After Edmund died, Violet leaned on Anthony to run the estate, Benedict to look after the children, and Colin for herself.

We know how being thrust into the role of Viscount so young and so tragically impacted Anthony. His kept his siblings, with the exception of Benedict, at arm’s length. It’s not to say he didn’t love them! But he had this barrier up which wouldn’t allow him to think of himself as anything but their guardian and protector. Kate gave him the strength to knock it down and he was able to foster a brotherly relationship with them.

We’ve seen how close Benedict is with all of his siblings. When Anthony suddenly became the head of the family, Benedict took his role as “big brother” very seriously. He even acted in that way with Anthony! I’ve adored watching how he is with his siblings and how his relationship with each of them is so different, and I’m sure they’ll only evolve as he finds his own path.

Colin is, without a doubt, a mama’s boy. He doesn’t escape his mother’s clutches at a ball, even though the older boys do. He makes sure she’s taken care of, is sensitive to her feelings, and provides her gifts. He takes his mother’s words to heart because she is very in-tune with his emotions. I wouldn’t be surprised if Violet ends up living with him and Pen in her old age.

I just love my ABC brothers and their mama so much.

“Your brother is adorable.” The cashier cooed at Danny, peering over the counter with a smile. “What’s his name?”

Danny looked down to the surly, scowling little de-aged Batman currently holding onto his hand, glaring up at the cashier with bright blue eyes.

Things had already been bad enough when he’d gotten caught in a fight in Gotham, but things went from bad to worse when a magician had hit Batman with a de-aging spell and then shoved them through a portal.

Into a different fucking dimension.

Because of course neither of their lives could be easy. And now the two of them were stuck in Iowa in the middle of nowhere, at a truck stop gas station, trying to go on a cross-country roadtrip to reach the nearest hero city and get home.

He looked up and smiled awkwardly, trying to come up with a name off the top of his head — one of the heroes called Batman ‘B’ when he got hit right? B for Batman, right. B… B… Bee… Bees.

“Buzz.” He said, and tried not to grimace as the cashier’s face warped with surprise. “Like the astronaut.”

This was gonna be a long trip.

Angel is a completely different person at work vs in their personal life.

Super stoic, super serious at work. They don’t talk much, their appearance is always crisp and put together. They aren’t rude to their coworkers, they’re very polite and they’ll give them small smiles to put them at ease during a conversation but they keep to themselves otherwise.

One day, one of their coworkers invites them to dinner with a small group of their other coworkers and encourages them to bring a plus one if they have one. Angel has been itching for more interactions outside of the pack in general so for the first time they take them up on it and bring David.

And, to the surprise of everyone but David, they become sooo chatty when they sit down, engaging with everyone with a big smile, they’re holding David’s hand while they wait for the food to come out, just being their usual self—the one we get to see most often. Their eyes are softer, brighter and the group instantly becomes less tense in their presence.

Back at work, they’re still pretty quiet compared to their normal but they initiate chatting with their work friends more now and they smile a little more. They seem more approachable and Angel is happy to see how much going out with the others changed the atmosphere at work. They didn’t hate their job by any means— but its work and they aren’t exactly… excited? About going to work ever? They do it because they have to, not because they’re especially passionate about it. Angel has and never had the idea of a “dream job”, they don’t dream about working for the rest of their life up until retirement.

Its much of the same feelings they have about cooking. They know how to cook but they avoid it like the plague because it stresses them out to no end—especially when they’re doing it while they’re starving. In short: Survival & obligation vs actual enjoyment!

That being said, they find themselves less anxious about getting up when their alarm goes off in the morning. They hit snooze just a little less than they used to and David is happy to see them enjoying themselves a little more.

Yes! I thought Pitch meeting the Light Demon was a good way of showing that he hates losing control, that despite him being a different Pitch back then, some of his more present day traits have always been with him.

I really like the idea of him being shaped by humanity's stories, though he has come to looking down on humans. How he copied humans and coming to regret it. Him still liking storytellers, despite how he's been changed by them.

The story of him forgetting other monsters name during the Great Depression was sobering, and so... human of him. Like, he's been brought done to the level of these humans, who are in poverty. They are miserable, and he is as well. There's fear, but little belief.

The phenomena of humans developing themselves and having control of their destiny is something Pitch seems largely in denial over, and blames solely onto the Guardians' influence. His decisions and understanding of things lead him wrong.

