He definitely has to duck for doors. He’s used to the architecture of the Hollow which was majority tall and grand. I think Diasomia is pretty alright with grand heights of doorways. He definitely has to duck in the normal school buildings.

Chronicles of Arla Volume 2: Introduction Long ago, a tempest Goddess fell from the womb of Nothing. As she fell, she created the Arlan teal sky, the blazing sun, and azure warm oceans. Her name was Skyra. The Goddess of the Skies, Oceans, and Healing. Mother of Light. With the Goddess Fer, together they transformed Arla into a lush paradise. 

Once the magical world of Arla was fully formed, Skyra marked her territory and claimed the Southern coastline of the mainland. However, that wasn’t enough for Skyra. So one day, she went to Fer and asked for a favor. For Fer to create Skyra a private little isle…directly across the Southern coastline. Fer granted her favor…in exchange for a sphere of light.

Today, Skyra’s kingdom, the Kingdom of Stars, Light, and Mists, not only encompasses the private isle and Southern coastline, but also the entire Southeastern region. A history of conquering resulted in the expansion of this bloodthirsty kingdom…which started 48 years after the Gods departure. The Incarnates of Skyra, Blood Incarnates they are called, beings blessed with the powers of the Goddess, became hungry for power and glory, and life turned for the worst for Arlans north of the Isle. The age of conquest, also known as The Great Mushrooming, began. 

First fell the small kingdom once led by the Arlan Goddess of Judgement and Retribution, Reyna. An easy defeat for King Jaspar. Once the quick battle was over, Jaspar turned his attention to the Kingdom of Desire, ruled by the Ascended Incarnate of the Goddess Desire. A surprising struggle, but not a failure, the war with Desire was bloody and sinister. Desire’s cruel power to get into the minds of everyone resulted in a brief period of cannibalism among the Isle’s army. But after two and a half years, with the help of another Incarnate from the West, the Incarnate of Desire was captured, and her kingdom fell. But to a surprise to all, to appease newly conquered subjects and make the transition easier, the Ascended Incarnate of Desire was initiated into the Royal Council of the Isle and given the title of Pariesa…meaning twice from command. But underneath it all, it was a ploy to keep the Incarnate close. 

Unfortunately, the war with the Kingdom of Desire drained the Isle. Jaspar, reluctantly, put a pause on conquest and rested for the remainder of his reign. 

Thirty one years later, the conquest resumed and the blooming Gardenia Kingdom ruled by the Ascended Incarnate of the Goddess Fer named Yinne fell next. Yinne and her kingdom fought long and hard against Queen Lira, the Blood Queen. But once Lira took residence in the skies, it was over for Yinne. And to ensure total control, Lira forced Yinne to marry her second daughter, Ginna, unifying the kingdoms and installing their bloodline on that throne. This unification lasted until The Hallow War.

After the conquest of Gardenia, the Isle turned their attention towards the formidable Mountains. Quickly, they found they were no match for Queen Rho and the power of Trykar. The Isle Army led by King Meno suffered a humiliating defeat. For King Meno learned, he was not the only one who could take to the skies. The Great Mushrooming finally came to an end and the Isle had to settle for the Southeastern region of Arla. 

Today, the Kingdom of Stars, Light, and Mists, also known as the Isle Kingdom, is split into three provinces: Thalassia, Araqu, and Benna. 

Benna is a Southeastern coastal province, the third biggest in Arla. The coastline is dotted with rock pools and salmon colored coarse sand. In Northern Benna, the region has always been known for its cream colored houses with sapphire clay roof tiles, while Southern Benna has been known for its hypnotizing and provocative gatherings. Today, Benna is more of a closed military zone. During Queen Arra’s reign, she closed the province’s doors to outsiders from the West after The Dusting, a mystical bombing that injured several members of the Isle army,  carried out by the Separationists, a rebellious political movement calling for independence from the Isle. After the Hallow War, after the Queen of the Isle Shioban made a costly mistake, the movement grew astronomically in strength and numbers. Now, most of the Isle’s military resources are used to calm the chaos in Benna.

