was mashiro trying to trap him? was she running a human trafficking business? hanbin doubts were eating him up as he made his way to the spot lee jeonghyeon told him to meet him at. the unknown boy seemed a bit too defensive for hanbin, and he was also asking himself who could be the 'pair' he mentionned.

finally, hanbin arrived around the area given by jeonghyeon, and he noticed him pretty quickly, sitting on a bench with a boy that seemed familiar. seeing jeonghyeon waving to him, hanbin got closer to them, squinting his eyes trying to see better who was the boy with him.

"kim taerae??"

"yeah...that's my name..."

hanbin and taerae used to be very close friends when they were in high school. after graduating, they fell apart like most people do. unconfortable, taerae scratched the back of his neck, while jeonghyeon looked at the two boys in confusion.

"well, i guess you guys know each other." getting no response from the two guys with him, jeonghyeon sighed. "this is awkward, get it together, we have business to talk about."

jeonghyeon tapped on the bench to incite hanbin to sit down with them, and he does.

"so... what did you mean by 'working in pair', jeonghyeon?" hanbin started.

"basically, i'm not y/n's ex. taerae is."

"what? but mashiho told me it was you... what were you if it was taerae dating her?"

"okay, this is gonna be humiliating" said taerae, hiding his face in his hands.

"i'm his ghostwriter." jeonghyeon deadpanned.

a silence fell on the trio. forget about the humain trafficking business, mashiro might be running one, but it was definitly not what was happening right now. hanbin felt like taerae and jeonghyeon were pulling some pranks on him, but the way jeonghyeon seemed serious about it and the way taerae was as red as a tomato was concerning. hanbin coughed to clear his voice.

"what do you mean?"

"have you ever heard of edmond rostand's play called cyrano de bergerac?" jeonghyeon asked.

"hum... yeah, i think matthew mentionned it once."

"you see, in this play, christian is too much of a loser to court the girl he likes. so, he asks his friend cyrano to write love letters in his place."

"are you telling me..."

"i was taerae's cyrano de bergerac back when he tried to get with y/n."

this is when hanbin understood why mashiro told him to talk with this guy. she was advicing him to do the same as taerae, in other words, to ask jeonghyeon to be his cyrano de bergerac. "what happened to you, hanbin? you used to be a perfectly capable man and now look where you at for some girl.." he thought. was it better to just drop the project? were you even worthy of all of this? just when hanbin was thinking of just not courting you anymore, his eyes met your figure that was going out of the college hall, walking slowly with your earphones on, heading somewhere alone. at this time of the day, you were probably going to work. looking at you from afar, hanbin couldn't help but think of the things that attracted him to you. sure, he didn't know you that much now, but he had the feeling that you might be the someone he could at least be very good friends with. it was not just about his ego being hurt by the rejection, he genuinely wanted to know you more. in eyes, you definitly worth it.

seeing hanbin lost in his thoughts, not even looking at them, jeonghyeon and taerae exchanged a confused look before looking in the direction hanbin's was staring. taerae was the one to notice you first, looking back to hanbin. he gently hit jeonghyeon with his elbow to tell him to follow their plan, unknown to hanbin. his partner in crime jumped, before understanding what taerae meant.

"well, hanbin. if you want it, we can help you with that. hire me freely as your cyrano de bergerac and i'll get you to talk with y/n in a way that she will like. even though i don't really understand what you see in her, and i would recommand you to find any other girl-"

"i don't need you to understand what i see in her, this isn't about your feelings for her but mines." hanbin said, cutting him off.

"i was just advicing you, man. you don't have to react like that."

"keep them to yourself if you're gonna speak ill to people i like in front of my face."

jeonghyeon restrained a smile as he gave a quick look to taerae, before focusing back on hanbin. he raised his hands to tell the boy he was giving up on debating this topic, and hanbin sighed.

"look, i really appreciate you guys taking your time to meet me for this, but i don't think this is gonna work." hanbin got up, giving them a polite and awkward smile before leaving with quick steps. the duo still on the bench looked at him from afar, waiting for him to be far enough.

