial Oneshot Writing Time
The 10 to 12 initial authors will write their oneshots. These pieces should be:
1k to 3k words long
A new or recent oneshot written for Danny Phantom
Rated T and under, and use all appropriate trigger warnings
Gen fics only
January 27th to 30th - Final Review
This is time for last minute questions, beta reading, and formatting for initial authors.
January 31st to February 1st - Initial Oneshots Posted
All of the initial oneshots will be posted, and listed in a masterlist on the infiniterealms tumblr blog with summaries and any author preferences.
February 1st to 28th - Writing Time!
Everyone is welcome to participate! This is not a contest this time, itâs just a celebration of shared interests and a different way of engaging with fic.
Posting instructions will be released on February 1st.
There is no limit to how many pieces anyone writes.
There are no word count restrictions.
All pieces should follow the event guidelines in order to be reblogged on the infiniterealms tumblr or included in the ao3 collection.
February 28th - Last Day to Post!
Last official posting day for your remix fics.
Looking forwards to seeing what you all come up with!
Event organised by @lexiepiper Icon by the very talented @jackdaw-sprite

i'm sorry y'all but i just CANNOT take 'uhm why didn't the justice league step in at amity park' seriously as a complaint when the answer is,,,,, that it's because,,,, they literally just aren't from the same media,,,,,
like i'm sorry. you built the crossover. YOU are the one that had the power to make them step in. YOU as the AUTHOR are responsible for patching that plot hole. this is a part of the process of developing a crossover, is keeping the justice league in-character as you explain why danny phantom still happened.
i mean, i can sort of see the appeal of this complaint as a jumping-off point, and i think it's totally fine as a concept. perfectly serviceable premise. but i keep running into this expectation that danny just HAS to be mad at the justice league for never helping him with the garbage fire that is amity park. a lot of the dpxdc fandom has a weird chip in their shoulder about this where there's like, genuine outrage about it, and it becomes a key part of the justice league's characterization for some reason
and i'm just. not. the justice league didn't help danny because they don't exist in the danny phantom universe. sorry. i don't care about this plot hole

Philon Awards 2025: Nominations Phase opens on 1 June
KiScon is honoured to once again host the Philon Awards. Originally established by Jenna Sinclair and Shelley Butler in 1997, this annual event's purpose is to honour outstanding authors and artists in K/S fandom.
Important Philon dates: Nominations: 1 June â 31Â July, 2025. Voting: 10 August â 10 October, 2025. Eligibility (works created & published): 1 September 2024 â 31Â July 2025.
There are 11 categories: Ficlet (word count under 1K) Short fic (word count 1Kâ5K) Medium-length fic (word count 5Kâ10K) Long fic (word count 10Kâ20K) Novella (word count 20Kâ50K) Novel (word count over 50K) Podfic Traditional Art Digital Art Poetry Zines For each category the voters will determine a Gold (first place) and a Silver (second place) winner.
Rules: Nominating and Voting:
Nominations are open from 1 June to 31Â July, 2025. Each fan can nominate up to 3 works per category, but you cannot nominate the same work twice.
For a work to make it onto the voting ballot, it needs at least 3 nominations. Before we add it to the ballot, we will get in touch with the creator to ask whether they are fine with this!Â
Voting is open from 10 August to 10 October, 2025.
The winners will be announced during KiScon 2025. Each winner will receive a certificate and a small prize.
It bears repeating:Â One person â> one submission of the nominations form. Same for voting: one person â> one submission of the voting ballot. Please do not attempt to game the system by using multiple accounts; we see this and it makes us question the future of the Philon Awards.
Nominating and voting both take place via Google Forms, and you need to be logged in and enter either your AO3 or your Discord name on the form in order to submit the nominations; this ensures that people do not nominate or vote multiple times for the same work. If we suspect sockpuppet activity, we will get in touch for clarification. We keep the nomination and voting process completely confidential! Only the KiScon concom will see the submitted forms.
While *we* won't talk about who nominated what, *you* can still discuss your faves and promote them, if you feel comfortable doing so. Making fellow fans aware of great works and sharing why you love and want to nominate them, is encouraged.
You can submit the nominations form only once, but you can edit your response if you need to add or change something (just follow the link in the email you receive after submitting the form). Please make sure to include every fanwork you want to see on the shortlist. You cannot edit your responses after nominations have closed (31 July 2025, end of day, timezone: Anywhere on Earth, i.e. UTC -12).
To answer a question we receive frequently: yes, you *can* nominate (and vote for) your own work(s). We won't judge you. ;-)Â
Fanworks:
The work must focus on the pairing Kirk/Spock or Kirk & Spock. Slash (romantic and/or sexual relationship) and gen (friendship) are equally eligible. If a fic includes Kirk and/or Spock in relationships with other characters, be they canonical or original, this does not disqualify the work for the Philon Awards, as long as the focus is clearly on Kirk and Spock's relationship.Â
Art must feature Kirk or Spock or both of them; additional characters in the artwork are allowed, but no depiction of Kirk/Other or Spock/Other.
All universes are welcome: TOS (series and movies), TAS, and reboot, Discovery and Strange New Worlds. AUs and mirror universe are equally allowed. Crossovers between different Trek franchises or between Trek and other media are permitted, as long as Kirk and Spock are the work's main characters.
RPF works (e.g. Shatnoy) are not eligible.
All ratings and genres are allowed. If a work among your nominations includes strong elements that would merit a warning on the AO3 (e.g. rape, major character death etc.), we'd appreciate a heads-up on the nominations form, so that we can make sure to include the warning on the shortlist.Â
The work must be complete. It can be part of a series, but the work itself must not be a WIP (missing chapters or a draft/unfinished sketch).
Eligibility: The work must have been created and published (print or online) after last year's nomination period. So, everything from 1 September 2024 onwards until the end of the current nomination phase (31 July 2025) is eligible. Reprints or uploads of earlier works (e.g. a fic you wrote and published a few years ago and uploaded to the AO3 only recently) cannot take part in this contest. If a multi-chapter fic was started earlier, but the date of completion falls within the eligible range, then it can also be nominated.
For podfic the creation/publication date of the actual podfic counts, not of the written fic that inspired it.
AI-generated works are NOT allowed.
