BABIES MAKIN’ BABIES | Jeff Atkins
Requested by anon: Hiiiii 13 reasons why, Jeff Atkins... where you guys are still in high school and your pregnant and when you find out you ignore him for some days and then the fluff at the end PLEASE!!
Pairing : Jeff Atkins x Reader
Word count: 1.4k words.
A/N: Slowly building back my inspiration. Bear with me xX
Tumblr media
It started one morning when you woke up feeling like you had the most terrible hangover of all your existence without even drinking the night before. You were nauseous and liable to throw up at the lightest smell of food or any scent for that matter, even your shampoo made you feel sick. Maybe you shouldn’t have had that much pizza with your siblings the night before. “Good morning beautiful.” Jeff wrapped his arms around your waist and pulled you against him but the moment his cologne - which you normally adored - hit your nose, you felt instantly sick.
“Morning” You responded trying not to inhale his scent too much and pushed yourself away from him. You never did that.
He frowned. “You good?”
“I agreed on pizza night with Tara and Josh and now my stomach is making me pay for it.” Or so you thought. By lunchtime, you were starving. You realized it when you finished your lunch entirely and still went for your favorite snack as you were heading to your first afternoon class.
But the sickness you thought was gone came back the next morning and the morning after and the morning after. You couldn’t continue blaming the poor pepperoni pizza and mozzarella sticks you ate days ago. “Have you considered being pregnant?” Jessica said when you got out of the bathroom after emptying your stomach. The smell of Montgomery’s sandwich, a basic cheese and ham with mayo, made you feel sick and you rushed to the nearest bathroom, followed by Jessica who was seriously starting to worry about your condition.
“I am on the pill.”
She raised her eyebrows. “And?”
“And it’s impossible for me to be pregnant.”
“It’s only ninety-nine percent effective at preventing pregnancy.”
How unlucky you would be to be the one percent remaining of this popular statistic? But you couldn’t be pregnant. Not now. You pushed the idea away from your thoughts and Jessica to the side as you stormed out of the bathroom. You got back to your seat between your boyfriend and Monty who was still slowly eating his sandwich. It triggered your stomach but you forced yourself not to let the sickness take over. “You alright baby?”
You nodded, forcing a smile on your lips. No, you were far from being alright but you couldn’t just tell him that your friend just planted the idea in your brain that you might be pregnant and that was the reason why you were so sick lately.
Are you upset ?
You weren’t upset. You were mortified at the simple thought that what she said could potentially be true.
Of course not
The three dots were quick to appear on your screen.
Have you taken a test ?
No, I’m scared
Do you have one ?
You had three sitting in your bathroom counter for hours. You got them from the Baker’s pharmacy after school. You didn’t think about it, you grabbed them with the hazelnut chocolate bars you were craving since your bio class this morning. Hannah didn’t make a comment on it. Jessica told her what happened while she was in the library with Clay. She just gave you a comforting smile before you left the shop. You sat your phone on the counter next to the first test you dared to take. Three minutes seemed incredibly long all of a sudden when in other circumstances they seemed so quick. Jessica didn’t send another message when you didn’t respond to the previous one. She must have figured what was going on. She waited with you, looking at the screen of her phone, just as anxious and scared as you were sitting on the closed toilet seat, nervously pulling your shirt’s sleeves over your hands.
The alarm went off and you jumped on your feet, turning it off and purposely avoiding eye contact with the white and blue test next to it as if by doing this something was going to miraculously change the unavoidable truth. But your mind was too curious to know that you caught the single word written on the small screen of the stick with your peripheral vision. Pregnant. Your knees almost gave up on you and you had to steady yourself by holding the edge of the white and grey countertop. “(Y/N/N)?” There was a knock on your bedroom door that you didn’t hear, you only heard the one on your bathroom door. “Honey, are you alright?”
“Yeah mom, I’m fine.”
“Dinner’s ready, we’re waiting for you.”
“I’ll be down in a minute.” You tried your best to sound normal. And your mother bought it. You glanced down at the test and the word was still the same. Pregnant.
During dinner, you didn’t speak much, pushing and dragging your food on your plate. Not only you weren’t hungry but the smell triggered your stomach. You found some stupid excuse about upcoming tests and college admissions to leave before everybody was done. Then you locked yourself in your room, grabbing the two remains tests, ready to dismantle the result of the first one but it only slapped you harder when they were all positive. You felt sick again. Pregnancy was meant to be a happy time. But you were terrified to the point that when Jeff tried to call you later that evening, you ignored him. You couldn’t talk to him, not right now. You needed to process the news first.
The next day - and the days after - you pretended being sick and asked to stay home which your parents didn’t really argue with. You didn’t respond to any of Jeff’s calls or messages and when he showed up to your house, you pretended to be asleep so you didn’t have to face him.
But when Monday came, there weren’t many options left for you and you had to go to school. You had to face Jeff and tell him everything. “What’s the silent treatment for?”
Jeff had his arms crossed over his chest as he leaned against the locker next to yours. “There’s no silence treatment, J.” You avoided the eye contact as much as you could.
“Then why have you been ignoring me for days?” He slammed your locker shut and stepped in front of you, forcing you to look at him. “Don’t you dare tell me there is nothing because obviously there is and you are hiding it from me, (Y/N)”
You didn’t have time to react that tears filled your eyes. Damn hormones. The smallest things made you emotional. “We need to talk but not here.” Silence was heavy in the car as Jeff speed through Evergreen’s streets. You thought about a million ways to tell him you were carrying his child but the very moment you were seated in front of him, holding the hold chocolate cups tightly between your hands, it felt like you had forgotten how to speak. Jeff cleared his throat, getting slightly annoyed by the silence. You took a deep breath and looked up. “I am pregnant.” You never said the words out loud, thought them but never said them to anybody. “I found out last week but I didn’t know how to tell you… ” Now it was his turn to remain silent, not knowing what to say. “Jeff please say something”
He didn’t. He wanted to but he couldn’t seem to find the right words. Just like you, it hit him like a brick wall but unlike you, he felt happy. So happy that when he caught your gaze, he started crying. “I really thought you wanted to break up with me, (Y/N/N).”
“Oh my God, Jeff.” Now it was the two of you crying. “I would never even think about it.”
Jeff moved to sit by your side and pulled you against him, pressing a kiss to your temple. “I’m sorry I yelled at you earlier, I didn’t mean to baby.” He mumbled.
“You were pretty intimidating.” Jeff chuckled at your words. How did you manage to crack a joke in the middle of an emotional moment?
When you looked at him, he had a soft smile plastered on his lips and he moved his hand to push away the rest from your face. “We’re having a baby, uh?” You just nodded and smiled before resting your head against his chest.
“You think we can handle a baby?”
“We’ll manage, my love.” He responded already thinking about your future life. The three of you.

Getting you a promise ring
“Because I wanna marry you and live the rest of my days with you”
And he does
He proposes while still in college

A Kiss To Change It All (Part 18) - Montgomery de la Cruz
Pairing: Montgomery de la Cruz x Reader; Jeff Atkins x Reader
Warning: Nothing to be worried about (just yet)
Word count: 1664 words
Tumblr media
It was no secret that Montgomery de la Cruz had major anger issues and that he often beat almost anyone -and anything- that got on his way. And it often lead him to be either on detention or suspended, depending on how bad and deep the mess he got himself into was and how badly injured the unfortunate soul who got on his way was too. But ever since he started dating you, he became calmer, turning to you whenever something or someone bothered him, whether it was at school or in the middle of the night, you were always there for him. You were the perfect balance for him.
But for the past two weeks, you had been busy working on your final biology project with Zach, it was worth more than half of your final grade and you couldn't allow yourself to fail it. You spent a lot of time together because all you wanted was to get done and over with so you could breathe and get back to your normal life. You barely spent time with Montgomery or Jeff for that matter, and if your best friend was more comprehensive of the situation, he also noticed how it was slowly getting on Montgomery's nerves and he sure was going to lose it sooner or later.
You were oblivious to the situation until one morning when you came to school with your best friend and found Bryce, Justin, and Marcus trying to break a fight. You frowned and moved closer to see who was involved in it only to find Montgomery beating Zach on the ground. "Monty!" You pushed past the curious students, trying desperately to reach your boyfriend, Jeff following close behind you. "Montgomery stop!" You yelled when you finally got Bryce and Justin to move out of your way since they couldn't really control your angry boyfriend.
"(Y/N) step back, you're gonna get hurt." Justin grabbed your arm and tried to pull you away from the two fighting boys but you yanked your arm and managed to get a hold of Montgomery's hand before he hit Zach's face again.
"Monty please stop..." You used all your strength to hold him because you were sure that if you ever let go of him, his fist would surely land on Zach again. You tugged on his hand and when he was on his feet, Jeff quickly helped Zach to stand up and got him away from the crowd which was slowly breaking up. Montgomery didn't look at you and pulled away from your hold. "What was that about?" You dared to ask when you were left alone with him but he didn't respond and started walking towards his car. "Monty wait!" He stopped, jaw clenched and visibly terribly pissed. "Babe, what happened?" Not a word still. "Okay, if you don't want to talk at least let me take care of those..." You took his hands in yours.
A heavy silence filled the Jeep as you drove away from Liberty and to your house, your parents were long gone to work so you didn't have to come up with any type of excuse about ditching school. You lead him to your bathroom, made him stand before the sink so you were able to rinse away the blood that stained his skin, most of it wasn't his but he had many cuts and bruises covering his knuckles. "Alright, all done. I'm gonna get you some ice, it'll help." You didn't even try to ask him anything again and just quickly left the room. The reason why he beat Zach was still a mystery to you, you kept trying to figure it out but you couldn't point it out. As you were resting against the kitchen counter, thinking, your phone buzzed in your pocket. "Jeff, hey..."
"How are things over there?"
You sighed. "Monty didn't say a word since the fight."
"So you don't know why he did it, do you?"
"I don't have a freaking clue." You heard him sigh on the other side of the line. "You know what's gotten into him, uh?"
"He... Look, sweetheart, you and Zach have been together non-stop lately." He paused. "I know you've been working on that project but Montgomery didn't see it like this." You frowned. "I don't know if calling him jealous would be right but he couldn't take it anymore."
All of a sudden, you realized that indeed you spent a lot of time with Zach and barely acknowledged your boyfriend. "Oh my God... I'm such an idiot!" You smacked your forehead, mad at your own self. "How didn't I even notice this? Gosh, I'm so freaking stupid!" You kept hit your forehead with your palm, how could you be so blind to something so obvious?
"Hey hey calm down, would you? I know how you get when you're so focused on school projects and homework, it's not your fault..."
"Oh please, I have been nearly ignoring the two of you for two weeks and you tell me it's not my fault, Jeff? Please don't be so nice to me when I am wrong..."
He chuckled. "Sorry but you know I can't stop being nice to you, sweetheart." You smiled, shaking your head. "Now how about you make it up to your boyfriend?"
"And I'll make it up to you too, handsome, I promise." You were about to hang out. "Oh and Jeff?"
"Yeah, sweetheart?"
"I'm sorry."
"You don't have anything to be sorry about, sweetheart. Now go get your boyfriend in a better mood."
