Celestial eyes i don't really think their eyes look like this - this was just a fun experiment for me !! i learned some stuff about painting and making stuff look like it's glowing so. yay yippie!!

TWO HATS SPOILERS

Okay I know I said my isabeau expression sheet would be the last one but the people have spoken. Since loop is just,,, eyes,,,, I decided to make this one interesting by doing this in colour! Specifically marker. I couldn't give loop any more features than they already have - they're kind of not human, so. No nose for you.

Marker is interesting in that it doesn't let me take back mistakes - I couldn't adjust expressions exactly as I liked, unlike pencil. So, I had to make a little test drawing beforehand to experiment with how I was going to draw loop - and I kept experimenting throughout these two pages. I couldn't sketch, so a lot of this was just "fuck it we ball" !!!! I hope I drew them well,,, either way, I feel more confident in my lines after this one.

In terms of acting - loop is obviously very dramatic and expressive, but not explosive the way that bonnie is. They keep their arms stuck close to their body, and raise their shoulders often. They constantly feel tense, particularly in the way their eyes are almost always pulled up into a smiling expression. When that breaks, and their eyes gain a more realistic shape, it ends up feeling far more genuine than the tiny half-moon eyes they constantly show. Other than that idk loop is literally built like 👁️👁️

ACT 6 SPOILERS OK

ISABEAU!! this will maybe be the last one I do. Idk. Also please excuse the shit photos 😭

In terms of features, I decided to give isabeau a nose bump and a very square nose. His whole shape language is a bunch of squares, so that one was obvious, but I gave him the nose bump because. It's cute and I think it fits him. No deeper reason there!!

In terms of how he acts / expresses, isabeau keeps a fairly neutral expression most of the time, actually. It's a happy expression, and he's almost always smiling, but yeah, he doesn't have the huge range of shouting to smiling to crying that the rest of the cast does. He's pretty consistently just happy! So, when that breaks, and he's not, it hits even harder. One interesting thing is that his pupil changes... Colour? I tried to depict it here, but??? Hwhah???

He doesn't squint his eyes the way siffrin does, but he does occasionally raise his eyebrows - he gestures a lot with his hands, but he doesn't know how to cross his arms properly???? That's not how you cross your arms????

Also, WOW there's a lot of expressions where isa has pallor / is blushing. With everyone else? It's like. Maybe 1 or 2. With isa this guy is just fucking red all the time!!! Y'all think he gay

Well that's it!! I'm not planning to do a loop one, but I could be convinced? I would probably have to do it in colour,,,, hmmmm. But this was really good practice! I feel so much more confident at drawing expressions, and even more confident at differentiating how different characters will express.

HEY HEY HEY THIS HAS ACT 6 SPOILERS OKAY ,???

So anyways yeah I did a bunch of expressions practice with the silly guy!! Siffrin is an incredibly expressive character, and goes through a wide variety of different emotional points throughout the story, while still having their own distinct ways of expressing themselves,,, the perfect character to practice on, basically!

To decode some of my rambling notes:

I got very comfortable at drawing siffrin, near the end of this - in the beginning, the first few faces were hard to get looking "right", so it was good I did that neutral practice face. I experimented with using Sif's hair as a way to express their emotions, too - kind of a secondary action, I guess? You know how in Ghibli films, when a character gets mad, their hair puffs up a bit? That's a cute bit of secondary action that gets their emotions across! I did that far worse here, but on certain expressions (particularly where siffrin is more distressed), I tried to draw their hair a little spikier.

Some of their portraits put his mouth off-centre - nothing super unusual, just nothing I've tried before! It adds a lot of personality. Isabeau does it a lot, I think??

SO!! I was very ispired by The Forgotten Country in ISAT, and decided to do a cute little worldbuilding project about it, using some of my own heritage and culture. "Cute little worldbuilding project" turned into 2k words and 2 drawings, so here it is!!! have fun!!! Here's the drawings - one showing the clothing of the island, and the other showing the Linterna festival! I made a kid Siffrin design, and hid them on the 2 pages,,,, can u find them,,,,,
