Yess sukuna is lying about not knowing flowers.. Body swapped Yuta can't go through gojo's memories, only when the brain swapped he could. That means sukuna, too, can't go through megumi's memories???? Sukuna knows flowers 🌼
In this post, I'll cover:
Conditions to read someone else's memories
Proof that Sukuna knows about flowers and lied to Yuji
WARNING: CONTAINS SPOILERS UP TO CH. 265. PLEASE DO NOT INTERACT IF YOU AREN'T CAUGHT UP.

First of all, let me clear up this misunderstanding about soul swapping.
Body swapping doesn't allow the intruder to read the memories of the person they're intruding in. To my understanding, it's because soul swapping doesn't break the soul's connection from the original body despite the switch - that's why Yuta can't read Gojo's memories and vice versa. The only ways one can read another person's memories are through their soul co-habiting with another in one body regardless if they have full control of the body or not; or if you have a CT that allows you to body hop, disconnecting your soul from one body and connecting to another.
The reincarnated sorcerers, including Sukuna and Angel, can read the memories of the people they're co-existing with in one body - they are the best examples of the former. Kenjaku has a CT that allows their brain to invade a corpse and control it, provided that it is not greatly damaged and has no conditions like a heavenly restriction in it - this is the best example of the latter. So, to read someone else's memories, you gotta co-exist with someone in one body or have some CT that allows body hopping.
Sukuna is still co-existing with Megumi in Megumi's body, so he can read Megumi's memories, though not always instantaneous.

Megumi's Memories???
Sukuna was definitely lying. He certainly knows about flowers. Let me explain.
So here's what we know of Megumi from what Gege revealed from the fanbook.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's an animal-type of guy. He loves animals more than humans, plus he's more into reading, especially non-fiction books (he reads the newspapers, too).
"Oh, but Tsumiki -"
Yes, Tsumiki was into constellations, and most likely, flowers, too. Megumi knows that. But how much do you think Megumi remembers all the things she taught him about them?
Megumi barely remembered about the Southern Cross constellation.

JJK CHAPTER 156
"Yeah, but Sukuna could've seen these stuff in passing."
Okay. Let's look at chapter 265 - RAW. Translated by me, lmao.
Tumblr media
"Asagao (Morning Glories)" "It's Ajisai (Hydrangeas), fool."
Tumblr media
(After Yuji yapped about Sendai and the flowers in this place) "Come to think of it, you can identify things like the names of the flowers, huh."
(Note: I know Yuji used 分かる here, which also means 'to know'. But, in this context, it means 'know by looking at the flowers').
Tumblr media
"..................I guess it's Fushiguro Megumi's memories."
Bro, what's with the long pause? What's with the conjecture? It's a simple question.
We know it's not from Yuji since he's more into movies, and perhaps TV shows since he likes watching TV. So it's either he knows it already or he learned it from Megumi - why hesitate?
"Oh, you're overreacting-"
Here's another panel. Look at how he recognized Yuta's CT from Megumi's memories in chapter 249.
Tumblr media
(Literal Translation) "From Fushiguro Megumi's memories, it is revealed [to me] that the cursed technique of the kid, possessed by the cursed spirit, is Copy." (Kanji of Copy: 模倣, imitation)
You're telling me that this hedonistic beefy guy, who can tell someone else's CT from Megumi's memories from the get-go, cannot tell if the names of the flowers are from Megumi's memories?
Nah, there's only one conclusion. Sukuna knows about flowers and he lied to Yuji. Obviously, his claim was such an epic fail, lmao.
Love ya, Sukuna, but screw you for being a big failure in lying.
TLDR - Sukuna knows about Flowers:
Megumi is an animal-lover, and an avid reader of non-fiction books and newspapers
Sukuna can tell Yuta's CT from Megumi's memories, but isn't sure if the knowledge of flowers came from Megumi's memories. So contradictory. It can only mean one thing - he knows about flowers and just lied to Yuji xD

