Last night, I saw one of the most inspiring dance shows ever (of course it's different from Pina) and I think it's time for me to get back on my unfinished projects and wear my thinking cap. 

Jerome Bel's The Show Must Go On pushes the audience to be self conscious and remember their presence inside the theater. 

The Show Must Go On examines the relationship between art and life, explores the clash of fine art and entertainment and challenges audience expectations.

In a minimal set up characteristic of Jérôme Bel’s work, a DJ plays clips of popular songs from past eras to more recent chart-toppers while dancers literally follow the instructions of the song lyrics. Surprisingly thought-provoking and poignant, it’s a show about how a choreographer uses signs to stir up emotions, evoke associations and create meaning as a dialogue with the imagination of the audience.

A la Cité Internationale, "Cédric Andrieux", une pièce de Jérôme Bel

La première fois que j'ai vu Cédric Andrieux danser, c'était avec le Ballet de l'Opéra de Lyon. Pour une pièce de Merce Cunningham. Enfin une oeuvre de ce chorégraphe me plaisait, et je sentais qu'il y était pour quelque chose. Hier soir, au Théâtre de la Cité Internationale de Paris, j'ai compris. Car j'en ai un peu appris sur sa vie, et donc son travail dan sla Compagnie de "Merce", comme il dit.

J'étais allé voir "Cédric Andrieux", ce solo conçu par Jérôme Bel et le danseur éponyme (on n'est pas encore en 2012, ma promesse n'est pas encore en cours...).

Pourquoi Cédric a-t-il réussi ce que d'après moi Preljocaj a raté, danser et dire un texte ?

Certes, le texte dit par Cédric est le récit de sa vie. Mais c'est un vrai texte, écrit, travaillé, un vrai texte de théâtre. Cette pièce, ce n'est pas une conférence d'un danseur dans le cycle Moi, Ma vie, Mon oeuvre. Non, c'est une vraie pièce de théâtre dansé, ou de danse dramatique (au sens éthymologique). Le texte que le créateur de la pub d'Air France disait était un texte d'un autre, de Jean Genet. Mais c'était une lettre, pas très loin, donc, d'un récit biographique. Avec Preljocaj, ça n'a pas fonctionné. Avec Cédric Andrieux, dirigé par Bel, ce fut un enchantement.

A tous les deux, merci !

ps : le très long pas de deux du Parc, dont est tiré celui pour Air France, m'avait aussi enchanté, en son temps...

Ancora noi, insieme, a stupirci, imparare e conoscere. Uscire dalla mostra, incontrare due degli artisti e complimentarsi con loro. Poi confessare di aver voglia di abbracciarli. E stringersi, tra risate ed emozioni forti, intense, vere. Certe cose accadono solo in luoghi speciali, con persone speciali e dopo aver vissuto un momento da brivido e bellissimo.
