The joy of finding an old piece of tech needed to enjoy an old piece of media. Followed by the emptiness of discovering that said device is broken and so obscure or uniquely damaged that you cannot find the information to fix it -- rendering it useless &, for the time, hopeless.
The information has been lost, washed away and burried under the metaphysical waves of time until you can learn how to fix it or come across someone who can.
It is a dreadful feeling, but one that may not last forever. Time passes, your skill set expands, and the desire fades as you forget about the device.
Then comes the day wherein you rediscover your itch, you rush through the old boxes of generational possessions, after hours of searching you still find nothing and eventually give up.
Then some time later the item is found once again, placed in a spot where a past version of you thought you would remember it. You manage to apply your newfound knowledge and repair what was once lost.
I fixed my dad's old Technics D93 model turn table today. I worked on fixing the tiny mechanical malfunctions with hands trained by guitar practice and a jewelry crafting hobby, repaired an old RCI connector, and rigged my Fender Champions' 20 amp to the aux port of the receiver.
I put on Blue Oyster Cult's Extraterrestial LIVE album on vinyl from '82.
I pressed play and turned on the turn table.
As a banshee, Joan Crawford's opening piano piece squealed at me and I adjusted the settings on the receiver until a high pitched melody flooded the room with an esoteric howl of a long dead rockerboy brought back from the grave as the music faded once again. The seance temporarily halted, the connection lost.
The needle was damaged. I lifted it and gently realigned it, and, as I placed it back on the vinyl, she roared to life singing:
"Joan Crawford has risen from the grave!"
A companion of mine told me once that janky is hot. He told me so when I spoke of how I played my CD's on an old SONY car cd player & this Fender Champions' 20 amp, and now I believe him.
I am a necromancer of the technomancer's domain. A druid who works not just in the natural ways of the forests' circle, but also in the old ways of the analogue era.
For now I will enjoy my beautiful spectre as she sings for me, until it comes time for me to resurect another long gone beauty.

every time someone mentions that the cybertuck is bulletproof i lose a few braincells, you could make many thing bulletproof doesnt mean you should, and bullets hit a little different than a wall or another vehicle. i could add a metal plate to the back of my monitor and it would be bulletproof, it would not protect the panel at all and would infact make it more dangerous as now a drop would certainly shatter the panel, your vehicle is only as strong as its weakest link and the link is always YOU!
Edit: it couldnt accurately manage 90 miles towing in the cold, the standard range is 340 miles, very usable truck not inconsistant or unreliable at all!
And they didnt even get to a charger that can accept towing trucks, have fun paying extra to unlatch your cargo in the freezing cold!
... why is the charging port located 1 inch from the weel well? Trucks kick rubble, especially when towing have fun breaking your port.

"For [Tanner] Green, the chief engineer at Not a Wheelchair, this is one of the thousand complications standing between his team and a rather lofty goal: upending the manual wheelchair marketplace.
If you’ve heard of Not a Wheelchair, it’s likely because of its owners, Zack Nelson, the star of the 8.8-million-subscriber YouTube channel JerryRigEverything, and his wife Cambry, a para and manual wheelchair user. The Nelsons got into the mobility equipment business a few years ago when they released The Rig, an electric, adaptive off-road device with a simple yet robust and functional design priced significantly lower than anything else on the market. Now, they’re bringing that same ethos to manual wheelchairs.
Not a Wheelchair aims to offer a base-model, custom manual wheelchair at a similar or better quality than most of the insurance-approved wheelchairs in the U.S. for $999.
Yes, that’s just under $1,000 for everything — wheels, handrims, tires, side guards and rigid, angle-adjustable backrest included. And the company plans to have a turnaround time of weeks, rather than the monthslong slog that it typically takes from order to delivery.
When I first heard about this, it sounded awesome and a bit far-fetched. It’s hard to find a pair of quality wheelchair wheels for less than $500. Same with a rigid backrest. How were they going to offer both, plus a custom wheelchair frame without compromising on quality? I drove to their headquarters in Utah to find out...
So how does Not a Wheelchair’s base model chair stack up to other options on the market? I hate to sound like a preacher, but … it’s totally reasonable! It hits the mark of being at least as good, if not better, than the majority of insurance-approved wheelchairs in the U.S.
Touring the factory, I saw other prototypes scattered all around the facility. There’s a beefier, four-wheel drive version of The Rig that the company just launched. There’s a track wheelchair that’s still in development. It’s clear that Not a Wheelchair doesn’t intend to stop at a simple, manual wheelchair. Inexpensive components, more advanced electric off-road devices, power assist, it’s all on the table. “We’re just really excited to see where this leads,” says Green."

Slightly silly but also sort of a serious question, you think Edward watched any youtubers (and I’m talking markiplier, minecraft streamers, matpat, etc.)? because yes if tiktok and whatnot exist in this universe then all youtubers are canon in my head
OH brother he was watching the hell out of some LockPickingLawyer and JerryRigEverything. Maybe even AntsCanada. AND PRIMER I JUST WATCHED THAT VIDEO ON THE EVOLUTION OF ROCK PAPER SCISSORS AND, disclaimer, I WAS mildly drunk, I was deeply enthralled and so very relaxed and I think Edward would fuck with that heavy
EDIT: I ALSO think, in the vein of more Conventional YouTubers like you're talking about, I could see him enjoying any Minecraft creator that does outlandishly complicated challenges that require changing versions, deleting world files to force corrupt, etc.

I can't stand the YouTube channel JerryRigEverything. How easy it is to destroy a phone by deliberately attacking it with edged weapons is not relevant information for the average consumer and I hate his stupid affected cadence.