Traditional art means that it was hand-drawn or hand-painted; scanning or photographing the finished work in order to publish it online is allowed, of course.
With digital art, we mean art that was created by a fan artist directly on a tablet or computer, or art that started out as hand-drawn and underwent significant digital alterations in the next steps. We do NOT allow AI-generated art! Manips based on still images or photos of the actors are not eligible in this contest.
Zines: Both e-zines and print zines published between 1 September 2024 and 31Â July 2025 are eligible.
Last but not least: these awards are meant to be fun and a celebration of the K/S fandom. The shortlist will double as lovely rec list! We get to talk about our faves and let the creators know that we love their works. You can fill in the nominations form embedded on the KiScon website, or directly access it at this link.

Can I request? Can you do the Hulian x m!reader like, m!reader act like Bill cipher from gravity Falls like he always cause some chaos 'for fun' and making deal to random person? And of course Hulian is there to stop them as always they do also can they react if they descover what m!reader do on the gravity Falls in pass?
I hope you can do my request, I I really love your one shot story! Very very much (âÂŽâĄ`â) That's all Thank you! âš
Sure! Love the crossover, always looking forward to crossover requests when I get them! đ they also added smut, so i'll try as I kinda want to start doing it but this will be my first time trying to do smut so i'm sorry if it's bad đ
.
Warning: noob author, male reader, and others.
Characters: hua cheng and xie lian.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
you are the spouse and husband to xie lian and hua cheng, having been with them since xie lian was still crown prince of xie le.
You were a chaotic being that has been alive for a long time and so you know all sorts of things especially cause of your powers. You werenât originally from this universe/time as after you were defeated from being tricked by sixerâs twin brother.
(You didnât mention if the reader was apart of their world or not and since you mentioned gravity falls I assumed that means the reader stays a dream demon and so I came up with the idea of having the two fandoms be kinda separate as you can see so hope thatâs alright!.)
You like to make deals with people who were gullible to fall for them especially to entertain you while you search for xie lian after losing him at some point, you also used those deals to try and find him but ended up with nothing as xie lianâs luck helped in not letting you find him surprisingly.
Finally you had found him after 800 years of searching and gaining information, you also noticed what seems to be a familiar person and after reading his mind you found out he was the little kid you always saw around xie lian back in the day.
After a few adventures you three married and began a poly-relationship, that still didnât stop you from making deals with unsuspecting humans, gods, and ghosts though you did have to dial it back as xie lian wants to make sure you donât get in trouble and such. You told them about the gravity falls and weirdmagadon that happened which had xie lian scold you especially after learning that you gave a child a screaming head as a joke.
When you three decide to go further in the relationship youâre usually the one being a brat that needs to be tamed. Youâd think youâd be tamed more by hua cheng but no it was xie lian who was the one that tame you anytime you three decided to have a little fun.
Though you three sometime team up with one another on different occasions and tease and love the one that was being the bottom that time, though you all give each other equal amounts of attention whether that be teasing or love it doesnât matter as you all get the same treatment.
(A/n: yea the smut part was kinda small, sorry about that đ
I just didnât know what to put for it since itâs my first time doing this, also I wonât fully be doing smut like I would if it was a normal request Iâll only be doing things Iâm comfortable with as thereâs some things I think I might be uncomfortable or just flat out didnât know about it until now so donât go sending smut requests as Iâm still testing it out on if I want to do it or not, also Iâll be busy for this week what with going somewhere for the first time and so I probably wonât be able to get to do requests a whole lot until I return this coming weekend on the 11th so you can still send requests just expect them to be not worked on for a bit! Anyway I believe thatâs it so I hope yall have a wonderful day/evening/night!
Series Masterlist
Pairing: Vampire! Toreador! Leon Kennedy x Fem! Reader
Summary: At the all-night events cafe you run, youâve become acquainted with an elusive patron, Leon, though you can never remember the last moments of your interactions together. After a harrowing encounter, a love-hate relationship develops between the two of you as you grapple with your newfound status in a world of darkness and investigate the reasons behind the untimely attacks.
Content & Warnings: 18+ Resident Evil x Vampire: The Masquerade crossover, horror, mystery, romance, slow burn, strangers to enemies to lovers, angst, fluff, eventual smut, swearing, smoking, alcohol, drug references, non consensual blood drinking, blood bond, vampire turning, violence, injury, mild gore, torture, religious themes, minor character death, RE ensemble, VtM concepts.
Author's Note: Super excited for this crossover series! Iâll try to keep a regular update schedule on Wednesdays. I might take some liberties with VtM lore and mechanics to fit the story, but hope to stay as true as I can to the source material. Finally, I imagined RE2R Leon (my favorite!) in this role đ«¶
Chapter 1: RC By Night
You first saw him in summer, when the days were long and the nights were short, and the streets came to life again. There was the heady smell of pollen in the air and the humidity was sweltering. Just a couple of months after you and a bunch of idealistic friends from your theater school days had taken the plunge, and opened an all-night cafe in one of the cheaper, grittier areas of town, east of the river of Raccoon City.
It had been a scrappy little project, one you didnât expect to receive a cult following and gain in popularity amongst the intellectuals and counterculture crowd. But then again, there was also the City College nearby and the events program youâd lined up each week drew them in. From comedy nights and disco fevers to site-specific and performance art, you knew what people liked and how they wanted to be entertained. A bit of kitsch, a sprinkle of avant-garde and a generous dose of unpretentious social drinking. It pulled him in too.
Him. You didnât even know his name. The first thing you had noticed were his striking blue eyes that seemed to glow from the shadows of the dimly lit space, peering out at you. Always observing, always watching, never speaking. Sometimes heâd glance over across the opposite end of the room at another pair of companions â a rugged, broad-shouldered man with a dark crew cut bumping shoulders with a younger, spunky redhead in a matching biker jacket. Theyâd exchange subtle looks of recognition and mild suspicion before returning to whatever they were doing. Though they never uttered a single word to each other.
He came back week after week, ordering the same drink each time, but never touching it. One Manhattan, please. You obliged. A waitress you had sent over to pry on your behalf told you he enjoyed the cocktail, but couldnât tolerate much alcohol. You saw him lift the drink to his nose, sniffing it as the corners of his mouth turned upwards, silently smiling to himself before he placed it back down on the table again. Strange. You shook your head and prepared a cup of black coffee, taking it over to him as his eyes lit up in surprise with your approach.