"I love you, Jeffereykins."
"I love you too my pretty girl."
You shoved your phone in your pocket and took a deep breath before you headed back to your room, holding the ice pack in your hands. You didn't know whether you should find it cute that Montgomery got jealous or concerned because at that point he could beat up any guy that got close to you for school work. You pushed the door open, silently closing it behind you and rested against it, observing him as he laid on your bed, hands behind his head, staring at the white ceiling. "I'm pretty sure you have an obsession with my ceiling, babe." You tried to lighten the mood but it didn't work because he didn't even look at you, or smile, or anything. "Are you going to give the silent treatment for a long time?" Still nothing. You dropped the ice pack on your nightstand and kicked your shoes off before you climbed on the bed and on top of your boyfriend, straddling his hips. His first reaction was to hold your waist so you didn't fall but still didn't look at you. "I suck as a girlfriend, uh?" You traced random patterns on his t-shirt. "You know when I start working on something, I tend to get absorbed in the work and I forget about everything else." You stopped for a moment, hoping to get a reaction. "It's not a reason for barely spending time with you and you have every right to be mad at me, hell you could even break up with me because of this..." You frowned at your own words. "Oh no, forget about this last option, stick with being mad at me, okay?" He smiled. Awesome you were getting somewhere. "I am sorry, babe..."
He looked at you and couldn't help but smile even more when he saw you pouting like a child who did a huge mistake and caught by his parents. "I got scared, (Y/N)."
"Of what?"
He sat up but kept one hand on your hip to keep you in place. "That you might start liking Dempsey and dump me for him." His jaw clenched. "I see the way he looks at you..."
"Zach is just my bio partner." You cut him off. "If he wanted to make a move on me, he would have done it a long ago but he didn't and he won't because he knows that I'm in love with you and no one else. I don't want you to think that I'll ever look at someone else because it's you and just you, babe."
You could swear you saw him blush. He pushed away your hair so he could rest his hand on your cheek, thumb softly rubbing your skin. "I love you too, my princess." You closed your eyes, leaning against his hand, enjoying his warm skin against yours. It always felt like a blessing whenever he touched you and you had to admit it, you missed it. You missed everything about him. "Don't fall asleep, I need you awake." You smiled at the tone he used. "Very much awake, baby girl."
The next thing you knew, you were under his strong body, completely trapped under him and to his mercy. He grinned before he slammed his lips against yours, giving you probably the most intense kiss he had ever given you, moving from your mouth to your neck and down to whatever exposed skin he could find. It was when you woke up, a couple of hours later that you saw the nasty marks he left on your neck and chest. "Oh Lord, Cruz, you really had to do that?" You turned around only to find him smirking from the bed, sheets only covering his lower half.
"Baby girl, I need to make sure people know you're mine and mine only."
"As if they don't know this already." You moved back to the bed, buttoning up his plaid shirt that you were wearing.
He grabbed your hand, stopping you from closing the shirt completely. "Just a little reminder to whoever would think about trying to flirt with my girl." His lips brushed yours, teasing before they landed on your neck, kissing where he left dark red marks. "My baby girl..." He breathed against your skin, unbuttoning the few buttons you managed to get closed. "Round 2?" He asked with a boyish grin.

A Kiss To Change It All (Part 15) - Montgomery de la Cruz
Pairing: Jeff Atkins x Best friend! Reader
Warning: None.
Word count: 1258 words.
A/N: Short chapter but part 16 will be here in a day or two!
Tumblr media
Nothing had changed.
The ER was still the same cold place. Grey floor, cream walls and the faint odor of rubbing alcohol that made people feel sicker when sitting in the hallway waiting for their turn, sometimes for hours long. You hadn't been there in almost two years and yes, you didn't miss that place because the moment you stepped into the hallway, you felt nauseous and dizzy. You were among those few lucky people that got taken care of fairly quickly and put in a warm room while waiting for a doctor to come and see you.
You stopped coughing when the nurse set a breathing mask over your mouth but the pain in your chest seemed to be increasing over time. "Oh my God, (Y/N), what happened?" Your mother rushed inside the room and cupped your face. You couldn't say a word because of the pain and mostly because of the breathing mask that didn't allow you to talk freely. Jeff started explaining what happened and you just zoned out, looking through the blinds on the window that gave you a view of the hallway where doctors and nurses were walking back and forth. Every breath you took was a struggle, pain shooting through your body and a cough threatening to shake it all over again and it was worse when your mind started recalling the fight you had with Montgomery earlier in the day. What hurt you the most was the fact that he stood in front of you completely stoical as you cried and he didn't even try to stop you when you were leaving. You sighed and closed your eyes.
"You shouldn't get so stressed over a school project, (Y/N)." Your father's voice dragged you out of your thoughts. You looked at him confused and not really understanding why he was talking about school. "Jeff told us about that biology project you were struggling with for weeks..." You glanced at your best friend who just nodded and you imitated him. He didn't tell your parents the truth.
The doctor showed up close to half an hour after your parents came to the hospital. After he checked your vitals and got the results of the scans and blood tests you took whilst waiting, he came to the conclusion that it was mostly strong emotions and a lack of proper breathing, just as if you went on a marathon for hours and to top it, you didn't take your medication that day, so it was the accumulation of everything that made you cough blood and have that sharp pain in your chest but just to make sure you were alright, he wanted to keep you there for a few more days. "Just to make sure it's not pneumonia or something else. And on Monday, you'll be free to leave and get back to your normal life." You were too tired to fight and beg to go back to the comfort of your own room as you would normally do, so you just nodded and dropped your head back on the thin pillow. "A nurse will give you an IV with some painkillers for that pain." With this, he told your parents and Jeff not to stay for too long and left.
"I'll check on you tomorrow after school, sweetheart," Jeff whispered and kissed your forehead before he left. Your parents followed him, leaving you alone with just your phone to keep you company. You hesitated before you finally turned it back on. It buzzed in your hands with messages and missed calls quickly filling your screen. 'Just what I needed to spend an amazing night in here.' You went through some of the texts, mostly from Jessica, Jeff and Tony but Zach's name also popped between them. You were close to finishing them when you saw his name.
'I am sorry, my princess.'
That was all to make your heart flutter and a small smile appear on your lips but you shook your head, you were still mad at him and a text wasn't going to make it up for what he did. Montgomery was going to need more than this to have you back. You dropped your phone on the nearby table and got yourself under the thick blanket but despite being beyond exhausted, you kept tossing from side to side, squeezing your eyes shut and desperately trying to get yourself to sleep. Impossible. Your mind kept thinking about his text, the fight, the way you saw him with the cheerleader. "Great, on top of being sick, I can't sleep. Fan-freaking-tastic!" You groaned.
It was like that for the three full days you spent locked in that room. The breathing mask didn't allow you to talk much to your friends when they came to visit you but you were thankful they came because you were dying of boredom. Zach brought you flowers, a beautiful bouquet of white roses "Because the pollen is inside the flower and won't cause you any allergy or trouble breathing" he told you. The sweetness of this guy was terrible and you wondered why he hung with Bryce and his squad because he was clearly different. He came alone on Saturday morning and spent a few hours with you until your parents showed up.
"Stay..." You whined when he excused himself gathering his stuff.
He smiled at you. "We'll see each other when you come back... Very soon I hope."
"Very nice boy." Your mother said.
You sighed shaking your head. "Zach is a friend, mom, and my bio partner. No more." You quickly stopped your mother from thinking that Zach and you could be a thing.
Clay came with Tony later that afternoon. Both were worried sick for you and Clay noticed your lack of sleep. "You look like you haven't slept in days."
"You got a point there, Jensen, I haven't since Thursday." And as for your best friend, he stayed the night with you. You tried to get him to go back to his place but he refused. "Well since you're staying, come cuddle with me." You pushed yourself to the side and tapped the empty spot next to you. He hesitated. It was the first time he would consider cuddling with you.
"Bed ain't big, sweetheart."
You chuckled. "It's the whole point of cuddling, dumbass. Get yourself here, I haven't slept in two days, I'm tired." He rolled his eyes at you before climbing next to you, you quickly snuggled under his arm and rested your head on his chest. "You're much more comfortable than that damn pillow." You said after a moment.
"You still like cuddling with me?" That question was like a dagger that went straight to your heart.
You tilted your head up, pulling your breathing mask away. "Oh my Lord, Jefferey, never ask things like this ever again!" You sighed. "Me being with Monty will never change a thing between us and it will most certainly never change about how I feel for you because I love you more than I love myself." He smiled and tightened his grip around you. "You're my whole life, Jeff, I don't want you to question anything that happens between us, okay?" You rested your hand on his cheek.
He nodded. "I'm sorry, my pretty girl, I just... I don't know what I was thinking about." He kissed the inside of your hand and closed his eyes. "I love you, (Y/N/N)." You smiled and snuggled closer to his chest, drifting to sleep to the sound of his heartbeat.

A Kiss To Change It All (Part 17) - Montgomery de la Cruz
Pairing: Montgomery de la Cruz x Reader
Warning: SMUT (pretty shitty my apologies); Fluff.
Word count: 1777 words.
Tumblr media
Your heart was pounding, nervous because you were about to leave Jessica's party with Montgomery and you knew the moment you agreed to go with him to his house that it was going to happen. The big step in your relationship. He was going to see you at your most vulnerable. 'Breathe in... Breathe out... In... Out... In...' You tried to calm yourself as you walked back and forth in Jessica's bedroom. "Why don't you just tell him that you're not ready?"
"It's scaring me that's it..."
She chuckled. "Monty can be scary sometimes but I am pretty sure he'll understand if you want to wait some more. You guys are in love and he'd been taking things slow with you so don't feel like you have to do it if you don't feel ready yet..."
You stopped, standing face to the door. "I am ready... I am just nervous, I don't really know what I am supposed to do or anything."
"You're not supposed to know anything, you're supposed to feel things..." She paused. "Literally and figuratively."
Her words were enough to send your heart in a crazier race inside your chest, it felt like it was going to explode and your cheeks were on fire. You weren't embarrassed to talk about it with her, at all, it was the thought of it that made your senses go wild. "It's not helping at all." Your conversation was cut short when Justin came knocking. Jeff wasn't at the party, busy preparing his history test for Monday so you couldn't even have his supportive look. When you got downstairs, there weren't many people left, only a few nearly drunk people here and there, and the usual baseball/basketball squad playing some idiotic alcohol games and at that moment, you regretted the fact that you couldn't drink, maybe it would have eased your nervousness.
"Baby, ready to go?" You nodded and moved to grab your bag from the couch before you followed your boyfriend to his car. During the ride, you managed to relax as he held your hand in his, pressing kisses now and then until he reached his house. You were surprised to see it for the first time in the middle of the night, a quite big and pretty luxurious place which the inside blew your mind almost as the outside. The living room was big and above the fireplace, you noticed what didn't expect to see: Loads of pictures of Montgomery and his trophies fully displayed to anyone who might come to the De la Cruz house.
"Owww, Monty you looked so adorable as a baby." You couldn't help but smile at the face he was pulling on the picture.
