Fun dads! Karl is definitely the softest for you while Sapnap is the most attentive.

Karl is very playful and gets you all sorts of toys. He encourages you to play outside and just enjoy your time, leading you on tame explorations around Kinoko. He forages with you and helps you identify different kinds of mushrooms and plants.

Karl occasionally tells stories of times long past with foggy eyes and an odd tone.

He makes soup with you and makes you breakfast. He's not the best cook in the house but he does make good mushroom soup.

Sapnap likes to play rough, encouraging games involving sports or physical activity of any kind. You wanna play knights? He makes you a cardboard sword to swing around (no matter if you're a knight or princess), and he's the big bad dragon you've gotta defeat! He enjoys picking you up and swinging you around– of course he's never too rough but he tends to throw you around a bit.

He also likes lots of sports– soccer, basketball, football, etc. If you're an active kid, he'll play whatever you want all day.

Sapnap also makes sure you can defend yourself, and teaches you how to fight against mobs. He always keeps a watchful eye on you whenever you're out and about, but he knows you can handle yourself when night falls.

Quackity can be distant and quiet at times, but when he's around he showers you with gifts and praise. He gives you toys, expensive clothing, trinkets– basically whatever you want, he'll get.

He also tells you stories and brings back souvenirs whenever he goes to Las Nevadas. He often reads from books but also talks of his colleagues and any humorous incidents that have happened to him.

His softer side comes out in these moments– he loves making you laugh, seeing your face light up makes his whole week.

Quackity is banned from the kitchen, thus your days with him are spent going out and shopping or meeting up with Quackity's friends. He spoils you with anything you have your eye on, even if you don't ask for anything.

If you're more creative than active, Quackity gets you lots of books for you to read, on whatever subject you like. Space? Dinosaurs? Nature? He can get those. Fiction books, fantasy, horror? Sure!

Karl will gladly color or draw with you, taking great delight when you show him your drawings and making a big show of it.

"Oh, what's this?? Oh, [Name], this is amazing! Literally, like, Mona Lisa quality, what the heck! I'm putting this up on the fridge!"

Every drawing is posted on the fridge with little magnets, proudly displaying your creativity. Sapnap and Quackity both compliment your skills, Sapnap ruffling your hair or giving you a noogie.

"Look at our little artist!"

"Woah, the world's gotta watch out. We've got a master in the works."

Days where the whole family is together can be chaotic. Dinners are lively and you get a lot of attention. Sapnap is the main cook of the household, and food cooked by him is full of love for his family. If you're a picky eater, he caters to your needs, but encourages you to branch out if you ever want to.

If you fall ill, they're all there to support you. Sapnap tends to you at every complaint (albeit telling you not to be so dramatic), Karl makes you some soup, and Quackity gets your medicine.

Nightmares are similar-- Sapnap and Quackity both advise you to fight back against whatever scary monster is in your dreams. Quackity tries to comfort you by telling you it's not real, or by reading you a story. Karl offers to sit and listen if you want to talk about it, and gives nice, warm hugs.

You didn't mean to scrunch your face up when you looked over your scarring. While you could still recall the euphoria that washed over your body when you first had the gauze and tubing removed from your chest, your anxious mind still had racing thoughts. What if people didn't see you as you wanted them to? What if the need to change your appearance in such a drastic way made you less of who you wanted to be?

"You're overthinking it again amor," You heard behind you. You whipped around to see your trio, your boys watching from the doorway. Karl, Sapnap, and Quackity all wore the same worried expression for you.

"What if this doesn't change anything Q?" You mumbled, looking now at your sides where the scarring stretched up from your chest. You lifted your arms up to see them in full, eyes full of trepidation.

"Are you happy with it?" The duck hybrid asks, slowly stepping into the room. He looks over your scars with scrutiny and a gentle hand. He knew fully well how to care for a scar and the damage that could be done if it was left to fester. "Does it help you feel better?"

"Well, yes but--" You try to argue your point again, but you're immediately cut off.

"So don't worry about what other people think," Sapnap tells you, ever blunt and to the point. He leans over Quackity to inspect your chest, checking for any moisture that needed to be added to your nipple grafts.

"Plus, we love you as you are," Karl chimes, hugging you from behind. The sleeves of his hoodie come to wrap around your tummy and his fluffy-haired head rests on yours. "As long as you're happy, we're happy."

