land of milk and honey by c pam zhang, 4✨ - an incredibly interesting post-apocalyptic concept centring around a world where food has become scarce apart from one mountainous region in italy where a billionaire and his scientist daughter have cracked how to produce anything they may want or need. i could have done with some of the themes being fleshed out more, and the ending wasn't very believable to me in relation to the characters personality, but a good read with some beautiful descriptive passages!

lambda by david musgraves, 2✨ - so incredibly on the nose with some things that musgraves could have had a real gem on his hands here, but the concept became too confusing and the timeline of events not very cohesive. i found myself skimming near the end of this, accepting defeat and knowing i would never really understand the overarching plot of this book

dept. of speculation by jenny offill, 1.5✨ - a bore fest. so incredibly boring. a struggle to get through. nothing revolutionary or interesting in this book at all. i've read books that have tackled the topic of motherhood much much better than this

going dark by julia ebner, 4✨ - a really good intro book to extremism groups and the tactics they use. i imagine if you have read books such as men who hate women, you may find this a bit too simplistic, but for me, this was a great book to throw me into the concepts and knowledge surrounding extremism and the ways in which we are all susceptible to falling into their lure. kudos to ebner as well for her bravery in infiltrating these groups.