Pitch and the boy was a dynamic I really loved, it really showed an ambiguous side of him. Not evil, not good. Thinking about that boy's existence makes me really sad, and how Pitch was in his only baby tooth's happy childhood memory.

Tooth pondering about Pitch and that boy was so well done with the boy's tooth, it added so much depth to her role as the Guardian of Memories for me. How she can't be judgmental of the memory even though Pitch is there and he is an enemy.

Her thinking about the possibilities of him coming to know about the tooth also makes sense. Even if he said that boy was meaningless then, he has so few believers now. Pitch is so prideful he might destroy the tooth, but it is possible that he could change his mind.

It's sad because he is capable of complexity, of liking things like stories, of even having regrets when it comes to certain things. Pitch, however, at the end of the day, prefers fear and control and will prioritize what he wants, and blame everyone except himself.

But yeah, I agree completely!! 

He’s in such denial about how humanity shapes itself. After all he thinks it should be him shaping humanity, but instead, humanity shapes him. 

I actually think the gargoyle was supposed to be the demon at the beginning. Depression echoes fear, with Pitch going through the moments he had while in his prime, but this time, he’s at his lowest. It says a lot that Pitch forgot the monster, and how he survived but the demon didn’t. Fear sticks around, even if Pitch is at his lowest. There is little belief and Pitch has some. 

The boy’s baby tooth is the only one Tooth has, which means he didn’t survive for much longer after Pitch left him. (He probably starved, as in every comic in the four movements, he mentions that he’s hungry.) The happiest memory was Pitch, who was probably the only person who even bothered to talk to him. Tooth’s pondering if Pitch would change makes both of them more complex. Tooth would be willing to help him, but she doesn’t know if Pitch would waste the opportunity or not. She doesn’t know if he would choose good. He has the capacity to do so, but he stays stubbornly at the same spot. 

And when it comes to it, Pitch cannot accept that it is his fault when he falls. He’d rather blame everyone else, because he is no longer at the top.

everytime i think you can’t improve canons vague and/or kinda bullshit backstory, you come out of the woodwork with a steel chair and hit me with Emotions. i love your ofa and afo backstory, yoichi’s entire life is just Holy Shit, he deserves to go rabid!! his husband should have gotten to punch afo in the throat with a full destroy smash!! three should have dragged those two therapy just so they would be comfortable enough for him to loudly bitch about their marriage at every opportunity!! since the vestiges can’t climb out of izuku’s bones and dogpile afo like he deserves, izuku should absolutely fuck him up on their behalf. Ahhhhh I’m so glad you like it! I’m, again, obsessed with First and Second and their tragic love that lives in my head so I’m thrilled you like it too.

It’s also really funny you say that because I have a different fic that’s a half-plotted crack fic where, in a freak Quirk accident, the ghosts are freed from Izuku’s bones and they have no idea what the fuck kind of Quirk could even do this, let alone how long it lasts for or what may resolve it, so they just say “fuck it” and decide to get as much done of their unfinished business as possible. Their primary goals? Throw First and Second, those two fucking idiots, a proper wedding and kill First’s bitch of a brother. I call it my One For All Road Trip for The Cure (the cure being murder).

I can confirm it does throw the country into chaos. Everyone is so stressed and confused by what they’re doing. But also the Japanese government is stopping just short of officially announcing their stance to be “fuck it let them solve this problem rip the fucking bandaid off.” They are aware of the situation and are evaluating it for proper resolution. They’re hoping all for one just dies before anyone makes them finish evaluating.

Aizawa does not give a fuck what those people do but does not see why Midoriya has to be doing it with them. No they cannot borrow him to go kill a man. Yagi stop enabling this. What do you mean if he doesn’t kill all for one with them he has to do it on his own. Why does he have to do it at all. What do you mean it’s “because he’s nine” why are you numbered

The cast of Blades of Light and Shadow and their Perfect Match types

Ever since I did my Blades/Elementalists attunement crossover to mark the anniversary of the Blades series, I’ve known I wanted to do something like this to mark the wide release of book three, and I love me some Perfect Match and the types system, so what better way than by incorporating that into a piece?

So the match types you see here are based on what we’ve seen of these characters up to book two, so any character evolution they may undergo in book three is not accounted for. You might also notice that, when deciding each character’s type, I went off of the core four traits instead of the match name or description, unless I needed a tiebreaker.

Finally, MC’s type is pretty subjective, as I’m sure everyone has a different idea of what their MCs are like, so for the sake of this edit set, Raine’s type is based on which traits she displays most in canon.
