I might be wrong cos idk the US context so take this w a grain of salt... but despite scores of posts about it I fail to see the plan to ban tiktok as a bad thing 😅 it's already banned for employees/official devices by governments and international organisations across the world for compromising user data and um, literally being spyware. It's not like it's the Last Bastion of Free Speech either like dude just use a different app...

#yeah i get the concerns in the us over it primarily being a r*publican/tr*mp initiative #but it's well documented that the app isn't secure and is being used to actively spy on ppl. like the EU has banned its employees from using #it on work devices...#like tiktok legit admitted to spying activity before :/#yeah yeah all tech companies sell your data but this one is like. more predatory than the rest??#so yeah in general all the waxing poetic abt the death of free speech doesn't convince me in this specific case. just go on other apps lol #they're already cloning the tiktok model w shorts or reels or whatever its literally identical #^^ this post stems about 50 50 from actual intelligent opinion formation AND my knee jerk opinion of tiktok as 'dumb' lmao

One of my biggest gripes about the dc fandom is how simplified and stripped down ‘child soldier’ became as a term.

Like, ya’ll, I don’t think forcing a rich guy to take you in and make him teach you martial arts is equal to having your entire childhood ripped from the root up for military purposes. That’s just me tho idk

#cass and Damian are the only ones that fit this term. the rest is a side eye #the issue I have is the misinterpretation that comes with that particular term and the washing down of it’s extremely damaging meaning #obviously it can be portrayed in symbolic ways but taking it and using it as an angst label is kinda lame #like it’s specifically a word used in military context and it’s seldom known batman should NOT be associated with established political #powers (the police military etc)#because he’s a VIGILANTE they work OUTSIDE of law #also it’s rarely even used as an interesting plot device. it’s just an argument to make Bruce look bad. which — news flash— with the writers #dc has? that’s already covered.#augh #dc critical #well actually fandom critical but maybe I’m just a salty Bruce Stan

Bruce Wayne had at one point been working on a device to guarantee Gotham would always have a protector. In the event of his death, the machine could grow a clone of him and implant a copy of his memories into them, creating a new Batman to succeed him.

He eventually gave up on the idea before it ever came to full fruition.

But even in its incomplete state, he had created just enough for Clockwork to hijack it.

Phantom’s soul was in a perilous state, unlikely to survive without being attached to a new body. And luckily, the device provided an ideal way to facilitate that. Plus, the Waynes would undoubtedly support his recovery too. Well, at least once they got over the panic at his existence they would.

#yes that device was a real concept mentioned in a comic #i haven’t read the full comic it came from though (i just read one arc which it was mentioned in) so i could be missing some details #oh yeah btw the comic in question is the 2011 Batman thing - I saw it in the Mr Bloom arc #idk if he ever actually built the cloning part but he definitely made the memory part (which the story claimed was the tougher aspect)#so it feels plausible he *might* have #…also idk when Danny’s arrival would fall in bruce’s timeline exactly in relation to his ‘death’/amnesia in that story line #i have no idea how much time there was between his work on the device and that stuff happening #dp x dc #dpxdc #dc x dp #dcxdp #danny phantom x dc #danny phantom x dc crossover #oh also my intention wasn’t for this to be a de aging fic—i’d been figuring the clone would be at least Danny’s age (if not *Bruce’s* age)#though yeah it could be taken that way i guess

to this day i can't get over how stupid it was to remove the headphone jack from phones. now if you want to use wired headphones you have to use the charging port. and then they made a stupid little external adapter you have to plug in that sticks out of your phone and advertise it as Hey now you can listen to music AND charge your phone at the same time! what an innovation! if only we could have done that before! the thing i want most from these increasingly sleek and efficient shapes and designs is to have a bunch of external bullshit sticking out of it to make it as clunky as possible! next they will remove the call function from your phone entirely and in order to make phone calls you will need to attach it by a twirly cable to an external keypad that plugs into the wall, and to enhance the speaker/microphone you'll be able to set your nice neat rectangle into a banana shaped device that sits nicely against your ear and mouth. and that's what we call innovation

DP x DC Prompt [30]

Jimmy Olson had simply been passing through the city of Amity Park when he noticed the yard sale in front of the building that had what looked like an UFO build on top.

Definitely not up to code but he ignored it because all his attention went to the absolute beauty of a camera that was stalled on a table out front.

His own had been destroyed two days ago during the latest alien invasion when it got hit by a stray energy beam so he meant to get a new one.

And this looked just like his preferred model, but Silver, and with a brand he didn't recognised slapped on the side.

Jimmy gleefully took it back home to Metropolis with him.

After about a week he'd taking some amazing pictures with it. The thing worked wonderfully, just as he'd hoped.

He'd been a little worried he was going to get scammed for that price but it turns out the whole deal was legit.

Well...

That was until the next big event.

Superman caught a building and directed Superboy and Supergirl to evacuate the rest of the civilians while he would carefully put the thing back so it wouldn't collapse and destroy the entire street.

It was an amazing visual, a front page worthy shot.

So, obviously, Jimmy took it.

Next thing he knew there was a deafening crashing noise and loud ominous cracking as the building crashed down and started falling again.

Superboy and Supergirl scrambled to stabilise it again and shouted for Superman.

But there was no response.

Superman had seemingly simply vanished.

On the screen of Jimmy's camera however, a very confused Clark puts the building down like he'd intended, and then starts to look around why it's suddenly so quiet and calm.

He quickly catches on that something is wrong when he realises he's the only one there and he can't leave the photo's borders.

Jimmy eventually realises what happened and runs to a nearby Lois and panic whispers, "Lois, Superman is trapped in my camera!!"

"What!?"

She looks at her tiny husband doing a couple confused circles in he frame.

"I got it from a random yard sale and it worked fine but now it caught him!"

"They must have known you'd eventually take a picture of him. Playing the long game."

"He's stuck and it's my fault! How do we fix this!?"

"I'll contact the league, stop freaking out, it'll be fine"

When the two of them check the camera next they notice Clark looking out through the tiny screen. It's kind of adorable.

Jimmy mouths, "we're getting help!" At him and Clark gives him a thumbs up.