He groaned, annoyed that you had to see those embarrassing pictures of him. "I don't like those pictures." He mumbled and wrapped both arms around your waist from behind before resting his chin on your shoulder.
"You were so cute, babe."
"Am I no longer cute?"
You rolled your eyes, smiling before shifting in his hold. "You're hot now, there's the difference." You didn't realize the tone you used when you said that until you saw a playful grin on his lips.
"I like the sound of that, princess." His eyes moved from yours to your lips. And there you were freaking out again. 'Okay, (Y/N), breathe in... breathe out... He is your boyfriend and he's been very patient with you.' You didn't think twice, because if you did, you were going to ruin the moment, and pressed your lips to his. At first, it was a delicate and innocent kiss but in seconds it became heated and -very- demanding, his hands gripping your hips and pulling you as close to him as he could until there was no space left between you and he was nearly able to feel your heart beating in your chest. Your hands cradled his face and you pushed any thoughts of insecurity and fear away.  "You know where this is leading us, uh?" He breathed pulling away from you and resting his forehead against yours. You nodded and kissed him again. This time, you didn't how but when he pulled away, you found yourself against his bedroom door, still closed behind your back. He pushed it open and turned his nightstand's lamp on, one arm hooked firmly around your waist as you walked in and before he closed it, he spoke again. "If you want to stop, I don't..."
You pressed your index finger on his lips, cutting him off. "I want to, Monty. I really want to."
"We'll go slow and if you want to stop, just let me know, fine?" You nodded. "Gosh, I love you so much (Y/N)." And there you were kissing again. He lifted you off your feet and gently dropped you on the mattress, lips still locked together, your fingers tangled in his short hair, his gripping your hips firmly where you were sure you would find bruises the next day but you didn't care, you just wanted him and nothing else. He pulled away once more, brushing away a few strands of hair away from your face. "You're so beautiful, it's insane." Then, he was all business, taking off his clothes before helping you out of yours, leaving a trail of kisses from your stomach to your neck. You mentally thanked Jessica for taking you shopping for some decent underwear after school on Tuesday, because the black lace seemed to give you a boost of confidence you really needed. "You still sure?" He said, lifting himself up so he could see your face.
"I wouldn't be here if I wasn't." You grinned and pulled him back down to kiss him again before he broke the kiss to take off the last pieces of clothing. His hands roved over your body, not leaving an inch of your skin untouched, sending shots of electricity through it.
He backed away from your lips, staring down at your naked body. You blushed and moved your arms to cover yourself but he stopped you. "You're so perfect" He whispered and leaned down to kiss your lips and moved down, kissing, biting and sucking, probably leaving marks on your warm skin. It took him minutes to get back to your lips. Moans and heavy breathing filling the room. Your body had a desperate need of him but when he carefully slipped inside you, what was pleasure turned into a sharp pain which made you dig your nails in his back. He mumbled apologies in your ear. 'It's gonna be painful but don't think about it, you'll get over it quickly.' You remembered Jessica's words and tried to relax your body, burying your face in his neck. He started at a slow pace until you were fully relaxed, the pain was gone and forgotten and you were finally able to enjoy that moment. He put you before him, observing you and going as slow as it was needed so you were comfortable and enjoying the moment. You were his main priority, his everything and when it was all done and said, he could tell from the way you snuggled against his chest, a soft smile playing on your lips, that you were satisfied. He didn't talk, just kissed the top of your head and pulled the sheets over the two of you before you both drifted to a much-deserved sleep.
That night wasn't like any other night. You discovered yet another side of Montgomery de la Cruz. A very experienced guy under the sheets but most certainly a loving and caring Montgomery.
You woke up to your boyfriend's fingers running up and down your bare back as you laid on your stomach, you didn't open your eyes just yet, loving how his skin felt on yours. You felt his lips on your shoulder, then on your neck, then on your cheek. "You're a terrible actress, my love." You smiled and finally let your eyes flutter open. "Morning sleeping beauty." His fingers moved your hair away and gently touched your cheek.
"Morning handsome." You whispered and moved to lay on your side so you were facing him, pulling the sheets over your naked body. You felt terribly sore and couldn't help but let a groan escape from your lips. He pulled you against him and pressed a chaste kiss on your lips.
"How did you sleep?"
"Amazingly well... You?"
He leaned for another kiss. "Better than ever." You stared at each for quite a moment, just enjoying the comfortable silence that fell between you. His fingers running up and down your spine felt like a touch of heaven, warm and soft, his embrace made you feel safe. You could get used the soft look he was giving you at that exact moment, the way he touched you -not in a sexual way- and more pretty sure the way he loved you. You stayed like that, in each other's arms then it was another first time for you, taking a hot shower together that made your muscles relax. "You're so tensed." He massaged your shoulders as he stood behind you under the steaming water.
"Did I tell you that my whole body is sore?"
"I could help you with it, you know..."
You turned to face him. "Oh really?" None of you was ready for round two. You got out of the shower, towels wrapped on your body and your hair. You sat on the edge of his bed, looking around at the room you didn't have the opportunity to do so the night before. It was simple, cream walls, dark blue curtains, with a tidy desk and the pill of your clothes on the floor. Montgomery was already downstairs, making breakfast for you. You grabbed a flannel from his closet, rolling up the sleeves, you took a quick glance at yourself in the mirror before you joined him in the kitchen. You rested your shoulder against the frame of the door, crossing your arms over your chest, taking a good look at your boyfriend. "Have I told you that you're damn sexy, Cruz?"
He chuckled and turned around to rest both hands on the kitchen counter, smirking. "Not yet, baby girl." You bit your lower lip and walked up to him, wrapped both arms around his neck as he hooked one arm around your waist.
"You're so sexy, Montgomery." You had a wide smile on your lips. "And I am damn glad I don't have to share all of this..." You moved one hand down his chest and back up. "With no one."
"All yours, my love." He kissed your neck.

A Kiss To Change It All (Part 13) - Montgomery de la Cruz
Pairing: Jeff x best friend!Reader; Montgomery x Reader
Warning: A little bit of everything.
Word count: 2431 words.
A/N: Longer chapters to make up for the fact that I post only once a week. Sorry loves. More Jeff is coming. Wait for it.
Tumblr media
A hidden relationship wasn't exactly what you expected as a first experience but all the sneaking behind everyone's back and teasing each other was exciting and fun. And there came the part where it sucked. You had to lie. Constantly. You had to lie to everyone, parents included. You made up so many excuses for the times you were out and no one knew where you were that you could write a book for all those teenagers that did the same but struggled to find a solid explanation.
You didn't just lie to your parents but you sneaked him in your room in the middle of the night...
It was two days after Bryce's party that you woke up to your phone buzzing under your pillow. You groaned and tried to ignore the call but the buzzing wouldn't stop and you eventually responded to your late-night-call not bothering yourself to look at the name on your screen. "It better be important, Cruz..." Your sleepy and slightly annoyed tone made him laugh.
"Could you please open your window?"
You immediately sat up on your bed, all sleep gone. "What do you mean by open your window?" He laughed again.
"I am actually freezing my ass off outside, princess."
What the hell? You jumped on your feet and walked to the window. He was standing in your front yard, phone against his ear, looking ridiculously adorable with his black and red flannel. "I swear that if you make a single noise, I'll kill you." You threatened silently as he carefully climbed and gotten inside your room. He had this grin plastered on his lips the whole time and you realized you were wearing a loose t-shirt that barely covered your butt. "Eyes up, perv." You smacked his chest but he quickly caught your wrist and pulled you close to him, his free hand finding its way to the small of your back.
"Remember what you did on Friday?" He whispered to your ear. His tone sent shivers down your spine.
You tilted your head to the side. "I almost killed you?" You gave him your best innocent look but it didn't work. He swept you off your feet -literally- and dropped you on your mattress. You giggled and watched him as he took off his flannel, t-shirt and kicked his shoes away before he crawled on top of you, trapping you between his legs. You didn't move or tried to get away from his hold, you just smiled playfully as he took your hands and pinned them above your head with one hand. "Babe..." You tried.
"Oh baby girl, this is not working on me right now..." His lips brushed over yours but he didn't kiss you, he moved to your neck, kissing, biting and sucking, probably leaving marks on his way. You held yourself from moaning when he sucked that sweet spot under your ear, Your body arching against his. "See how it feels like? See how hard it was for me to get teased and get nothing?"
"Monty..."
He didn't respond and pulled away from your neck, freeing your hands from his hold. He played with the hem of your t-shirt, but he didn't try to take it off, he didn't want to try anything, not like this. He just looked at you with a much softer expression before he bent over to kiss you properly. "I missed you, princess." He whispered against your lips and made you smile. He rolled over and laid next to you, arms tightly wrapped around your body.
"Talk about teasing, you did much worse..." You sighed, fingers tracing infinity signs on his bare stomach.
He chuckled. "Baby girl, we're not going to do anything in the middle of the night with your parents right next door..." He got a point there. If you were to have sex, your parents would better be away from home. "Get back to sleep, I'll be right here when you wake up." He said when you yawned, hiding your face in his neck.
"Promise?"
Your sleepy voice made him smile. "Promise."
You couldn't picture yourself having sex for the first time with your boyfriend while knowing your parents were a wall away from you. Well, you wanted it to be a special moment, no so soon, a time you would remember since you were still a virgin. Montgomery knew it. You didn't tell him but he assumed it when you told him about your scars, you didn't know how to tell him, you somehow felt embarrassed, so you just told him in your own words, hoping he would get the message without asking questions.
Christmas Eve
You woke up with the worst nausea and migraine ever. The after-effects of the medication you had been taking for years would strike you from time to time making you feel like you were about to pass away. You sat on the cold bathroom floor after you emptied your stomach for the billionth time that morning, shaking from the fever it brought you. "Out of all days, you decided to show up today." You groaned when you gathered what you had left of energy to stand up and wash your face. You walked back to your room and dropped yourself on the bed.
"Got you some hot cocoa, honey." You mother sat a steaming mug on your nightstand before she moved to help you sit up on your bed. "Jefferey should be here in a few..."
"You didn't have to call him, mom"
"I don't want to leave you alone while your dad and I are gone shopping."
You didn't add anything. You just emptied the whole mug in nearly one shrug before you pulled the covers back on you and turned your television on, seeking for something that could keep you entertained. "You look like a mess, sweetheart." Those were the first words your best friend told you once he sat down on the bed next to you.
"You always make me feel special, Jeff." You chuckled and looked at him.
"Sorry" He kissed your forehead. "Will you be able to party tonight?"
"I will literally be downstairs, I think I can manage that..."
The black dress you were wearing made you look paler than you were already, but it looked good on you so you didn't mind. It was pretty tight, knee length and stopped right above your butt, exposing your back. You paired it with some heels since you weren't leaving your house, you thought it was safe to wear them, and if you wanted to get something more comfortable, you could.
When it was usually just your family and Jeff's, this year both your parents decided to invite some more people like the Jensens and the Standalls because 'the more, the merrier' your father said when you threw him a questioning look When you saw Clay, Alex and Jeff casually chatting in your living room when you got down. You greeted everyone and sat down next to your best friend with a drink. "You look damn gorgeous, sweetheart..."
