she’s messy but full of feeling
Anyways here’s my contribution to jacinter week day one: hug me
Ok in my brain this takes place after the COVID-128 thing Marissa Meyer wrote like maybe a year later or smth when they fix everything, but jacin is still studying on earth to become a doctor.
So there’s a celebratory ball on Luna for the distribution of the vaccination, and it’s going to be the first lunar ball that winter goes to without jacin, and she’s trying to not care about it but really she does and she’s sad because she really misses him. Then, he surprises her at the ball!! And,,,yeah they are in lov <3

This is actually the first fanfic I ever wrote ever. It's on Wattpad too. Made February 11th, 2021. Minor Changes.
Wolflet: Thomas(9), Michelle + Maha (twins, 8, Michelle is 3 mins older). Scar is pregnant- she doesn't know yet-
Wincin/ Jacinter: Evret (7) Solstice (5) Winter is also pregnant- she knows-
Kaider: Peony (8), Rikan (4)
Cresswell: Rampion + Astrada (8, twins, Rampion is older by 5 min)
Though it was early the afternoon in New Beijing Palace, Cress felt utterly worn out. First, she had to save Thorne from making a fool of himself in front of her friends three times today, and then she had been chosen to babysit the kids so they wouldn't get into trouble. Sighing, she flopped on one of the big couches in the lounge room and put a hand on her forehead. She already wanted the day to end, but Thorne had called everyone up to the lounge room for an "extremely important meeting."
"Owww, my elbow!" cried Winter as she walked in. She was rubbing her elbow that she had just hit on the doorframe and making pouty faces at it. And, of course, Jacin was only a few steps behind her asking her if her elbow was okay. Winter only smiled and pecked him on the cheek. Then she turned and saw Cress lounging on the couch.
"Hello, Crescent Moon!" she exclaimed after seeing her. Cress waved back at her and Jacin, receiving a smile from Winter and a grunt from Jacin. Then, Scarlet appeared out of nowhere and attacked Winter in a hug.
"Scarlet-Friend! Where have you been all day? I was getting worried that you might have gotten lost within the halls of the palace", said Winter, her smile widening further.
"Nah, it's just that the twins were extra needy today. And don't get me started on Tom" Cress flinched when Scarlet mentioned her twins, and she immediately began to think of her children. Both Scarlet and Cress were blessed with twins each, Cress's twins about a year older than Scarlets, and always had so much on their plate. Scarlet had to deal with more problems because she already had an older son named Thomas, nicknamed Tom, and Cress got the suspicion that they named their son over Wolf's strange obsession with tomatoes.
"So, what does Thorne have in store for us today?" Scarlet said, breaking away from Winter and looking Cress's way.
"I'm just as clueless as you are."
"Hmpf, I really don't want to deal wi-"
"SCARLET LOOK WHAT I FOUND!!" Wolf yelled when he barged into the room, completely ignoring Cress, Winter, and Jacin. He was carrying a red pie in his hands along with three red cupcakes. He smiled, showing his fangs as he spread out the treats he had been holding, motioning Scarlet forward. Scarlet sighed and said:
"Tomato treats."
"Mhm!"
"From the kitchens?"
"Mhm!"
"Well, they probably aren't as good as mine, so you are in for a ride," she smiled innocently as she took a bite of the tomato cupcake.
"This is actually good. What the-" Scarlet took another bite with a shocked look on her face, and the rest of her sentence was muffled. She sat down as she and Wolf exchanged awed glances, and Cress bit back a laugh. Her eyes felt droopy as she watched the couple eat tomato treats. Maybe she would close her eyes for a little while.
.............................................................................................................................................
"Cress, are you asleep?" said a soft, soothing voice. Something tapped her shoulder.
"Hmpf," she said, shifting away from the voice. She wasn't ready to open her eyes and expose them to the bright light.
"Cressssssss, waaaaake uuuuuup," sung the voice. The tapping on her shoulder transitioned to poking her shoulder.
"Leave her alone, Thorne. It's been a busy day for everyone", said a tired voice to her right.