"it seems like he passed the test, right?" taerae said.

"and i'm glad he did that fast, it was hard talking bad about y/n. let's dm mashiho and hao."

⊹ ˚. notes: hi i went insane yesterday and literally listened to the whole heathers soundtrack before going to sleep and then i woke up and world burn from mean girls immediately began playing so my mind is fried, also i was looking at zb1 trying to see which member would most likely be a theater kid (taerae is so obvious is it not?) okay enough of this long ass note enjoy!

murmuring, pushing, singing, bustling, sound checks, and of course, last minute line rehearsals. y/n has been through the process many times, though he officially joined the pre-production team in his sophomore year, he's become used to the chaos which ensues on closing night.

he's already prepared for the tears, the shouts from audience members, the constant reminders from the director that he needs to follow the very specific instructions so that the sound operates correctly and according to plan. he can hear the mutters from the other hundred people either apart of production, pre-production, and theatre staff as they all converse about closing night.

y/n usually never gets emotional during closing night, because he doesn't perform on the stage, it makes sense why the actors would be emotional, but he usually never find a reason to become emotional during closing night, because he was only behind the scenes, he never usually did anything important onstage.

but this year.. this year is different.

y/n listens to everything going on around him, all the consecutive noise blending into his ears and just becoming blurry, but out of all the singers warming up their voices for the final ever performance of the year, there's one that really stands out.

kim taerae.

y/n can't help but admire taerae. he's been in musical theater for as long as he can remember, and he's never met someone who peaked his interest more. taerae has never really done musical theater as a serious thing before (which y/n honestly respects) but his voice is incredible, and he can certainly act amazingly even without any experience in theater.

kim taerae is practically flawless. he's beautiful, he's funny, he's talented, well spoken, y/n could probably listen to him sing for hours and not get bored he swears on his life—

alright, now this just sounds like a rant on how y/n is totally and mortifyingly in love with kim taerae.

which is totally not true! he isn't in love with kim taerae at all!

he just loves every single little thing about him, enjoys spending time with him whenever he can, will listen to him ramble on and on, will listen to him sing and simply admire his voice the whole time, or just admire his face and poke his dimples because he finds taerae to be one of the most beautiful men he thinks he's ever seen in his life.

but he's not in love with him, that would be absurd! that would be crazy.

"zoning out on closing night is crazy" jay mutters, lightly nudging y/n, who was busy admiring taerae. "jesus when'll you ask him out?"

"i have no idea what your talking about".

park hanbin peaks from behind lee jeonghyeon, giggling. "aw, y/n has a crush?"

"i do not, jay's just crazy" y/n states flatly, he hopes hanbin can't see the fact that his face is turning red, it's just the heat in the room! yeah just the heat in the room!

"uh huh, like you weren't looking at kim taerae with lovestruck eyes".

"yeah no you guys are crazy".

jeonghyeon stares at y/n like he's crazy, clearly not buying his act, and y/n glares at jeonghyeon, crossing his arms. "sure y/n, and would you look at that, your lover boy!"

"my what—"

y/n isn't able to finish his sentence when he's lightly pushed forward and he bumps into taerae, how great, he curses at jay in his mind but smiles as soon as taerae looks up at him.

"y/n i was looking for you!"

"you were?"

"i was!" taerae claps his hands. oh my fucking god he is so pretty y/n is trying so hard not to faint with taerae so close, they've been this close before obviously, but it's just so much more different like this, especially tonight, on closing night. "just wanted to talk to you, before the final performance, obviously".

y/n chuckles, feeling like a teenage girl talking to her crush or something. he feels oddly giddy, and it's very embarrassing, but he can't think about that right now. "oh my god, don't sweat it your gonna do great".

