i did not do it right but the idea is like. floating planes that always face the viewer while if you get a different camera angle, it's just blank/unrendered. and i forgot to colour most of this

there were a few popular urban legends about what was "really" underneath his visual effect (at the tv show's heyday, one of the most common theories was that underneath, he was a human actor in a greenscreen suit). audiences of his show never saw the unrendered side of him because they only ever saw him on-screen in the studio. and he looked perfectly normal there, with video quality insufficient to show anything unusual

during The Incident, people entered his resonance chamber for the first time and got to be in the same room as him. seeing him from more than a single fixed camera angle was later described as viscerally upsetting

I didn't know that the aftershows of Leverage Redemption were all also available on Spotify, so I've been going back and listening to them, and I'm just remembering how much fun it is to hear the show team talk about the characters and the show in general.

This is the episode assigned to 1x08 The Mastermind Job, and Gina talks about how "our Mr Wilson" appeared in the first few scripts, and how she asked if she could keep it. She also talks about being a nerd for the science behind accents!

Rambling about something I've noticed in fandom in general but I am using Shuake as the example because I've seen it with them a decent amount, which is some people claiming that seeing them romantically inherently makes their dynamic less interesting or less meaningful then seeing them either platonically or as fully not liking each other

Maybe my view of romantic relationships and the differences between them and friendships is not standard but I don't think there are enough changes between viewing them as romantic and platonic for it to make a difference? Like I don't know man, if I viewed their relationship platonically I would have a nearly identical view of their relationship because the basis of how I view them comes from canon. There is still Akechi's whole confidant and the engine room speech, there is still the perfect reality and the fact that Ren carries Akechi's glove with him. There would still be the OVA with very clear colour theory choices and Ren crying about Akechi (and before someone says something yes I know that the OVA is likely considered secondary canon), and the way I interpret those scenes would still be the same

I frankly don't care if you don't see them romantically, or if you personally prefer platonic dynamics in general, that's not an issue and I think that's a good thing about fandom, is seeing different peoples thoughts on the characters. My issue comes with people saying things about the game that are either up to interpretation or just false as if they are 100% facts and if you think differently you are wrong. I can understand not liking their dynamic even, the things that happen in the game can be hard for some people to look past in a way that makes their dynamic enjoyable, BUT putting down people who think differently isn't the answer I think

And to each their own but personally I do not see the interest in looking at their dynamic through the lens of "rivals who fully hate each other". Canonically they are weird about it and blur the lines of what their relationship to each other is so no matter if you ship them or not consider letting them be weird about it! That's more related to my personal media interests but I think not taking the time to think about their dynamic makes the game less interesting. Either as rivals or friends or lovers or whatever there is very little difference between how their relationship would be in my mind because the canon stays the same regardless

dbl amnesia au in which when shadowvanilla settle down for the cottage lifestyle, everyone is, understandably, out looking for them. Two powerful beings gone? In an instant? At the same time? Soemthing *mustve* happened. And I think of all the people to find them first, Black Sapphire would stumble upon this, realize quite quickly that neither of them remember anything, and actually, kind of just… keep quiet about the whole thing. Hell, he might even settle nearby to keep an eye on them and see if smilk remembers anything by seeing or interacting with him, but all he sees is a man who is very happy with his new situation with no hints that he might even recall who he might’ve been beforehand.

if anyone else comes along, depending on who it is that arrives, black sapphire may even run interference to make sure others don’t mess with them and try to purposefully jog their memories since whatever they’ve got going on seems to be working for them, even IF he really wants his master back. And I’m sure smilk isn’t entirely unlike his old self… he’s just different now. Calmer. Happier for sure with pure vanilla being the optimistic cookie he is.

Speaking of, shadowvanilla probably make for fairly nice neighbors, and they play off each other like an old couple with their fond bickering. Probably like the grandparents people wish they had: a doting pure vanilla who’s more than happy to share extra produce and bring over food, a silly smilk who’ll happily spin yarn and tell stories about whatever he’s made up and who’ll take your side in arguments, and the both of them will sit out on their porch for tea for break or in the evening and be sociable to anyone who passes.

They deserve their peace and their homey habit even if it only lasts for a little bit, and it’ll be something they surely won’t be able to forget should their original memories ever do return

Stanford never became friends with Fiddleford.

Instead he got himself a different small friend group who cares a lot about him. At least about the Ford he pretended to be in college.

A kind, soft spoken formerly bullied genius who researches very dull stuff in Oregon and definitely not anything weird. Their Ford would never break any rules or ignore safety measures [unlike that other student they heard about during their college years.]

And then Ford stops answering their calls and loses his grant. 

