He quietened down to think of the daydream of another life, perhaps he'd be a hockey player, perhaps still a marine, perhaps nothing else would've changed except the end of the world didn't happen, perhaps he'd go on to NASA, perhaps he'd end up settling down in New York or back in Minnesota become a teacher himself. "Maybe so," he simply smiled back with melancholy laced between softly murmured words. He couldn't really imagining himself becoming a dad of his own but the sentiment of it was there. "Perhaps in another life, we'd still come together for this wedding from all our different walks of life." He stopped himself from sitting in the what ifs, knowing he'd drown in them if he let himself.

Ash hummed at the reasoning for the color scheme, something he didn't initially understand other than grumbling of needed a new suit to fit something blue, "hmm, I never knew." He probably would've grumbled a lot less if he knew. He hadn't been one to watch many of Aggie's performances, but even he had at least watch once or twice on the invitation of the other Turner sibling, though never properly meeting her until that faithful day at the blood spilled beach and then as they quarantined together. "I'm surprised Eric hadn't seen one of her shows before," or even let them cross paths in the Wexley considering they were only a few connections of people apart. Perhaps it was fate helping them only meet at the right time.

Ashton stood up with Hannah, carefully holding onto the basket with a corner of the space holding the baby's breath, "I think there had been some blue flowers closer to the water," he suggested with a point in a direction to the small patch of blue swaying in the wind, before he asked with a chuckle, leading the way, "do you think their non-apocalyptic wedding would've still been in Central Park?"

There's a sad smile at a memory of another family portrait she'd done. Maisie and Linds, happy and safe all that time ago at Tobias Wexley's birthday party. In many ways that night had marked the end of a chapter within the community and the start to a terrible new one. Sada's takeover, the months of duress spent walking on eggshells in fear of the group's new leader. It had all accumulated in a loss of life so great Hannah had finally lost herself to the spiral she'd been fighting against for months. Through of series of self destructive events her tumultuous relationship with Butcher had started. Somewhere along the way they both decided to get their shit together and start acting like adults again.

"Maybe in another life you'd recognize the smell." A life where the world had been kinder to them all. Where Ashton had found someone to love and marry and have a baby of his own to rock to sleep at night, filing his nose with the smell of sour milk. She's not sure if this beautiful life would have Jeremiah Rose in it or if the man simply wasn't capable of that sort of loyalty even in this imagined scenario.

She nods both to his comparison of stars and question about matching colors. "Soft blues and whites. It was the color of her costume in her first big show." The painting Hannah had done of it had paid off the mortgage on her parent's home. She continued to pull the flowers until the patch was empty. Hannah stood and wiped her palms against her jeans.

"I like to think that even without the outbreak happening Eric and Aggie would've ended up together." It wasn't exactly impossible considering their respective careers, social circles, proximity to the Wexley. "He would've seen one of her shows and fallen madly in love with her."

(Semi-Serious) Baby Name Predictions for Jeremiah + Hannah

Brynley Noelle and Brielle Grace. Is it coincidence that these 2 names are super matchy, or are Jeremiah + Hannah going for a theme? Is it a "B" theme? A "Br" theme? A theme in which the first and middle names of one child are mashed up to produce the first name of the next, Renesmee style?

(Ok, it's probably not that one, but you never know.)

Here are my predictions for Baby Duggar-Wissmann #3, which I believe will determine whether or not there is a name theme going on.

If they're doing a "B" theme:

As much as I love terrible baby names and themed sibsets, I'll be surprised if they actually are doing a letter theme. Anna is the only one who did a single letter theme, which seems more like a publicity move in keeping with the Duggar brand, back in the TLC days. I assume most of the Duggar kids didn't like how matchy it felt to have a name gimmick, and decided not to do that to their own kids.

Blakely. I hate this name, but it also feels like one that Hannah would like. They could make it even worse by going with Blakelyn.

Bethany or Bethan. Bethany is a little too traditional to match with a name like Brynley, so "Bethan" is a more modern alternative.

Bailey. Could also be used for a boy.

Berea. (Pronounced "bur-EE-uh") A bit of an oddball, but Berea is taken from a name in the Bible. You'll find a bunch of churches out there with "Berean" in the name.

Bennett. This is much more likely if they were having a son, but I don't think this out of the question for a girl.

If they're running with a "Br" theme:

This feels even less likely than the B theme, as it's even more restrictive. However, I do know a family with all Br names, including the mom and dad. (There were only 2 kids, Brittany and Brianna, so it wasn't that extravagant.)

Brenna. "Brenna Duggar" just sounds like it's already a name. I also think it's odd that Hannah hasn't used the middle name "Ann" yet (4 of her siblings have used that as a middle, as it's her mom's), and "Brenna Ann Duggar" feels like it could be a real name.

Brooke. No idea how close Jer + Hannah are to Joe + Kendra. If they associate a lot, they might not want to cause confusion with Brooklyn.

Briony or Bronwen. I regret to admit that I like both of these names, and they feel like classier versions of Brynley.

Brightly. Of the semi-serious suggestions I've seen, this one feels possible.

Breathany. No idea who on fundieblr came up with this one, but it is hilarious.

Bristol. Feels like a name from Teen Mom and sounds too much like "pistol" to really fit the sibset, but it's different enough from the sibset to avoid confusion.