âOn the house,â you explained, plonking it down on the table. He raised an eyebrow but remained tight-lipped.
Maybe he didnât like coffee? Or how did he usually take it? âUhââ you turned back towards the service area, as if to check that the condiments were still in place. âWould you like some creamer or sugar to go with it?â
He raised his hand to indicate it wasnât necessary and his jaw clenched, before fixing it into an awkward smile. âThank you.â
Those were the first words he had spoken to you. It rolled off his tongue like a swirl of mist, a sliver of a dream you couldnât quite remember when waking up. You took another step forward to get a better look at him. He had a baby face, angelic almost, with that typical, boy next door charm your mom would have gushed at, and you imagined he couldnât be older than his early twenties. Upon closer inspection, he seemed slightly pale, faint dark circles around his eyes that had seen more than his fair share for his age. There was a sense of weariness and jadedness behind them that made him appear older than he was.
Bringing the cup to his lips, he sipped a small mouthful, letting it sit for a moment, before swallowing it down languidly. You admired the curve of his Adamâs apple, bobbing as the liquid poured down his throat, littered with freckles and specks of moles. Something about his very presence mesmerized you, even more so than earlier. It was hard to place a finger on what it was exactly, and why this feeling seemed to grow with every second you were lingering near him.
He pulled out a pack of cigarettes, tapping it on the table before offering one to you. Why not? You were a social smoker and took it as a sign to join him. In fact, there was no other place youâd rather be at the moment. You were confused, but did not question it as you took a seat beside him, noticing that he flinched each time he flicked open his lighter to ignite a flame.
His fingertips brushed across your wrist as he lit your cigarette, causing you to shiver in response, while his jaw tensed again, as if trying to rein something in. Licking his lips, he took a puff from his own, exhaling the smoke as it billowed around him and for a second you thought youâd lost him to a wall of fog. Both of you continued smoking in silence, checking in with each other through furtive glances, even though there was nothing to be ashamed about.
At some point, you followed the direction of his gaze and saw that same pair of companions he often regarded from the corner of his eye. They were frowning, giving him dirty looks as he shrugged nonchalantly in return.
âNot much of a talker, are you?â you broke through the thick stillness of the air that surrounded the both of you like a bubble, separated from the rest of the evening revelers.
âYouâre observant,â he teased, his eyes crinkling as he stubbed out the leftovers of his cigarette in the ashtray. You followed suit.
âSo, what brings you here?â you asked, gesturing to the suit attire sans tie that he was wearing. âDonât get me wrong, but this place doesnât exactly seem like the kind you types hang out at.â
âHm,â he huffed, though your question didnât phase him. âAnd what exactly is my type?â
âIâd say you were a yuppie,â you blurted out, your mouth rarely had a filter on these days. âBut I canât be sure, something about you seemsâŠâ
âOff?â he offered, smirking, yet his expression carried a hint of somberness.
âDifferent,â you corrected, but mumbled out a quick apology nonetheless soon after.
âDonât be,â he grazed your hand again as he adjusted himself in his chair, and you felt like he was doing this on purpose. âAt least youâre honest. Itâs a rare quality to find these days.â Though the way he said the last sentence sounded loaded with a double meaning.
âThese days?â you guffawed. âYouâre speaking like an old man.â
He joined in your laughter though that was the end of your conversation for that night. The rest of the evening went by in a blind haze, and you found yourself in a dazed state later on in the wee hours of the morning, still sitting at the same table, but your newfound friend gone without a trace. None of your colleagues had noticed a thing. You didnât even get his name, but you shook yourself, commanding your limbs to get back to business and clean up after the customers that had left.
The next time you saw him was when you were hosting the karaoke night of the month. Decked out in a shimmery mermaid glitter jumpsuit, hair tied up in pigtails and face caked with extravagant make up, you hopped onto the stage, only to nearly stumble on your flimsy heels when those piercing blue eyes landed on you from the all the way back. Of all the nights he could have dropped in, he chose this one.
You suppressed your embarrassment and warmed up the audience with a couple of well-placed jokes before kicking the event off with those who had registered to participate. It appeared to be a tough crowd as you only had a handful of sign ups, and would need to potentially seek out volunteers when they were done. You hoped the rackety sound system would hold up till then too.
Fortunately, when it came to the crunch â which it did â you always had an ace up your sleeve. âYou there,â you called out, pointing towards the back of the room. âYeah, blue eyes, you.â Crooking your finger, you beckoned him over, waiting in anticipation to see what he would do.
To your surprise, he bowed his head, accepting the challenge, before slowly weaving his way through the crowd, who were cheering him on with your prompting, towards the stage. He flashed you his pearly whites as he climbed up the short stairs, his floppy bangs bouncing with each step. For a moment, you thought you caught something feral in his gaze, but it dissipated when he reached out for the mic from you, his hands sweeping over yours with an electric touch.
You were in awe of him, like almost everyone else in the cafe, when he broke out in a rich tenor voice, effortlessly floating through the notes of the gentle melody, that you felt as though you were being wrapped in a serene, velvet cocoon. Enthusiastic claps and hoots filled the space when he finished. The only two people in the room who were scowling were the same pair of companions he knew from before.
âWill you join me after the show?â he whispered in your ear as he handed you back the mic. Nodding was the only appropriate response.
You were rushed off your feet for the next couple of hours and it was late by the time you called the event to a close, but he was still there, by his usual table, waiting patiently for you.
âSo you decided to push me into the spotlight,â he accused with a wry smile.
âDonât pretend you didnât enjoy it,â you shot back. âHere.â You set a cup of black coffee down in front of him. âMy treat.â
âYouâre too kind.â It sounded flat, like a game that had become routine between the two of you. He took a sip from it, nothing more, nothing less.
That was all you could recall from your conversation. You didnât get his name until a few nights after.
âHey, blue eyes,â you acknowledged as he strolled in.
âLeon,â he disclosed sharply. âItâs Leon.â
That was the night of exchanging introductions. You named all the nights youâd spent with him under various labels, so you wouldnât forget.
