Remembering that time I gave Lillian the Silver Scythe kids and how it made her and Jeffory the Golden Heart foils.

Jeffory is a single dad after his wife died in childbirth with one daughter, Abby. Lillian is a single mom after her lover disappeared in the night with two sons a year apart in age, Adrian and Cassius.

They both love their kids, they'd do anything for them, but in different ways. Jeffory will do whatever's right to set an example for Abby, to show her how to be a good person, which results in his death. Lillian will do whatever she can to make it home, and that means never disobeying so she makes herself into a masterful weapon of magick and manipulation and dons a mask to separate Lillian the Mother from Lillian the Juror, one that she leaves at the door when she gets home. Neither of them ever let their kids see the bad parts of being a member of the Jury.

Jeffory dies trying to do the right thing for Abby, only for Abby to not be able to follow in his footsteps because of his death. Lillian raises her kids by the rule of do what I say not what I do, wanting to avoid them following in her footsteps and dooming themselves to a life like hers, only for them to do exactly that.

Cassius ends up in the Jury, which Abby fights against while still trying to be good like Jeffory. She reminds him of the mother he knew at home, and he reminds her of the kind soul in a wicked situation her father was. And their children go on to repeat this cycle that they've started, their families going from old friends to old enemies as the generations pass and no one can be sure how it started anymore.

No one can tell which has good intentions until eventually, one day way down the line in the MyStreet era, Jeffory and Lillian are reborn and the cycle restarts. Jeffory, golden-hearted as he is, opens his arms to the enemy and Lillian, sensing that there is something in him that something in her understands, accepts. Only for them to realize some fourty years down the line that the cycle will continue despite their and their children's best efforts.

Been thinkin about the Jo9 and my MCD rewrite lately, so here's a quick recolor of the lineup I posted a while back :)

Some rambly thoughts about these freaks under the cut for anyone interested <3

Quick recap for anyone who might've missed my older posts, but in my rewrite I've decided that the Jo9 was originally composed of Irena and the other 8 og Divine Warriors. To this day, despite the corruption of Irena's church and the Jo9, the jurors and high priest(ess) are all still representative of the ogs, and wear their sacred colors to reflect that.

I've also decided that each of the modern Jurors reflect aspects of the original Divine, so their uniforms ARE intentional from a creative/storytelling perspective :3

The high priest(ess) represents Irena herself, as both the head of the Jury and as an upholder of her faith and beliefs. Thusly, Zane's holy robes rely heavily on the color lilac, Irena's sacred color.

Janus wears forest green, the sacred color of Kulzak. Janus, much like Kulzak, is wild by nature and impossible to tame. The law of the land is eat or be eaten, after all.

Katelyn wears orange, the sacred color of Menphia. Katelyn, much like Menphia, is a force to be reckoned with who often acts impulsively in her own interests. Only the strongest will survive.

Jeffery wears yellow, the sacred color of Esmund. Jeffery, much like Esmund, is fiercely protective of his friends and family, and would readily give up his own life for the sake of theirs.

Ivy wears lime green, the sacred color of Absol. Ivy, much like Absol, is something of a chameleon, always changing in order to best suit her situation.

Teony wears mauve, the sacred color of Roska. Teony, much like Roska, values hard work and dedication. Her headstrong nature makes a averse to change, for better or worse.

Ivan wears purple, the sacred color of Enki. Ivan, much like Enki, is a careful planner. He understands how advantageous it can to be to know the mind of the enemy.

Edric wears blue, the sacred color of Bekem. Edric, much like Bekem, is as dual natured and unpredictable as the sea. Only the bravest of men dare test themselves against him.

Della wears cyan, the sacred color of Aenia. Della, much like Aenia, strives to be an impartial judges amidst the chaos, rarely picking sides but always fighting to protect her peace.

The colors were kinda hard, since on one hand I had preconceived notions of what colors they should be associated with, but on the other I really wanted them to all be inverse of each other, since I wanted the Divines (and the jurors) to all be foils of each other, more on that in a later post. I ended up picking a few colors that I already really liked and just sort of...adjusting the rest. For example, Menphia's color is the same orange it was before, but now Aenia's color is cyan rather than yellow; I like the purple for Enki a lot, so I just ended up making Absol that lime color, and so on so forth Overall I like these colors a LOT more than the previous ones, but now I'm considering redesigning the Divines to better suit their sacred colors yknow?

What if Janus trained Ivy. What if they taught her to be a merciless killer who enjoyed every bit of the violence she caused. What if they were the one to take the scythe from her hands and train her in swordsmanship instead. What if they gave her all the knowledge they had, but none of the devotion.

What if, after she'd inflicted the fatal blow, Janus was proud of the monster she'd become under their tuitilage? WHAT THEN

one of the most galaxy-brained head cannons ive ever heard was that brian (under valis's name) was a secret jury member.

so the jury names ive accepted (a lot of these ive seen around tumblr/discord) are:

Katelyn the Fire Fist

Jeffory the Golden Heart

Ivy the Venom Scythe

Valis the Dark Mask

Ivan the Red Frost

Janus the Silver Death

Lillian the Phantom Sword

and then the last two are either:

In the last episode of MCD S2, Hyria says ‘Irene had no children, though she always wanted to be a mother’ (i’m paraphrasing here) but in Mystreet we find out Irene sacrificed her only daughter to make Shads relic (which drove him insane essentially)

This therefore kind of implies Irene lied to Hyria and the other DWs by extension…

OR Hyria knows, and lied to protect Aphmaus feelings… which may be less likely who knows.