You couldn't not smile, blushing slightly at their kind words. Your boys had been nothing but patient with you during this process, tending to your scars and making sure you didn't need to so much as lift a finger as you healed. You look back at your reflection again and you meet Karl's mismatched eyes. He echos your smile, kissing the back of your head sweetly.

"Besides," Sapnap starts again, with a mischievous gleam in his eye. "At least the worst you have is pepperoni nipples. Not like they fell off or something." You couldn't help but laugh at the blaze hybrid.

"At least they don't look burnt like somebodies," you tease back, continuing to laugh at his offended gasp. Quackity shakes his head fondly, a content smile on his face. Karl begins to tease Sapnap too, and you all have a laugh at his fake whines of protest.

You had your boys and the four of your were happy.

Finally!

The third and final chapter of my Karlnapity fic Half-Hearted Fools is finally out. Was I procrastinating? Maybe a little, but its here and that's what matters :)

"How do I know?” Quackity asked, “How do I know if I only think about you, dream and wish and hope for you-” His voice cracked,

Karl walked through the doorway to the homey apartment, heart pulsing in his chest, sight blurry, and hands shaking. He could hear the electricity, the tapping of keys, the hum of the aircon, the faint music from down the hall, and the quiet chatter from the TV. He felt like he could hear everything. It all felt like too much, but he needed to keep himself together, as having another meltdown would be embarrassing. He was supposed to be normal, or rather he needed to be. How else could he be there for his boyfriends? For Sapnap and Quackity who gave everything they could for him? Letting himself go would be selfish, and another burden on their shoulders. So he squared himself up, tossed his bag and shoes next to the doorway, and darted for the bathroom.

He kept the lights off, and took deep, long breaths to try and keep himself at bay. All he has to do is say hello to his husbands, and then lock himself back into the bathroom, he’ll be fine. He reached into the sink, turning on the faucet and splashing the cold water onto his face, hoping it would help. But unfortunately for him, it did the exact opposite. He felt the wetness seep into his pores, and it made his face feel heavy and soggy. 

Tears brimmed his eyes as his fists clenched and unclenched. It took everything in him to not scratch his skin off to get rid of the awful feeling. Instead, he grabbed a nearby towel, rubbing his face into the fabric. But even that felt offensive against his skin, and he let out a shallow sob.

He frantically wiped his eyes, breathing deeply, before darting out of the bathroom. I need to get this over with, he thought, sauntering over to one of the rooms down the hall from the restroom, quietly knocking on the door. 

“Come in!” one of the two replied.

Karl cracked the door open, peeking inside, before being bombarded by the sound of the music, loud and heavy in the air. He had to resist the urge to cover his ears and scream for it to stop. It all felt like too much, his ears were starting to hurt from the stimulation. He felt the tears well up again, the frog in his throat clawing at him to be released.

Karl opened his mouth to say something, anything, but nothing came out. His throat felt clenched, and he reached a hand up to scratch at it.

At that motion, Quackity raised his eyebrows, sitting up, “Karl? Babe, what's wrong?”

Upon not receiving much response other than Karl’s piercing stare, he shoved Sapnap for help, not really understanding what was wrong with the brunette.

Sapnap gave him a what the fuck? Look, before Quackity pointed at Karl.

“Oh, oh, oh.” It didn’t even take him another second before he got up, slinking over to Karl with as much gentleness as he could muster. 

He reached out to grab him, but as soon as he made contact, Karl let out a loud sob, recoiling in onto himself. He grumbled under his shallow breaths, and his whole body was shaking.

Sapnap looked to Quackity, his eyes wide and fearful. They didn’t fully understand what was happening, and were unsure of what to do. 

“Karl, what can we do for you right now, hun? We can’t help if you don’t tell us.” Quackity whispered to him, laying a hand on his quivering shoulder.

Karl’s eyes were looking at the floor, and his hands were clenched so tight his knuckles had turned white. He reached them up, and made a grabbing motion. When the two didn’t respond, he took his hands, and squished them together. They looked at each other, then back at karl. “You want to be held?” Sapnap cautiously asked. Karl shook his head slightly, repeating the same motions. “So you don’t want to be held?” Karl shook his head harder, pointing at them, then at himself, and then doing repeating the movements again.