Another night, he had whipped out a flip phone and you nearly choked on your drink. âThey still make those?â You stared in disbelief.
He turned to face you in amusement.
âBet you donât have aââ
You didnât even need to finish your sentence for him to fish out his pager, dangling it in front of you like a toy.
âFuck off,â you laughed. âNo fucking way.â
He grinned at your outburst and it was one of those times, few and far between, where you experienced a glimpse of that youthful energy he often hid behind a calm, matured facade.
âYouâre still living in the 90s dude?â you jested, grabbing the pager as you flipped it over, trying to determine if it was real. It was.
His lips curled up into a playful smirk. âSomething like that.â
âHealthcare,â you guessed, squinting at him. âI heard people there still have them. Youâre a doctor?â
âI wish.â He coughed out a self-deprecating laugh, before rummaging through his wallet for a sleek white card, sliding over to you. âP.I., actually.â
âPrivate Investigator Leon S. Kennedy,â you read the title out loud, deliberately emphasizing each word.
âGo ahead, shout it from the rooftops,â he joked.
âDonât tempt me.â You gave what you hoped was a cheeky wink, not flirty, definitely not flirty.
A lopsided smile spread across his face, and you wondered if you were finally beginning to unravel the mystery of this man, one that he seemed to carry around like a burden.
âWell, now you know where to find me.â He winked back, taking a tiny sip of his free coffee.
That was the night of P.I. Kennedy. Soon, these nights blurred into each other. You felt like you were getting a step closer, but yet you werenât. He always had you at an armâs length for some reason, even though he seemed to want more. Why did he keep coming back?
He also appeared to care about what you thought of him. At some point forth, he started dressing down, exchanging his usual formal attire for a shirt with no blazer, and his sleeves rolled up to his elbows. A fine gold chain necklace peeked out from underneath his top collar, which was left unbuttoned. âBetter like this?â he asked with no context. You had to pause and consider what he meant for a while before you understood.
âIf youâd like to fit in.â You shrugged indifferently. âBut I donât think you want to.â
âYou know me well,â he murmured fondly. The back of his fingers caressed the side of your neck, just under your jawline, along a pulse point. You closed your eyes and sighed. It felt sensitive and tender.
âAnd how well do you know me?â you asked.Â
There was no reply, but somehow you already knew the answer.
Another thing you were vaguely aware of was that you kept missing the tail end of your interactions with him. It was as though after a certain point in the night, you would come to, like waking up from a daydream, and he would have disappeared by then.
Your colleagues asked if you were seeing each other. Were you? You were only chatting, you surmised. Nothing had gone that far yet, at least from what you had gathered. But you liked him more than you wouldâve liked to admit.
He walked you home one night, and when you reached your doorstep, you were about to invite him in, but he interrupted you. âThereâs something I need to tell youâŠâ
Guilt clouded his eyes, unmistakable and heavy. But as he was about to say more, he held back, as if pulled by an invisible thread. Then, you felt yourself overcome with tiredness, but it was pleasant and comforting. âCan you help me to bed?â Your voice sounded far away.
All at once, you felt yourself being propped up under his arm and your weight shifting under your feet, until your head touched a feather-soft pillow. He draped a blanket over your unmoving body. âIâm sorry,â he whispered. âI never should haveââ Even in your state, you could tell it pained him.
âI wonât do it again, unless you let me.âÂ
That was the last you heard from him for a while.
âââââââââââ
Leon couldnât get enough of you. Believe him, he tried countless times, but it didnât work. From the moment he had set foot into that establishment, he had damned himself. He knew it when he spotted you and smelled your sanguine resonance from afar. It was the humor of your blood, and it was stronger and more consistent than he was used to. You were just so full of life, and enjoying it to the point where he was envious. You signified all the hopes and dreams that had been dashed spectacularly to the ground, ever since becoming⊠what he was now.
He had to have a taste of you. A little drop wouldnât hurt, would it? Heâd been taught ages ago, by Ada, his sire, that he needed people like you to survive. If one ignored their hunger for too long, things would get worse, so much worse, and not just for himself, but for everyone else around him. It was simply the lesser of two evils to feed, and heâd never actually killed anyone by doing so. Then, why did it feel so wrong? He had gotten good at pushing down these thoughts, until they were reduced to an inaudible hum at the back of his mind. Just like many other things, he learnt to compromise. But compromising meant that sometimes, heâd lose a piece of himself. If there was an equivalent of a soul within the monster he had become, then it was fragmented, and heâd never get back the ones that had dissolved into the ether, due to the bad decisions he had made. Like the ones he would soon make with you.
Taste. Taste was something he had acquired since young. In his human life, he always had an eye for detail, an eye for what fit, what worked, and what didnât. It certainly helped when he became a cold case detective with the police force, filled with unbridled potential, only to have that overturned, when he decided to chase after love instead of missing people and puzzle pieces. For years, he wouldâve done anything for her, only for it to amount to wasted time and regret when the inevitable boredom that came with time struck, and he was tossed aside over something exciting and new. Still, he knew a delicious vessel when he saw one. You were just meant to be a special curiosity that he could pass on to the older vampire for a favor or two. At least, that was what he told himself, when you took the initial bait and he beckoned you to stay through unnatural means. That was the first lie.
When he bit into you, he was met with a burst of color, vibrant shades of all kinds of red. The flavor saturated his mouth: sweet roses, his favorite kind, their scent carried on a gentle zephyr; warm light that enveloped him but didnât hurt; traces of nicotine coursing through your veins; and the familiar iron tang that gave it its kick. Your face, your voice, your very essence haunted him in that taste. He could see you like a will-o'-the-wisp performing on stage in one of your many plays across a lifetime, laughing with your friends in the back of a car speeding down the highway, crying into a pillow when you had your heart broken by your first love⊠How was this possible? Your memories came flooding through him and you were blissfully unaware of it all. He felt like a spy, listening in to all your secrets and desires, and his blatant invasion of your privacy disgusted him.
This was wrong. He shouldnât have gotten so close. He shouldâve heeded the warning glances the Redfield siblings were throwing his way. So, he tried his best to stay away, but like an addict, he kept crawling back, seeking you out like a dog with its tail between its legs. How could a mere mortal have such an effect on him? Did he taste this way to Ada when she turned him? He laughed sardonically. If only she could see him now, being so torn up over a woman he had just met.
