oc world basics

the most need to know information is that gods exist and there are multiple worlds/planets with all kinds of races and people inhabiting them. yuppeeee

God Stuff

karma - the universe itself and its will. sometimes referred to with she/her pronouns depending on the feelings of whoever is talking about her

the creator - the main god and technically the avatar of karma

titans - gods based off of things like time, space, desire, instinct, balance, etc. they weren't created, they just are

pantheon - gods chosen by the creator to help protect the balance against the bad

god arms - deity-like beings chosen by gods to be weapons to aid them. have actual weapon forms. cannot be wielded without consent

demigods - anyone born with at least one godly parent. can sometimes have abilities similar to their parents

malikira - the manifestation of hate and darkness and shadow. is always trying to steal karma's vessel (the creator) due to not having one of his own

shades - people and creatures that have passed on and then subsequently resurrected by malikira by being infused with shadow. will always have shadow powers and some sort of mask, but they can make it appear/disappear at will

Races/People (not an exhaustive list, just the main ones)

mulkann - the main race of mulkannbi. usually on the taller side. furred with pointed ears, more animal-like noses, clawed nails, long tails, and paw feet. their world, mulkannbi, is said to be the origin of the gods. mulkann are born with magic, usually elemental based

tourran - the main race on tourra. typical modern fantasy/sci fi stuff. more of a catch-all than one homgenous people. demons, angels, furries, robots, humans, ghosts, monsters, etc. even if they don't have

earth humans - earth humans are different from tourrans and humans born on other planets because they do not have inherent magic due to their planet not having it. make the perfect vessels due to not having any magic to interfere with possession.

Locations

mulkannbi - more fantasy looking/magitech leaning as opposed to modern technology. no big vehicles or anything like that. lots of festivals and leisure

tourra - pretty much like modern day earth technology-wise but with an even bigger focus on the entertainment industry and less capitalism.

earth (destroyed) - rest in piss

the golden throne - literal golden castle tucked away into a fold of space somewhere. godly business and meetings are conducted here as needed, but it's not often. getting called to a meeting is a Big Fucking Deal

inner sanctums - each god has one of their own. kind of like a piece of their heart/mind they can physically be in/bring people to. if you're invited to one, you're very lucky

You have a lqr x emperor au?? tell us please!

First off: sorry it’s taken me so long to respond to this! I simply have a lot in my brain, particularly concerning this AU of mine, and so I needed time to collect myself.

Basically, it started with someone in the Xuanli discord, can’t remember who, mentioning that there is, apparently, a canonical emperor in MDZS, disconnected from the chaos of what actually goes on in the novel. I thought (and still think) this is very funny, and made a joke about how he’s probably getting people coming to his court to petition, or something, complaining about the YLLZ digging up dear old grandma and using her in some cultivator war, and the Emperor having to be like “Sorry, citizen! Not my juristiction!”

After that, someone (again, cannot remember who - might’ve been me, even!) brought up the idea that someone from our cast of cultivators, probably the old generation, is keeping him updated on the ongoings. “Probably Lan Qiren,” I said. “Maybe they’re pen-pals!”

And then I spiralled.

See, LQR was hot. (Is hot, if you’re into... GILFs? I wouldn’t really call him a DILF. I think it’s the length of his facial hair.) With that in mind, I had what I would comfortably call a galaxy-brain moment: what if the Emperor is in love with LQR?

So. I started plotting. Perhaps they met while the Emperor was still the Crown Prince, long before the births of the Twin Jades and everyone else in their generation - some 40 to 50 years before canon. Maybe LQR’s/Papa Lan’s father was the pen-pal of the previous Emperor, or every twenty years or so the various Sect Leaders of the cultivation world come together (with or without their heirs) to meet the Emperor, or something. IDK politics. Either way, during this time period, LQR and the Crown Prince meet, maybe have a romantic couple of days, and promise to exchange letters. In this scenario, they would continue to exchange letters throughout the events we know of in the canon timeline of MDZS, from Papa Lan taking Madame Lan as a wife and going into seclusion, to the births of the Twin Jades, and so on. With this set up, there comes a point where the Crown Prince-who would, obviously, become the Emperor somewhere in there-becomes perhaps the only true friend LQR has.