“Do you want to be squished?” Quackity asked. He had remembered Karl mentioning something about enjoying the feeling of someone putting immense amounts of pressure on him (or being squashed like a bug as he described it), and was hoping maybe that was the answer to this game of charades.

Karl shook his head up and down, tears finally spilling out of his tired eyes.

“Oh, baby, come here.” Q gently led them over to the bed, before positioning Karl into his arms, and signaling Sap to do the same.

After Karl had been safely sandwiched between them, he had reached his hands up to cover his ears.

Sapnap took the hint and shut off the blaring music, opting for the humming silence of the room.

Karl sobbed loudly, curling more in on himself. Q tightened his arms around him, squeezing him gently. At that action, Karl almost immediately calmed down, his body loosening and his cries quieting themselves (Q compared it to when you give a baby a pacifier, it was that instantaneous). 

Sap and Q looked at each other incredulously, before deciding to close in on Karl again.

His breathing evened out, and the boys took their opportunity to investigate.

“Karl, babe? Are you alright?” Q asked carefully, brushing a hand over his face.

Karl gently shook his head no, squeezing his eyes closed. Looking at everything was too much, the colors felt like lasers burning into him. 

“Can you talk, baby boy?” He shook his head lightly, he felt like if he had to hear his own voice, he would explode.

“Can you try?” Sap piped up, only to receive a smack from Quackity and a glare.

“I… I… loud, hurt.” Karl whimpered, his hands coming up to cover his ears once again.

Quackity gently removed one, and whispered “Hey, it’s alright. Are you overwhelmed right now? Is this a meltdown like the ones you were telling us about?” Karl frantically shook his head up and down at that, tears dripping out again. Sap made a small o-shape with his mouth, locking eyes with Quackity in mutual surprise. 

“That’s okay, sweetheart. We can stay like this as long as you need, okay?” Sapnap mumbled affectionately, curling around the whimpering brunette once again.

Quackity leaned down and gave Karl small kisses on his face, brushing his fingers through his hair gently.

After just a few minutes of this, the tall boy’s breathing had evened out, and his body was relaxed and still. No more fidgeting or scratching or shaking. He had finally calmed down, and unfurled himself from his ball, reaching out to hold his boys closer.

almost always! they make me happy and i like being able to ramble about my thought processes. occasionally i get a comment that makes me go "???" though...those ones i'll ignore

paved with good intentions (lottielee angel/demon au) probably has the most tragic ending...also need something newer than new (karlnapity) is pretty fucking sad at the end

i write good dialogue i think!

it's hard for me to stick with one project and see it though...i write a lot of one-shots because those are easiest for me to actually finish lmao. and i can't really write anything longer than 5k! that's about the point where i start losing interest in writing the story T_T

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

i think...it depends. because honestly some authors do it so so badly and some do it really well. sometimes it feels natural and sometimes it doesn't. i'm not inherently against it though

first ever fandom was frozen, but on ao3 the first thing i ever published was actually for toradora! just a fun fact for u

you're getting the top three: and i'll never go home again (oikita), the pissever hs yuri au (technically it's three fics, but it counts as one. also. it's exactly what it sounds like), and paved with good intentions (lottielee).

I ship it!

1. What made you ship it? it was in part due to karlnapity, but i loved the dynamics of the three even as duos. plus Quackity and Sap are closer at least lore wise since Sapnap was the one who seeked out Q and still left the door open for him in Kinoko even after the fallout between Q and Karl. Plus both are fiercely loyal and protective of the things they love and don't take kindly to betrayal. Oh and 10000% blaming the TFTSMP wild west episode, i love jack kanoff and mason so much <3 <3

2. What are your favorite things about the ship? the angst, the fluff, their chemistry, the two being dramatic but silly characters, the las nevadas quacknap aus, etc, etc. There are so many things that I can't just choose one kjHSDKJ Like I said before their loyalty is admirable but i love the idea of playing with how it can be their fault

3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship? I know its a common end-game idea that if the lore fully panned out then quacknap would get together and karl would be left behind after everything but idk, maybe it's the angst aspect but i dont think they would be able to return to one another / find a romantic refuge in each other again. Too much has happened. Plus Sapnap still doesn't know that Quackity tortured Dream and while Sapnap definitely has attempted to move on from the idea of ever saving Dream, i don't know if he would see Q in the same light again.

Doesn't mean things can't work out you know, maybe they do return to each other, maybe they don't, both avenues are interesting to explore
