AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

1. That was only half of a movie. Not satisfying narratively.

2. Booker's storyline is wack. Letting the suicidal character commit suicide is dumb. I'm cry.

3. I did like the Joe/Nicky moments

4. I like that Joe had been checking on Booker.

5. Quynh rage understandable, solid progression. Fight scene with Andy solid.

6. The idea that Nile had never injured anyone on the team sparring??????? Bizarre and unlikely.

ALSO still thinking of Joe saying, “We abandoned him” like ohhhh my god the amount of characterization in that one line. Joe’s terror is being without Nicky and he looks at Booker who has no one except their little family and he cannot, absolutely CANNOT, leave him like that. And Joe being the last one to look back at Booker as they’re leaving in the first one…yeah. Joe just wants his family together. He’ll forgive betrayal because being alone is the worst of the worst, an eternal hell, and he can’t leave his brother to that.

I love that scene so much. 😍 This movie is one of my comfort movies especially because of the wholesomeness of Joe and Nicky.

I finally watched The Old Guard and tumblr did not adequately prepare me for how funny the van kiss scene actually is. Like I've seen whole gif sets of Joe's impromptu love poem but that's not the half of it.

Everyone is so taken aback they fully just watch for a whole second in, presumably, homophobic horror before all simultaneously deciding This Cannot Stand

So Joe asks the official. "Can we have two golds?" ---- Or, Olympian high jumpers Joe al-Kaysani and Nicky di Genova's terrible, horrible, no good, very bad five years, which culminate in a historic win for both, in more ways than one.
