in college it's a little different. for academic relationships someone is Dr Lastname, but if I work for them they're doctor firstname.

I've worked for mate Mike, mate josh, mate jordi captain Beth, captain moe captain woody captain Michelle captain josh. (all firstname)

on freshman cruise I was under mate Ryals, mate seleska, mate flynn and captain Solana. all lastnames. I got taught ship handling from Mr Cosgrove and Captain Reiman.

JT (a man, not a doctor, but in his master's program)

for reasons I cannot describe, this is very important.