It’s time for an intervention and they start pestering Ford with letters and calls until he finally agrees to meet them at a science convention, but he’ll take his brother with him.

They’re relieved! Ford is with Shermie! They like Shermie! It's a good thing that Ford still has one brother who isn't a good for nothing selfish criminal who destroyed his entire future!

If they ever get their hands on Ford’s evil twin they’ll make sure he’ll regret ever messing with their friend. Ford is too nice for revenge. They aren’t.

Meanwhile at the not-yet Mystery Shack, the Stans freshly survived their own angsty canon divergent tale of two stans AU and locked Bill out of Ford's mind like a week ago.

Stan: I don’t know how long Ford will keep me around but this will be good for him. He needs some friends to take care of him after I inevitably get kicked out again!

Ford: I only agreed to this because Stan insisted and I still haven’t found a way to thank him and apologize. I hope all my “friends” die in a fire.

Y'know, in all the hype for Xenoblade X DE, one thing I've been thinking about is how amazing this must feel for the people at monolith, specifically the ones who worked on the original game.

The Wii U version was fantastic but was heavily trimmed down from what was initailly planned. The thing about that is a lot of the new stuff we saw in that trailer is cut content that was either shown in the original game but not delved into or stuff we know about because of the artbook. The new skell Hresvelg, the Ghosts, the new floating area, Neilnail and her twin skells, Elma's partner and the original ares, all of it.

I can't imagine how it must feel for the people at monolithsoft who were there working on the original game, knowing how much it had to be trimmed down, now getting the chance to not only revisit the game and add back in that cut content bringing the game far closer to the original vision, but also having a decade worth of player feedback to look at to, hopefully at least, make the game even better than it's original vision.

I imagine some stuff like the improved font and UI and the built in Overdrive guide were at least partially out of necessity to make the game work better from a design standpoint on Switch, but you cannot tell me they aren't at least aware of common fan criticisms when they specifically chose to draw attention to something as otherwise mundane as a Flight Module Skell jumping. Like come on they know.

Factors of consideration

[long rambling of my thoughts about this headcanon below]

The older I get the more I think about me and my friends and how some of us are starting to move away to bigger and better things. As you would expect as we all met in high school or before, in the same town. But it’s expected that most of us won’t stay here.

And while thanks to modern technology we can still talk and sometimes visit, it’s never the same as being together in person imo.

And that’s why I imagine his scene here. I imagine Albert always had the dream to go to Germany. A place with a budding and flourishing advancement in Science. He studies and works hard to accomplish said dream. Never giving it a second thought bc he’s never cared about anything as much as science.

Maybe his family is supportive but doesn’t understand his drive. His passion. Maybe nobody did. Maybe people thought him weird and on the verge of unscrewing his head loose. But he doesn’t care. Or even if he does, all the more for him to work extremely hard to prove them wrong.

But then something unexpected happened: he made a dear friend. Someone who acknowledges his dedication and finds respect in it. Someone who listens to his ramblings and seems interested even if they doesn’t completely understand the material. Someone who truthfully wants to be his friend bc they’re not the type of person to beat around the bush or lie for the sake of another’s feelings.

He’s found so much joy in another’s company that he completely forgets his plan to leave the country. The plan he’s had since he was a boy.

The best friend he’s ever had. He would leave behind. Completely unknown if they would ever see each other again. Suddenly, he’s not too sure about it anymore. Surely there are universities in London that had excellent science programs. That could get MAYBE him to where he wanted. But it wasn’t his dream. The one things he’s been working for up at this point. Is it worth leaving behind his newfound loved ones? To be alone again in a foreign country?

There’s more to this headcanon/idea. I’ve daydreamed about it a lot. Albert expresses his concerns to Barok. And Barok, being the little darling he is, ofc he encourages Albert to follow his dream. Nothing would make Barok happier then to see his friend achieve his passions. It takes some encouraging but, as we know, Albert chooses to continue his studies in Germany. An incredibly bittersweet moment between the two. But the thought of the other becoming someone great and achieving great things is enough to keep their spirits high. And after all, they could always write letters to each other.

i also think the fact that weekes wasnt out when masked empire came out also plays a lot into how the tumblr side of fandom perceives the romance which. leaves sort of a bad taste in my mouth..

I'm going to be so real I do not understand tim & steph shippers who feel that Steph dating Tim again would save her character. You can make an argument that giving Tim a more compelling love interest would be beneficial for him! And you can at least make an argument that the fujo mischaracterization of Steph would stop. However she'd still, inevitably, be treated as a prop character/extension for someone more popular 😭 it also wouldn't make her appear in more books! Tim doesn't have many frequent appearances at the moment either! You can just say you like the couple and want them back together without acting like you have some kind of moral stance
