Origami Angel Announce New Album
Origami Angel will release Feeling Not Found on September 27th. Today they’ve shared two new songs from the album, “Dirty Mirror Selfie” and “Where Blue Light Blooms.” Track Listing * Lost Signal * Dirty Mirror Selfie * Where Blue Light Blooms * Viral * Underneath My Skin * Wretched Trajectory * AP Revisionist History * Living Proof * Fruit Wine * Sixth Cents (Get It?) * Secondgradefoofight * HM07 Waterfall * Higher Road * Feeling Not Found Press Release If you've got it, flaunt it––and all over the upcoming 14-track full length from Washington, D.C. duo  Origami Angel, that's exactly what vocalist/guitarist Ryland Heagy and drummer  Pat Doherty do. Simply put, their new album, Feeling Not Found, is the future of emo. Recorded with Grammy-nominated producer Will Yip (Turnstile, Title Fight, The Wonder Years) at Studio 4, Feeling Not Found revolves around the deeply modern experience teased in the title: an emotional and spiritual 404 error, a sensation of cellular-level malfunction and data corruption, of being lost in an oblivion of digital information, and the desperate struggle to reconnect to how it feels to be human and whole.  Origami Angel will headline a mammoth trek across the U.S. this fall in support of Feeling Not Found, and they're bringing along Arm's Length, Macseal, and Forests for support. All tickets go on sale this Friday. Two songs from Feeling Not Found are out today: "Dirty Mirror Selfie" may quickly rise in the ranks of the Origami Angel discography, with its furious pogo-ready riff plunging into a power-pop declaration of intent.“Where Blue Light Blooms,” a stunning, operatic track, finds Heagy and Doherty giving a workshop in outside-the-box songwriting and includes one of the most thrilling bridges you’ll hear on a rock song this year.  Origami Angel want to be the best like no one ever was, and so far, it seems like very little is going to stand in their way. Over the last few years, the duo has released some of the most exciting music to come out of the emo/pop-punk scene in years, and they're doing it their own way. Their 2019 LP, Somewhere City, has been called one of the best emo albums of the last 15 years by Consequence and their song "Doctor Whomst" called one of the 100 best emo songs of all time by Vulture. From that point forward, the duo has consistently reinvented expectations year-after-year––starting with 2021's massive double-LP, GAMI GANG,a pair of contrasting EPs in 2022 called re:turnand DE:PART, and a 2023 East Coast summer mixtape,The Brightest Days. Together, Heagy and Doherty are truly setting the tone for what the next decade of emo will sound like. Tour Dates Thu 10/24 Nashville, TN - Eastside Bowl Fri 10/25 Atlanta, GA - The Masquerade - Heaven Sat 10/26 Orlando, FL - The Beacham (Half House) Mon 10/28 Austin, TX - Mohawk Tue 10/29 Fort Worth, TX - Tulips Thu 10/31 Mesa, AZ - The Nile Fri 11/1 Pomona, CA - The Glass House Sat 11/2 Pomona, CA - The Glass House Sun 11/3 San Diego, CA - SOMA Sidestage Tue 11/5 Roseville, CA - Goldfields Roseville Wed 11/6 San Francisco, CA - Great American Music Hall Fri 11/8 Portland, OR - Hawthorne Theatre Sat 11/9 Vancouver, BC - Rickshaw Theatre Sun 11/10 Seattle, WA - Showbox Wed 11/13 Denver, CO - Gothic Theatre Fri 11/15 St. Louis, MO - Delmar Hall Sat 11/16 Chicago, IL - House of Blues Sun 11/17 Detroit, MI - St. Andrews Hall Tue 11/19 Lakewood, OH - The Roxy at Mahalls Thu 11/21 Boston, MA - Big Night Live Fri 11/22 Philadelphia, PA - TLA Sun 11/24 New York, NY - Webster Hall --- Please consider becoming a member so we can keep bringing you stories like this one. ◎ https://chorus.fm/news/origami-angel-announce-new-album/

Conclusions on Camping In Alaska
Wholeheartedly, I love Camping In Alaska. I found them when I was 14 going into my freshman year of high school when I was a little worse for wear. I know it might seem weird to love a band for helping explain their angst and woes, but I am so grateful for what they've done. Not to make this too weepy I had my down moments for the first half of high school and this band really stuck with me. I really relied on them to help take my pain away and when you listen to their music late at night while laying on your bed just staring away it feels like the universe has been solved. I genuinely held them to this degree and still do. Yes, there are other bands that have similar feelings to this such as Macseal; however, CIA just has a small twinge of difference. Maybe by the different recording styles that show throughout the different albums. Or where they were in their lives that fueled the energy and feeling behind each piece of work. They speak to the masses in their own individualistic way.