You returned the compliment to your best friend and checked your phone for what seemed like the billionth time that day. No messages from your boyfriend, he didn't open the Snapchat you sent earlier. You sighed and took a long sip of your drink which Alex didn't miss. "Everything's okay?" He asked, sitting down in front of you.
"Yeah, I am just a little sick..." You smiled. "How are you?" You started a conversation there, forgetting about Montgomery ignoring you for a full day. It was after you had dinner that you decided to go get some more painkillers in your room since everyone was loudly talking around you and made your migraine worse. You excused yourself and walked upstairs, you nearly screamed when you saw a shadow standing in front of your window in the dark in your room. "Jesus, are you really trying to give me a heart attack?" You locked your door and switched on the lights. The vision of his injured face nearly made you scream. You quickly crossed the room and stood before him, your hand gently landing on his cheek where a large blue and purple mark was beginning to form and grew darker. His nose was bleeding, his lower lip was bruised and bleeding as well. "What happened, babe?" Your voice was full of concern.
"Can you... hm... can you just hold me for a minute, (Y/N)?" He said in a low voice. You didn't respond and wrapped your arms around his neck, closing the small distance between you. He buried his face in your neck, hands pressed on your naked back. You felt his body shake a bit, tears landing your skin. "I am sorry..." He pulled away from you, wiping his face with his sleeve. "I know you're busy tonight but I just needed to see you, princess."
He was hurt. Physically. But more pretty sure mentally. He looked down at his shoes before you tilted his chin up to meet his eyes. "Will you let me take care of you tonight?" At first, he told you he was heading back home but he didn't sound convincing at all. "Would you try again?" You said crossing your arms over your chest. He shook his head and looked away. You lead him to your bed before you went to the bathroom to get a first aid kit to clean up his face. Your hands were soft and your touch gentle, he never truly had someone to take care of him the way you did. You were sitting on your desk chair, careful not to hurt him as you wiped away the dried blood on his mouth. "It might sting a little..." He winced when you applied the cold alcohol to the wound. "I'm sorry, babe, I'm sorry." You apologized and blew cold air on the reddened spot. Once you were done, you stood up and tossed away the used gauzes. "How about you make yourself comfortable while I am downstairs? I'll bring you something to eat later..."
"You don't have t..."
"I am your girlfriend, Montgomery." You cut him. "Get used to me taking care of you and looking after your sexy ass all the freaking time." You pressed a soft kiss on his forehead. "I'll check on you later, okay?"
"Thank you, angel." He said kissing the back of your hand before you walked out of the room and made your way downstairs. You smoothed your dress before you walked back into the living room where everyone glanced at you. Did they notice you were away for too long? You hoped not so you just sat back next to your best friend.
He leaned to whisper to your ear. "Are you alright, sweetheart?" You nodded and rested your head on his shoulder, holding his arm against you.
"My head is killing me..." You whined. It was half a lie. Yet another lie in the face of the boy you loved the most in this world. It was becoming a habit yet the guilt that followed was becoming heavier each and every time you spat a lie to his face. You closed your eyes and imagined how he would react to you and Montgomery dating. You had two possible scenarios: Happy and not happy at all. The first scenario would go well, Jeff was basically the sweetest person you knew and he would support your choice but still keep an eye on Montgomery because everyone knew he had a reputation with girls at Liberty. But then came the 'not happy at all' scenario which quite frankly scared the hell out of you. You couldn't picture having a fight with your best friend and you certainly couldn't picture yourself not talking, hugging, hanging out with him because it was part of your daily life, and you didn't want it to stop anytime soon. After exchanging gifts and slow dancing with mostly Jeff but Alex as Clay as well, the Jensens and the Standalls called it a night, thanking your mother and Mrs. Atkins for everything. Then later, it was time for the Atkins to leave, they had a flight in just a few hours for New-York to visit some relatives there. "I'm gonna miss you."
Your parents were fast asleep when you walked into your room with a tray full of food for Montgomery. He was on his back on the bed, staring at the ceiling. "Enjoying the view, Cruz?" You said sitting the tray on the nightstand.
"This view is much much better..." He sat on the edge, gripping your hips and pulling you closer to him so his face was buried in your stomach. You giggled and ran your fingers through his hair. "Did I tell you how beautiful you look in this dress?"
"Just in this dress?" You grinned already knowing what he was going to say.
"Baby girl, you could wear a plastic bag and still look damn gorgeous."
You blushed and bent over to kiss him, only for him to pull you down so you were lying on the bed. He kissed you gently, pushing away a few strands of hair before his hands rested on your bare back. When he was about to kiss you again, you stopped him, putting your finger on his lips. "Eat first and then we shall make-out as long as you want."
"But..."
"If you want to see me out of this dress, you better finish your food." You hopped off of the bed and gave him one last look before you walked back downstairs. You cleared the dishes, putting them in the dishwasher, and proceeded to collect the wrapping papers that were under the tree, careful not to move the unwrapped packages from where your father had set them. Once you were done, you went back to your room. "Now I know how to deal with your stubborn ass, Cruz." He was done eating and smiled at your comment.
He pulled you against him in one movement, hands on your hips. "What can I say? This beautiful girl got me wrapped around her finger." He ran his fingers on your cheek, making you close your eyes as you enjoyed the soft touch on your skin. "What are you hiding behind your back?"
"Close your eyes first." He did. No arguments. You pulled the mistletoe you took from the living room and held it above your heads. "Open up." At first, he was confused then he looked up and smiled. "Merry Christmas, Monty."
"Merry Christmas, (Y/N/N)" He whispered before softly kissing you.

A Kiss To Change It All (Part 1) - Montgomery de la Cruz
Pairing: Montgomery x Reader; Jeff x best friend!Reader
Warning: Fluff?
Word count: 682 words.
A/N: Jeff is not dating Leah, she is just not part of my plot. It takes place when Hannah moved to town. I will be trying to follow the actual timeline of the show.
Tumblr media
First day of your sophomore year. You had class all morning and ended spending the afternoon on the bleachers watching your best friend practice baseball. You were never bored being by the field when the jocks were practicing because, for as much as you did not give a shit about relationships, you were not the one to decline a free show of handsome boys sweating.
After three hours of running, falling and sweating, Jeff crossed the field and rested his arms on the gate separating the two of you. "Enjoyed the show, miss?" You nodded grinning at him. He shot you his million dollar smile. The one that made all the girls jealous of your friendship with the jock. "I am gonna take a shower and we're good to go, sweetheart."
"Don't take too long, Jeffereykins." You joked as he was about to jog back to the locker room.
"I hate that name!" He yelled laughing.
"YOU LOVE ME THOUGH!" You shot back at him as you walked to get to the parking lot. You sat on the hood of his car while waiting, reading a book you picked earlier from the library. Ten minutes later, you heard the jocks slowly getting out of the building. Sighing, you got inside the car not willing to get any word from any of them. "If you were not different, I would have burnt all of them and the world would be a better place." You stated, eyes glued to your book when Jeff got in.
"Pyromania, lady, is a crime." He teased as he drove away. You rolled your eyes chuckling.
"Being as jerk as those dudes is a crime too, handsome."
"Oh, now you find me handsome, (y/n)?" He pulled over to the side and looked at you with his most serious look. You tried to keep a straight face before you looked back at him but you two burst out laughing. It was that way between the two of you, you teased each other, you joked around each other but most importantly, you liked each other a lot. You pecked his cheek in response. "I'll take this as a yes." You simply winked and rested back on your seat.
"Sometimes I wonder how people see us together."
"You think a little too much, sweetheart." He took your hand in his and planted a soft kiss on her palm. "On the other hand, I wonder what I'll do when you find a boyfriend and stop spending time with me." He said playfully. He knew your answer already.
"Jefferey!" You gently punched his shoulder. "You know that no guy will ever be able to make us stop spending time together. I love you way too much, Atkins." He smiled. A soft and genuine smile. He kissed your hand again. Minutes later, he parked in front of your house and you gave him another kiss before you got out and in your house. It had been that way between you and the most lovable jock of Liberty since you were kids. You grew up close to each other that if someone new came to town, they would just assume you were dating.
It was nearly 6 p.m. when your parents came back home. " Hey, there sweetie." You dad said as he walked into your bedroom. You looked up at him and smiled.
"Hey, dad. How was your first day?" You asked as you made your way to his arms.
"Great, yours? How is Jeff?" He responded kissing your hair.
"Jeff is doing great. My day was basic, as usual." Your relationship with your parents was beyond amazing. They were loving and caring, gave you space when needed and you returned everything with a good behavior and fantastic grades. They never questioned your friendship with Jeff, on the contrary, they liked him like their own son and trusted him being around you.

A Kiss To Change It All (Part 5) - Montgomery de la Cruz
Pairing: Jeff x best friend!Reader; Montgomery x Reader
Warning: Fluff; No smut but almost
Word count: 909 words.
Tumblr media
Music was blasting in the gymnasium when you made your way in with Jeff. Most of the students turned around to look at you. Your dress made quite an impression as you walked past the students and to the drink table. "Everyone's looking at you, sweetheart." Jeff murmured to your ear wrapping both arms around your waist.
"Cause I am with the most handsome boy of the night." You turned to face him, resting both hands on his chest. You had a matching lipstick to your dress which made you stand out a lot more. That night no one bothered you. And by no one, you meant Bryce and his stupid squad. You danced with your best friend most of the time, you even danced with Zach and to your surprise helped Clay finally get a move on Hannah when the slow music came in. Jeff also took you on the dancefloor, hands not leaving your waist.
"You are so stunning that even Montgomery has his eyes on you," Jeff whispered to you as he slowly made the two of you dance so you were now facing Montgomery that was dancing with Courtney. He didn't lower his gaze but instead pressed hand on the lower back of Courtney so she was all against him. What the hell was going on with him lately?
"Too bad I am already taken." You grinned against his cheek. He chuckled and placed a soft kiss on your bare shoulder. When you looked back at Monty, he was still with Courtney and looking at you. You rolled your eyes at him. When you went back to the bleachers, Clay was sitting alone. "So, how did it go?" You asked.
"Well?"
"You don't look so sure there," Jeff stated.
"Jessica is drunk and she kinda ruined the thing." You sighed and got up. "Where are you going?"
"Find Jess. I don't want her alone and drunk away from me." You said as you carefully got down the bleachers. You walked in the halls, calling her name, your heels clicking on the floor. A couple of students were heavily making out in empty classes, but no Jessica. "Oh, Zach! Have you seen Jess?"
"No, why?"
"Nothing. I just need her." You mumbled as you walk past him before he asked anything else. You kept looking for her and to your forever damn ass, she was nowhere to be found. "Jesus Christ, Jess where the fuck are you?" You groaned.
"She left."
You turned to see Montgomery, resting against the door frame of the empty bathroom. "Alone?"
"With Justin, if that could help you." He said shrugging his shoulders.
"Thank you." You responded as you tried to walk out of the bathroom but he just got on the way. Your heart took a race in your chest. "Montgomery." You said in a low voice.
"Dance with me."
"Sorry, what?" You were not sure you heard him right. You frowned and hoped you didn't hear that.