"Well, I guess we could continue without her, though it wouldn't be the same. Only my wife could provide a shy comment about anything", said Thorne.
"How is providing a 'shy comment' related to the topic" said the tired voice. Cinder?
"I dunno."
"Idiot"
"Hey!"
"Please be quiet and let me sleep." Cress thought.
"Sorry." Wait, did she say that out loud? Gasping, she opened her eyes only to regret second after discovering the light was too bright for her eyes. She blinked against it and forced herself to look around. Thorne, Kai, and Cinder were here, along with everyone else. Except for Iko. Perhaps she was with Kinney.
Kai had his arm around Cinder and was wearing his regular Emporer attire, while Cinder wore a loose pastel blue dress with spaghetti straps but had boots that did not go with the outfit at all underneath. She also had grease stains on the dress here and there. No wonder Iko didn't come; she would've thrown a fit! Thorne wore his signature leather jacket with a brown shirt underneath and jeans. He gave her a smile that never ceased to make her heart flutter.
"SHE HAS AWOKEN!" He exclaimed while jumping up and calling for everyone's attention.
"Anyways, the reason I called for this meeting was to talk about our children," he said with a smirk.
"Why would you want to talk about our children" Scarlet called out, her hands stuffed into her red hoodie. Wolf bought her another hoodie as a wedding gift and had it custom-made, so it said "Alpha" in gold cursive letters on the collarbone. It was quite lovely.
"Well, they are coming around the age where they start to view their peers romantically, so we need to discuss that." Nobody said a word. Cress gaped at Thorne with disbelief. The twins were 8!
"What the actual hell Thorne," said Cinder. "They are eight years old." Cinder stole the words out of Cress's mind.
"Except for Tom, he's nine and a half," Thorne said with a smirk. Cinder facepalmed, muttering something about 'missing brain cells.'
"Anyways, I can tell that Rampion is going to end up just like me, a handsome captain with ladies lining up to be his girlfriend."
"What about Astra?" Asked Cress. "You always forget about Astra."
"I was getting there. Astra's going t be a beautiful girl that can steal any man's heart with just one smile." Cress snorted. Astra was indeed beautiful, with her long blonde hair and eyes as blue as the sky, freckles all over her face, and pale skin, but she was too shy to say anything, so it might be hard for her to put herself out there. On the other hand, Rampion took after his father's personality, so he was a bit arrogant and had paler eyes with a bit darker skin since he loved to go outside a lot. But his and Astra's hair was the same color, making them look more like twins.
"Wait, but why are we talking about our children getting romantically involved again?" Asked Kai. "Aren't they a bit... well, young?"
"Because, your Kai-ness, I've seen the way Peony blushes around Rampion, and Rampion is always trying to impress her. Those Linh girls can't seem to get their eyes off of us Thorne men." Thorne shrugged but made the mistake of closing his eyes because he was hit in the face with Cinder's boot when he did.
"OWWW, JEEZ CINDER, IT WAS A JOKE," Thorne said, rubbing his face. Thorne winced from the boot as the silence from before was filled with laughter. Cinder looked satisfied.
"Are you guys hungry? Because I am. Is there any food-" Wolf was cut off when the doors to the lounge swished open. Two girls around the same height walked in, one with green eyes and flaming red straight hair, the other with brownish-greenish eyes with unruly brown hair. Michelle and Maha Benoit-Kesley. Michelle with the red hair. Maha with he brown.
"You know Maha; I thought we could do a huge prank at the Peace Ball. It will be awe-" Maha's hand came straight over Michelle's mouth when she realized who was in the lounge. She blushed furiously and looked away as if not to raise suspicion. Michelle, too realized what was happening and tried to cover up.
"Hey Ma' and Pa'" Michelle said innocently, thick with a french accent. The lounge doors opened again, and a girl about the same age as the twins came in, hauling a boy younger than her with an annoyed expression. She had copper-brown eyes with dark brown hair that hung past her shoulders; you would almost think it was black. The boy had a perfect combination of Cinder's and Kai's eyes but had Cinders hair with Kai's features.
