There’s something so poetic about how Ivan didn’t think he’d be a trauma to Till, but then Round 7 showed that’s all he ended up being.

And by “poetic,” I mean “really fucking heartbreaking.”

Like, yes, Sua is most definitely a source of trauma for Mizi, but she’s also the source of a lot of good memories and a source of love.

Ivan wasn’t (or at least didn’t seem to be) a source of any of that for Till.

I think Ivan recognized that he hurt Till when they were growing up.

Not anything earth shattering or irredeemable, but that he wasn’t the nicest (he even acknowledges this in the ‘thank you for being a victim of my shallow emotions’ comic).

And he knew Till was already hurting after Mizi’s disappearance, plus what happened at the club, so he probably didn’t want to add to that.

Sacrificing himself in Round 6 solved two problems (in Ivan’s mind): Till would get to live, and Ivan couldn’t hurt him anymore. Bonus points for the sacrifice acting as an apology and a confession.

But even in death, Ivan still hurt Till.

Luka used the trauma of his death against Till. That’s one of the biggest reasons why Till lost.

Knowing that was the last thing Ivan wanted makes it so much worse.

It’s like hurting Till is this constant he can’t escape from.

Dead or alive.

I can’t decide which would be more devastating:

Getting flashbacks that we saw in Round 6, but from Till’s perspective that fundamentally alter the way we viewed those scenes (ex: Till being semi-conscious when Ivan found him in the club and knowing it was Ivan trying to comfort him), OR

Flashbacks we’ve never seen before that Ivan doesn’t remember or forced himself to forget because they didn’t fit with his narrative that Till didn’t care about him at all.

it’s going to be so devastating if there are any flashbacks of ivan in r7 dear god. i know it’s likely but i’m Not Prepared

my personal fear is till hallucinating ivan going to take his collar off at some point

If we get Ivan hallucinations with the club vibe of Round 7’s song, I want Till to keep seeing flashes of him in the crowd wearing his Round 6 outfit, smiling and dancing.

A mix of “you’re just as beautiful as the day I lost you” and “maybe we/you could’ve been happy if things were different”.

It’s Till’s idealized, somewhat warped idea of who Ivan could’ve been, if he didn’t have to wear a mask all the time to survive.

I want the hallucination of Ivan to take inspiration from the Deep Faker (偽顏) music video (which coincidentally was animated in part by Vivinos and Qmeng).

If Till died in Round 6 and Ivan was rescued by the rebels, I would’ve loved to see how the dynamic between him and Mizi would play out.

Two worshippers of dead gods with no one to relate to except each other.

There’s a lingering familiarity between the two; a holdover from their friendship as children.

It’s something they can’t find in the other rebels.

But they struggle to grow closer because everything about the other person reminds them of their lost loves.

Ivan’s demeanor is so much like Sua’s it breaks Mizi’s heart over and over again.

When Mizi smiles, Ivan remembers how Till would light up at sight and it hurts to breathe.

Would it breed resentment? Understanding?

Would they ever be able to heal?

How do you go on when your universe collapses and it echoes in the eyes of the only person who knows exactly how you feel?

Their dynamic gets even crazier when you think about how each of them are characterized.

Unsha picked Ivan to rival Urak’s human Till, thus making Ivan’s life revolve around Till.

By Ivan falling in love with Till, he continued making his life revolve around him, which means Ivan was still following Unsha’s orders, even if unintentionally.

Ivan was continuing to be obedient, like he always has been.

(I also wonder how Unsha felt about Ivan befriending Till. Was he dismayed because they were supposed to be rivals? Or was he supportive because Ivan getting closer to Till meant that he could mess with him and eventually come out on top?)

By contrast, Till constantly rejecting Ivan (at least when they were younger) meant he was disobeying Urak by not engaging in the rivalry.

Till was rebelling like he always did, except this time he probably didn’t know.

It’s not just their interactions that are a pendulum, it’s who they are as people.

Till resists. Ivan submits.

Ivan pulls. Till pushes.

Back and forth.

Over and over again.