He tried to erase you from his mind, but you were always meant to be something more. You reminded him of all the things he missed when he was living. You were the best he had ever tasted, but he didnât want to turn you over to her, not yet. After all, he could afford to enjoy you for just one more time. The second lie had spun its thick, dark webs throughout his head. Truth be told, he would never share you with anyone else.
The third lie came when he resolved to tell you what he really was. He couldnât keep going on like this and deceiving you, but his sireâs words bore down on him. âYou donât get attached to a vessel,â she scoffed. Wait, wasnât he one too at some point? Her contradictory words replayed in his ears like a broken record. In any case, he wasnât attached. He was being brave and honest, which was how he liked to think of himself. But when it came to the crunch outside your doorstep, he was a coward, finding himself unable to breach the rules of the Masquerade and gave in to his urges instead. It was then that he realized deep down, he was truly a despicable and hateful low-life.
Thump! He felt his body slam against a solid wall, as he entered a secluded alleyway round the corner from your apartment. A dull ache bloomed across his skin. After the events that had happened that night, he didnât even bother putting up a fight. He slumped down until the brawny, older male sibling, Chris, lifted him by his collar and pinned him in place. At the same time, the slender redhead, Claire, Chrisâ female counterpart, spoke, âWhere the hell are you going with this, Leon?â
âWhy do you care?â he spat, blood coating his teeth. âThe cafeâs in neutral ground, no oneâs claimed domain over it yet. I can feed on whoever I like.â
âListen, youâre Cam scum, but you saved my brother back then, and you used to hang with us,â she hissed, jabbing her finger into his shoulder to emphasize each point. âSo, Iâm gonna give you a tip, but just this once.â
She brought her mouth to his ear. âThereâs interest in the domain⊠and youâre not the only suitor vying for her attention.â
His eyes widened at the threat.
âWhatever you do, do it fast.â
Signups are Now Open!
It's time! We have over 400 relationships nominated, so it's now time to go through and see which ones you want to offer and which ones you'd like to receive!
Sign up here! Join the Discord (if you want, no pressure) Check out the rules for signups!
The main things to remember:
Nominations are not signups! Even if you nominated a bunch, if you don't sign up, you won't be matched with anyone. You can also participate if you didn't nominate anything!
You can put down 4-10 offers and 4-10 requests. Each offer and request needs to be from the same subfandom, but it can have more than one relationship in it.
You can put relationships you didn't nominate down! Maybe someone nominated it before you could, maybe you forgot, maybe it's something you would have never thought of but now love the idea. The tag belongs to no one - put it down!
Be sure to mention Do Not Wants in the optional details! If you mention it anywhere else - like in a dear critter letter - the author doesn't have to follow it.
Double check the tag set! It's real annoying to finish typing up all of your offers and requests, only to discover you put a relationship in the wrong category.
The tag set is here, but this year, we're also offering a google sheet with slicers with the main subfandoms, whether the relationship is romantic or platonic, and whether or not it involves more than one person. There's a lot of crossovers and characters that show up in multiple campaigns this year, so it seems like it might help people out.
Still feeling a little intimidated? You can always snoop on last year's signups to get a general feel of how people do things.
Happy signups! You've got until May 23rd at 11:55 PM eastern.
Hello! Do you have any advice on how to handle an inherently fictional facial difference (that was caused by a fictional reason and while may have some partial crossover/parallels with elements of real world FDs, ultimately is a fictional one and is specific to the world/lore) in a way that would not come off as harmful to real facial differences? I also have some characters with actual real life FDs in the story, but maybe there's something else I should consider?
Also, what is your opinion on fictional disabilities in general? Not when the story just has a vague disability that can't be strongly connected to anything specific from real life, but when author specifically develops a fictional condition/disability/chronic disease etc in context of/based on elements of their fictional world?
Hello!
A fictional facial difference has basically the same potential pitfalls as any other fictional disability. You can take a look at this post where we talked about what not to do, TLDR: make sure it's actually a fictional disability and not just one you haven't heard of yet and be mindful of what real conditions it could be reminiscent of (and avoid stereotypes accordingly).
It's good that you also have characters with actually existing disabilities, it honestly annoys me to no end when people boast about their "disability rep" while all they have is 20 different "magic character can't do magic" characters. So this is definitely a big plus.
The only thing you need to keep in mind is to not split the two (character with fictional FD vs characters with IRL FD) into separate categories, consciously or not. Don't treat the one with a made-up FD as better or as inherently prettier than "those other people". Ideally they're all just treated the same in the story since that's the only option that makes logical sense.
Also, it was mentioned already in the post I linked, but unless you have some very specific scenario you purposefully want to do and actually comment on, avoid making the cause of her FD either 1) result of her parents doing Evil Drugs or black magic or whatever or 2), contagious. Very little FDs have those origins, but many are stereotyped or downright accused of being such.
Other than that, think of the same stuff as you would with IRL facial differences existing in a story. How does society treat them? What is the acceptance level? Are the majority of people knowledgeable (a person can know exactly nothing about being disabled and still be kind and accepting; it's not exclusive)? Are FDs more common because medicine is less advanced?
For the last question; it depends. If it has symptoms that real people have, there are gonna be real people who will relate to it (if done well) and real people who might be offended by how it's portrayed (if done badly).
Let's say your setting has a magic toxic flower that causes lower limb paralysis and/or weakness after someone steps on it - that's fictional, but there are many real world disabilities that share similar symptoms, even if the cause is obviously very different. If this was the fictional disability, the characters who have it would probably share the same community as characters with SCI, neuropathy, MS, etc.; it's based in fantasy but it's easy to imagine that it could be real.
In this context you should be researching the symptoms - leg paralysis and weakness - and potential treatments - physical therapy, learning how to walk with orthoses/crutches, painkillers, etc. Real readers with real symptoms will be able to relate to this kind of fantasy disability.