"Dance with me, (Y/N). Once and I'll leave you alone." He said extending his hand for you to take. You hesitated. Why would he ask you this? Why you and why tonight and away from everyone? Why would he do so after he harshly talked to you the other day? You stared at him for seconds before you took his hand. You could swear he sighed in relief when you finally took a step toward him. His other hand found its way to your waist and pulled you gently close to him but still keeping a distance between you. The music wasn't loud from where you were but you could still hear it and managed to move on the slow beat. For a moment, you looked at each other before you rested your free hand on his chest. You could feel him tense a bit so you moved it to his shoulder, not breaking the contact. His fingers went up and down your back, as he closed his eyes, somehow, somewhat, Montgomery was different that night. The music stopped. You found yourself still in his hold and you didn't push him away. You didn't. Oh boy, you should have because the moment you met his eyes, he leaned forward and presses his lips against yours. For a second, you didn't kiss him back but you let your ward down, your hand moving from his shoulder to the back of his neck. The kiss heated up when his lips traveled from your lips to your neck, his hand holding firmly your waist.
"Monty..." You moaned. Even if you wanted to, you couldn't push him. Something in your head kept telling you not to stop and you didn't. You didn't stop him. You allowed him to kiss every inch of your exposed skin, leaving goosebumps on his way. Throughout your heated make-out session, he had pushed you gently against the nearest wall, placing a hand right behind your head when you finally hit the cold tiled wall. His lips moved back to yours. Your heart was about to stop beating when you finally managed to break the kiss. He rested his forehead against yours, mumbling apologies, his hot breath brushing your face. You were both out of breath, you could still feel his lips on your skin even when he had stopped. "We shouldn't have done this." You murmured closing your eyes, still stuck between him and the wall.
"You regret it?" He whispered.

A Kiss To Change It All (Part 3) - Montgomery de la Cruz
Pairing: Montgomery x Reader; Jeff x best friend!Reader
Warning: Fluff; Brief mention of abuse
Word count: 1055 words.
Tumblr media
It was Friday night. A shit ton of things happened in the last few weeks of school and because it was nothing good, Jeff decided to take you out for a movie night at Crestmont's. You were finishing your hair when you heard a knock on your bedroom door. "Yeah?"
"May I my lady?" Jeff asked peaking his head in your room.
"Come in handsome. I am almost done." You smiled at him and went back to straightening the rest of your hair. He sat on the edge of your bed and watched you do. It remained silent until you broke it. "Why shit happens to good people?"
"You talking about Hannah, uh?"
"Damn it, Jeff, have you seen all that happened to her lately? She asked for none of this." You turned to face him, waving your iron as you talked. "She doesn't even dare to sit with us anymore."
"Hey, hey." Jeff kneeled in front of you. "Sweetheart, why you so mad about this?"
"Because I freaking warned her and she didn't listen to me. That's why." You nearly growled.
"Would you put this iron down before you burn yourself." You did. "Listen to me, I want you to stop blaming yourself and to forget about this for tonight, would you?" You nodded and planted a warm kiss on his forehead. "Let's go. We have one hell of a night ahead of us." He took your hand and dragged you behind him out your room and downstairs.
"I am staying at Jeff's. I'll see ya tomorrow. I love you." You managed to tell your parents before you got in Jeff's car. He drove up to Crestmont's. The moment you were out of the car, you spotted Hannah and Clay at the snack counter. Jeff got your tickets for "La La Land" because you freaking loved Ryan Gosling and you beamed about the movie until he gave up and agreed to watch it. "Hey, Hannah." You greeted her when you reached the counter.
"Hey." She said in a low voice. "What can I get you?" That was it. You could feel how broken and mentally damaged she was by just hearing her voice. You ordered for both you and Jeff while he was chatting with Clay. You didn't dare to ask her how she was doing nor if she wanted to talk to anyone.
"Movie is gonna start soon, sweetheart, let's go." He wrapped his arm around your waist and pulled you away. "Clay is gonna ask her out if that could make you feel better." He whispered to you. You just shot him a soft smile and mouthed 'Thank you' before you started looking a good spot. Throughout the whole movie, you were there, resting your head on his shoulder, him holding his hand in his. It was no doubt people would mistake you for a couple. After the movie, you crashed at his place. He got you two pizza and drinks with his parents out of town, you had the whole place to yourself. You made your way to his bedroom and got yourself in more comfortable clothes which meant one of his t-shirts. When you went back to the living room, he was already seated on the couch. "A zero percent alcohol for my girl." He said handing you a cold bottle of beer.
"Thank you handsome." You kissed his cheek. "I am so lucky to have you." You grinned.
"I am the lucky one here. I have the most beautiful girl as my best friends and potential future wife." His smile. Oh, that million dollar smile.
"Imagine people calling Mrs. Atkins for a second... Yup, it sounds right." You looked at each other and burst out in an uncontrolled laugher until you both couldn't breathe anymore. It was the way you spent most of your nights together. You would chat, laugh and cuddle. You were more likely to fall asleep in his arms. Well that night when you were about to finally head to bed, the doorbell rang. "You expecting someone this late?" You asked. He shook his head and went to open. It was Montgomery.
"Man, I am sorry to come this late but..." He couldn't see you but you could hear him talking to Jeff. You silently made your way to Jeff's bedroom, not wanting him to see you half naked in your best friend's t-shirt. Minutes later, Jeff entered the room and you just questioned him by a simple look.
"He got into a fight with his father, he needed a place to crash in for the night since Bryce is out of town." You frowned. You never knew Montgomery had issues with his father. "He is sleeping on the couch and he will leave before we even wake up, sweetheart."
"Is it the first time?"
"The first time what?" He asked as he took off his t-shirt.
"That shit happens in his house."
"No. It's been like this for a long time. He never talks about it." You listened to him as he got changed and made his way to the bed next to you. The whole thing caught you off guard, you would have never thought that Montgomery de la Cruz had issues with his father that made, not only fight with him but leave his house in the middle of the night, seeking for a place to stay in until the next day. Jeff pulled you against his chest and turned off the lights. "Forget about him."
"What?"
"Forget about Montgomery. I know you're overthinking right now and you shouldn't."
"Why do you know me so well?" You asked on an amused tone looking up at him but you could only see his shadow.
"First, because we've known each since like what? forever? Second thing, you always zone out when you think of something and I am pretty sure you didn't notice the moment I got in bed. Third thing, you have this way of frowning..." He ran his index finger on your eyebrows. "You always do this when you start thinking about something." You chuckled silently. Again, you didn't want Montgomery to hear you and even acknowledge your presence under the same roof.
"You have a point here, Atkins." You admitted. Slowly you drifted to sleep, focusing on Jeff's heartbeat.

A Kiss To Change It All (Part 2) - Montgomery de la Cruz
Pairing: Montgomery x Reader; Jeff x best friend!Reader
Warning: Fluff; Bryce Walker
Word count: 1161 words.
Tumblr media
The first days at school were pretty calm. You hung out with Jeff most of the time but you also stayed with Hannah Baker, the new girl you and Jeff saw several times working at Cresmont's. At first, you were a little bit reluctant to get into deep conversations with her but when she came to your locker on a Friday morning, all smiling and giggling, you just let your wall down. You closed your locker and rested your back on it, crossing your arms over your chest, a grin on your lips. "Cut it, what's getting you in such a good mood, Baker."
Her smile got even wider and she shook her head not daring to meet your eyes. "Promise you won't get mad at me first."
"Jesus, I am starting to have an idea but go ahead, I promise." You sighed. Jeff had told you about her having a massive crush on Justin Foley and him bragging about asking her out someday during practice.
"I went to the park with Justin last night." She said in a low voice.
"Oh my God." Your voice was extra high so that the few students around you looked at you. Hannah shushed you by putting her hand on your mouth. "Why did you do that?" You whispered pushing her hand away from your face.
"He is cute and nice."
"Well get this Hannah, he is a jock. Jock equals jerk." You pointed out. "Except Jeff." You added when she gave you a look. "Jeff is an angel. My boy is the sweetest of 'em all."
"Are you two dating?" She asked as you walked to your first class of the day.
"No, we're not... We..." You began. "Never mind, we're not." She frowned but took your answer without adding anything. Your first class was with her and for your unfortunate soul, Justin Foley, Montgomery de la Cruz and Marcus Cole. "Great, my day couldn't start better." You mumbled as you walked past Justin and Marcus. You sat next to Montgomery and to your surprise, he didn't say a word to you. The hour seemed like a full day. You loved french but you hated the fact that you would have to spend, not only the rest of the year with the same classmates but the rest of the years you had left at Liberty which meant three years of working on your zen mode 24/7 unless you wanted to finish in jail for multiple homicides. When it was finally lunch break, you rushed to Jeff's side. Clay, Tony and Hannah were there too.
"Someone missed me here." He smiled at you.
"I hate it when we don't have class together Jeff." You whined playing with the straw of your orange juice. Him and Clay exchanged a smile before Jeff pulled you in his arms.
"I hate it too sweetheart." He whispered to your ear. "But I love it when you smile." He pecked your cheek and your smile was back on your lips.
"Why don't you date each other already?" Tony said with a grin.
"Oh we're planning to." Jeff stated looking at you with a wide smile. "We promised each other that if we finish high school single, we would date each other. Right, (y/n/n)?"
"100% right." You chuckled and started eating, only to feel someone watching you from the other side of the cafeteria. You looked up and no one was looking at your direction. 'You are being paranoid, (y/n).' You thought. Lunch time went smoothly, except for Hannah. Justin had been texting her all along and she had a goofy smile on her lips that none of Clay and Tony understood. "Is Justin being serious with her or is it another game him and Bryce are playing?" You whispered to your best friend's ear. He just gave you a look. That look and you knew Hannah was screwed. You went to your biology class, alone this time, no Hannah, no Jeff, no Clay or Tony. You sat in the back, knowing that you would get bored within minutes. You were about to start drawing on a blank page of your notebook when a paper landed on your desk.
Bored already?
You looked up and saw Zach Dempsey smiling at you. You could not deny the fact that he may be one of those idiots but just like your best friend, he showed that he was different. He was pretty handsome too. You smiled back and scribbled back on the paper before you threw it back at him.
Am I that obvious?
It's written all over your face
You rolled your eyes and shook your head smiling at his comment. You kept chatting with the piece of paper flying from your desk to his through the whole hour until the teacher caught your attention. "I want you all to find a partner to work with." Everyone started to look around for their friends. "Keep in mind that you'll be paired for the rest of the year." She added raising her voice because of all the babbling in class.
"Wanna be my bio partner for this year?" You smiled when you heard Zach's voice close to your ear. You nodded and followed him to the teacher desk to write both your names on the list. "Thank you." He said following you out of the classroom.
"For what?" You looked up at him.
"Agreeing to be my bio partner even though we all know you don't like being around jocks."
You stopped walking and waited for him to face you. "Here is something I don't tell many people, you're not like the others. You just stick with the wrong people." It was a statement. First, he didn't dare to look at you in the eyes but when he did, he saw you smiling and couldn't help but smile as well.
"People say I am dumb."