"Rikan's annoying," Peony complained to her parents. Rikan jerked away from Peony's grasp and looked around.
"Hi, Uncle Thorne!" He said, spotting Thorne standing in the middle of everyone. Rikan smiled, showing a missing front top tooth.
"Rikan, my man!" Thorne replied, picking Rikan up and tickling him. Rikan laughed and tried to get away while begging his uncle to stop, but Thorne didn't. The doors opened again, showing a girl with the palest blue eyes, the curliest blonde, and ashen skin. She smiled, searching the crowd for someone specific before her eyes landed on Winter. She cradled the teddy bear she had in her arm and said:
"Mommy! Teddy and I missed you!" She said before running up to Winters open arms.
"Sol, love, I am s glad to be reunited with you and Teddy!" Winter said.
"Hey Solstice, did you miss your Auntie Scar by any chance?" Scarlet interrupted.
"Auntie Scarlet, yay! Hi Uncle Wolf. Hi Auntie Cress. Hi Uncle Kai. Hi Au- DADDY!!!" the 5-year-old leaped out Winter's arm and ran up to Jacin. Jacin gladly picked her up. "HIII!!"
"Hey, Sol, how's Teddy doing?"
"Good"
"That's good."
"Umm, rude. What about the rest of us, Sol?" Thorne said. Jacin scowled, Scarlet rolled her eyes, and Cinder face-palmed the second time that day.
"Sowwy. Hy Uncle Thorne. Hi Auntie Cinder. Everyone else I already said hi to." Solstice looked proud of herself and slowly peeled of Jacin so Winter could cradle her.
"Oh my stars, Rampion, do you know when to be quiet. I swear I will throw out the palace myself."
"That wasn't nice, Evret. I'm sure someone would save me."
"I seriously doubt it."
Two boys and a girl had entered the lounge room, the boys having an irritated expression on their face and the girl just skipping around without a care in the world. The boy named Evret had dark brown skin that looked smooth to the touch, with straight dark hair that hung past his ears. On the other hand, Rampion seemed very pale and had blonde hair styled similarly to the Captains. Finally, the girl had blonde hair that hung well past her knees and desperately needed a haircut. Iko followed close behind with her blue braids over her shoulder. She looked relieved, as if she just finished a task.
"You're just jealous that I have better hair," said Rampion with a smug expression.
"Am not," Evret replied defensively.
"Am too."
"AM NOT"
"AM TOO- hey guys. Hi Peony" At those words, Peony blushed from where she was standing and looked down to the ground.
"FIFTY UNIVS ON PEONY AND RAMPION" Thorne yelled all of a sudden. Cress jumped at least 5 feet from her seat.
"THORNE, YOU ARE NOT BETTING ON OUR CHILDREN!" Screamed Cinder, getting ready to throw another shoe.
"Oooooh, Uncle Thorne, you better watch out," Said a smiling Peony. Everyone laughed except for Cinder, who had a deathly glare on her face, and Thorne looked scared for his life.
"OHMYSTARSCINDERWHATTHESPADESAREYOUWEARINGTHATDOESNOTGOWITHTHEOUTFITTAKEITOFFRIGHTNOW!" Screeched Iko, who looked like she was going to faint. Cinder Ignored her and continued to harass Thorne until Iko took the boot from her hands and dragged her away to get changed. Kai looked very confused when everything settled down, and he was not the only one.
"Cinder does have a point; you shouldn't bet on your children. What if they choose someone else. That's 50 univs gone from your wallet." Scarlet said at last.
"Wait, I'm so confused; what did Dad bet on me?" Asked Rampion.
"Nothing, sweetie, your Father is just being weird," Cress replied, grabbing her son and letting him sit in her lap. "Besides, how do you know what the word 'bet' is?"
"I don't."
"Well, let's keep it that way."
"Seriously though, I think I'm right," Thorne said.
"Carswell!"