But let's say the fictional disability mainly presents as chronic pain and muscle spasms caused by the person not using magic enough. This on the other hand, doesn't work as a (respectful) fantasy disability. The main "accusation" people with chronic pain get is that we are lazy and if we just did more of [usually exercise] we would be cured - it doesn't work like that, and it would be frankly offensive to make a whole illness where the chronic pain is caused by someone not waving their wand enough or whatever. No one will be relating to this because it's not based on how stuff works, it's based on a stereotype. "It's fantasy" isn't a get out of jail free card, you still have to be conscious of what you are implying.
As long as you do research and keep in mind which real things your fantasy disabilities resemble (e.g. Hansen's disease and ALS will have very different stereotypes attached to them) so you can avoid making a connection you don't want to make.
Hope this helps,
mod Sasza
Guess That Ship Tournament Season 13: Badly Describe Your Ship! Submissions CLOSED
The Concept: You "badly" describe your ship* to me, I pick out the submissions which I find most funny and compelling and pit them against each other without revealing who they are, people vote on them, and their identities gets revealed once theyâre eliminated.
Submission Guidelines
*For the purpose of this tournament, relationships do not have to be romantic in nature. (Iâm sometimes going to use âshipâ as a shorthand, just know I mean ârelationshipsâ in general.)
Relationship can be between any number of characters.
Real people are accepted if theyâve been dead for more than 100 years.
Roleplay characters are accepted as long as the description only pertains to the characters and not the players.
Crossover ships are only allowed if the crossover is official.
OCs are accepted. (However, OC x Canon is not accepted. Please do not submit other people's OCs without their permission.)
No overtly NSFW submissions. (Mentioning they have sex or are a sex worker is fine, but try to avoid anything more than that.)
Two submissions per person. (Do not submit the same ship twice. I cannot enforce this on Google Forms without forcing you to log in. So just be champs and respect this rule.)
Failure to follow these guidelines may result in all of your submissions being disqualified for this season.
Summary Guidelines
Selection Process: I will read through the list of descriptions submitted without reading their names and pick the most funny and compelling submissions. Then, I will check the name to make sure there's no repeats.
Bring something unique to the table. Make sure to describe their relationship, not just summarize the events of the story.
The description of a badly-described ship is ideally one or two sentences long. Descriptions should not exceed 100 words.
Descriptions should be based on canon, not headcanon. (e.g. You can say âthey love each otherâ instead of âtheyâre loversâ if their romantic nature is debatable.)
Avoid author commentary. (e.g. "They're canonically x," "I love them," "Play/watch/read this," etc.)
Use canonical pronouns.
Avoid identifying information or setting specific giveaways. (i.e. ninja village, space necromancers.)
When submitting OCs, please make sure to at least put a name somewhere. (e.g. "John and Bob by anonymous" or "OCs by Joey.")
The more popular your ship is the more vague the description should be.
I will be more lenient with submissions this season, given "badly" is subjective, but you should still keep these guidelines in mind when writing your summary.
Exclusions
Ships that were accepted in Season 7 onwards and ships that at least reached the semifinals in Season 1-6 are not allowed. For a complete list, please look here. (No need to look through the whole list, just Ctrl+F to find the ship you want.)
Any submissions from Harry Potter will also not be included.
Notes
I will not vet the ships/pairings for problematic content.
If you participate in this tournament, know that you run the risk of unintentionally voting for your nOTP. The mod does not take any responsibility for any distress that may cause you.
There will be a limit of one ship per media in the bracket. You may submit two ships from the same media, but keep in mind only one ship will be able to get in. (A series or franchise will generally count as one media, but they will be evaluated on a case by case basis.)
Submit your ships here! Submissions will be open until Sunday, October 6th at 9 PM EDT.
Please reblog this post to spread the word! The more submissions, the better!
Another Dead Boy Detectives Fic Rec List
Netflix sucks and I'm sad, but the Dead Boy Detectives fandom continues to be awesome, so here are some more very quick fic recs!*
Tonight's the Night You Fight Your Best Mate's Dad by Opossum_Subatomic
Everyone's Alive College/University 5+1 things fic featuring Charles bringing Edwin coffee and slowburn payneland. Also Family/Wedding Drama involving Everyone Thinks They're Dating so acute is verges on Fake Dating. This author is seriously fantastic, everything they write is gold.
You should also check out Kissing Lessons, which is a high school AU that does what it says on the tin while also giving non-binary Monty and polyamory.
Ornithology by Rosie447
Monty gets a job working at Tragic Mick's. This one's not actually payneland, being gen and Monty-centric. I know, gasp. It's a fantastic and very sweet exploration of Monty discovering his sense of self post canon and works as a great metaphor for recovery from toxic family/relationships. Also, the ex-animal solidarity and bonding with Mick is lovely.
what some circumstance stole by Chrome
The Sandman crossover featuring Edwin and Hob being kidnapped and tortured together. Their friendship is really wholesome with eventual Father Figure and Found Family Feels for the whole agency and background Dreamling.
dandelion wine (life and death in summertime) by world_wanderer
Payneland Right Person Wrong Time AU in which neither of them die but they still meet and become friends. The May/December friendship is sweet but tragic, with a bittersweet ending. Superb.
Mirror Image by Anonymous
Charles' afterlife gets taken over my an evil shape-shifting doppelganger, leaving him with plenty of time to regret never talking to Edwin about his feelings. Angsty but with Feelings Realisation and the Power of Love and Friendship vibes.
my healing needed more than time by babyseraphim
Case fic with de-aged Charles! Baby Charles is precious but be prepared for discussions of childhood trauma/abuse.
The same author has also written I'm So Aces at Babysitting, which is a really cute two-chaptered AU featuring Charles and Edwin babysitting the kid versions of each other, with bonus Crystal and Niko doing the same. It's very wholesome and the author writes little kids really well.
Pouring into me by tragedy_machine
Love me some "Charles wants to date Edwin to figure out his feelings but gets turned down" fic. Feelings are hard, OK?
thank u, next by KiaraSayre
Edwin fucks and Charles seethes. It's very funny and also features some interesting worldbuilding with the Fae.
Like We've Never Known Hurt by dearheartdont
Just cute established relationship PWP and praise kink. So good.
all of these hollows by handwrittenhello
The boys are alive again but sans memories. Can they still find each other and prove their devotion to the Night Nurse?? While also evading heavenly and hellish forces trying to keep them apart??? Very interesting concept executed well.