"i—" taerae pauses, grabbing y/n's hands, he opens his mouth but then doesn't speak, a little nervousness taking over him, but that's expected, he's doing the lead singing part. "yeah, i know, it's just closing night, and that gets everybody pretty emotional and the stakes are pretty high tonight, you know? i'm just nervous and all—"

"taerae" y/n cuts in, and taerae hums, blinking as he stares up at the other. y/n can't form words for a moment because taerae just looks so.. pretty, god he's going to die. "i have watched every single performance of yours, every single practice, i know you, i know how you are, and i know that your very talented, your going to do amazing".

taerae looks dumbstruck, like he'd just been told the secrets of the universe or something. he just pauses as he stares at y/n, with his wide, pretty eyes that seem to be shining. y/n can't tell what kind of look he's being given, and with the way taerae is staring, simply frozen, worries him a bit.

taerae finally laughs, still holding onto y/n's hands, just swinging them back and forth. "i— your so corny" he looks away, face red. "but thank you, i'll take those words into account".

"were up in five!"

taerae blinks, looking back to y/n for one last time. "okay, that's my cue, do well sound guy".

taerae stands on his tippy toes, leaning forward to press a kiss onto y/n's cheek. he gives him one bright dimpled smile before walking away, giving no explanation for that action.

y/n just stands there, in awe, his face is burning, his face is red, holy shit he probably looks like an idiot right now, but how does one normally function after an action like that? he blinks a few times, just trying to process what just happened.

"y/n! come on places!"

"oh— yeah! coming!"

sniffling, sobbing, sad laughing, happy tears, and crazy hugs. again, y/n has seen this all before, closing night is usually very depressing, and for some reason, the air after the performance ends and all the actors get backstage saddens him.

it could just be because he's a senior and the nostalgia could be hitting him hard, he's leaving next week, then it's off to college and student debt. some of the pre-production crew even get emotional, and y/n finds himself comforting them as they cry.

still, his mind is focused on one person.

he was distracted by taerae the whole time, and to be fair, who wasn't? taerae was amazing, he hit pretty much every note there was to hit, and his acting was simply flawless, y/n found himself smiling every time he came onstage.

so, as he listens to the talking, the sobs, the sniffles, and watches the tightening hugs, y/n's eyes naturally look for taerae, not spotting him at all.

well he doesn't have to look hard.

"hi!"

"ah!"

y/n lightly jumps, startled by taerae and his loud voice. he calms down and smiles as he looks at taerae, who looks like he's on the verge of tears. "gosh, don't scare me like that, taerae".

taerae giggles. "you were right, everything went well".

but as y/n stares at taerae, he seems to begin crumbling, like he's trying to hold in his tears yet can't do it. and he can't, because taerae breaks down and pulls y/n into a tight embrace.

"oh, oh my god, are you okay?"

taerae sniffles, just burying his face into y/n's shirt, and y/n allows it, letting his shirt be stained by taerae's tears. "i— i don't know it's just very hard not to cry during a time like this and i feel like i gave it my all and—"

taerae can't continue, he simply sobs into y/n's shirt, holding onto him like he'll slip from his reach if he lets go. "you know, rae, i am so proud of you, you did so well".

y/n rests his chin onto taerae's head, running his hand up and down his back, a smile coming to his face. "you worked so hard, and you did so well, i'm so proud of you, i'm so happy to have you, i love you".

he's too into the moment to realize what he's saying, but taerae clutches onto him again, taking a deep breath.

"i— i love you too y/n".

what a happy ending, huh?

However, he can't help the jealousy that bubbles up whenever Ricky is publicly in close physical proximity to other people fans ship him with. His Ricky.

"You don't even look cold, I don't know what people are talking about." Gyuvin huffed as he scrolled through X.

New fans were posting once again about how they thought Ricky looked so cold and unapproachable at first, but they eventually learned about his lovely personality.

Ricky giggled. "You just think that because you already know I'm not like that."

Gyuvin pulled Ricky into a hug with his whole body, long legs entangled around Ricky's waist. Ricky Ricky Ricky, his mind replayed the name again and again. Does Ricky know he's obsessed with him? Gyuvin's grip tightened when Ricky tried to pull away.

Gyuvin peppered kisses on his boyfriend's face. Ricky, who eventually accepted his fate, stayed still. He was used to Gyuvin's clingy ass, and he grew to love the affectionate nature their relationship had taken, but there were times Ricky still needed his own space.

