Project 3

After picking Postmodernism as a philosophy to study, I noticed a parallel in biblical paradoxes. From biblical paradoxes, I noticed a consistency in humility being exalted. Wanting friends over family, fruits over seeds and fish rather than being taught how to fish. So I chose to show how there can be extraordinary things found in the ordinary. 

First example is the cover of the magazine (X)O Magazine 2019

Img 2.: Protected Fighter. We do this often, want to have defence mechanisms learned from the safety and protection provided for us. It makes sense of just in case but it also destroys the protection provided. Ie. Rich American Guy, who may want to learn military tactics and soon the protection he had is insufficient so he chooses to go overseas and fight. Circumstance changed to fit where his mind was- in fear or danger. 

*So here is a subject covered in horns and thorns (defence) behind bubble wrap (protection).

Img 4.: “Everything is up Here”. This came from the social media culture and Western culture in general that will continually encourage you to go up on a journey, climb the social or economic ladder, etc. But that road becomes lonely though they will continually tell everyone “come up here too, its great!” and though in that claim/ request, we see the true loneliness in it all. Like the phrase “misery loves company.”

*raises hand* I admit that I can be a little passionate about what I believe in. Im not always slow to wrath so to speak. However, I have been working on it with prayer, fasting and faith walking. Honestly taking time to respond has proven beneficial. It allows God to truly step in, give me understanding, and wisdom on both things im passionate about and especially those things that im not well versed on... patience is the key... QUICK TO LISTEN. We must pause and set aside our opinions first. Listening is a sign of care, selflessness and love for others as we prioritize others over ourselves. SLOW TO SPEAK. We do not let our words out without thought. We contemplate, get enough and correct information before airing our thoughts. We do not consider our opinions better than that of others. We consider the possibility that we could be wrong in our own judgment and perception. SLOW TO ANGER. We control our emotions and not allow it to rule over our actions. We must recognize that our heart is deceitful, selfish most of the time therefore we cannot always put our trust into it. All of these are challenging, impossible I may say. But when we have Christ in our lives and we have seen His example and how He demonstrated love to it's perfection, we will continuously strive to be like Him. So even if it's impossible, we will, slowly, day by day, transform to His likeness and be able to truly love. #James1v19