It's common knowledge that their debut album, Please Be Nice, has gained the most recognition and helped boost a new generation of listeners. Unknowingly, talking to the thousands of listeners who felt the same way at that age or another at some point in their life. I initially found them by their infamous song “c u in da ballpit” and would continue showing my friends the band by this song. Their lyrics spoke to my old depressed, angst self better than any other music. I was wrapped up in my sadness and this helped finish the cake. Sorry, if you took it the wrong way I’m not saying their album made me more depressed; instead, it helped speak for my sadness when I didn't know what it was. It spoke to me and my venture to be free in the iconic line, “When I can’t sleep I’ll drive my car to the top of Monte Sano and I’ll watch the cars pass by and I’ll feel alright.” Having that urge to drop everything and just be free or go with the wind was one flame that never blew out. This allowed me to escape in a state of mind so prevalent it brought tears to my eyes.
It’s really important to me seeing bands playing an iconic feeling that was huge and impactful in their life over what might top charts. Still it blows my mind how they didn't get the early recognition they deserved when this was first released. Maybe it was made ahead of its time to really have the effect like it does currently. In interviews I read they are said to have much of their love for playing from wanting to share their music with others (from doorsatseven.org). When I first found them they had less than 500 Youtube subscribers and weren’t even on Spotify. I just found them one random night and was mesmerized by this new sound. My two greatly passionate years filled by mid-west emo and post-emo were fueled by CIA. No one topped them in my mind, but the love for them wasn't up to par with how great of artists they were. Then, over the years I saw how they climbed and climbed in their notoriety. This brought a huge smile to my face seeing my favorite band become more and more popular. I could sense how amazing they were and only wanted for more people to see this as well.
I know this isn't much of a review. I mean I can't really review any of their music without saying how it's the best. The only circumstance I have is to give context behind the band and what ignited the flame behind each release. This was merely a rant induced by my need to once again show people how much I truly love this band. Now don't just base this off of my opinion figure your views on your own by going and listening to them. Personally, I would recommend Freight Train or Bathe. Alas, this is a personal matter so choose whatever you feel like.

I’ve had Super Enthusiast on repeat since its release. Vulnerable lyrics telling stories about loneliness, longing and change while backed by the band’s classic sound of punchy drums and textured mathrock inspired guitar tones.

music: weekly roundup (our favorite submissions of the week)
Lance Tingey - Waves
This track is hauntingly beautiful, not just instrumentally. Several of the lyrics, like “all caught up in your undertow”, caught me to the point that I actually restarted the song to play closer attention. Their delivery is divine, and the high notes in the second verse provide excellent range that keeps this song from going stale too soon. While the decrescendo right before the outro is a little misleading and the song could have ended a bit earlier, this song is perfect for fans of gentle indie rock - and yes, it would be right at home on the Twilight soundtrack.
Tyler James Bellinger - Rain
This song is quick on its feet and so catchy. The opening lines of this track pulled me in and the rest of the song only upped the ante. The beat sounds radio ready and the vocals are delivered with so much conviction. When you give this a listen, pay extra attention to the vocal run at the end (around the 2:25 mark) because it almost brought me to a standing ovation. The remaining bits of the refrain after that dragged a little, but overall this track is strong. I can now say that I love rain - both the weather and the song.