spoilers for jjk chapter 267
Tumblr media
i still think about this chapter page. the reason i have had a very active thought to yuji being the one that has a more evidential death than megumi, gojo or nobara was chapter three.
chapter three was called 'for myself' and this is just after yuji buried his grandfather and settled towards being a jujutsu sorcerer, but this is also the chapter the trio were built together.
gege akutami likes repetition and i feel like chapter three is something that correlates to chapter 267. because not only is he referencing the sukuna v gojo fight and number three again, which is considered a more luckier number than four — but he's referencing once again yuji's will to fight and to live and also to die in the way that he does not regret.
the chapter is where yuji was asked by yaga why he wanted to be a jujutsu sorcerer in the first place. he is asked if he will blame his suffering on the wishes of the dead, nor should he be someone with regrets. yaga tells yuji it has to be his own will that starts this journey for him and it should also be his will that ends it.
and everytime i look at the title 'for myself' — it seems more like the message that echoes throughout time. that yuji has to choose to fight, to live and even to die with his own will to do so. it can't be someone's choice.
it reminds me of aot's opening chapter being a similar message — 'to you, 2000 years from now.' which is a message passed by ymir for someone to end the cycle of suffering she's going through.
the whole premise of jjk is to end the suffering of a world embued by curses and what the pain of others can bring to a wider world. and so the goal from the beginning is to accept the end, but also to fight against the suffering as you get brought to that end.
and so when you look at what happened in chapter 265, a lot of yuji telling sukuna about his life is also a will to express a sort of finality and acceptance on yuji's part. and its why he pities sukuna in the first place — because unlike gojo, unlike megumi, especially unlike yuji, the willingness to accept death, to accept finality is not there for sukuna.
and that's truly why yuji pities sukuna. because sukuna does not know how to find an end that serves to create a peacable end. for sukuna, there is only chaos, volatility, anger, suffering. which is why he will be nothing but an echo of defeat. because he does not accept an end, a change, a shift. he does not welcome death. he only welcomes repetition, the unchanging, the stagnation of life.
so, when i think of chapter three and chapter 267 together — the balance of yuji's acceptance of what change and even death may bring makes me think that gege's plan had always been settled with yuji dying and that death leading to the shift in the world of sorcery and maybe even the end of curses in itself like yuki theorized.
but all at once, its hard to accept. because yuji is just a boy and to have a boy carry the burden of the world like that as though it is once again like the book 'the ones who walked away from omelas' where society benefitted from the suffering of a child — it makes your stomach hurt and your heart break. because yuji deserves to live, he deserves to have a life that exists beyond this anguish.
yet with how gege wrote everything and how i have never stopped thinking about chapter three for a long while now — its so certain at the sacrifice of yuji. and in a way, the greatest burden and curse for him as much as wasuke's words for him were.
'you should use your strength to help others.' and 'when you die, you should be surrounded by people. don't end up like me.' — yuji has and still does carry all the weight of these words. and he does and he would till the end. and that breaks me apart.
maybe im getting way too ahead of myself, maybe im way too into the build up. gege can always change his mind. but with the way its set up, it makes my stomach hurt knowing that the greatest echo to the jujutsu world changing is a boy of sixteen who has been forced to fight for his life, for his friends, for his peace, for the world's peace by not only the wishes of others but his own too, hoping that this cycle of his suffering is the last of its kind.

Gege said only one out of the main trio and Gojo will survive. They are giving us Yuji's childhood. Yuji is giving up his body to Sukuna for megumi. YUJI IS GONNA DIE, ISN'T IT? GEGE IS GONNA KILL OUR BABY BOY!

ok so Yuji really DID try Talk no Jutsu but Sukuna is just not that kind of villain
tbh that was still a good effort on Yuji's part. didn't Gojo try to do the same?
i just really love how Yuji had an unexpected advantage against Sukuna but he still tried the non-violent route first. when it didn't work, he wasn't even upset about it, kinda even expected it. he's really grown.

his rage throughout this chapter was so quiet, it was definitely a slow build up of rage til the end. for him to have this as a last resort for sukuna, in trying to make him feel sympathy even if he knew it wasn't gonna work felt desperate to me. but that's kind of the beauty in it too, like after everything, the chaos and the deaths of all he loved. ofc he was gonna be desperate and at least he tried. i dont think it was useless. he made sure sukuna heard everything and i think this chapter was a nice one.
yuji :( everybody is cheering you on boy, you tried your best and you did such a good job. im so proud of him

things I loved about jjk265
I love how both yuuji and sukuna were so casual with one another despite their feud and hatred for one another. this is enough of a proof to me that in another world, despite all the things that set them apart, they could actually get along.
I love yuuji’s continuous yapping and sukuna’s grumpy face for the good part of the chapter. honestly, this really shows just how patient sukuna is lol.
I love how yuuji didn’t mind sukuna’s snarky insults at him like it’s something he’s totally used to by now.
I love how yuuji is just a little shit and teases sukuna for shits and giggles
“try it out. unless the strongest sorcerer in history can't catch some crayfish?”  ... “you got an american crayfish. japanese ones are way more rare." “what was that?” “you heard me.”
I love all Sukuna’s “……………” moments throughout the chapter like he was either confused, contemplating or thinking about how to answer.
I love how yuuji was actually really competitive and got cheeky whenever sukuna outperformed him at something.
I love how chill and sarcastic sukuna was. he likes to insult yuuji without ever giving any boasting comments about himself.
I love how yuuji got excited for simple and silly things
I love how sukuna indulged yuuji in all the activities he picked for them.
I love how yuuji wanted to give sukuna a chance and try to show him compassion, despite everything sukuna put him through.
I love how sukuna didn’t mock or insult yuuji for seeing value in others but rather told him that he himself just doesn’t feel anything (he mocked yuuji's hatred towards him tho because of course he did. he just couldn't let it slide and had to let yuuji know that he sucks even at hating him lol).
I love how yuuji’s face fell after realising he didn’t succeed and how his eyes turned hostile when he decided to show sukuna mercy
And I love how furious sukuna became right after he said he doesn’t feel anything.
I love how in the close up of yuuji’s eye you really can’t tell whether it’s yuuji or sukuna. it’s such a juxtaposition it makes my head spin.
I love how yuuji wanted sukuna to understand him and reach him in one way or another.
and I love how sukuna struggled to keep his walls of indifference up throughout the whole chapter and how in result he kept contradicting himself.
and most importantly I love how both of them showed a side of themselves to the other no one else got to see. yuuji showing sukuna his childhood and compassion and sukuna showing yuuji a part of his "human" side.
