Julia Gnuse aka The Illustrated Lady had 95% of her body tattooed and held the Guinness record for the most tattooed woman in the world. In her 30s, she was diagnosed with Porphyria, a condition that causes the skin to blister from sunlight. Julia started getting tattooed to cover up the scars caused by the blisters. A friend of hers who was a plastic surgeon, suggested that she get tattooed in a pale skin tone similar to the scars, which ultimately did not work out. Instead she opted for colorful tattoos​ including her favorite cartoons, actors and even a self portrait. She appeared on multiple TV shows including Guinness, Ripley's Believe it or Not and Larry King. She played a small role in Aerosmith's video for their song, Pink. A statue of her is in the Guinness museum in Japan. Julia worked in several industries, but her favorite was her own business, Sweet Temptations where she sold homemade cookies and pies for nearly 10 years. She died on August 11th of 2016 at 61 years old.