So. Some point, after LXC comes out of seclusion after healing from the events of canon and after Wangxian come home from their honeymoon across the cultivation world, LQR. Has enough. It’s not that he’s leaving, per say - he’s going to the capitol city of whatever dynasty MDZS is vaguely set in on official business! He just. Stays longer than he has to. Visiting an old friend, if anyone bothers to ask.

This is, of course, the first time in some... 30 or so years since the Emperor and LQR have seen each other face to face. The Emperor, who has a harem and many children and is, now, probably in his mid-to-late 60′s, freaks out. LQR looks roughly the same as when they last saw each other, bar some gray hairs; meanwhile, the Emperor has deep crows’ feet at the corners of his eyes, and laugh lines, and after some injury or another he walks with a slight limp. He is also still very much in love with LQR, which he thought he wasn’t, since he genuinely did love his wives! He does! It’s just... Not the same. (No love is the same, is what his first wife, the Empress, tells him when he confesses this to her in tears.)

The Harem start scheming. Not in the whole... Harem intrigue, I’m-the-Emperor’s-true-love sort of way, but in the let’s-get-our-husband-a-husband way! They don’t all like each other, because of course they don’t; I think I wrote somewhere in my very messy outline that there are, like, 14 of them. However, they all do care about their husband, in some way or another, and it’s been around 10 years since the Emperor took another spouse, so, frankly, the Harem could use some entertainment. The New Crown Prince, the eldest of the Emperor’s male children, and a couple of the younger ones, are all in on it, too, because the Emperor is well-loved, damn it, and they want to see their Royal Father happy!

I imagine Parent Trap-esque shenanigans from the Princes and Princesses in on the Harem’s plot to get LQR and the Emperor back together, and completely unsubtle talking-up of the Emperor’s prowess and kindness, or something, from the Harem. LQR is not stupid - he would notice something is going on! He’s also dealing with his own thing, though; namely, that he is not as removed from human desire as he thought he was, and he still very much carries a torch for perhaps the one man he cannot have.

That’s right. Mutual pining, peanut gallery shenanigans, supportive-if-petty Harem members, insecurity, and the different ways you can love a person (or people!) throughout your lifetime! Those are the essential parts of this AU!

It’s going to be a long time coming, though. As you might’ve noticed, I have not named the Emperor. I’m going to need to look through the various names of real Emperors throughout China’s various dynasties, as well as naming conventions for royal families, which may or may not be different from the sorts of names members of the aristocracy or common folk may have (I do not know! I need to find out!) and I haven’t had the time to do so. So, no name for the Emperor yet, but I know the vibe I want the name to have. I want the name, and the Emperor, to have an inherent gentleness to it. I imagine him to be a kind man with a strong sense of justice, and I want a name that says that. Some of the Harem members have place-holder names, for now; in my outline, I mostly refer to them with surnames. (The Empress’s surname, in case you’re wondering, is Zhou!)

So. That’s the AU, dear anon. Took me a while to type this out! Not as long as it took to answer this ask, though :P If you, or anyone else, for that matter, have any further questions-or name suggestions, please help me-feel free to ask! I love talking about my more out-there AUs, and this one... is out-there, I think. Fun to think about, though!

WIP Challenge

Beginn Chapter 5: spoilers spoilers spoilers shhhh. Actually, I can say a few things: this is like 2/3 angst. Fun for me. Not for Kix. Annnnnnnd there may be an Umbara mention this time. Last chapter was an Umbara reference, this would be a mention (yes there’s a difference)

WKatMAM Part 4: It’s family reunion time! Putting 2 Fetts within the vicinity of each other can lead to chaos, so you can imagine what having all 44 of them at one place is like. Fives makes a meta joke, it’s great. In the “getting lost” thing, we’re down to Boost and Wolffe, so place your bets on which one haha.