"People are wrong." You shot back at him. "You're a good guy, smart and... pretty damn handsome." You added slightly blushing. When he was about to say something, Bryce and Montgomery showed up.
"Look at that Monty! Our precious Zachy and Jeff's girlfriend."
"What about my girl?" Jeff was standing behind them, arms crossed over his chest. "Keep on going Bryce, what about her?" You knew exactly that this would lead them to a fight and you didn't want him to get into fights because of you so you pushed Montgomery who was standing in front of you and pulled Jeff away. "Did they say anything to you?" He whispered cupping your face. You shook your head. "Great." He pressed a kiss on your forehead before he walked you to your class with Zach right behind you. "Keep an eye on her, Dempsey." Zach just nodded and sat next to you. Peer communication.
"Someday I will punch Bryce straight in the face." You said to Zach.
"He is not worth it, (y/n)." You sighed and didn't respond.

A Kiss To Change It All (Part 10) - Montgomery de la Cruz
Pairing: Jeff x best friend!Reader; Montgomery x Reader
Warning: FLUFF
Word count: 1464 words.
Tumblr media
When Friday finally came, you were beyond excited. You couldn't stay in place while waiting for Montgomery in the library. You did everything you had to do for next week and even started to do research for your biology project that was due for after the holidays. "How's my girl doing?" Montgomery whispered before he kissed your cheek and sat down next to you. You smiled and blushed, and your heart took a race in your chest again, and you had butterflies and, every single thing that happened to you whenever he talked to you, touched you or kissed you. You looked at him and couldn't resist running your fingers through his damp hair from the shower he took minutes ago. "Missed me?" You nodded and quickly pecked his lips. "That's it?" He pouted.
"Sorry but Jeff and Clay are supposed to have tutoring now too." You justified yourself. He sighed crossing his arms over his chest and kept his, according to you, cute little frown until you gave up and kissed him again. He just looked at you with a goofy smile. "You're such a kid, Cruz." You chuckled and made him too. When he was about to say something, you saw your best friend and Clay make their way to the table right in front yours. Jeff shot you a soft smile that you gladly returned before you started working with Montgomery. Unlike your first session, he kept his hands to himself, didn't look at you for too long and made sure you weren't too close to each other as Jeff glanced at you from time to time. "Montgomery is taking me home so I can get ready for tonight." You told your best friend once you packed all your stuff after you were done.
"I'll pick you up by seven, is that fine?"
"Perfect." You pecked his cheek and made your way out of the library. You found Montgomery resting against the wall, hands shoved deep in his pockets as he was waiting for you. He took your hand and both of you walked to his car. No words exchanged. When you reached the dockside, he just pulled you in his arms and kissed your cheek. "Is everything ok?" You asked.
"Everything is perfect when you're with me." You blushed. Again. He didn't think about those words, let his heart speak for him and make yours skip beats. Many times in your life, you wondered how it would be like having a boyfriend and developing feelings for him. Many times you wondered who it would be and why your heart would choose him over anyone else. Not a time in your life you would have thought it would be Montgomery de la Cruz. Not a single time. And right now, you couldn't picture yourself with someone else but him. It was crazy, fast and unpredictable. You were calm and kind to everyone, while he was mean and rough to almost anyone that got in his way. Complete opposites. You hated each other for no reason. Everyone knew it at Liberty and never questioned it. But whatever was going on between you was beautiful and magical. Because of this, he was calmer, nicer to people. Which resulted in a few whispers when he didn't push Tyler Down against a locker as he took pictures of students in the halls the day before, or him messing with Clay's name whenever he got the chance. It's been a few days but it was enough to see him be a better person. "Gosh, you're so beautiful." He whispered tucking a piece of hair behind your ear. His lips brushed over yours for a moment before you closed the small distance between you and kissed him, slow and soft, enjoying every second of it. When you pulled away, he rested his forehead against yours, a smile playing on his lips. You had never seen him smile that way. Never. And never in your life, you would have thought you would be the one to make him smile.
"Suck and blow, (Y/N)! Get your sexy ass here!" Sheri yelled from the living room when you were getting more beers for the boys. Jeff pulled you next to him when you put the beers on the table.
"I am already regretting this game..." You sighed with a smile when Alex sat down on your left before the game started with Sheri passing the card to Jeff. And there you were sucking the card and managing not to drop it as you pressed it against Alex's lips. The first round went well, no one kissed but the third round was a mess. Clay kissed both Sheri and Jessica. You kissed Jeff. Not that you never kissed before but right at that moment, you just thought about Montgomery and you pulled away.
"Sorry sweetheart." He whispered to your ear.
"Nothing we haven't done before." You chuckled and gave him a cute grin before you passed the card to Alex. The game kept going on until you finished, just chilling in the living room. You resting in Jeff's arms.
"You two would make an incredible couple."
"Tell us something we don't know already." Jeff chuckled pressing a kiss on your cheek. "But I'm pretty sure (Y/N) will find someone that'll make her happier than I do."
"No one will ever replace you, Jeffereykins." You said holding his hand. "And even if I find a boyfriend, you'll always be my number one." Your tone was low but loud enough for everyone to hear. You added that just to lift a little bit of the guilt from your chest because you couldn't bear lying to your best friend 24/7 since the Winter Formal. A full week. A full week of lies straight to his face. Never in your life, you did this to Jeff.
"Woah that's cheesy but fucking cute..." Jessica chuckled. "How about you tell everyone why you were in such a great mood yesterday..."
"Jesus Christ, Jess, you didn't drop that yet." You laughed nervously hiding your face against Jeff's chest.
"To be honest, I really want to know too, sweetheart." He added.
"I don't know, guys, really, I just... I was feeling good that's it."
"Sometimes you can't explain a good mood, you know," Alex said.
"Thank you, Alex." You replied smiling at the blond boy. And that was it, you moved to another subject. You just closed your eyes, listening to the others speak about everything and nothing, Jeff's hands holding yours. Your thoughts slowly drifted to Montgomery. No matter what you were doing, with whom you were, your thoughts always seemed to be about him. And you were not mad about it. You started liking him. Or did you like him already without knowing it ?
"So how's tutoring mister hothead is so far?" Sheri asked you pulling you out of your thoughts.
"Good. It's been just two times but he is doing well."
"You know we don't care about how well he is doing but we want to know if he ever tried to flirt with you or something..."
"Oh..." You cleared your throat, shifting in your best friend's hold. "No, he never did. Why would he do that anyway?"
"Girl, have you taken a look at yourself in a mirror? You are fine as hell!"
You blushed and chuckled nervously. "Come on Jessica..." You rolled your eyes hoping that like earlier they would drop the subject like earlier but they didn't.
"What? You could calm his temper a little bit... Dude could use some feelings."
"Montgomery wasn't always an asshole like that," Sheri said as she took a sip of her beer. "I remember in elementary school, he helped me every day to get to class because I had clutches for a month. He carried my bag and made sure no one pushed me during recess so I didn't hurt."Her tone had some kind of sadness in it. "I just wonder why he changed that way..." You remembered that night he came here asking Jeff for a place to stay in for the night. You remembered his bruised face and how tired he was sleeping in the couch you were in right now. He didn't talk to you about it and you hoped that he would open up to you about what was going on with his family.
"Bryce Walker is the answer to all of it," Alex stated. Oh, Bryce Walker. If you had to pick one asshole out of all Liberty, you wouldn't hesitate a second. He was the portray of the perfect spoiled kid that had anything he wanted and did anything he wanted without anyone saying anything to him. You were thankful Jeff was always by your side so he never dared to get too close to you. And even when he tried, your best friend stopped him right away.

A Kiss To Change It All (Part 8) - Montgomery de la Cruz
Pairing: Jeff x best friend!Reader; Montgomery x Reader
Warning: FLUUUUUUFF !
Word count: 1311 words.
A/N: I know it’s Ash and not Monty, but it’s still Timothy ahah.
Tumblr media
Wednesday
There you were. Nervous. Anxious. Your heart about to stop beating. You were sitting with Jeff in the cafeteria, not paying attention to what he was talking about with Tony and Clay. It was your first day tutoring Montgomery and you really didn’t know how things were going to be between you. You didn’t talk to each other ever since you found an agreement about your tutoring hours, you didn’t even get each other’s numbers. You had told Jeff the same day and to your surprise, he told you that maybe that was a way for you to change your mind about the other jocks and that Montgomery wasn’t all bad like you had seen at school. Jessica walked up to you after she kissed Justin and left him with the jocks. “What’s up?” She said sitting in front of you. You didn’t respond. “Yo (y/n)… Earth to (y/n)!” She shook her hands in front of your face.
“Sorry, were you talking to me?”
“What is going on with you?” She asked and everyone at your table looked at you.
You shrugged. “Nothing.” You knew that everyone would buy your lies but Tony. He knew you were nervous being alone with Montgomery. You had two weeks left before the holidays which meant you only had to see him four times. When the first bell rang, you quickly kissed Jeff on the cheek, telling him that you would head back home right after you were done with Montgomery. “I’ll see ya tomorrow, handsome.” You said rushing to your biology class. You were assigned a new project by the end of the two hour long class and you were casually discussing it when you remembered you had to go to the library. “Shit! I forgot Montgomery! See ya later Dempsey” You yelled, running down the halls, bumping and apologizing to students on your way until your reached your final destination. You were out of breath, sweating and… he was there. Reading a book while waiting for you. “I am so sorry, Montgomery but bio projects, I was carried away and…” You said dropping your bag next to him and falling in the chair as you tried to steady your breath.
He chuckled. “Chill, I just got here.” He watched you pull your hair to one side, fanning your face with your hands He caught himself staring at every inch of your face. Even when you. did nothing, you were still pretty to him. You took your books out and he shook his head, dragging his eyes to what you started showing him. His arm snuck behind you so he could have a better look at what you were writing down. Your heart took a race in your chest. Again. You knew that now that you agreed to tutor him, he would take any chance to get close to you. From time to time, he zoned out looking at you but quickly got back to paying attention to what you were saying. You pushed the book towards him.
“Exercises two and three” You smiled at him, handing him your pencil. He took it, his hand slightly brushing over yours and sending goosebumps all over your body. Damn it. He started writing, then he frowned and erased before he wrote again and you were there, Head resting in your hand, observing every gesture he made. ‘He is fucking handsome.’ You thought slightly biting your lower lip, he knew you were looking at him and he couldn’t help but smile a little bit. You never saw him do that many efforts for school. Once he was done, he pushed his notebook in front of you and you started correcting, what were mostly grammar mistakes. You didn’t know why the teacher said he wasn’t good enough because he was doing pretty well. “Don’t forget about what I told you to do for Friday.” You told him as you walked out of the library with him.
“I won’t, I promise.” He said. “You are a really good teacher.” He grinned.
You blushed. “It’s just the first lesson.” You chuckled and added. “But thank you.”
“Do you need a ride home?” You hesitated but accepted. You walked next to him, silently, nervous yet very happy that everything went smoothly between you so far. He opened the passenger door for you and closed it once you were in the car. The hood was down despite the slightly colder weather. "I can close it if you want to."
