So, at this point in their story, the third gen knows that the Phantom is an entity that is nothing given will, that it basically seeks to consume everything to make it part of itself, that the Khura’in dimension is next on its list, and that it’s grown strong enough that it will be able to do so in a day or so.

“But- we’ve been beating you-!”

“Foolish child, did you think this was the only dimension I was working in at the moment? What you have faced so far is a distraction, nothing more.”

So that’s not good.

On the plus side, they have managed to discover that the way the Phantom consumes dimensions is that it opens a portal from its place of existence to the dimension in question, allows it to grow a bit, and then drags everything in from there, and they and Simon are able to find the portal pretty quickly, thanks to Simon being able to be a bird that’s good at flying long distances and spotting things from far away.

On the minus side, there’s a huge friggin’ force field over the portal that looks super sturdy, and a rather large number of Phantom-possessed monsters between them and it in every direction. So that’s... bad, that’s very bad, they’re not designed to be endurance melee-fighters, and this is the point where the girls really, truly realize that they’re in over their heads. But what else can they do but fight? They’re the only ones who can beat the Phantom, there’s no one to do this but them, so they power up, gear up to wade into battle-

“Hi there!”

And pause, because Maya and Nahyuta have just popped into existence in front of them, Nahyuta with a friendly if somewhat pleased expression and Maya with a huge smile.

“We heard you guys might need a little help, so we invited some friends of ours to help out - I hope you don’t mind!”

She points behind them, and they turn to find the second generation along with Kay, and the first generation along with Franziska, all powered up and ready for battle.

“But- but,” Athena stammers out, “How did you know-?”

And Simon lands on her shoulder and bumps her head with his beak. “I circled by the palace on my way back to you three - what kind of companion would I be if I allowed my team to face something like this alone?”

“Maya and Nahyuta informed us of the situation,” Miles steps forward from where he and Phoenix and Larry have been getting delighted hugs from Trucy (because her dads and uncle are here and she genuinely thought she might never see them again), “My sister, Kunoichi (Kay), and I can likely take down a goodly portion of the rabble between you and the barrier.”

“I can help with that,” Sebastian adds in, “When you fight with Royal Blue, the terrain’s with you!” (Kay elbows him for being cheesy, he protests he helped him come up with the line.)

“You three should save your strength for the Phantom,” Apollo advises, considering the barrier with his chin in his hand, “I can probably get that barrier down, but an attack that big will take awhile to gather, and I’ll need someone to keep those monsters off me while I do it.”

“Sounds like a job for Blue Shield,” Phoenix drops a hand on Apollo’s shoulder and winks a little sadly at Trucy. It goes without saying that he’d rather be protecting his daughter and her team, but he’s trusting her and the rest of their friends.

“Then we’ll make sure the girls get across the field unscathed,” Nahyuta says, gesturing to himself and Maya, “I recommend you stay in your disguise form until absolutely necessary, Blackquill, in the event your team needs your strength.”

“Very well.”

“I’ll come with you too,” Larry steps to join the girls, “That way I can give you all a last power-up as we go, and I’m a dab hand in a fight!”

“Then it is settled?” Klavier asks, and, getting confirmation, summons his guitar, entirely for the look of it, “Wunderbar! In that case,” he slams a hand down on the strings, “Achtung! Ladies, Gentlemen, and Elegant Enbys, I give you - A Song for Heroes!” And he starts absolutely shredding it in a complicated, ongoing buff/debuff for his allies/enemies.

So, mission planned, jobs assigned, and live soundtrack playing, Sebastian springs down first and starts conducting the terrain, the fighters follow into battle close on his heels, and after giving them a moment’s head start, the girls and their crew start their run on the portal.

Time to take this monster down for good.