I’ve Got You, Brother: This is what will be my contribution to Cody week, provided I finish it within this week or the next. Basically, a compilation of various moments where Cody is a great big brother to Rex :D

Nuhoyi, Vod’ika [Sleep, Dear Brother]: A collection of times people stumbled across Fives and Echo while they were asleep. Some fluff, some angst. Also somehow both canon compliant and canon divergent haha. You’ll see. Starts with 99, ends with Echo, actually.

Marching AU: Pretty straightforward lol. Snapshots of a single marching season, mostly (but not completely) from the point of view of the Tatooine Sand Torrents. Typical Clone Wars shenanigans mixed with typical band shenanigans. It’s great.

Again, there’s a lot more ideas and these ones are just the ones with actual writing currently. But, why not, I’ll post the idea names too. (Most of these everyone’s probably seen already. There are some new ones, though.):

If You Lived Here, You’d Be Home Now

Still planning on posting at least a chapter a month until it’s done.

I’ve liked having these on alternate second Mondays with Luisa and the Fox with a chapter of Carla every other week, but given that the latter is done and the former is almost done....

Probably still plan on posting these on Mondays.

 There are at least fifteen twenty known chapters (as in I have a fairly good idea of what happens in those chapters) and past those potentially two more at least - and some of those might expand because I know me and this should all happen in this chapter! and then it ends up being longer than I thought.

Right now it feels like this fic is shaping up to be more like multi-chapter chunks/arcs.

So the first arc was Luisa’s first few days at Belle Reve, and that was eight chapters.

The current arc I estimate to have at least seven chapters (six of those I have a fairly good idea of what’s going to happen but there’s an in-between of what’s currently going on and the latter half of the arc - like there’s a time period that I don’t have covered that I think may have a chapter but am not sure).

The next arc has at least five chapters (that I have general ideas on what happens with them) but will probably be longer than that.

The next arc has at least four but probably five chapters (that I have a fairly good idea of what happens - two of those chapters may be combined into one, but not sure at this point).

The next chapter has at least two, maybe three chapters before a one-two chapter break, and then there will probably be more chapters but not sure exactly on how this one will go as well.

Okay so apparently that’s more like twenty more chapters.  Oops.

The general ideas are the same as they were the last time I gave the estimate.  It’s just that at least one other complication has been added, among other things.  This is more likely to be longer than shorter.

Jane: The Real Story

Still not planning to schedule updates but may go into the Monday update slots.

Still don’t know how long this is going to be.

I do have the season one arc fairly plotted (or, well, partially plotted because there was a lot that happened in season one and while I know some of what I want to do with this, there are probably other things I should address and haven’t decided yet).

I have season two better plotted.  Or.  It’s less like seasons and more like arcs.

The first arc is Jane + pregnancy.  This is your season one equivalent, but it’s fairly different from season one.

The second arc is consequences of lying about the artificial insemination.  This is your season two equivalent, even though it address some events from season one.

The third arc is dealing with the aftermath of those consequences and...takes place in two different locations.  This is your season three/four equivalent.

I’m not sure if I’ll have an equivalent arc for season five because by that point it mostly won’t exist but I suppose there’s at least one aspect I’d like to address from season five so.  There’s that.

Basically it’s better brainstormed.

Still planning on having this be flexible in terms of updates.  For now, at least.

The Adventures of Rose, the Baker’s Daughter

I still like writing fairy tales and still don’t want to be judged but for now, this one is not in the cards to be regularly updated.  Kind of like the Pokemon fics.

Not abandoned but not super high priority.

Aftershocks

Potentially goes into one of the Monday update slots but not sure at this point.

Have a general idea of things I want to happen in this fic but not enough to give a general chapter count.  This is a really new fic, so it’s still being brainstormed ish.

I do look forward to the Luisa/Lint scenes, though, and I do plan on this being very focused on just Luisa, Rose, and Lint.  I don’t really want it to be bigger than them at the moment, although it may expand after this initial first arc.  I’m not sure yet.

