I'll probably never actually do anything with this so I'm throwing into the void and making it public domain.

Johanna Constantine is a photographer who does a lot of boudoir photography. One day she gets a client who is doing some boudoir wedding photos for his fiancé. Hob is very charismatic and outgoing but also very self-deprecating- the large smile and laughter doesn't change his words "my soon-to-be-husband looks like royalty and I'm mister peasant over here so I figured I'd gift him some pics of me actually looking like I'm even close to the same league."

Johanna huffs and rolls her eyes as she does and makes extra sure that her client is feeling good about himself by the end, giving him a slap on the back on his way out and a gruff "if he doesn't think you're gorgeous you should ditch him at the alter."

A day or two later, she has another boudoir wedding shoot. Morpheus is stoic and poised but also tense and nervous, "My fiancé is. Stunning. Gorgeous. Like something out of a painting," he sighs sadly and looks down at his hands, "I feel like a corpse next to him. So I thought... maybe you could help make me look more...?"

Johanna has no intention of editing this man to Hell like he seems to want, and she has a proven track record of stubbornness, so she makes him go through the shoot and makes him look stunning exactly as he is. She's good at her job. And when he leaves she softens just enough to send him off with a quick "cheer up, mate. He sounds like a good fellow. I bet he sees you better than you think."

A few weeks later, she gets a frantic call from a friend- Lucienne explains that her best friend's wedding photographer dropped last minute, and while of course if Johanna is busy or cannot do it she would not fault her but it would really mean so much and her friend is loaded so she'll probably get paid extra-

Johanna will deny that she had been packing up her camera as soon as she heard Lucienne's stressed voice. It was definitely the money that got her moving. Definitely.

It is honestly a little infuriating spending hours taking photos of Morpheus and Hob- the two clients who were each convinced that the other didn't find them attractive- making absolute heart eyes at each other. Her camera roll is filled to the brim of snapshots of each of them looking at the other like the most beautiful things in the world. All love and adoration and- she would be charging extra for these pics- undisguised lust as the night goes on and the champagne starts to hit them.

It's obvious that they're made for each other. The two biggest idiots in the world they were. Both of them so blatant in their attraction and both of them completely oblivious to the other's.

She was definitely charging them extra.

Sandman Sneak Peek Analysis

There is Brief Lives in this, but you’ll miss it if you blink…

Is everyone recovering? 🤣

So we obviously got our fill of thirst traps, but I wanted to analyse the sneak peek (click to watch) a bit more closely.

Many people were commenting they only see Season of Mists and Song of Orpheus in the clip, but I don’t think that’s true. We obviously don’t know what exactly they did to the arcs and what might have changed, but I still predict that the first batch will be Season of Mists and Brief Lives (with other stuff thrown in, I wrote about it here). [I think we also saw a clip from Thermidor in the sneak peek, and that Lady Johanna Constantine was in it, but that just as an aside.]

So let’s start with stills I think are definitely from

Brief Lives

I honestly think it’s this (they’re lighting his face from below for a campfire effect, there are candles etc):

We sleuthed a bit more across several platforms, and some clever people pointed out this:

These two frames appear in different places of the sneak peak, so we can’t know for certain if they are from the same scene. It is possible though. And if they are: He is wearing his ruby on the one to the left. It’s hard to tell if it’s the same thing to the right, but it could be? If so, that would mean this could be from Song of Orpheus instead of Brief Lives.

He does wear a clasp in Brief Lives all the way through, so that’s also possible, but again: If these shots are from the same scene, which it honestly looks like, I’m now leaning towards Song of Orpheus, and this particular scene (there’s a fire there, too):

Plus, if you zoom in and squint really hard, he seems to be wearing something on his shoulder here, too:

What else?

We see Despair’s Realm. But we don’t in Season of Mists. So this is either Brief Lives, or they give us a bit of Three Septembers and a January (which I’d love tbh, but I’m not going to hold my breath).

Next:

I think this could be Ruby’s/Wanda’s death/the fire. It’s really hard to see, but that could be Indya Moore sleeping? Let me know what you think…

Then this one:

I bet my bottom dollar this is Suffragette City and Ishtar’s dance. Now, the bottom panel is a tricky one because in the sneak peek, it’s actually right after the shot of (presumed) Wanda, so my initial response was it’s the fire. But the curtains look exactly the same as in the one with Ishtar’s dance, plus I think the glass is also in both shots. Which makes me think they either just put those scenes randomly together in the clip despite them being separate, OR that they changed the arc a bit and pulled Wanda/Ruby and Ishtar’s dance together. Either way, we’re definitely in Brief Lives I think.

