By far my least favorite antiHaydove argument is "but it's so weird/creepy of 40s-year-old Haymitch to still be in love with his teenage girlfriend!" Like, I don't know HOW you interpreted that epilogue, but you clearly did SOMETHING wrong!

Disliking Haydove because you're not a fan of how the ship/character was written, or because you think we don't have enough on-page interactions between them? I disagree, but at least that's a sound complaint to not enjoy a certain character or dynamic.

Disliking Haydove because you prefer another Haymitch ship? Well, I'm a multishipper, so that could never be me, but again, it is a pretty common thing that we see across all fandoms, so I won't argue as long as you're not trying to erase the epilogue or act like it's a retcon of the trilogy (or, if you DO do those things, that's fine too, as long as you acknowledge that your take is canon-divergent).

But the argument about it being weird that he's still in love with her is so...illogical, frankly. First of all, it's realistic, like it or not. Plenty of people who have lost loved ones wonder what the still-alive, older, version of them would look like in a better world. The lack of a future/present with someone can haunt you just as much (if not more than!) the past can haunt you, and that's what Haydove is. Haymitch imagines his girl aging with him, and he still feels her next to him after all of those years. He's not some creepy old man chasing after a teenager, he is a severely depressed man who never got over the grief and trauma of his girlfriend dying in his arms because of something he did (Obviously I know he didn't actually kill her and that it was all Snow, but, for argument's sake, that's how I'm gonna word it just for this post). I don't know if ANYONE could "move on" or "get over" that.

It is meant to beautifully tragic, heartbreaking, bittersweet, etc. It's obviously not a fluffy happily ever after. But it's also obviously not creepy or weird and it was not intended to be so. I was genuinely shocked when I saw some people interpreting it that way. I have to admit, "being offended that a loverboy is still in love with his girl even long after her death" absolutely wasn't on my fandom-reaction-to-sotr bingo card.

Uh, guys? Don't confuse your crappy televised fanfic for the story that Tolkien actually wrote.

Galadriel was never "under Sauron's thrall." That's something ROP made up. In Unfinished Tales, she was the only one in Eregion who suspected that Annatar was lying about being an emissary of the Valar. Celebrimbor was deceived by him. She was not. She was certainly not "under his thrall." No, not even because she had Nenya.

Yes, when Frodo offered her the One Ring, she was tempted. It could have given her the power to prevent the fading of Lothlórien. But when she makes this speech in the book, and in the Peter Jackson movies, it's her own thought, she's not repeating something that Sauron said to her once:

“You will give me the Ring freely! In place of the Dark Lord you will set up a Queen. And I shall not be dark, but beautiful and terrible as the Morning and the Night! Fair as the Sea and the Sun and the Snow upon the Mountain! Dreadful as the Storm and the Lightning! Stronger than the foundations of the earth. All shall love me and despair!”

These are Galadriel's words. Her words. Not Sauron's. And she was tempted by the One Ring because she could have been a more powerful queen, not Sauron's queen. Like, you guys really took one of the most powerful and complex female characters in Tolkien's works and you made her story all about a man and his power over her and his manipulation of her. Fuck off.

And stop tagging ROP as Lord of the Rings.

I love the idea of rumi being a little unsettling. A little weird even before her demonic side got enhanced. I think she deserves it, as a little treat. Saw a fic describe her as spooky but cute and YES. THAT'S EXACTLY HER VIBE.

I love the idea of her being a creepy kid tm and scaring the living shit of Celine and then later, Zoey and Mira.

Of course she tries to control those quirks the best she can (bc the moment Celine notices them, she trains her to not exhibit) but she still slips sometimes (specially with her girls)

Here's a list of some ideas

Her appearing behind them randomly and no one noticing because she's so fucking quiet?? Like what the fuck how do you just not make one single sound while walking girl???

She has that very very intense stare (you know. The creepy child stare tm) when she's really focused on something (like a predator hunting a prey) that gives the girls chills when they're her focus.

related to the last one but she blinks less than the average person. Sometimes it will be like some good minutes and she won't blink at all.

Her fangs were always a little more noticeable then normal even before her demon side got stronger. She's always got those vampire-ish fangs (+ the combo of her having a creepy stare + a creepy little smile with her fangs. 🤌 *Mwah* chef kiss)

You know how animals eyes reflect in the dark? Her eyes do that too. Rumi appearing randomly at Celine's room at night and her eyes glowing a little: I threw up 😥 and Celine trying to come back to the land of the living after being scared shitless. And then, at the tower everytime the girls went to the bathroom or the kitchen, they would get jumpscared by rumi's eyes while she got a snack or something in the middle of the night and the next day when they try to talk with her about it she would be like: HAHAHA WHAAAAA- noooo, pfft- you're definitely just very sleep deprived, girl. And the girls would be like: y'know what you're right (bc they're truly are always sleep deprived and tired as fuck bc of their two jobs so *shrugs* "just my mind playing tricks I guess")

High pain tolerance!! Self sacrificial tendencies and low self esteem go brrrr.

^ Added to that: very quick healing. "How did that deep ass cut got healed so quick? It's been only 3 days!??" "Guess I am just honmoon's favorite!"

Very strong. Ridiculously strong. The girls always admired her for this but never suspected it deeply bc they're like "nah, she's just this strong bc she's been training since she was a child under Celine's VERY intense training program hahaha, that's our leader 😻"

“Danyal?” Damian almost couldn’t believe it. His dead little brother, alive, right before his eyes.

“I’m sorry, have we met before?” His confusion was palpable. Danyal did not know who Damian was, did not remember, but he could. Damian could take him back home to his father and siblings and—”

Danyal’s phone rang startling them both. He glanced down at it and quickly answered, “Hi mom—sorry—no I’m headed there right now—it’s fine, I’ll be there soon—okay—okay—bye mom, love you”.

Ah. So he already has a family.

“Sorry about that, uhh, is something wrong?”

“Apologies. You merely look like someone I once knew”. Not the truth but not a complete lie either. He and his brother have not seen each other since they were both children. They are practically strangers now.

“Oh, no worries dude! I got to go now before my mom sends out a search party to find me” he jested. How very Danyal of him. If only they had a little more time together, perhaps things could have been different.

“Yes, of course. It was nice seeing you”. Danyal gave him a hesitant smile before he ran off, but seeing it made Damian inexplicably happy.

“Why’d you let him go?” Timothy asked, seemingly appearing out of nowhere. His presence was not welcome at the moment but he supposed answering a question or two wouldn’t hurt.

“I took away my brother’s happiness once before. I will not make the same mistake again.”
