I wish I could just play video games all day as my job bc I have so many things I wish I could do like playing all 19 mainline Final Fantasy games in order. Okay, I'm going to try to explain a concept called purchasing power parity by something called the Big Mac Index.

A Big Mac costs $5.69 in the US.

A Big Mac costs ₹230 in India.

Now, if you can buy a burger in the US with your money, you should be able to buy a burger in India with the same money.

If 1 US Big Mac = 1 Indian Big Mac

$5.69 = ₹230

$1 = ₹230/5.69

$1 = ₹40.43

This means that 1 US dollar (USD) is equal to 40.42 Indian Rupees (INR), right? So if you have $5.69 with you right now, and you go to India,

You convert that $5.69 to INR and you get ₹230.(5.69 x 40.43 = 230)

Enough to buy one Big Mac in India too.

This is the same if you have ₹230 in India and you got to the US, you get enough to buy one burger.

But wait. This is Burger exchange rate. What is the actual exchange rate?

Wait.

If you have $1 with you right now, you get ₹86.29 in India? ($1 × 86.29 = ₹86.29)

So if you have $5.69 with you right now, you get ₹490 in India? ($5.69 × 86.29 = ₹490)

That's enough to buy two burgers!

But

If you are someone in India going to the US. And you have ₹230, enough to buy one burger in your country. And you convert that to USD

What???

So you get only $2.67?

Not even enough to buy one burger in the US?

This is why having one price (of a single currency, say USD) in multiple countries is not great. It gets a little wacky too if there's taxes or import duties involved. In my personal experience:-

Just look at the delivery costs!! ₹39 locally versus ₹2,126 globally. And the reason its ₹2,126 is cause the price is probably 23.58 EURO which is being put through the converter to display in INR. (The ₹650 delivery cost one is a local company that imports so the shipping is definitely lesser than if you bought from a directly from a foreign store, but still substantial!)

Official manga has become so much more affordable since viz media decided to tap into our market. But I remember a time when the only buying option was to order on a foreign store site. If you want you can factor in having to setup PayPal (which is not used here) or some equivalent to make the purchase too.

So in conclusion,

Imagine a burger

if you moralize to people in the global south about piracy youre going to hell btw. no atonement no take backsies. guaranteed hell forever permanently.

#rat rambles #stars posting #new game+#Im pretty sure I gave it a name at one point but I don't remember #its been so long since Ive thought abt their silly lil card game last time I rly did was before I called them chou Im pretty sure #its still au canon I just have had a whole lot else to develop #anyways thinking abt the community around the game and the vast majority of it being in The Country and it being yet another example of the #stability and community they lost because of the loops #just them later on in the loops finding their pocket edition in their bag and wondering what the person who brought it saw in it #also I just like thinking abt pre loops chou getting all excited and dressed up to go to an event for the game its fun #for context the game is basically a simple tile dungeon explorer thats mostly defined by the fact that when you win a dungeon youre meant #to keep the character you used and try to complete as many dungeon packs with them as you can without them dying (its a permadeath game)#events for it mostly involve cosplaying as your character and watching the longest standing characters play in high stake games #chou has a character thats been kicking for about 5 years but that's mostly because chou actively avoided moving on to more dangerous #dungeon packs becaus they got too attached and didnt want their lil guy to die #they still enjoy playing what they do play a lot and find it fun to minmax the dungeon packs they own #well they used to at least. the timeloops very much soured the game for them (as they did most things they loved before)

this image has been bothering me for a while bc like.. crowley doesn't want to dismantle the system he wants to get as far away from it as possible. yes he's disillusioned with the system but also a key part to that is how he feels like there's nothing he can do against it. tbh i'd argue that this is one of his biggest flaws

#the way he tried the 'please run away with me aziraphale :(' card TWICE. once in s1 and s2 #also the line abt him being an optimist in the book.. so interesting. fascinating. bc show crowley imo is. very prone to giving up #i think you could interpret him as an optimist in the 'it'll work out for me' way but not the 'it'll work out for what i truly want' way #it took him 6000 yrs to confess his feelings and i think part of that has to do w fear of rejection #(which um got 100% realized post season 2. fly high girl)#anyway back to the point i think neither az nor crowley are at the point where theyre willing to fight the system #in part bc of how heaven vs hell works. hell doesn't bother to disguise its evil intent. heaven operates under the belief #that everything they do is good and righteous. so it makes a lot of sense az would try to fix it and crowley would want to run #good omens #ive seen it on twitter which is why i felt like talking abt it ive seen this too many times it's finally #activated my braincell of being annoying #quick edit i shouldnt have listened to the braincell of being annoying there are ppl making this exact take in the notes sorry op

Finally got around to buying the Nikke profile stickers I want since I keep drawing dupes! Bought all the Bow Wow Paradise ones!! It was one of my fave events bc I love dogs and dog girls and Happy Zoo and ESPECIALLY Biscuit so much. As you can see, I got all the 'dog' girls as my showcase team, too, lol:

Also, as an aside, I just got a new personal record in Overclock at level 16!! Which is why I remembered I needed to edit my profile when I went to check if it changed to 16 (I think I was at 12 maybe last time they ran Overclock in the Simulation Room).