I cackled like a lunatic when I saw this. IYKYK, but I somehow didn’t expect them to give us that one. Hurray (or not, depending on whether you like spiders I guess 🤣)

These ones with Lucienne are hard to place, and they could be anything, but they somehow give me stronger Season of Mists than Brief Lives vibes, although both is possible.

Hi! I am a huge fan of your work and I was just wondering what inspired you to diversify the Sandman when adapting it for TV? I watched the show when it came out and have since been insufferably obsessed (I literally never shut up about it if I'm honest). I was gifted the first few editions of the comic not long after and noticed differences like Lucienne being a white man as opposed to the female black actress that portrays them in the show. Johanna Constantine obviously also changed to a woman and Desire's pronouns changed from it/its to they/them. Obviously I think its awesome that you're adding diversity to something that was previously not as inclusive, but I just wanted to know at what point between learning the series was being adapted for television to the show being on Netflix were all these decisions made and why.

I think all of the changes you mention were discussed and agreed at the dinner David Goyer, Allan Heinberg and I had on the Friday night before we pitched Sandman as a TV show to Netflix (and Apple and Amazon and co) in June 2019.

OK, so for past couple of months, I have watched almost every single live action DC movie or show that I can get my hands on, and out of all of them, these are the adaptations that I like the most for these particular characters; this post will probably be quite long because there is a lot.

This is all done over voice to text, so if something is repeated or doesn't make sense, that's why, I tried to edit it but it sounds and reads normal to me, so I apologise in advance.

The new Superman just came out so I'll start with him.

Smallville was my first introduction to the character Clark Kent, so he gets the number one spot, but I have just recently watched Superman 2025 and I think it's safe to say that David is the Superman that I claim as mine. There were bits of Henry's portrayal that I liked but overall I thought he was too dark for someone that is supposed to be the light in the darkness, Tyler's Superman is also a really good example of a good adaptation in my eyes but that one focuses more on his life with his kids.

The first ever adaptation of Batman that I ever saw was in The Dark Knight Rises with Christian Bale because my mother was in love with him, so Christian Bale's Batman was the first ever DC project that I watched, but I have always claimed Ben Affleck as my Batman, up until Robert Pattinson's Batman came out. I don't care for that little shit from Gotham or the old man Bruce in Titans so I have nothing to say about either of those.

Wonder Woman for me was always Gal Gadot but only because of the first movie, I don't mind the Lynda Carter version but Gal Gadot has always been my Wonder Woman and I know that we don't like her but she was one of my gay awakenings so yeah, but I am open to literally anybody else.

There's only ever been a couple Green Arrows in the live action world, Justin Hartley was my first ever Green Arrow and he will forever be my Green Arrow. Stephen did good and I liked him for a time but I grew out of his schtick, I mainly just watched Arrow for everyone else.

Ray Fisher is and always will be my Victor Stone. Fuck you Whedon.

I think my first ever experience with The Flash was from Bart Allen in Smallville because I latched onto that motherfucker so god damn quick. Kyle Gallner has forever and probably always will be my number one. I did watch Grant Gustin's version of The Flash all the way up until Legends of Tomorrow started and then I completely abandoned him, but from what I remember I mainly watched his version of The Flash because of everyone else.

Aquaman for me was a character that had a part in the way that I am today, like many of the others my first introduction to Aquaman was Smallville, Smallville was also my first introduction to Alan Ritchson and that has stuck with me my whole entire life, the only reason I think I even know who Aquaman is, is because of Smallville. Then when it was announced that Jason Momoa was going to play Aquaman, I bet you can imagine how that went. At the time I was heavily obsessed and in love with Jason Momoa, so it was positive. Nowadays I only watch the Aquaman movies for Orm.

I do not care for Hal Jordan and I wish nothing but death upon him.

Say what you will about the Snyderverse, but you have to admit, the Snyder Cut is really fucking good. That opening shot is what made me change my mind on Henry Cavill's Superman. His pained death cries, get me everytime.