Benjamin Roustaing - Beautiful Lie
This track feels like wandering around the city on a fall day. The upbeat strum of the guitar, the subtle jangle of the tambourine, and the soft-spoken vocals all make this song such an experience. While Roustaing only has three songs streaming, I’m so excited to see where he goes next. Listening to this track brought a smile to my face. If you’re looking for something that will make you involuntarily toe-tap and bob along, put this song on and wait for the bridge around the 1 minute mark. Add this to your Happy Girl Autumn playlist, you won’t regret it.
Drawing Blanks - Violet
This song was hard for me to place at first. On first listen, I heard a lot of classic rock vibes. However, as I got more and more into it, I decided that this song is what would happen if Alabama Shakes went a little more modern rock and roll. The electric guitar in the beginning of the track brings a sharpness and continues to catch your attention through to the end. The melody in the chorus and the richness of the vocals, though, give this song really bluesy undertones. The result is a wonderfully unique song that keeps you guessing.
Simon D James - Over and Over
This toned down indie track starts out pared back and collected and holds steady for its full 3 and a half minutes. It features some really striking and very subtle drums - they held most of my attention for the first half of the song. Because the duet vocals are so understated, the lyrics really shine here. The instrumentals ramp up a little bit in the first bridge but I would have loved to see that carried through to the rest of the track. The refrain in the end gives this song a bit of much-needed grit.
Alone Zone - Inwards Out
This lighthearted track has a happy backbeat and vocals to match. The guitars on this song feel a little bluesy and they nearly steal the show. The best word to describe this, overall, is easygoing. The instrumentals take you along for an ambling journey and keep things casual. This is one of those rare instances where an accent is still perceptible in a singing voice. Every once in a while, you can pick up on a twinge of an English accent and it gives the track a little something extra. This song is the perfect length - it doesn’t drag on too long, it gives you just enough melody, and then it winds itself out coolly. Definitely give it a listen.
Erik Norblad - Cold Water (Davai Remix)
I’m usually not into remixes, but there’s something about the way that the electronic beat of this remix juxtaposes the tenderness of the vocals that makes this track a little more versatile.  Instead of the melancholy pleading of the acoustic guitar in the original (which, don’t get me wrong, is a beautiful track and has its own place on my nighttime playlist), the pop overtones bring this song into the light of day and make it perfect for any upbeat playlist. The balance between heartfelt and electropop is perfectly calculated, so it doesn’t feel like you’re at the club every time you hear it.
Zach Kleisinger - Lower Your Book
This quiet, heartfelt track really struck me. It’s different from the songs I was originally looking for while I was going through submissions, and it stopped me in my tracks. It feels honest, straightforward, almost pleading. The guitar gently winds along in the background and it’s easy to get lost in the melody. The vocals are low and slow, a little rambly maybe but in the most endearing way. The instrumental break around 3:30 makes this track for me. If you’re looking for some new additions to a sleep playlist, this is a song for you.
Triggerlip - Foundations
Of all the songs in this roundup this week, this is the one that excites me the most. I must have listened to it about ten times in the submission round alone. That growl of an opening vocal pulled me in immediately and I thought the rest of the song would follow suit, but the range left me pleasantly surprised. The track is the perfect mix of melodic and loud, with just a little bit of that telltale cacophony that makes a pop punk song so endearing. Without a full length album, this Australian band is just starting out and if this is any indication of where they’re going, count me in.
Macseal - Always Hazy
This song won me over with its first drum ruff and stole my heart forever with the guitars. In true pop-punk fashion, the vocals are unpolished and honest. They toe the line between pop punk and indie in a way that makes me think this band is playing house shows and wearing exclusively dad hats (please note: this is the highest compliment I can bestow on a band). The chorus at 1:20!!! drives me!!! crazy!!! This band feels right at home in a list of midwest emo bands: Charmer, Michael Cera Palin, Mom Jeans., to name just a short short list. Please excuse me while I listen to this on repeat for the rest of my life.
Listen to all of these songs on our playlist!