"Just think about it," And she did think about it. And she secretly liked her son with Cinders daughter. She kissed Rampions head once before dozing off to sleep again, without anyone waking her up this time.
A/N: the line “Those Linh girls can't seem to get their eyes off of us Thorne men” was from a pinterest post I found but I couldn’t find the original poster.

WORTHY OF THE TITLE
Note: And here is my first fic for tlc ship weeks, @kaiderforever. Okay so I know it’s jacinter week, but I won’t be here for kaider week, so I’m posting the kaider stuff now. No offense to jacinter, but enjoy this crappy kaider one shot.
CHANNARY BLACKBURN HUMMED as she arranged her daughters hair. Today was an important day — today was the day Princess Selene and Prince Kai would be meeting since their marriage arrangement. Selene had talked to Kai plenty over comms, but it was different than meeting him in person. It was as terrifying as it was exciting.
“Are you excited to meet him?” Channary asked, her glee barely contained. Sometimes Selene wondered who was more excited to meet Kai — her, or her mother.
“He’s just a boy.”
“A boy that you’ve been staying up all night talking to,” said Cress Darnel, one of Selene’s friends, from across the room. Her and Winter Hayle were putting together Selene’s outfit. Usually, servants would have helped with this, but her friends had declared they would be the only ones helping her prepare, and no one had argued.
“Just making sure he’ll be a good ruler,” Selene said, hissing as her mother pulled on her hair.
“Sorry, dear, almost done,” her mother said.
“Is all this necessary?” Cress asked. “Can’t you just use your glamour?”
Cress was a Shell, so she didn’t have the gift, but she understood how important it could be.
“Glamours shouldn’t be used for everything,” said Winter.
Channary hummed in agreement. “And I want Prince Kai’s first impression of my Selene to be genuine.”
Selene sighed. The marriage alliance was important, but everyone was treating it like she was about to meet her soulmate. Sure, Kai was nice, and she liked him well enough, but she didn’t think they’d fall in love. Maybe in another life.
“And . . . your hair is done,” Channary said, releasing her hands.
Selene turned her hair, examining herself in the mirror. Half her hair was braided into an intricate crown, and the rest was flowing around her shoulders.
“Now it’s time for makeup,” her mother exclaimed.
Selene groaned, but twisted around in her seat anyway.
BY THE TIME her makeover was over, Selene looked like a princess worthy of the title. Her makeup was simple, mostly bringing out her eyes. The skirt of her silver gown fell around her in waves that seemed to ripple as she moved. The bodice hugged her body tightly, and the sleeves draped off her shoulders.
“Oh Selene, you look beautiful!” Cress squealed.
“Like a real princess!” Winter added.
“I am a real princess,” Selene reminded her friend.
“A more princess princess,” Winter corrected, earning a laugh.
“Well, it’s time to go greet Emperor Rikan and Prince Kai,” Channary said.
Selene nodded and steeled her nerves. She could do this.
THE EMPEROR AND Prince of the Eastern Commonwealth were waiting in a sitting room overlooking Artemisia Lake. The room had couches and chairs lining the walls, circling a large rug. The room was typically used for greeting guests, and these guests were no different.
Selene entered the room behind her mother. Cress and Winter, not being royalty, weren’t allowed in. The best they could do was wait outside the room with the guards.
Channary and Rikan went through their generic greetings that Selene didn’t pay attention to. Instead, her attention was drawn to Kai, who was standing behind his father. He was wearing a loose, long sleeved white shirt, black pants, and dress shoes. It was about as casual as fancy clothes got. Selene wondered if he had had to fight his father or stylist to let him wear that.
Kai caught her eye and grinned, and Selene immediately blushed. Damnit.
“Well, we’ll leave you alone and let you two get to know each other,” Rikan said, smiling at the two of them.
Selene watched in silence as her mother and the emperor left.
She turned back to Kai. “I feel like I overdressed.”
Kai laughed. “You look beautiful.”
“So do you,” Selene said. “I — I mean — you don’t look too bad yourself.”