Small lore bits

Descendants of Irene have revamped lore and are far more important to the story

Levin has abilities, but they aren't unlocked completely until some time after the time skip

I'm thinking of giving him 2-3 abilities: Shield Construction (due to parentage and lore 👀), water manipulation/waterbending, and lightning manipulation (I'm thinking of having him gain it from being struck by lightning ((ALSO a fun reference for how RARE it is for players to get struck by lightning and since DOI will have an actual connection to Irene[player], they get the ups and downs of it)))

After the O'Khasis/Scaleswind VS Phoenix Drop War, all the bodies that had been killed/drowned in the ocean slowly turned into drowned (mob).

The drowned (plus other magical events-areas) end up creating tridents

Yeah, Levin is getting a trident, and he's gonna be channeling the oceans/water/lightning through it (channeling enchantment :)). He plus Malachi will garner quite the reputation... which will also be another reason why Trall [the bandit Michi sold Levin, Malachi, and Zoey too] and others would be interested in them ((another callback to why Irene kept her family a secret))

Levin, trying to protect the last bits of the village as well as his family, ends up flooding parts of Phoenix Drop to cut off intruders and bandits.

With the extra water plus the swamp/Mangrove swamp of the burned down Meteli, the waterways become more dangerous but also extremely helpful

More slimes, frogs, drowned, other water mobs allow for more items to trade, and because Malachi is a trader as well as a monster hunter, it's an added bonus/trade boost. (These bois are doing their BEST to provide for the village ((I just realized I might be projecting onto them by making these children take care of their family as much as they can and having to grow up quicker-more serious oop-)))

That's all for right now. I just wanted to get it down while it's fresh. I'll have to make a Malachi and Levin rewrite post soon, so keep an eye out for that! :D

Where does the Jury of Nine and Shadow Knight armor go when they're not using it? Is it a situation like Erza of Fairy Tail where the armor and weapons are stored someplace else and they just call it to them with magic? I like the idea that it's something like Power Rangers (2017) where the armor is literally inside them and they have to be in a certain mindset to call it forward until they get the hang of it.

It's not that bad for the Jo9, they're almost always excited to be chosen. Seeing how the role can be passed on, I imagine there's a token that proves they're a Jury member that has the armor inside it, maybe it's a piece of armor like a chest plate that lets them tap into the Jury form or maybe they have necklaces like they're magical girls. They're trained by their fellow Jury members on how to bring out the full-on Jury form. When they're replaced, they're stripped of their token and their Jury form with it.

Shadow Knights are haunted by their armor. They can't escape them. They are the token, the focus, and the Calling is what helps them call their Shadow Knight form forward. The armor, the weapons are literally a part of them, and it makes them a weapon of the Shadow Lord. There's no passing it on, there's no taking it off, there is no escaping it just as there's no escaping the Calling. It's Inside You. Forever. You have to use it eventually. You have to learn to control it eventually, or it will control you. The Shadow Lord will control you.

How would that change their physiology? Does the Jo9 get so used to the armor that it feels like it's a part of them, an extension of them? Does it feel like a phantom limb? Does it feel like amputation when it's ripped away from them? Do Shadow Knights' bodies change around their armor? Do their ribcages bend to conform to the shape of their chest plate? Do they have blades just beneath their skin?

Della, the Blessed Seer

Della is one of my ancient MCD ocs who I'm making canon to my rewrite :) since it seems like i'm in a "Talking about my rewrite" mood, particularly the jury, figured I might as well tell yall a lil about her.

She's a young woman, probably in her early 20s, with tanned skin and dark hair and green eyes. She's short in stature and has an average build. She typically wears a headscarf for religious reasons, like many others in her deeply religious hometown. It was a happy accident that her headscarf also covers up her pointed ears, a trait inherited from her witch father.

She was born with a natural inclination towards magic, also thanks to her witch ancestry, and most prominently she began receiving prophetic visions in early childhood. Her mother told her that she was blessed by Enki, god of magic, but that she needed to keep it a secret. Della took her mother's word, doing her best to keep her powers hidden. All good things must come to an end however, and her secret was revealed when she had a prophecy of her mother's death, and tried everything she could to prevent it to no avail; in her grief, she revealed everything, gift of prophecy included.

Word traveled fast across Ru'an, and before long the then-High Priest of Irena offered her a position in the Jury, saying she could help countless people with her prophecies. Scared and now alone, she accepted, and became the youngest ever Juror.

Zane took over the position as High Priest shortly after Della's own induction into the Jury, and seeing the benefit of having a prophet in the Jury, allowed her to stay. Being so young, she was easy for the O'khasian upper class to manipulate, and as such she would follow whatever orders given to her, too afraid of being accused of treason and being executed as a traitor. She served the Jury under Zane for many years, until one day Zane left O'khasis and never returned.

He was presumed dead, and just as Della had feared the outraged people of O'khasis branded her as a traitor to her nation, claiming the she was either a fraud, or had prophesized Zane's disappearance and deliberately didn't say anything. Mass hysteria overcame the people, and to appease them, she was publicly executed not even a month after Zane's presumed death.

In my MCD rewrite, 17 year old Janus NoLastNameGiven looked at Irene's obsessive and violent boy toy (Mortal Edition) said "yeah I'll absorb that form of love into my belief system", and proceeded to become a Juror, going on to kill thousands. And you know what? Xavier would be proud.