South of Benna, there is Araqu…the biggest coastal province in Arla, the land Skyra claimed first. Araqu encompasses the entire Southern coastline in Arla. A vibrant coastal paradise where Islers reside in wooden homes and spend their nights in lagoons. Upon waking, many adults leave their brightly painted and fragrant homes and head to a lapidary workshop or spring where they work until sunset. Gem trade is the second most important trade activity in the Isle followed by the water trade. 

Araqu is home to countless of vibrant decorated lapidary workshops, taverns, healing springs, and places of worship. Places of worship are easily identified by their elongated geometric stained glass windows and blue walls with white domes, while Islers homes are defined by their vibrant painted doors, thick white walls, inner courtyards, and taupe colored concrete roof tiles. 

And then there’s Thalassia, the island off the Southern coast. Compared to the outside, Thalassia is a visual wonder. Fountains, waterfalls, pools, and ice sculptures could be found everywhere. And at the center was the Grand Palace of the Isle. Its exterior, dressed in a cooling, light blue, could be seen by those far in the mountains. Inside, one would find twenty two rooms, with half containing a pool. Skyra was often thirsty for water. 

But it is in the Grand Natatorium where just a peek inside takes one breath away. There, the walls are a rich green, covered in blue and white flowers where slithering snakes slither around. In the center of the room, one would find a very shallow, ice cold pool. Above it, just hanging below the teal stained glass ceiling, sun shaped and star shaped lanterns levitate. The sun shaped lanterns, when simultaneously lit with the light of Skyra, produce a brightness that would blind the average Arlan, while the star shaped lanterns produce a green glow, drowning the ceiling and walls in star shaped shadows at night.

Once the home of Skyra, the palace is now the home to her Incarnate. Today, that title belongs to Sharra. In her Incarnate form, no longer one sees the jet black colored hair and amber eyes Skyra was born with, instead, one would see metallic, turquoise hair and green eyes. With the essence of Skyra, Sharra possessed the power of control over the skies, oceans, and light. But she didn’t want it. 

Unlike her predecessors, Sharra did not care much for politics. She didn’t care much about being a royal at all, in fact. She didn’t want to inherit a broken kingdom, but she had no other choice. It was Sharra’s mother, Arra, who first inherited the kingdom at the end of the war. Arra had to quickly clean up Shioban’s mess. As she did, she neglected her eldest child and withdrew from her. But Arra was burdened with great responsibility. The Hallow War destroyed the standing of the Isle Kingdom. Queen Shioban’s mistake nearly annihilated them all.  The West both feared and condemned the Isle, while the Northern Mountains’ hatred grew stronger. 

Now here was Sharra, forced to continue to rebuild a once glorious kingdom from the darkness in which Shioban drowned it in, fend off separationists, and control the serpent abominations that lurk in the warm waters and desperate to return to the surface. But just like Mesyla and the Mountains, troubled things await for Sharra….the new master of the tides and skies.

THE BLESSINGS OF EPIPHANY

FOR FAMILIES WHO PRACTICE TRADITIONS

At Mass celebrated on January 6th, it is customary for the Celebrant to bless water and chalk in honor of The Epiphany. When Mass is over, you will bring Epiphany Water and your blessed chalk home with you. Bring a small container in which to transport your holy water and chalk.

When you get home, and the family gathers to say the following Epiphany prayers it is good to meditate on the meaning of the Epiphany water and chalk and what they signify. Other than a blessing to protect your home, the Epiphany water (afterwards to be used as regular Holy Water), recalls the waters of the Jordan, and is a visible reminder of Christ’s Divinity, of Jesus' revealing Himself as God at His Baptism, when were heard the words from the Father: “This is My beloved Son, in Whom I am well pleased.” The chalk announces the visit of the three Magis. This rite of blessing the home - led by a priest, if possible, or the head of the house if no priest is available - goes like this:

Upon entering the house:

Head of the house: Peace be to this house. All: And to all who dwell herein. Head: From the east came the Magi to Bethlehem to Adore the Lord; and opening their treasures they offered precious gifts: gold for the great King, incense for the true God, and myrrh in symbol of His burial

During the Magnificat, the rooms are sprinkled with holy water and incensed.