"Qubing," he tried again. "I need to finish learning this dance."

The company was finally letting Ricky do a challenge with another group this time, and he wanted everything to go smoothly. Gyuvin pouted but eventually let him go.

"You'll do well. Everything you do is great."

"I wonder who they'll pair me with," Ricky mused out loud. "I kind of miss Jeonghyeon hyung, I haven't hung out with him in a while."

Now, let me repeat, Gyuvin thinks of himself as a sensible man. He knows Ricky and Jeonghyeon are just friends, and he wasn't jealous. Nope. But he couldn't help but think about how the TL would blow up with Jeongri shippers if they were seen together again. He knew it would be big, if the whole ISAC stint was anything to go by.

"You should do it with Seungeon, he really wanted to do it with you last time." Gyuvin quickly said, trying to be subtle. Luckily, Ricky took the bait.

"Yeah, I think it'll be either Seungeon or Yunseo."

Gyuvin had another mini flashback to ISAC when fans caught his jealous ass in 4k when Yunseo was simply helping Ricky with his name tag. He blushed at the memory. To be fair, he wasn't jealous of Yunseo, he just liked to be the center of Ricky's universe.

Ricky needs help with something? He comes to Gyuvin. Ricky wants something? Gyuvin. Ricky has a question? Ask Gyuvin first. Ricky wants an opinion? Gyuvin. He worked hard to become the first person Ricky always turns to.

"Qubing, let's go to sleep. I need my beauty sleep."

"You're always pretty," Gyuvin mumbled, and Ricky ever so slightly rolls his eyes. Fondly.

Gyuvin was restless and distracted by Ricky's Devil Game outfit. Without the coat, the sheer top left little to the imagination. Now Gyuvin is a sensible man, he knows it was just a normal outfit, and the coat actually covered everything.

Ricky had left the waiting room earlier. As a devoted boyfriend, Gyuvin wanted to be there for the shoot and left to look for him. Soon after, Gyuvin overheard talks of Ricky being paired with Jeonghyeon.

"The fans have been asking for their reunion."

"I think it will get a lot of traction."

"Any Ricky challenge will get a lot of traction," said Gyuvin, "And Seungeon wanted to do it with him. It could be like a Yeuhua 04 liner reunion."

The social media managers stared at Gyuvin, who had invited himself into the conversation.

"Gyuvin, did you want to be part of the video?"

"No no no," Gyuvin quickly backed out. "It's Ricky's challenge."

"04 liners, huh? That's actually not bad. Maybe Yunseo can join in, since Gyuvin won't."

Gyuvin grinned, feeling smug and triumphant.

"So, it's either Jeonghyeon or Seungeon and Yunseo. Both good choices."

The managers left to discuss further. Gyuvin paced around nervously, if Ricky knew he had interfered, he wouldn't be too happy. He wouldn't be angry, but not happy. And Gyuvin never wanted to make his Ricky unhappy.

"Qubing." Uh-oh.

Gyuvin looked up to see Ricky and Jeonghyeon heading towards him, Jeonghyeon's hands on Ricky's shoulders. Now, Gyuvin thinks of himself as sensible-

Oh, cut the crap Kim Gyuvin.

"Where did you go? I thought you were going to shoot the challenge?"

"Hello, Gyuvin." Jeonghyeon greeted him, and Gyuvin greeted back.

Okay, maybe he was a little jealous.

"We just went to have some ice cream," Ricky answered.

Okay, he is now a lot jealous. Gyuvin thought ice cream was their thing.

"Aren't you going to shoot the challenge yet?"

As if this was their cue, Ricky got called away for the challenge. Gyuvin saw Yunseo and Seungeon trailing behind the managers and smiled.

"I guess we're not doing it after all, maybe next time." Jeonghyeon patted Ricky, who let out a sad smile.

Gyuvin intently watched Ricky dancing, his sharp movements were always captivating. He didn't realize just how much he'd been staring until he noticed Jeonghyeon was still next to him.

"You couldn't be less obvious, you know."

Gyuvin stared at him, "What-what are you talking about?"

