          his lips curled into an amused smirk,    ❛ what EVER do you mean? ❜    hux would freely admit it, he was surprised such an indecent word could ever escape her lips. she seemed so good, so… innocent. it intrigued him. more so that he got THIS reaction. barely contained resentment. he basked in it.

He never thought he would ever find himself on a desert planet again and yet here he was, navigating the sands, looking for someone. Luke couldn’t fully explain why, but he had been drawn to Jakku by the Force. Perhaps it was for one last student for him to teach for his New Jedi Order. He had already had thirteen, a good number, but it seemed the Force wanted him to find one more.

Luke sighed, before taking a sip of water from his canteen to refresh himself. Once refreshed from the desert heat, he reached out in the Force, willing it to show him what it had wanted him to find. It took him but a moment before he sensed it, a Force sensitivity of great power that matched Ben’s. It was still dormant, needing to be awakened, but he would guide the individual to achieve their full potential.

He began to walk, following his sense of the Force User. Their Force sensitivity was almost magnetic to him, pulling him towards them.

Luke soon found himself in a town in this backwater planet. Humans and other beings worked there and as he walked, he noticed a whole slew of them that appeared to have taken on work as scavengers, no doubt collecting from the remains of the last battle against the Empire that had occurred on their sands.

That was when he spotted her, the one who he sought, a young girl in light colored clothing. She looked half starved, the poor thing. He quickly made his way towards her, seeming to be ignored by most of the people, although he was eyed by a few unsavory characters who no doubt wanted to take anything of value from him.

He soon stood in front of Rey and quickly reached intp his robes to pull out a green nutrition bar, which he offered to her.

“Here. Take this. A growing girl like you needs to eat.” Luke told her kindly. And she would eat. As soon as he brought her back to his temple to train, he would ensure she got on a steady, healthy diet.

“ I’m not going to lie I thought about it, but that would have been a little extreme don’t you think? ”

“Weak.” She says nonchalantly before flipping to the next page of her magazine. “You should’ve done it, now you won’t get a second chance. I know how much you hate him.”

Anger filled him like never before. It was such a consuming emotion in that moment that he found himself listening to the horrid voice in his head. The voice that wanted him, manipulating him. The teenager was on his bed, pounding harshly at his pillow, the few objects he had collected over the years to show his individuality were fell off shelves. Ben realized that punching the pillow wasn’t enough. He needed more, to pierce something, to make it hurt and bleed.

He held out his hand and his lightsaber immediately flew to it. The lightsaber that had once been his grandfathers and his uncle’s before being passed down to him. He was about to activate it when he felt himself being thrust backwards, as if he had been kicked hard in the stomach. He fell backwards, his lightsaber falling out of his grasp and then everything went black for a while.

When he woke up, he found himself not in his room at his uncle’s temple, but some place new. Some place he shouldn’t be. At least it was shaded here from the high growing trees with vibrant leafs.

Ben thought he heard something and tried to get himself up. He managed to roll himself on his stomach and pressed with his hands on the ground to get himself up. He managed to stand up for half a second, before falling back to the ground, his stomach unsettled.

He took in and let out a breath, knowing that he didn’t have a lot of time. He held out his hand, ready to use the Force to lift some rocks off the ground to protect himself, if need be. 

“Show yourself!” He cried out. He didn’t feel good, but he wouldn’t let himself be killed.

He stood on the cliff, thankful that he had made there just before she did. His carefully constructed plan would not work if the girl had come to the island and saw that he was not there and packed up to leave before he had come there. Luke could sense her from the moment she had entered the planet’s atmosphere, the Force around her like a beacon of light in an ocean of darkness. It was magnetic to him and he found himself drawn to the Force around her, not necessarily because of her raw, untrained power, but because she was full of light when he had been constantly surrounded by the dark side for years.

When he felt her presence behind him, he turned to face her, removing his hood in an introduction of sorts.

“Welcome, Rey.” He greeted. “Come. We must begin your training immediately. You have a lot to learn and little time in which to do it. The Resistance needs you for they are running on fumes right now, I suspect.”

That’s... Actually hitting very close. Over the years, Qui-Gon got jaded and started expecting less and less for people to actually be humane. That made him pretty dismissive and arrogant (in a “I’m the only good guy left” kind of way), so yeah, that could very well be his downfall.