May have a companion piece in regards to the Rosalint fic.

Kind of like how Carla and If You Lived Here, You’d Be Home Now are companion pieces.  You can read them separately and they work, but if you’ve read both, you get more out of them...ish.  They reference and call back to each other.

Heart in Motion

Not planning on having a firm updating schedule with this because it’s comedy and comedy is hard for me (dramedy is a little bit better but not by much).

This one is harder to write because idk if I can accurately capture the feel of all the ODAAT characters (Lydia, in particular, may be hard).

I have a general idea of where I want to go in terms of plot on this one.

I do want to have some ODAAT-centric chapters that set up for later stuff; I don’t want to just focus on Luisa and Rose drama (although I definitely do plan on drama as a result of...primarily Rose, let’s be honest).  But I don’t want to make the ODAAT characters side characters because I want it to be just as much their story as Rose and Luisa’s.

Expect irregular updates for now because that’s probably what might happen.

Where The Lightning Splits The Sea

aka Roisa HP AU.

This is probably going to be really, really long.

The first book has an outline.  It should be...fifteen chapters long.

The second book has the beginnings of its outline - right now it’s at least seven chapters long, but that only gets us to the end of October.

The following books I have notes on stuff that I want to make sure to include.

I’ve started writing the first book.

Right now I’m in chapter three, and the book is already over 13k.  That should give you some idea of length here.

I have a really good idea of what I want to do with this entire series.

It’s just probably going to be really long.

Right now, the plan is to finish an entire book and then post the chapters as updates (probably on Thursdays as opposed to the normal Monday updates).

I hope to have betas for these, and I’d like the betas to have the general overarching outline of what’s going on...but maybe not.

Maybe should have different betas for this.  I’m unsure.

Also I should probably finish my HP series reread.  Oh well.

I have ideas about this one and I like those ideas but still hammering out the specific details of the fusion.

Like I can’t just make Lucy an assassin.

Like Emma makes better sense if I fuse her as a combination of Chloe and Altena but she’s technically in Kirika’s role.

Like how do I throw the rest of the gang in here (and do I, considering one of the great things about Noir was that none of the main characters were men and the men who showed up were usually in minor or plot device roles)?

I really want to write this because Noir is so near and dear to my heart but....  Idk if anyone else will enjoy this, tbh.

Favourite story you’ve written so far: Probably one of my WIPs, tbh (actually I’d say my original work based on my wild as fuck connected dreams that I may or may not ever publish) but of the complete ones, I’ll say It Need Not Follow (JayRoy) bc I really enjoy writing misunderstandings that turn out well and I amused myself a lot writing the confrontation between Jason and Roy in that one

Fic you were nervous to post: Of my recent ones, I’d say Worth the Wait because it was my first JayRoy fic and also it has a darker, more serious tone than a lot of what I write (although recently I’ve been in the mood to write heavier emotional scenes, so maybe that’s not quite true anymore).

How do you choose your titles: My preferred method is choosing a recurring theme or meaningful quote from the work as the title, but if I’m struggling to find one I like, I’ll sometimes use song lyrics or references to other works that vibe with the story. Mostly I use the latter for chapter titles rather than work titles, though.

Do you outline: I never mean to, but on longer fics I always end up losing the thread of the story and I end up having to outline anyway. Usually I just type a paragraph or two about what I want to have happen, or I’ll make a list of the things I don’t want to forget to include (mostly jokes for comedy pieces).

>A fic based on an idea I had three years ago that Amanda Grayson from Star Trek is Dick Grayson’s descendant where she accidentally travels into the past and meets him

>A JayRoy bodyguard fic that was, again, supposed to be a short comedy but has quickly morphed into something huge about Jason refusing to become the Red Hood and instead getting revenge on Bruce via a long prank where he becomes Oliver Queen & family’s bodyguard but they don’t know who he is

>An experimental piece to help me explore relationships where a magical artifact traps various people connected to Jason in a strange, empty world that feels a bit apocalyptic but isn’t.