"No one's taking him away from you," Jeonghyeon patted him like he did with Ricky earlier. "He really likes you."

Gyuvin blushed, he didn't care about being obvious. He would let the whole world know about them if he could. But being confronted so directly about his obsessed ass wasn't exactly his idea of a fun time.

"Of course he likes me, he's my boyfriend."

Jeonghyeon chuckled, "We even ate mango ice cream because, and I quote, 'This is Gyuvin's favorite, we should try it.'"

Gyuvin grinned, and he didn't care that he looked crazy when Ricky shot him a confused look from a distance. Ricky really was his after all. Other fan ships didn't matter.

The whole ride home Ricky was asleep, and Gyuvin had a goofy grin plastered on his face. Gunwook was creeped out as they played games together on the phone.

Gyuvin attached himself to Ricky as soon as they as hey got off the car. No one batted an eye. From the elevator ride to walking into the dorm, Gyuvin didn't let go of Ricky for one second.

"Qubing, I need to shower."

"Okay, I'm sleeping with you tonight."

"You sleep here every night."

"Right."

Gyuvin had already showered, changed and tucked himself in to be comfortable on Ricky's bed by the time Ricky stepped out of the shower.

"Come quickly, I miss you."

"It was just 30 minutes."

"And I already miss you."

As soon as Ricky was done drying his hair, Gyuvin pulled him onto his lap.

"I heard about your suggestion from a little birdie," Ricky said, his arms around Gyuvin's neck, fingers playing with his hair. Gyuvin blushed.

"I was just-"

"Qubing, it's fine. But why didn't you just talk to me?"

"I don't know..." Gyuvin mumbled, "I just feel like I'm always hovering around you. I didn't want to sound so jealous or controlling."

"You're not controlling. If anything, I think you indulge me too much."

Gyuvin looked into Ricky's eyes, his sharp gaze earnest and full of love. He looks so much like a kitty, he thought. And he couldn't help but want to tease him.

"Jeonghyeon hyung told me about the mango ice cream, are you sure you're not obsessed with me Kim Ricky?"

Now it was Ricky's turn to blush. He hit Gyuvin on his chest softly, bashful and shy.

"Damage - 0. Cuteness - 100."

"Oh my God, Gyuvin. That was so dorky." Ricky rolled his eyes as Gyuvin laughed.

"Hey, its Qubing to you."

"I love you, Qubing," Gyuvin's breath hitched as he pulled him closer by the waist, "You're so-"

Gyuvin cut him off with a kiss and Ricky let out a sound of protest since he didn't let him finish. But he kissed him back nonetheless. Gyuvin tightened his hold as if he could pull in Ricky any closer, like he wanted their bodies to meld into one.

He pulled away briefly so they could catch their breaths.

"I love you too Kim Ricky."

Ricky smiled, "I know."

Ricky's hands cupped Gyuvin's face, his fingers softly brushed over his eyes, his cheeks, his lips, and his touch trailed down to the mole on his neck and his clavicle.

"You're so pretty."

Gyuvin blushed. Ricky was going to be the death of him. He buried his red face in Ricky's neck, peppering kisses on the tattoo he likes so much, occasionally throwing in his tongue but careful not to leave any marks.

"Qubing..."

Gyuvin looked up to Ricky, who looked flushed. The pink in his cheeks spreading to his ears, his lips were red and slightly swollen from their kiss earlier. Gyuvin groaned at the sight.

He pulled Ricky in for another kiss, this one more heated and with more intent. Ricky opened his mouth as Gyuvin bit down his lower lip and slipped a tongue inside. So sweet, Gyuvin thought, tastes like strawberries and Ricky.

Their lips danced together as their tongue fought for dominance. Of course, Ricky would eventually give in, and Gyuvin took that as his cue to switch their positions, carefully laying Ricky down on the bed, never leaving his lips as he did so.

The next morning, Ricky woke up sore. Thank goodness they didn't have any schedule that day. Gyuvin had gone crazy and channeled whatever jealous energy he had acquired into bed.