“Hey, I don’t see why I can’t be beautiful either.” Kai laughed. “But really, I’m not wearing much. I didn’t get all dressed up like you.”
“Trust me, I didn’t want to. But my mother and friends practically kidnapped me and forced me to.”
Kai grinned. “Sounds like some nice friends.”
“The best, actually.”
Kai sighed, and sat on one of the couches. “I wish I had many friends. Most of the people I meet are nobles that are kind of annoying.”
Selene sat next to Kai. “Oh, I hate interacting with the aristocracy sometimes. Winter’s father is a royal guard, and her mother is a seamstress. Cress is a Shell, and her father is a doctor.”
“What about her mother?”
“Dunno. She never talks about her.”
“Huh,” was all Kai said. “You’re smart, making friends with people that aren’t too involved with politics.”
“So you think I’m smart, then?”
“The smartest.”
Selene laughed. Maybe this alliance wouldn’t be so bad.

For tlc ship week. Hopefully it works out.
Jacinter, day one.
Hug me
Fingers crossed.
____________ ____________
Hug Me
Winter watched the clock tick. First seconds, then minutes, then hours. She sighed. Where was he? She felt the couch shift as Ryu jumped on. Jacin hated when he was on the couch. Ryu's fur got everywhere.
Her hands splayed on the pillow in her lap. Her ring gleaming up at her from her finger. The day he proposed she felt like she could take flight, like a bird gliding on the wind. She loved the stone, the color, the promise. Everything. Most of all, she loved the small, barely noticable, carved heart on the inside of the ring. A small way of saying his heart was hers.
Right?
She never questioned, never. Never would. Recently though, her mind would plague her with thoughts about his loyalty. He would be gone so long, almost all night sometimes. She knew it was stupid. How could love be proven? Trust. Trust was the key. She shouldn't feel like this.
Winter banished the thoughts from her mind, refusing to give them the time of day. Or night. She got up from the couch. Heading to the kitchen, she saw Ryu behind her. She felt his soft fur on the back of her calves, tickling her skin. The kettle clinked against the stovetop. Her hands guiding the metal object to its new location before turning the stove on. She sat at the kitchen's island and laid her head down on her crossed arms.
The sound of the kettle lulling her to her thoughts. She sighed. Her emotions still a tangled ball. She tried to sort through them by color. Giddiness at being his fiancee was yellow. Sadness at his being gone was blue. Anger at her doubting thoughts was red. Her loneliness was gray. Her fear at his not wanting her was purple. Her love for him was a vibrant pink. Along with many other unnamed emotions. So in conclusion, she was feeling Magenta.
'Magenta' was what she called it when she was feeling everything at once. A way of knowing what your feeling when feeling everything. She and Cinder came up with it a long time ago. Childish maybe, but Winter couldn't really care. It was a precious memory.
Her thoughts were interrupted by the whistle of the kettle. She slid her arms off the counter and walked to the stove. She lifted it off the burner and set on the cool one beside it. She grabbed a cup and tea pot from the cabinet above her and set them on the counter. Reaching above the coffee machine she grabbed a metal tin that said tea leaves, inside was a box that held sweet smelling leaves. Her favorite. The small box had words and labels written on it n a language she didn't recognize.
She poured the hot water into the light green pot, steam emitted from the top. The hot water covered the leaves. The pot was decorated in small yellow flowers that ran from the top to the bottom in a vine like fashion. The smell of sweetness and flavor curled in the air. Her eyes closed and she breathed in the essence. Comfort.
She left the hot beverage to steep in the kitchen while she headed to their shared room to grab a blanket and stuffed animal. It would be a long night.
She entered into the dark room and the first scent that hit her was his. She sighed again. She missed him.
She grabbed his sweatshirt, a blanket, and a stuffed animal he gave her. Her heart ached. She really missed him. She headed back to the living room and pulled on his sweatshirt. Setting up a little sitting fort with the blankets and pillows. She'll be awake for awhile.
She went to the kitchen and was about to reach for the tea pot when a jangling of keys reached her ears. Ryu, laying down at the foot of the couch, lifted his head up in recognition.
