Joy's legs wanted to move on instinct. She felt them buckle as they tried to rush her toward the door. But she wasn't a little girl anymore.

Instead, she rushed to her father's bed, ignoring her own pounding heart. When Grumpy had mentioned nightmares that kept the whole cottage awake, Joy had expected them to be about something more ... recent. Not this. She'd locked this memory away, but now she could almost smell the fiery smoke and hear the desperate yelling.

"Papa?" Her voice was shakier than she wanted it to be as she leaned down over him. "Papa, wake up. It's just a dream, Papa!" Tears sprung unbidden to her eyes. She'd said she could help, but she wasn't as sure about that anymore.

I’ve been reading you Left Behind stories on Archive and Fanfiction and you are a very good writer. I grew up with the kids books so I’m always happy to read other peoples fill ins, or in your case rewrite. Especially since we didn’t get. Vicki, to me, had always read as queer-coded and specifically bisexual. The writers had alluded to her being very sexually active in her past, and it just made sense for me to write her as bi. Also, I think it's incredibly important to write queer Christians and show that the cross is not exclusive and anyone in the LGBTQ+ community can be a Christian, if they so desire. It's more a message designated to fundamentalist Christians than anyone else, but it's something close to my heart.