Gyuvin's arms around him tightened when he felt Ricky stir. So he whipped out his phone to scroll through his notifications, with Gyuvin's grip on him, he wasn't getting out anytime soon.

Jeonghyeon had told him about their conversation, and Ricky giggled at the memory. Even after all this time, he still felt giddy when Gyuvin confidently calls him his boyfriend.

"Ricky, stop texting when I'm right next to you..." Gyuvin mumbled into Ricky's neck. He shivered at the sensation.

"So, Jeonghyeon huh?" He teased.

Gyuvin shot his eyes open, "Um... I was just saying, you know, in case he tries anything. Had to let him know you're mine..."

Ricky laughed. "Qubing, he's just a friend. You have to be more careful."

"I don't care if the whole world knows..." He mumbled.

"I know baby," Ricky turned to face Gyuvin. "Now and forever, you'll always have me. Remember, we don't need to rush anything."

Gyuvin smiled sheepishly. Ricky was always the more level-headed one of the two, and Gyuvin was always the more expressive one. He gets overwhelmed whenever Ricky openly showed his love in words.

"Qubing, do you understand?" Ricky peered at him affectionately.

"Yes princess, I love you too." Ricky blushed, as if he wasn't the one who started it.

OMG, RED ALERT

friends. A new project group, EVNNE, is coming out, featuring all my faves. You may have already heard about it when it was called something like "BLIT". Anyway... read on for more info!

EVNNE is a new project group featuring: Park Hanbin, Lee Jeonghyeon, Mun Junghyun, Park Jihoo, Yoo Seungeon, Ji Yunseo, and Keita. I'm officially dead!

In case you forget who is who: Park Hanbin -- ended up being my one-pick in the end. The one who had blue hair at the beginning. The one who is the best leader and would always calmly but intensely kick his team's ass in the best way. The one who (1) knew he was going to get kicked out of his own team and (2) learned the choreography of two songs at the same time to protect himself. He was in Hot Sauce and Law and Switch, and made it to the finale. Lee Jeongyhun and Mun Junghyun -- I called them "Mun and Lee" a lot in my recaps, and the show made a lot out of their friendship. They were in the same initial audition group with Park Hanbin and Kim Taerae, when they covered that song by Ateez.

(In that video, Hanbin has blue hair; Lee is wearing a white short sleeved jacket; Mun is wearing mostly black with silver stripes on his pants) Lee made it closer to the finale, as MNET suddenly began pushing him hard. He also wrote the rap in the Over Me performance. Mun was in Very Nice and Ggang, and was supposed to be in Supercharger but got eliminated. Park Jihoo -- one of the two talented guys who did that great audition that MNET didn't show. In my recaps, I was a bit fascinated by the moment when Hui kicked him out of the big #1 chair and Jihoo said, "But I just got here." You probably noticed him for the first time when he sort of took over the Limousine group and helped guide Anthonny and Krystian into making a fantastic performance. Yoo Seungeon was the "titanium voice." Ji Yunseo is a sweet-faced guy who a little bit faded into the background through no fault of his own. They both auditioned with Kick It, along with future winners Han Yujin and Kim Gyuvin. In the Kick It performance, Seungeon is the one with the row of shiny dots on his pants. I can't figure out how to describe Ji YunSeo's outfit so here's a pic:

Seungeon went on to be in Very Nice Yunseo was the main vocal in Backdoor (which I was opposed to at the time, though he did a perfectly decent job). They both were in Home. Yunseo starts off sitting, while Seungeun is wearing the world's most hideous and poorly thought out sweater. Yunseo got eliminated after that, but Seungeun performed in Say My Name, wearing a green tie. And I really hope you remember Keita. You do, don't you? In case you forgot, I think his finest moment is in Zoom. (He's the one in the red hat).

You guys, I am so happy. I know this was announced a few days ago but I've been neck-deep in work getting ready for the August SAT administration and you guys, omg, I've been dancing around the house all day. My fella was like, "oh, how soon until they debut? have they dropped a teaser yet?" and I'm like OMG YOU SPEAK KPOP NOW