John Constantine. My first ever introduction to him was at three o'clock in the morning, I was watching TV in my grandmother's lounge room, when I was supposed to be sleeping and an episode of Matt Ryan's Constantine came on and I fell in love with him immediately, from then on the only person in my eyes that can play Constantine is Matt fucking Ryan. I watched the Keanu Reeves version like a year or two ago and I like it, but Matt Ryan will forever be my John Constantine. I don't know if Jenna's version of Johanna counts as John Constantine but I liked her as well.

The only live action Harley Quinn that matters is Margot Robbie.

I for one liked both of the Suicide Squad movies, though they both make me cry every time I watch them so I tend not to watch them. But I did get Peacemaker out of the second one and Peacemaker is one of my comfort shows (mainly because of Adrian).

I don't know how the internet feels about the Shazam movies but they mean a lot to me and I honestly can't tell you why.

Out of all the live action TV shows ever made for or in the DC name, Titans is the only one that I genuinely love. Yeah there are some things in there that piss me all the way off but the casting was pretty good and it made me happy. I don't know how many of you actually remember the fights that I would get into on here defending that show and I regret most of them but when it came to Jason Todd and especially that version of Jason Todd, I got very territorial and I don't regret it. Almost everyone on here and everyone in the actual show treated him like shit and I will not stand for it.

I had so much fun watching the first two seasons of Doom Patrol I haven't gone back to it but from what I remember I loved it.

Speaking of shows, Gotham had some of the best casting choices for DC characters that I have ever witnessed in my life, I fucking hate the Joker but Cameron did so goddamn good as Jerome and Jeremiah. Anthony will forever be my favorite version of Victor Zsasz, Ben's version of Jim is probably my favorite, my Riddler will forever be Cory (tho Paul did pretty good). Robin is probably the only Penguin that I'll ever like. Benedict Samuel did so good as the Mad Hatter. Peyton is my vote for Ivy, forever. Give me a live action Ivy & Harley movie.

Legends of Tomorrow is still by far the greatest fucking show that I've ever experienced, I don't have anything negative to say about any of the casting choices. Because they bought back my Constantine, yes killing him off did drive me off and I didn't watch the last season but I did say I was going to do that so… when I said before while talking about Arrow and The Flash, I said I watched them for everyone else, Legends is what I meant, all the characters that came from those shows to be in the main cast in Legends of Tomorrow ,they're what I was talking about. Wentworth Miller has been in my life for a very long time, Leonard Snart and Leo Snart will forever hold a place in my heart. I love Sara, I tolerate Ray, I don't know how I feel about Dominic Purcell but I like Mick. The only Jonah Hex that I like is from Legends of Tomorrow.

I watched the first two episodes of Swamp Thing and from what I remember I fucking loved it. I will end up rewatching it at some point over the next couple of weeks so I'll be back with more for that but I know that I did love it.

Like I said before Peacemaker is a comfort show for me at this point and the only reason I even started watching it was because of Adrian.

Does the Sandman count as a DC project? The Sandman is a DC thing but are we counting it as an actual DC thing because there's not really any superheroes in it, there's just the Endless.

I gave the cat king a last name only because i wanted to make a moon moon joke and giggle about it to myself. His full name in this au is Thomas C.K. Kocurek (little tom cat) and it will probably never be mentioned again. Don't ask me what the C & K stand for bc idk lol

Crystal got a cat when she first moved to LA but it ran away. She will eventually get another kitty.

Charles does a cover of von dutch by charli xcx on BBC radio 1 because he has the accent. It's super cunty and used in a lot of tiktok edits of him.

Continuing from above: Charles and Crystal cover each other's songs all the time. It doesn't help with the dating rumours but they can't help it.

Monty actually bought Charles' first album when it came out and you best believe he's taking that info to the fucking grave.

Esther 100% got Monty into child modelling when he was 3-5. She tried to get him into acting when he was a bit older but he hated it. Now he moonlights as a model occasionally.

Jenny has an on again off again thing with Johanna Constantine and the status of it 100% affects whether or not Edwin will get to keep the CONSTANTINE brand collab for Crystal and/or Charles. He has no idea.

Edwin can drive but can't cook. Charles can cook but can't drive. Crystal can cook and drive but she hates doing both. Niko absolutely should not do either, BUT she's weirdly good at baking cookies. Nothing else.

Niko makes all her own jewellery. She made Edwin a woven bracelet for his 21st birthday which he wears often but it's mostly hidden by his long sleeves. She made Monty a badass black obsidian necklace he adores.

Charles doesn't like his first album apart from two or three songs.

Crystal auditioned to be a part of a girl group when she was 16.
