相機是同名的英國製造商於1937年所推出，迄今已經超過80年。由於當初出品時即屬限量精品，鮮少人知，卓越的設���和工藝卻沒有因為過高的知名度而導致炒作。最主要是攝影光學機械品的藏家，大多以機械工藝精湛的德系品牌為主，對於英國品牌沒有甚麼概念。而即便些許職業攝影者對高階的瑞士相機品牌如Sinar(仙娜)和Alpa(阿爾帕)有使用上的經驗，卻也很少有人知道Compass。而這款康百世相機卻是結合英國設計，瑞士製造的傑出作品。