Braelynn. I think Hannah has a little more sense than to use a name like this, but having 3 kids under age 3 might induce some poor judgment.

If they're doing a Renesmee-style name mash-up game:

I'm only throwing this out there because of how weird it is that "Brielle" is so similar to "Brynley Noelle." Whatever middle name they choose will end up doing the heavy lifting in determining the next child's name.

All of these names are inspired by smushing together "Brielle" and "Grace."

Bracyn. I had to get creative and throw an "n" in there at the end. This is more of a boy name in line with Ayden and Brayden, but not implausible. It's like Grayson, but worse. (If there is a "B" or "Br" theme going on, and they end up having kids in the double digits, I could see this name making an appearance later.)

Breeze. The end sound of Grace is not as buzzy as the "z" in Breeze, so this is a bit of creative license.

Gracielle, a super implausible name, or Giselle, a real name that is more in the spirit of the Renesmee game than true to the mechanics of it.

Elise or Alice, combining "Elle" and "Ace" from the ends of the two names in question. Again, more in the spirit of the theme than true to it.

If there is no theme, and Jeremiah + Hannah just have super specific tastes in names:

Emersyn. I was looking for names that match the vibe of Brynley without the matchy "ly" or "ie" ending, and I think this one is a strong contender. (Bonus points for a stupid "y.")

Paisley. NGL "Paisley" is one of those names that I know is awful, but I love it.

Hadley, Emery, Everly, or Kinsley. While these names feel more in line with the Bates family (and I'm not just saying that because Everly is a Bates name), they wouldn't surprise me coming from Jeremiah + Hannah. A few years ago, I would have said the same thing about Brynley, yet here we are.

My top guesses are Emersyn Ann, Brenna Ann, and Blakely Gloria.

Isaiah Bates's girl, Sarah, got to go to Bates christmas&Gil's 60th birthday making them more official and because I didn't add them in july (when the first piture came out) I wanted to add them now

I’m sorry I think I’ve asked you this exact question before about the Caldwells + Duggars but here we go again because I know it broke my brain last time and it’s breaking it now:

With Hannah Wissman and Jer Duggar married to each other, and now Jana and Stephen (allegedly? confirmed?) getting married, what are the “in law” specifics? Are there any? Like If Hannah is going to be Jana’s SIL would that make Jer her BIL and brother at the same time.

I realize I’m putting way too much thought into something that makes no real difference in the long run but it always makes me pause lmao

I don't think there's anything title-wise that would change tbh. As far as the importance of relationships, brother/sister trumps in laws, so Jer would just be Jana's brother, and Hannah is already an in law to Jana, so everything will just stay the same. She's technically kind of a double in law I guess lol but fortunately fundies don't do double, triple, quadruple in laws, or their families would be even more confusing than they already are.

2024 Wrap-Up: Babies

Duggar Family

Shockingly, we had just 1 Duggar grandbaby this year!

Brielle Grace was born to Jeremiah + Hannah (Wissmann) Duggar in late February. She is already slated to become a big sister.

Bates Family

The Bateses welcomed 5 grandkids this year, all of them boys. It's worth noting that we didn't see a grandBates from Jackson + Emerson, who had the rare experience of hitting their first anniversary without getting pregnant.

Miles Kelton was born to Josie + Kelton on February 21.

Weston Slade was born to Tori + Bobby on May 29.

William Daniel was born to Lawson + Tiffany on July 19.

Harvey Gray was born to Katie + Travis on September 29.

Graham Alan was born to Nathan + Esther on October 4.

Wissmann Family

There were 2 Wissmann grandkids this year, both girls.

You know I love me some shitty baby names, and the Keller family delivers. It seems the Keller Reber family is doing an E theme, and we finally got an answer to how the Waller Keller family picks their names (D for girls, P for boys).

Josiah was born to Esther + John on January 17. (Here's hoping this is the last--though I wish we could see what wild choice they'd have made for another girl. Agatha? Eirene?)

Edelweiss Miracle was born to David + Hannah on March 16. What a mouthful. I love how bad this is.

Naomi Christine was born to Nathan + Nurie on July 14. "Naomi" was very predictable, but "Christine" was a pleasant surprise. I had been betting on "Naomi Jill." "Naomi Christine" is, in retrospect, much more pleasant.

Desiree Hope was born to Priscilla + David on July 19.

Maxwell-Bontrager-Bowers-Helferich Clan

Early in the year, Marlin Bontrager announced that he had 3 grandkids on the way. It looks like there were actually 5! Not everyone posts actively on socials, so I don't have names and birthdays for everyone.

Baby #1 was born to Taylor + Susanna (Helferich) Bontrager. Judging by the baby's age, it looks like a honeymoon baby.

Baby #4 was born to Mitchell + Bryn Bontrager in the spring.

Baby #4 was born to Carson + Carolina (Bowers) Bontrager. After Jubilee, Jemima, and Spurgeon, I am dying to know what they named their next kid.

Amelia Marie was born to Jeremiah + Allison (Bontrager) Helferich on August 28.

Watson Joe was born to John + Chelsy (Bontrager) Maxwell on December 3.

Morton Family

The Mortons are on their way to 60 grandkids.

Gabriel Lorenzo was born to Wesley + Rachael Morton on April 24.
