#it would suck for the highly anticipated TES6 to be a objective disappointment and step down from previous games

I do think there's a funny observation to be made as Elder Scrolls 6 becomes more of a possibility
At least in my corners of the Internet I've seen a general pessimism over it, from those who've followed the trajectory of TES as a whole, with the continued dumbing down of RPG elements into what might be a nothing burger of a game like Starfield
And I just think that's so funny because clearly someone at Bethesda thinks that simple and minimalistic is the way to go with game mechanics and story. Have a wide swimming pool, but keep it shallow
Meanwhile Baldur's Gate was made with the exact opposite ethos and not only is it one of the most critically acclaimed games ever but it also attracted a wide fan base including a good number of people who don't typically play "complicated" RPGs.
#i feel like there's a way to express what I'm trying to say more coherently but its after work and I'm tired#im just#kind of disappointed in Bethesda#because whoever is making these decisions clearly doesnt understand what audiences actually want#Starfield was supposed to be the next big thing and no one's playing it#it would suck for the highly anticipated TES6 to be a objective disappointment and step down from previous games#though im sure expectations are so high at this point after over a decade even a good studio would struggle to pull it off#personal#bg3#tes#tes vi#elder scrolls#elder scrolls 6
