    While numerous reports have described prolonged symptoms after COVID-19, the pathogenesis of post-acute sequalae of SARS-CoV-2 (PASC) remain unknown. NIH researchers now report early findings of an ongoing longitudinal study of PASC.

No between-group differences were noted for laboratory findings (including inflammatory markers and cytokine profiling), neurocognitive tests, pulmonary function tests, and echocardiography. However, patients with PASC exhibited poorer quality of physical and mental health and shorter 6-minute walk times.