"No, don't. It feels good having some fresh air." He drove away from Liberty. You broke the silence after minutes. “Monty...” Wait, what? He gave you a quick glance. “Don’t take me home.” Shit. That was a mistake. Why did you say that?
“Where to then?” He slowed down.
You took a deep breath. “The dockside.” He just nodded. You didn’t know why you said that and you knew that there was no turning back. He parked the car and got out, resting against the hood. “Do you regret kissing me?” You asked when you stood in front of him.
He shook his head smiling softly as his hands came to hold your waist and pulled you close to him. “Not a damn bit, (y/n)…” You rested your hands on his chest. “But you said it wouldn’t happen again, so…” He teased playfully. You rolled your eyes and chuckled.
“I am not saying it’ll happen again.” You played with the collar of his plaid shirt, you felt his fingers running up and down your back, just like he did that night. You closed your eyes finding comfort in his touch. When you opened your eyes back, he was looking at you. You tried to hide your smile but you couldn’t when he shot you a big smile. ‘Damn it he really knows how to smile.’ You said to yourself. “Stop looking at me like this!” You gently hit his chest with your hand.
“Like what?” He asked still smiling and not breaking the eye contact.
You looked away, blushing and smiling. “Like you’re gonna kiss me again.”
His hand came under your chin and made you look at him. “Well, I really want to.” His voice came in a whisper. Your whole body was on fire with one simple sentence. His lips were inches away from yours but he didn’t, instead, he kissed your cheek, your jaw, your neck and the right spot underneath your ear resulting in you closing eyes again. That bastard knew how to make a girl feel amazing with nothing but kisses. He rested his forehead on your shoulder. You were fully pressed against his body and once more, you didn’t push him away. You didn’t want to. Maybe because you were discovering something new, something you never felt before. When he looked up at you, you knew you were about to change everything. You cupped his face with both hands and pressed your lips against his. Was it a mistake? You didn’t care at that point. It felt amazing. His lips moved with yours in a perfect sync, your hands traveled from his face to his hair but his, stayed on your hips, you could feel his thumbs rubbings small circles. When you pulled away, your cheeks tinted in a bright shade of pink, he chuckled.
“What?” You asked tilting your head to the side.
“I am not saying it’ll happen again.” He imitated you before he pecked your lips once again.
“Shut up Monty.” You said laughing and he laughed too. You kept running your fingers through his hair, you felt him relax more and more as you did that.
“It feels good.” He murmured resting his head on your shoulder again and pressing a warm kiss on your neck. “So it’ll happen again?” He asked after a minute.
You smiled all your nervous and anxious feelings were far away from your mind and you found yourself enjoying every second you spent with the jock you probably hated the most after Bryce Walker, Montgomery de la Cruz. “Probably.”

A Kiss To Change It All (Part 4) - Montgomery de la Cruz
Pairing: Montgomery x Reader; Jeff x best friend!Reader
Warning: Body image issues; Health issues;
Word count: 1240 words.
Tumblr media
You were sitting in the library, facing Zach, three open books laying between you as you both worked hard to get over with your biology paper that was due for the next week. You had time but you also wanted to be free for the winter formal.
"All we have left to do is a summary." He said dropping his pen and stretching.
"I can finish this on my own, Zach."
"Group project, everything is in the name. We start it together, we finish it together." He insisted.
"And practice?" You shot back at him leaning above the table, head sitting on your hands.
"I still have an hour ahead of me before practice." He imitated your gestures so you were inches away from one another. You couldn't contain your smile longer and shook your ahead amused. "Let's get this bad boy finished." And less than an hour later, you finally left the library. "Told you we'd finish it on time." He teased gently pushing you. You chuckled and looked at him.
"Am I being nice to jocks lately?" You asked as you turned to walk backward in front of him. He laughed before you started jumping and turning around him.
"And adorable!" He took your hand and made you swirl on yourself of few times before you bumped into someone.
"Sorry!" You said before you met the person's eyes. Montgomery. You haven't seen each other since the night he spent at Jeff's and it was good that way. He ditched most of the French classes since then.
You woke up before Jeff. 5.30 a.m. was glowing on the clock on the nightstand. You growled and silently made your way to take a pair of sweatpants from his closet and then out of the bedroom. You walked downstairs, trying to make yourself as discreet as possible until you were in the living where Montgomery was sleeping, head resting on the armrest of the couch. You pulled a blanket from the chair beside it and carefully laid it on him. His face was beaten up. Badly. When you turned around, ready to leave as silently as you came in, he grabbed your wrist. "I didn't mean to wake you up." You whispered trying to get rid of his tight grip but you couldn't. He let go of you and mouthed 'Thank you' before you left in a hurry. You crawled back next to Jeff and never told him about what happened with Montgomery. You didn't get back to sleep, you kept looking at the ceiling wondering why in the first place you went to check on him.
"Watch out where you walk, (y/l/n)." He hissed before walking away from you and Zach.
"Terribly polite as usual." You rolled your eyes and looked at Zach. "It was for me being too nice to jocks."
"(Y/N)..."
"Go to your practice Zach, I have to meet up with Jess." You said walking away from him. You were mad at him. You didn't even know why. You and Montgomery weren't even friends so why were you pissed at him being a jerk to you as he always did. "Sorry for being late, Jess." You said as you walked up to your friend in the parking lot.
"I just got here anyway." She smiled at you but you were looking away. "What's gotten into you, (Y/N)?"
"Nothing. Just bumped into Cruz and he was nice as hell."
"That dude is a douchebag, don't get angry because of him." She put a hand on your shoulder. "Let's go shopping for dresses and shoes, you'll feel better after that I promise." You chuckled and followed her to her car. She blasted your favorite album loud in the car and you both sang along until you reached the mall. First few stores were miserable, none of you liked what you saw there, too sparkly, too bright, too lacy. You walked into the fourth store on your way. "Look at those, Oh My Goodness." You followed her and started digging. After nearly giving up, you found your gem.
"I think I got mine." You said loudly so Jessica could hear you. "Oh, beauty." Skater dress, burgundy, off the shoulders, simple yet beautiful. Jessica found hers in the next store and you both stopped for an ice-cream break before you went to pick your shoes.
"Jeff is gonna be stunned by your beauty." She said wiggling her spoon in front of you.
"I hope so." You grinned. "I am wondering if he already got his suit by the way." You dug into your bowl before you spoke again. "You and Alex..."
"We're over. After what happened with the list and stuff, we couldn't go further."
"You're ok?"
"Yeah. I mean, we're still friends."
"Good. That's a good thing, Jess."
"You and Zach on the other hand..."
"Oh come on, Jess. Me and Zach seriously?"
"Well from I could tell, you spent a lot of time together..."
"For people who have biology projects to do together." You finished. "He is nice and handsome too."
"Sounds like Dempsey is scoring there."
"No, he is absolutely not scoring."
"So what you have feelings for Jeff that you can't look at anyone else?" She asked crossing her arms over her chest.
"Of course, no. My friendship with Jeff has nothing to do with the fact that I don't have feelings for anyone." You sighed. "I just... My health issues are holding me back." Her facial expression changed. It softened. She didn't know what was going on with your health. Actually, not many people knew about your health issues. "I have scars on my body... I have had three transplants between the age of eleven and fourteen." You said looking at your now melted ice-cream. "It's not pretty to see." You played with the cherry that was floating in the green cream. Jessica didn't know what to say, she was surprised by you confessing things like that despite you not knowing each other very well. She took her hand in hers and made you look at her, tears were rolling on your cheeks.
"You are beautiful, (Y/N). Scars don't matter because they make you who you are today. A strong and beautiful girl that I wish I had met years ago." She ran her thumb on your cheek, wiping away the tears. "Is that what makes you so close to Jeff?" You nodded and told her how Jeff always stuck by your side since you were a child. When you were too sick to play outside, he was the one to stay with you, ditching away everyone so you didn't have to stay on your own. When you woke up from your first surgery, he was there. He was always there. It was probably the reason why you didn't mind being half naked in front of him because he knew those scars saved your life. He even told you that he couldn't even see them when he looked at your body. She just listened to you, every word you said she took and said nothing back until you finished.
"I don't do cheerleading because my lungs and my heart are weak. Any physical effort could end me right there. But I still like to go out for a run from time to time. " You chuckled, sniffling a little bit.
"Rebel." She laughed, this time wiping away her own tears. "Thank you for trusting me, (Y/N)."

A Kiss To Change It All (Part 16) - Montgomery de la Cruz
Pairing: Jeff Atkins x Reader; Montgomery de la Cruz x Reader
Warning: Feels.
Word count: 1337 words.
Tumblr media
School started again for you on Tuesday.
"You'll have to talk it out sooner or later, sweetheart."
You sighed and looked at the car parked next to Jeff's. The familiar Jeep made your heart skip beats. "I know, Jeff, I know." Your voice was barely louder than a whisper. He had to meet up with the coach and you... Well, you had to walk alone. You never felt this anxious walking into Liberty and you certainly never felt this nervous when your eyes met Montgomery's when you stopped by your locker. He looked at you for a few seconds, enough for you to notice the bruises on his face and the cut on his lower lip. Your nervousness turned into worry and concern. What on earth did he get himself into again? You sighed and proceeded to open your locker.
"He got into a fight on Thursday in case you're wondering."
You turned around only to come face to face with Justin. "I'm sorry, what did you say?" You wanted to play dumb but your voice and the look in your eyes betrayed you. He shook his head and looked towards Montgomery. It was enough for you to understand that he also knew about your relationship. "Who was the unlucky guy?"
"Some random dude from senior year. (Y/N) you have to sort things out, he really cares about you and he had been a total mess without you..." You rolled your eyes and went back to picking your books for your morning classes. "I was there and he didn't give a shit about her."
"That's not what I saw, Justin and not to be mean or anything, but it's none of your business." You closed your locker and walked past him towards your first period which for your fortunate soul was French. You knew you had to face him at some point, you knew you had to talk because you couldn't just move on from two months of pure happiness and ignore each other as if nothing ever happened between you. He showed up just a minute after you with Justin who gave you a pleading look when Montgomery sat down next to you. He seemed tired. Even more, than you were after almost five nights without proper sleep. He didn't look at you, he played with his sleeves, eyes focused on the red and blue fabric of his flannel. You had never seen him like that.
When you stopped by your locker before lunch break to drop some books and pick some others, you found a light blue post-it note inside. 'Meet me in the bathroom - M'. At first, you wanted to ignore it but as you walked towards the cafeteria, holding onto the small piece of paper, you kept thinking about it and before you knew it, you spun on your heels and made your way to the bathroom, heart beating fast as you approached it. There he was, resting against the sink, hands shoved deep in his jeans' pockets, eyes on the white tiled floor. You cleared your throat, quickly catching his attention. "Hey."
"Hey..." Every muscle of his body seemed tensed despite the soft look he gave you. That look though was different from the usual flirty ones, it showed weakness and guilt. He didn't move from his spot, afraid you may run away from him. "How do you feel?" He was careful not to rush and tell you how much of an idiot he was that day and how much he beat himself up for it.
"Better... Thank you." Silent filled the room in seconds. The only sound was the faucet dripping in the sink, each drop echoing like a cymbal. "Hm... What was it about?" You spoke again.
