There’s a lot of shows that have stuck with me, but the newsreader is very special to me. The relationship between Helen and Dale, the bond they have & the flaws they have together. The way the show explores Dale complicated relationship with his own sexuality. Helen mental health. I would do anything to watch for the first time again. I appreciate all the characters in this show. And this show holds a special place in my heart </3

For those of you (like me) still mourning the loss of Netflix's Inside Job - may I suggest having a binge of ABC Australia's new series OPTICS.

The office dynamics are super similar, and it's full of laughs, love as well as deeply flawed morality - but instead of targeting conspiracy theories and the Illuminati, it instead goes after the Australian media and the PR of corporate brands which is somehow....

some ep 1 thoughts:

I wasn’t expecting Helen and dale to still be friends??? It’s cool though, and sets up the main conflict of the season nicely with the lm trying to stay in good terms while their networks are competing

whatever is going on with Kay and dale is making me a little uneasy… this show often doesn’t go the way I expect it to, and from what we saw I’m lowkey expecting a romance so maybe that won’t happen??? idk, whatever happens, I trust the writers to make good story decisions, so however this turns out, I’m sure it will be great character development

I have loved rob and nolene’s plots in every season and this one is no different!!! Im really excited to see what happens with them. One of favourite scenes in the episode was them on the red carpet and rob getting asked questions about his career but nolene only being asked about her pregnancy. It was such a simple but effective way of setting up the challenges shes going face this season

It seems like they’re putting more focus on women’s experiences in the media this season, both with helen getting her own show and nolene navigating balancing her career and pregnancy. Not that they haven’t previously, but I feel like it’s more at the forefront since in the past Helen’s plots revolved more around her mental illness and nolene’s around her race. So it feels like they’re looking at different aspects of these characters not which I am very excited about

All in all I love this show so much and episode one was amazing I CANT WAIT FOR MORE!!!