Suo GĂąn by emryses
The agency takes on the case of a traumatised Edwardian ghost searching for her missing baby... Read it for Edwin family feels.
Where Primroses Bloom by PantryJesus
Reading aloud as a love language and Watership Down feels. Idk, I'm now convinced that Edwin is kind of rabbit-coded with the whole "if they catch you they'll kill you. But first they must catch you" thing. A lovely well written fic.
I'm so sick of online love by Hse11z5
College/University AU where the boys meet through a dating app. It's cute.
you can have the best of me, baby (and I will give you anything) by aletterinthenameofsanity
Again, it's the Friends with Benefits but with real feelings and mutual pining for me. Now has a Charles PoV companion fic.
True Love's Kiss by Asidian
In which Charles curses himself with a Sleeping Beauty enchantment in order to confirm his feelings for Edwin and Crystal is the real MVP. I love this one because the boys are both SO stupid but in very different in-character ways.
I also recommend Promised, in which they kind of play the Green card angle to keep Edwin out of Hell? Which honestly needs to be more of a trope. And Tight Quarters, starring the boys trapped in a magic circle, leading to Forced Proximity induced Feelings Realization (in more ways than one! đ).
Something I Can Turn To by DontOffendTheBees
I love some domestic fluff, in this case as an Everyone's Alive/Childhood Friends AU in which the boys are poor but happy living together. I liked how they both survive their respective traumas, but Reality Ensues.
I also recommend Lived My Whole Life Before the First Light for a lovely but melancholy Soulmate AU that goes for the "seeing colours" trope for extra wistful angst.
Dining at the Ritz by TerresDeBrume
Meeting the Parents fic in which Edwin's parents are awful and Charles is Not Having It. This has Everyone Thinks They're Dating and autistic Edwin stimming representation, plus discussions of racism, classism and ableism. The fic is also part of a great Modern AU series in which the boys attended St Hilarion's at the same time and Charles saved Edwin from a non-supernatural but still almost deadly prank. Highly recommended!
The Case of the Couples Retreat by juliasfanart
Listen, I can't get enough of undercover fake dating/relationships at a couples retreat, OK? Some minor angst but overall very cute and fluffy.
acu (aysar cinematic universe) by ObsessedWithFandom
The agency is hired to solve the mystery of Charles' death and bring his killers to justice. I'm genuinely obsessed with this series; I love its OCs and Charles having an exboyfriend gives Edwin a fun crisis. Plus haunting Charles' killers is very satisfying and cathartic. Just imagine they're Netflix execs, y'all.
*Not actually quick, as it turns out. đ
I love doing these lists because I always think I've only got a few recs and then I look back over my recent bookmarks and I've got a metric ton of great fics to rec. You guys are so talented. â€ïž
PR & Matchmaking
Pairing- Callum Turner x OC! India Hayes
Summary- The flirtatious banter between two co-stars that are trying to make the most of their PR contract while also wondering if what theyâre felling is real or not.
Warnings- none
Authorâs Note- I havenât written anything on here in so long so please be easy one me guys. I just wanted to post something because itâs been a while and I felt like Callum Turner needed more love.
Word Count- 2,131
Lights were flashing like crazy and the people were going wild as they walked onto the carpet. Tonight was the premiere of Masters of The Air, a drama miniseries on Apple TV that explores the aerial wars of WWII through enlisted men of the Mighty Eighth Air Force.
At first, the red carpet was filled with the men from the show, some posing for the perfect shot while others did interviews to talk about the show. Though all were dapper as the cameras clicked and flashed to capture their noticeable charm. One of the stars, Callum Turner, was in the middle of answering a question after being asked what was his biggest takeaway from a show like this.
âI mean, itâs taught me a lot. More than I knew it would, which is always great. Working with such amazing people has to be the greatest takeawayâ.â The sound of his words were barely audible under the screams of the crowd. His face morphed into a shell of shock for only the briefest moment before he chuckled and turned his head to see what that commotion was about. His first assumption was that it was Austin and Barry offering tons of fanservice with their flirtatious banter.
But he couldnât have been more wrong.
He could hardly see through the flashing lights but he could discern one name through what the photographers were saying.
âIndia!â
âIndia, this way!â
Even though he wasnât facing the camera fully, it still caught the smile that graced his lips at the sound of the woman's name. From another angle, you could see him looking down the carpet at the girl in black, staring at her figure as she posed.
Realizing heâs still on camera and was in the middle of talking, Callum chuckled as she turned back to his interviewer. âSpeaking of amazingâ.â He laughed along with the guy, gesturing to the woman down the carpet.
âDid you guys and the Angels of War cast get to do any work together? Can we expect to see a crossover?â The man asked before holding his mic out to Callum. Said man pursed his lips, a mischievous glint in his eyes. âI canât say, you have to watch the show and see.â He joked.
Moments later, India was being asked her own set of questions.
âWeâve all seen Angels of War, we all loved it. It was great. But I must know what you think of Masters of the Air.â The woman asked her.
India smiled, prepared for her words to soon come bite her in the ass. âI loved it, it was so amazing and so detailed that you couldnât help but fall in love it.â India smiled, her southern accent strong on her tongue. âI felt so connected to the characters because of such great acting.â She offered a soft smile. âBut it was hard payinâ attention in some scenes because everyone was so sexy.â She laughed along with interviewer.
âRight! Iâm glad you said it before I did.â The woman with the mic spoke.
âYeah, but Iâm gonna watch anything with Callum Turner in it.â India winked with a small smirk on her lips. This caused the interviewer to make a sound of excitement, knowing she just got her clip of the week. India just smiled and laughed along, knowing she was working her PR arm a little too much. But she liked riling people up, itâs why she was so loved.
âI have to agree with you, I am the same way with Henry Cavil.â The woman chuckled. Her eyes moved a tad to catch a glimpse of a tall figure dressed in black behind Indiaâs shoulder. âAnd speaking of Callum Turner.â She beamed.
India turned her torso to see said man not too far from them walking somewhere along the outskirts of the red carpet, a few people straggling behind him. Seeing movement out of the corner of his eye, Callum glanced to his left to see India and the interviewer staring at him, the camera slightly angled his way. A large smile made its way onto his face as he walked closer.