All: My soul doth magnify the Lord, and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior. For He hath regarded the humility of His hand maiden. For behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. For He that is mighty hath done great things to me, and holy is His Name. And His Mercy is from generation unto generations upon them that fear Him. He hath shewed might in His arm, He hath scattered the proud in the conceit of their heart. He hath put down the mighty from their seat, and hath exalted the humble. He hath filled the hungry with good things, and the rich He hath sent empty away. He hath received Israel, His servant, being mindful of His mercy. As He spoke to our Fathers, Abraham and His seed forever..

After this is completed:

All: Bringing gold and frankincense

Head: O Lord, hear my prayer

Head: Let us pray. O God, who by the guidance of a star didst on this day manifest Thine only-begotten Son to the Gentiles, Mercifully grant that we who know Thee by faith may also attain the vision of Thy glorious majesty. Through Christ our Lord.

All: Amen.

Head: Be enlightened, be enlightened, O Jerusalem, for thy Light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee-Jesus Christ born of the Virgin Mary.

All: And the Gentiles shall walk in thy light and kings in the splendor of thy rising, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon thee.

Head: Let us pray. Bless, O Lord God almighty, this home, that in it there may be health, purity, the strength of victory, humility, goodness and mercy, the fulfillment of Thy law, the thanksgiving to God the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. And may this blessing remain upon this home and upon all who dwell herein. Through Christ our Lord.

All: Amen.

Take the blessed chalk and first write the initials of the three Wise Men, connected with Crosses, over the inside of your front door (on the lintel, if possible). Then write the year, breaking up the numbers and the year so that they fall on both sides of the initials. It should look like this:

With the “20” being the millennium and century, the “C” standing for the first Wise Man, Caspar, the “M” standing for Melchior, the “B” standing for Balthasar, and the “12” standing for the decade and year. It is also popularly believed that the Kings’ initials also stand for “Christus mansionem benedicat” (“Christ bless this house”).

Note that some write the first Wise Man’s name as “Gaspar,” “Kasper,” or “Jaspar,” so the initials would be “G+M+B” or “K+M+B” or “J+M+B.” In any case, these initials over our doorway serve to remind us of who the Magi saw and how they saw Him. They remind us to adore Him as they did. The chalk markings remain over the door until Pentecost.

It is a popular custom among some people that all who enter or re-enter their home for the first time after the blessing should step with their right foot across the threshold so as to start things off “on the right foot.”

It is customary in some religious orders to choose a new patron Saint on this day for the coming year. Families can also do this, choosing a new Saint by designating someone (e.g., head of the house, etc.) to select the new Patron. This can also be done by drawing lots, having family members write down their choices and choosing a Saint at random, allowing the person who presents the best argument for a particular Saint, etc. It would be very beneficial if the person who chooses the patron Saint, shares that information with the rest of the family. This could be done by researching information and finding art work depicting the life of the saint that has been chosen.

In Rome today, a miraculous image of Our Lord as Divine Infant, Il Santo Bambino di Ara Coeli, is honored, after having been brought out from its home in the Church of Santa Maria di Ara Coeli on the Capitoline Hill in Rome on Christmas Eve to be revered by the Roman people.

When the Octave of the Epiphany (13 January, which is the Feast of the Baptism of Our Lord is concluded), the feeling of Christmastide begins to wane. It is either January 6, or 13th that some people take down their Christmas decorations, though many wait until the eve of Candlemas on February 2.

Though the Season of Christmas liturgically ends with the Octave of the Epiphany, January 13, the celebration of Christ’s entry into the world and His childhood doesn’t truly end until Candlemas (also known as “The Feast of the Presentation and Purification) when we celebrate Christ’s being presented in the Temple and Mary’s Purification.

ANOTHER EPIPHANY HOUSE BLESSING

Taking a piece of Blessed chalk the following prayer is said by a priest, or by the head of the home or senior member of the family, at the main entrance to the house. All family members should be present.