He shifted on his feet and took a step towards you but still keeping a distance between you. "I am sorry (Y/N), I was a damn idiot that hurt you but I swear it's not what you were thinking it was."
"What was it then?"
"This girl doesn't seem to understand what I say." He threw his arms in the air, his voice rising a little bit. "I pushed her away so many times but she just laughs at whatever I say and keeps thinking she could have me... Ask Justin and Zach if you don't believe me." He said those last words in a hurt tone.
He didn't lie to you. "Dumb bitch." You mumbled looking down at your shoes, anger building inside of you. How could you even think he would do such a thing? You felt stupid for not trusting him.
"You're the only one I see." He took a step closer to you. "I could never hurt you." Another step. He was inches away from you. "I would never cheat on you, my princess..." With his index and thumb, he tilted your head up so you were looking at him. "Because you're the best thing that ever happened to me. Damn it, you're the only good thing in my life and I wouldn't risk losing you because I love you (Y/N)..." Your eyes widened and every ounce of breath was taken away from your lungs. None of you ever said those words and to say the least, you weren't expecting him to be the first one to say them because despite showing you affection and everything, you weren't so sure Montgomery de la Cruz could do feelings.
"What did you say?" You managed to say in a low voice.
He smiled for the first time since the fight. "I'm so in love with you, (Y/N)." This time, you let that voice guide you and the next thing you knew, you were kissing him, arms wrapped around his neck. He stumbled a bit before he gripped your waist pulling you as close to him as possible.
"I love you too, Monty." You whispered against his lips. It felt like you had been away from each other for longer than just a few days because he couldn't help but play with your hair when your buried your face in his neck and tell you how much he missed having you in his arms.
At that exact moment he wondered why he didn't make a move on your earlier than during the Winter formal, maybe you would have saved him from many troubles, maybe you would have helped him cope with the problems he had at home in a different way because he had to admit it, never in his existence he felt safe and loved until he was with you. "I don't want us to hide anymore." He said after a moment. And it was the end of the sneaking and hiding from everyone when you both entered the cafeteria holding hands. You gripped his hand tighter when people started looking at you, some whispering and some just getting back to whatever they were doing before you walked in. You stopped by your usual table, ignoring Bryce's calls. Jessica almost choked on her sandwich when Montgomery cupped your face and kissed you right in front of them. "I'll see you later, princess?" He whispered against your lips. You nodded and kissed him quickly before he left, Bryce immediately pulling him down and next to him.
Jessica couldn't speak, she kept opening and closing her mouth with no sound coming out of it, eyes wide open, just as Clay who was sitting next to Jeff. "How... What..."
"I guess everything's good between you now, right sweetheart?" You nodded and rested your head on your best friend's shoulder. No more lying to any of your friends. Later that afternoon, you went to Monet's with Alex and Jessica to tell her mainly how you and Montgomery got together and kept it a secret from everyone. Despite Alex not really liking him, he was glad to see you happy and 'whipped'. Tony wasn't there that day but you texted him and told him what happened. You wanted the world to know about you and him.

A Kiss To Change It All (Part 14) - Montgomery de la Cruz
Pairing: Montgomery de la Cruz x Reader; Jeff Atkins x Reader
Warning: Fluff; Jealousy; A little angst
Word Count: 1756 words.
A/N: Not my best chapter. Sorry. I am busy studying for finals that are already coming next week and for the rest of August. I may not have enough time to write anything, but I will try to work on one chapter at least.
Tumblr media
You kept your relationship with Montgomery a secret for weeks.
Weeks of sneaking. The excitement of it never faded away. After tutoring, with no words exchanged, he would drive to the dockside, out of habit mainly. It was your happy place where no one would catch you kissing, talking or simply sitting in a comfortable silence when one of you didn't have a good day and didn't want to talk about it. When it was him, he would rest his head on your lap, relaxing under your soft touch on his face before you moved your fingers to comb his hair. He liked the way you wouldn't ask questions when he was upset and the way you made him forget about his worries by just being there for him. When it was you, he would hold you against his chest, pressing kisses on top of your head. It was a simple gesture but it was comforting in every possible way. But it wasn't the only time you would be together. You mastered the climbing up and down your window, silently and quickly because he often took you out on late date nights to Rosie's when he couldn't sleep at your place. You would often sit facing each other, just talking, as if you were catching up on all the time you spent hating one another for no reason. And when he sat by your side, you would snuggle under his arm, resting your head on his shoulder and enjoying the warmth of his body that slowly warmed you as he played with your hand.
Weeks of cheesy pickup lines, flirting and teasing at inappropriate moments. When you were in the middle of a conversation, he would find it funny to text you the cheesiest pickup line he could come up with. 'On a scale from 1 to 10, you're a 9... And I'm the 1 you need.' or 'Is it hot in here or is it just you?' Those were just two texts among many others, that would make you laugh, earning weird looks from whoever was talking to you. During your tutoring sessions, he would get his chair as close to yours as possible, knee bumping into yours when you wouldn't look at him, hand brushing over yours when you would reach for a book or a pen. "Feel my shirt."
"What?"
"It's made of boyfriend material." He responded with a smirk leaning back in his chair which you make you smile and blush at the same time.
Weeks of lies. It was getting tiring at points. Not being able to be free holding hands, kissing or just talking about him when Jessica started the 'getting you a boyfriend discussion'. "Gosh, why are you so stubborn?"
"Because I don't need a boyfriend, Jess." You sighed and drew your attention back on the untouched food in your tray.
"Valentine's day is next week, are you seriously going to spend it alone again?"
"Yes. I don't like this crap anyways." You rolled your eyes. You always hated Valentine's day, you thought people didn't need a special day to remind their significant other that they loved them and give them a special treat. Plus you knew what Jessica was trying to do: Get you to take that stupid survey that would get you phone numbers from boys that matched whatever quiz you were meant to take. Sheri was the one who came up with the idea, for as much as it was the perfect opportunity for Clay to get a move on Hannah, you found this whole fuss about it stupid. "And I am not taking that damn survey." You spoke when she was about to add something.
"How did you..."
"I just know. End of the story." Now that hidden relationship was getting irritating and terribly frustrating for you because not only you had to keep your relationship a secret but on top of this, whenever you looked at the jocks' table, there were cheerleaders there, laughing like pure idiots to whatever dumb jokes Bryce said. One of them, Kimberly if you remembered her stupid name well, was always clutched to Montgomery's side, desperately trying to get his attention and today was too much for you to handle. Not only she was glued to his side but on top of it, he was actually talking to her, making her laugh, she had her hands all over him and that was it. You gathered your stuff and stormed out of the cafeteria, not bothering yourself to respond to any of your friends calling you. You locked yourself in the bathroom, watching texts from Jeff and Jessica fill your screen until Montgomery's name showed up. 'What's wrong baby girl?' 'Baby where are you?'
"Open the door, (Y/N)..." His voice rose from behind the door.
"Leave me alone, Monty." You responded harshly.
"Bad luck, baby, I am just as stubborn as you. Open the door." He repeated in a cold tone. You knew he would stay there until you give up and you did. You opened the door, pushed past him but he quickly grabbed your arm and made you face him. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing." You tried to free your arm but he tightened his hold around it. "Monty, let me go."
"Not until you tell me what the hell is wrong with you."
"What's wrong with me? Seriously? I am the one that should be asking this damn question, Cruz!" He shot you a confused look. "You probably needed help flirting with Kimberly today, didn't you? Did you expect me to brush it off like I have been doing for the past three fucking weeks?" You wanted to yell at him but it would just drag people in there and that was the last thing you wanted.
"I wasn't. I swear (Y/N), I wasn't."
"That's not what I saw." He let go of your arm. "You haven't talked to me since yesterday after tutoring. I haven't received a single text from you and you didn't respond to any of mine. What am I suppose to do? Just play it cool until you remember that you have a girlfriend?" Your eyes were filled with tears and they were quickly running down your cheeks. All the fears that you had when he first kissed you were back. The fear of him just playing with you, of him getting bored of being with you, that he was just passing time until he found someone much better than you... You shook your head and walked away. He wasn't able to move or say anything, the simple thought that he made you cry made him freeze in his spot.
You skipped class, turned off your phone and locked yourself in your bedroom, tears still flowing from your eyes, ignoring your parents when they came back from work. You just continued crying, face buried in your pillow, your body slowly growing tired and you eventually fell asleep and when you woke up, it was already dark outside. You groaned when you rolled over your back, your muscles sore and head throbbing. "Fuck."
"(Y/N), honey, are you up?" You mother's voice rose from behind your door. You opened the door, revealing your red eyes and nose, tears stained cheeks and messy hair. "Oh, sunshine..." She pulled you in her arms, gently rubbing your back. "Would you tell me what happened?"
"No..Nothing mama." You whispered. "I'm gonna out for a walk."
"Honey, Jefferey is downstairs, he had been here for hours." You sighed. Great. Freaking amazing. Jeff was not going to leave you until you tell him what happened to you to make you ditch school in the middle of the day. And he didn't.
In the car, the tension was so heavy between you and your best friend that it made the air unbreathable. You shifted many times in your seat, pulling on the seatbelt that seemed to crush your chest and looking at the houses outside. "Monty told me everything," Jeff spoke, eyes on the road missing the way you flinched and turned to look at him. "Were you going to keep that away from me for longer than this?" He was pissed. Never in your life had you seen him pissed and never you would have thought that he would be pissed at you.
"Jeff... I..." You sobbed. "I w...was afraid you may not agree..." You had no tears left in your system, your mouth was dry not to mention that your eyes were burning you every time you blinked and now you wanted to cry but you couldn't. "I never wanted to lie to you... I am sorry."
"Sweetheart." His tone softened which made you sob even more in your hands, your breathing was ragged and almost painful. Jeff could almost hear your heart breaking. He quickly parked the car and made his way to your side, pulling you to his chest. You slowly calmed down but the pain in your chest was still there. He pressed his lips on your forehead before resting his against it. "My pretty girl, I don't like seeing you like this..."
"I am sorry... I never lied to you before this."
"I know, (Y/N/N), I know... I am not mad at you, sweetheart." You shot him a confused look that made him smile. "Gosh, why you thought I'd be mad at you for having a boyfriend?"
"Because it's Monty..." You whispered.
He chuckled. "And? If he makes you happy and treats you right, I have nothing to say about it, sweetheart." You threw your arms around his neck and mumbled against his shoulder, your body started shaking again as you restrained yourself from crying again.
"I love you so much, Jeff. I am so lucky to have you in my life." You managed to say in one go when you pulled away.
"I love you too pretty girl, more than anything and I don't want you to hide anything from me from now on, promise?"
"Promise." You cracked a smile. Jeff then took you to Rosie's. You hadn't eaten all day and despite you protesting and telling him you weren't hungry, he took you to you'd call it, your favorite dinner in town. On the way back home, you could still feel the sharp pain in your chest and you started coughing, a little bit at first but it intensified forcing Jeff to pull to the side. "I'm okay." You said before you looked down at your hands, small stains of blood on them. "Actually, I'm not okay."