âCallum!â India said excitedly, opening her arms in invitation. His eyes disappeared behind the folds on his cheeks as he moved to embrace the woman once he made it to her. She wrapped her arms his neck while his went to her waist. Her height and hills made it to where her head fit almost perfectly within the nook of his neck. As she moved back slightly to grab a hold of his jaw and place a firm kiss on his cheek, his hands traveled from her waist to her hips. His large hands almost sitting on top of her bottom. Since they werenât as close to the mic as they were before, the camera couldnât pick up on any of what was being said.
âDid you play it up before I got here?â India asked through a smile as she drug her hand from his face to his chest.
âWhy yes I did, darling.â He beamed down at the girl. âAnd I can see you are trying to upstage me.â He said before starting to rub his hands up and down the curve of her back. The tips of his middle fingers grazing one another as they traversed the span of her waist. India then made a dramatic sad face, her large eyes never leaving his. âOh, never that.â She cooed. âI am just trying to get us both paid.â She cheesed before turning around to finish her interview. Callum followed after her, keeping his hand around her waist.
âSorry about that. Speak of the devil and he shall appear and all that.â India said sarcastically, nodding her head over to the man behind her. The interviewer laughed, looking between the two. âItâs so good to now have you here with us, Callum, how are you?â She asked.
âIâm doing far better now that Iâve seen her.â The man smirked, glancing down at the woman on his arm as his hand moved from her hip to lying flat on her stomach. . India dramatically rolled her eyes at him, moving to place her hand on top of his. âHeâs so cheesy.â She said.
âOnly for the right price.â His voice said above her head. India burst into a fit of chuckles, angling her head to look up at the man without turning around. They shared a knowing look before going back to looking at the interviewer, who was red in the face from just watching their interactions.
âWell arenât you two quite the pair!â She exclaimed. âAre we going to be seeing your characters together any time soon? I think itâs time for Loretta to settle down.â She asked before holding out the mic.
âWell, first off, Loretta needs no man!â India said, sassily waving her finger, causing the others to chuckle. âShe probably would have liked one in a time such as then but needed one? No thank you.â She joked, although her words had a seemingly undertone due to the topic of her statement. âAnd secondly, youâll just have to wait and see. I wouldnât get my hopes up though.â She shrugged.
âWell, those are all the question I had for you, thank you two so much for being here!â She said excitedly.
âNo, thank you for having us.â India said before giving the woman a small hug, Callumâs hand moving to her waist as she moved. She then finished her hug and walked away with Callum on her hip.
âDo you think weâre laying it on thick?â India asked, looking up at him. Callum looked down at her, the lights reflecting of her big eyes. She had a black silk scarf on her head on the carpet, but it was no gone, along with her shades, to show her short cut. He brought his hand up to the back of her neck, playing with the small hairs there. âNo, I donât think so.â He said, his suave demeanor dropping in a second of comfortability with her. âAnd if so, isnât that kind of the point?â India didnât answer his rhetorical question, caught up in the feeling of his hands playing in her short hair.
âWe have the same haircut.â She said after a moment of silence, the two just staring at each other. Callumâs blue eyes twinkled in the light as he smiled at her. âYeah, we do.â
âAlthough I think mines a little better, maybe I can give you my barbers number?â He finished before walking away from her. Indiaâs mouth dropped but wasnât for long as she caught up to his long legs and hit him in the arms. âI cannot believe you said that. You know I look way better than you with his haircut.â She sassed, rolling her eyes at the man before walking faster than him. Callum smiled his eyes following her figure as she walked back to the red carpet, where her life long friend, Janelle, was gesturing her over on the carpet with the rest of the Angels of War cast.
India scurried over, her and Janelle standing in the middle with the other girls on the side, all posing for the camera. Callum stood off on the side, looking at them while the lights flashed behind him. His eyes were trained on India as she and Janelle exchanged words before bubbling into laughter.
After a while longer, India looked over and made eye contact with him. They both immediately smiled at each other, eyes showing nothing but pure affection. She then detached one of her arms from Janelle and beckoned him over. Callum slightly shook his head. Seeing his hesitation, her face became serious as she beckoned him over again, although her movements were a little harsher this time. He was about to reject the offer again before his shoulder jerked forward slightly. His glanced back to his Austin gesture his head over to the carpet before walking off and over to his girlfriend Janelle, although no one else knew that piece of information.
He followed after him, his eyes locked on India playfully stern ones, the rest Masters of the Air cast following behind him and Austin. Once he made it to her, her eyes softened as he slipped behind her. While they waited for everyone to settle into their places, she smiled up at him before leaning back a little, her back met his torso. Her head laid on his chest as she looked up at him with a big fake smile. Callum looked down at her, staring into the eyes he thought looked beautiful from any angle. Trapped within her gaze, he leaned down a little, the tip of his large nose brushing against her forehead as he sniffed her. India crunched her eyebrows at him before raising her head to look back at the cameras. She still had her back against him, although you couldnât tell unless you got a side angle.
âEnough of your flirting.â Austin piped up behind his smile as he glanced over at the pair dressed in all black.
âWhat, are we outshining the real couple?â Callum asked, smirking over at his friend.
âOutshine?â Austin asked. âOh, you donât even wanna know the things Iâd do if we were public.â He finished, his grip tightening on Janelleâs waist as he continued to pose for the pictures. Said womanâs face flushed as she laughed and glanced up at him. They looked at each other for the briefest of seconds before going back to their original poses.
âThis whole thing is so backwards.â India scoffed with a smirk on her face as the camera flicked to catch the moment between Austin and Janelle. Callum looked down at her and placed his hand on her hip, squeezing her fat as he sensed she was getting irritated. âOh, but you love it.â He said joked, his deep voice vibrating through the both of them. Although she didnât look up at him, India smiled at his words. âYeahâŠyou got me there.â She said, but couldnât decide whether she was serious or not.
Social media went into a complete frenzy over those two. Clips of their cute moments floating all around the internet, some âfakeâ, you could say and others more authentic. Stills of Callum staring at India so lovingly were all over her feed, almost sending their girl into a spiral from seeing her own face that much. Compilations of every time they interacted during the premiere had millions of views as everyone speculated what they were. People were talking about the pair for weeks, which is just what their management wanted.