Let us pray:

Hear us, O Holy Lord, Father Almighty, Eternal God, and send Thy Holy Angel from heaven to watch over, cherish, protect, be with, and defend all who live in this house. We call upon Thy Saints: Casper [Gaspar], Melchior and Baltazar, to protect this family and this home from every harm and danger, and we place the marks of their holy names on the doors of this home to remain there as a constant reminder to us and to all who enter here that this house is truly a house of the Lord.

(now write with the blessed chalk over the door:)

O God, make the door of this house wide enough to receive all who need human love and companionship, narrow enough to shut out all envy, pride and strife. Make its threshold smooth enough to be no stumbling block to children, nor to straying feet, but rugged and strong enough to turn back the Tempter's power. I actually like how they came out this time. Although the sims did not have a skintone to match Salem. It’s still too saturated but it’s the best they had.

Jaspar is glad he got away from his family. He was suffocated. It was harmful. It’s better now that he’s away.

He doesn’t need the money.

He can make it on his own. He can make it with Salem. Their apartment may not be the best, but at least they’re safe and together. Maybe meals are tight but.. it feels more filling because they’re together. He doesn’t need his family.

He doesn’t need the money.

But then he’ll see Salem’s face, his body language when he’s uncomfortable. When the binder isn’t enough. Jaspar loves Salem’s smile but he hates the one he gets when Salem pretends he isn’t uncomfortable. Jaspar wants desperately to help. It’s then when Jaspar misses the money.

this is meannnn. I yap too much. I have to dig deep in the archives.

Ozzie: -Sam taught him how to read

-he really wants a tongue piercing

-He cries a lot a night

Thiago: -At the end of the year he makes little bundles of dried flowers and herbs personalized to each of his graduating students

-He was married from age 26 to 32

-He was an absolute party boy in his teen and college days

Jaspar:

-Jaspar met Malleus when he was young

-He has undiagnosed adhd

-Jaspar and Salem were betrotheds in the Hollow, since they were children.

Salem:

-Not having any siblings or friends before Jaspar, Salem created detailed imaginary friends for him to talk to. Sometimes he still does..

-He is basically immune to itches now. His skin was very sensitive to the makeup he had to wear in the Hollow. It was terribly itchy but Salem was not allowed to scratch in public. He learned how to survive through the horrible burning.

-Salem and Vil have private movie nights where Vil shows him classic films. And mayyybe they paint each others nails.

HAVE A JASPAR RAMBLE I JUST DUMPED IN DISCORD - cw: brief child abuse mention

He grew up in a prestigious family in the Ephemeral Hollow. His brother was younger than him so Jaspar was set to be the heir to the role and prestige. BUT!! His family was as overbearing and strict as one would expect from that position. (As shown by the lash scars he bears…) Thus he and Salem left the Hollow because they knew there was something else out there. Something more they were missing in their bones. They lived on their own for about a year before deciding to take a stab at Night Raven. Yes they had already done their schooling but they wanted to start fresh.

Now, Jaspar also grew up ostracized. One by his status, Two by his appearance. He knew he was tall, had a deathly pallor and an intense resting face. He was used to people giving him a wide breadth or being intimidated by him when he hadn’t said a word. He greatly appreciates those who don’t make such instant and outward assumptions.

He’s intelligent but sheltered. He can be excitable like a puppy. But he’s very good at putting the “noble facade” that was beaten instilled into him. He can be both the talker and the listener. He would love someone to talk freely around him. Not afraid to tell him even the randomest of things. It’s something he likes about Kalim. Kalim will just pop up telling him what he had for lunch 3 days ago.

3.Who do you put through the most emotional turmoil?

It’s neck and neck between Jaspar and Salem but I’m going to have to give it to Salem. He had the more emotionally tumultuous childhood and continues to be more emotionally delicate than his counterpart.

5. Which of them has the worst luck?

Jaspar.. in the sense things tend to not work out for him. He’s a jack of all trades… in spirit. He’ll try anything, but will it succeed? Uhm.. that’s iffy. He also hears “oh you just missed-“ a lot.