Jacin was home.
Winter heard the door open and shut quietly. The sound of shoes being kicked off and a coat being hung up reached her ears. She poked her head out of the doorway of the kitchen to meet a familiar head of blond hair. Jacin looked up from the ground and met her gaze.
"What are you doing up?" He asked quietly.
"Waiting for you." The statement was simple but effective. His eyes softened and Winter caught the slight watering of his eyes. She reached out to him and grasped his hand. He immediately turned his and her hand to his chest. His eyes closed and he let out a breath. She felt a hot drop of water hit her hand and she didn't hesitate to pull him close. His forehead rested on her shoulder and her free hand tangled in his blonde locks. He wrapped his arms around her waist and brought her close.
She didn't say anything for a long time, relishing in the rawness of the moment. Such times were rare with Jacin, but they meant everything. She kissed the crown of his head tenderly. He sighed almost inaudibly. Finally regaining some control.
"Want some tea?" She asked softly. Her sweet voice sending a wave of warmth through him.
He nodded his head and followed her to the couch. Her hand guiding him. He sat down in the swirl of blankets and pillows, waiting for Winter to come back.
She came back with two cups of tea. It was then that he noticed she was adorned in his sweatshirt. Her hair was down and it bounced as she walked back.
She sat down next to him and set the tea on the coffee table in front of them. She grabbed his hand and brought it to her lips and kissed gently. His ears tinged with a slight pink.
"Need anything else, my love?" She smiled warmly against his knuckles.
"Hug me." He said meekly. The feeling of helplessness rising in his chest.
She brought him close and lied his head on her chest. Her arms wrapped around his shoulders and hugged him tightly. Her light humming comforting his tired heart, protecting him from the world.

tlc ship week day one - hug me (jacinter)
for @kaiderforever’s tlc ship week, a jacinter one shot with the prompt “hug me.” this takes place some time after the covid short story that marissa meyer published, with jacin working as a doctor and the rest of the crew quarantining on the rampion. i hope you enjoy it!
hug me
“i miss jacin,” winter said for what felt like the thousandth time. the first few weeks, everyone was loving and supportive. later, while their support never wavered, winter started to worry that they were tired of it. there wasn’t much basis for it, she knew. just a slightly clenched jaw here, an irritated glance there, the vaguest scent of discomfort and exhaustion in the air.
“i know,” cinder repeated. “but he’s gonna come home soon. you know how important it is for him to be working right now, and he’s one of the best doctors down there,”
“great timing for him to pursue his passion,” scarlet muttered next to cinder. winter pretended not to hear, but her wounded heart must have made an appearance, as cinder shoved scarlet.
“ow!” she glared at cinder. “stop using your metal arm. that’s cheating,” she complained. cinder glared back at her, and shot a pointed glance in winters direction. scarlet grimaced - whether at winter’s pain or at her own insensitivity, winter couldn’t be sure - and apologized.
“sorry,” she muttered. winter nodded in way of apology, unable to muster up the energy to do more. she saw the others exchange worried glances.
“jacin will be home soon,” cinder repeated, the empty promise falling on winter’s ears.
she could see her friends struggling, unable to help her, and as scarlet rubbed her temple, thorne walked in.
“winter, i have a present for you,”
she nodded weakly, trying to show her enthusiasm.
“you do?” cinder frowned.
wordlessly, the door opened.
winter stopped breathing.
“jacin?”
jacin raised his eyebrow. i’m happy to see you too, it said. suddenly, the room was empty, the door closing behind scarlet.
“ winter,” jacin breathed.
“jacin,” she said, her tone matching his. for a quiet, taut moment, they stood like that, the space between them doomed to stay empty. then jacin walked towards her until they were a breath apart.
“they said you haven’t been sleeping,”
“i haven’t “ she whispered.
“how can i help?”
winter had her answer ready, the words spilling out of her. “hug me,”
jacin obliged, and as she buried her face in his chest, felt his hands against her back and his lips on her hair, she knew that she had never felt safer.
