Hey guys! How's it going?🙂. . For this Whisky Wednesday I thought to propose a comparison. So we're comparing two Bunnas here, the classic 12 and the Stiuireadair. . I must admit, they are very similar, though you can really feel that the Stiuireadair is a younger whisky 😉. The 12yo is more sweet and fruity, less salty and not as peaty. . The Stiuireadair is more peaty, more salty and less sweet. . Have you tried these two? What did you think of them? Which one of these do you like best?😊 . Mini Review - The Cask Whisperer Octomore 2011 Cask #4555

Significantly less peated than you’d expect from octomore, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Possibly the best octomore that we’ve tried, the balance is incredible. A bit steep at the RRP of £250+, but it may be possible to pick up a on auction at a bargin price. 9/10

Daily MCO Drink #338, MCO Day #340: SOUTH BY SOUTHWEST, made with equal parts Ardbeg Uigeadail, Campari and Cinzano 1757 Rosso vermouth, stirred over ice and strained over an ice block, with a mist of orange blossom water. Another smoky Scotch twist on the negroni, but this time closer to the original than the Negroni Torbato. This one is created by bartender Benny McKew. I was curious to try this after the Torbato just to see whether the Negroni works with just switching out the gin for smoky Scotch. While it is still a pretty tasty drink, it doesn’t have the satisfying complexity and multi-dimensional flavours of the Negroni Torbato. Hey guys! How's it going?🙂. . I'm happy that it's Friday and I'm also happy to try this Bunnahabhain Stiuireadair, I know, that's a mouthful 😄. Stiùireadair (pronounced ‘stew-rahdur’ and means ‘helmsman’ in Scots Gaelic) is the latest member of the Bunnahabhain crew. With a brackish, coastal tinge, this sherried malt will transport you to Bunnahabhain bay, with a smattering of sea spray and dried fruit lingering on your lips. Stiùireadair, is the first Bunnahabhain Limited Edition to pay homage to the Bunnahabhain Helmsman, who adorns every bottle. Nice marketing 😄. . The whisky was made from selected first and second fill sherry casks with spirit of varying ages, it also shares some of the characteristics of the regular 12yo 👌🏻. . This is a very nice addition to the line of limited edition Bunnahabhain 🥃. . Here is my review:. . Nose: Dried fruit, caramel, vanilla fudge, musty oak, hints of brine and spice. . Palate: Watery sherry notes, sea salt, gives the feeling of a young whisky. Nutty and spicy. . Finish: Medium, dry, with sherry notes and a bit salty. . This is a very atypical Bunnahabhain, I suspect the die hard fans will not like this a lot. For me, I think it's pretty good stuff 🙂🥃. . What do you guys think about this one? Have you tried it?🙂 . Daily MCO Drink #336, MCO Day #338: NEGRONI TORBATO, made with equal 35ml parts of Ardbeg Uigeadail, Aperol and Cynar, stirred over ice and strained over fresh ice block, and sprayed with Ardbeg Uigeadail mist. A signature cocktail of Duke’s Bar in London (I adapted it with Ardbeg cos I didn’t know what Islay malt they use). I saw this mentioned on one of the whisky forums I am in and knew I HAD to make it. No regrets making it either: the smokiness of the Ardbeg Uigeadail can be overwhelming, but pajred with the artichoke herbalness of the Cynar and Aperol’s subtler bitterness (compared to Campari), it release a unique sweet, smoky note that I didn’t even know Ardbeg could have. The icing on the cake, however, is that spray of smoky whisky on top, which draws you in with its smoky sensuality before the liquid takes you into its silky embrace. A real stand out #whisky from #ardbeg. Toffee sweetness comes to the fore early as smokiness quickly takes hold with cinnamon like spice coming on mid palate, continuing to the finish where its met with subtle smokiness and grassy notes. Very late on the finish there are ramnants of ripe mangoes which completes a great experience.
